Hi,
Running DXJPA and flashed Speedmod k10j-500hz #16 last night. Booted into recovery mode and flashed EXT4 which I thought was a Lagfix. Anyways it worked but when it was doing it's initial installation and back-ups it stated it was a "ClockWorkMod Lag Fix Edition"(not sure about the Rev.#).
My Quad. benchmark went from 987 to 1270, and the unit felt much snappier.
My question is, did I somehow install the wrong lagfix and just get lucky?
And
Is there anywas I can confirm which lagfix I've applied?
Cheers.....
speedmod's kernel has the ext4 lagfix and that is what you have done based from what you stated.
so yes you are now using an EXT4 lagfix with your phone. you can disable it by going back to cwm and choose disable lagfix. cwm will then make a nandroid back-up and reboot your unit with RFS

I'm currently using the Final build of Ginerclone which uses the JK3 modem and the ULF kernel. I would like to flash both the JK4 modem and Speedmod Kernel..
I understand the process for both.. but am kinda confused about kernel flashing. Speedmod reccomends disabling any lagfix before flashing a new kernel. How?? How do I disable the ULF that came with Gingerclone? I went into CWM and didn't see any options to disable.
Can someone give me a n00b step by step on how to disable the lagfix so I can flash the new kernel?
Thank you so much.
Should have an option in recovery fire advanced ulk options. Click then go to lag fix then disable. Go back and reboot. phone will go back to a screen giving options about new settings. Click top option to back up and restore. Done

There is no option is CWM.. According to ROM manager I'm using the latest version... is there another way?
Do not use rom manager to get into recovery. Power off, use three button combo to get into recovery vol up and down and power. If you have ulk the option will be there
Go to my files and tell me if there is a folder named voodoo
I could not find anything in Clockwork Mod.. I had voodoo lagfix before I flashed back to stock via Odin. The folder was still there after installing Gingerclone so I put disable lagfix in the voodoo folder and decided to flash the Speedmod. Everything seemed to work fine.. My Clockwork Mod now has SpeedMod in the menu and new options.. It definitely flashed over... But here's the weird thing.. My kernel doesn't show SpeedMod in About Phone.. just the numbers 2.6.32.9 ...which is very weird.
Is that normal?
Certain roms can not show the kernel correctly so yes it is normal for certain roms. The 2.2.1 roms show the correct kernel
To get max effect of the kernel enable lag fix in recovery and enable all tweaks that have r next to it.
Also dl voodoo app from market for sound
Dude. if you have ext4 lagfix with ULF, then you don't even have to disable to flash. HC's speedmod kernel is TOTALLY ext4 compatible. It clearly states you don't have to disable if your already ext4.

Ah that makes sense... Gingerclone is a 2.2 Rom and never showed the actual Kernel since I had it installed.
All the tweak options already show enabled.. so that's good. Also, as far as enabling the lagfix... when I go into Lagfix options in CWM. Everything already shows data is in ext4 format. Does that mean the lagfix is already enabled?

I read that only if you have the latest version of Voodoo, then it was compatible. Since I could never see exactly what kernel I had.. I wasn't sure exactly what kernel I was running.. so I disabled it before I flashed just to be sure. Now that I have speedmod installed and running.. can I delete the Voodoo folders off my sdcard?

There are a few things you cqn do. First there are apps to disable the lagfix with one click. I believe its called voodoo control. Second option would be the manual way by editing the voodoo folder otherwise you could always flash a different kernel that includes the correct recovery. Or lastly you may be able to flash the new recovery in odin or clockwork. I have an update.zip that you can run from recovery that will install lagfix edition clockwork ill post it if you would like.

I know Cognition has been using Voodoo for a long time.
Basic answer to disable Voodoo before flashing another ROM:
Go into the "Voodoo" folder under your SD Card.
Put in a file with NO extensions called disable-lagfix
Reboot.
BUT... if you plan on installing a different ROM entirely - you probably want to flash back to stock first. Get Odin 1 Click and it will wipe the phone - including any existing lagfixes.
Basically though make sure you read the Dev's OP post before flashing - most will tell you to wipe your phone before flashing their ROM. Prevents a LOT of potential issues when you do it that way.
It also depends on what you're moving to. Most use ext4 therefore disabling lagfixes between them isn't near as necessary. But still reccommended.

check your build first, then use odin to flash back to stock, you do not need to disable lagfix when you flash back to stock.
then you install the rom from there.
why should i return to stock?
by the way iv found the way to enter the "RED recovery"
how do i proceed from there?
thanks allot!!!

back to stock is just want to make sure you do not mess up something. it will always work for me ...
copy your new rom zip file to your sdcard root dir, go into recovery, install the zip from there.
You don't need to disable lagfix. Just flash and be done with it.

Yeah, because no one ever messes something up odin flashing.
When you say green/red.... ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.1.3 -voodoo lagfix is red. The Speedmod kernel's version is green. You can switch to the 3e recovery from inside speedmod.
where i can get a stock?
The stock kernel is rather slow and unfunctional. I don't think anyone really wants to flash back. You should try speedmod for a good kernel. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893880
However, to answer your question, you can always flash back to Odin.
flashed to stock OTA working great not laggy at all and the call quality is superb!
i wish at&t have 2.2...bummer!
oh well...
now flashing as planed
Hi!
which lagfix is stable with jpjpg rom?(please link me to a newest version and safest method)
tnx!!
what's your setup?
Are you on a stock ROM
-Do you have root
-Do you have cwm or a custom kernel
What lagfix are you talking about?
I'd really like to help you but I have no idea what you need to know so I recommend you this here
If you are on a custom kernel:
/data - ext4
/cache - ext4nj
/dbdata - ext4
Is considered the safest

download and flash any kernel from the kitchen (generator->update.zip, then choose a kernel. I recommend speedmod, but they're all really good)
Then boot into recovery and apply the recommended/default lagfix and the tweaks
If you have any further questions, consult the thread of the chosen kernel or just ask here
cwm
tnx for your guidence.
now i have cwm(update.zip)file but i can't install this file on recovery 3e!
is it necessary to downgrade my recovery ver form 3e to 2e?(i want cwm but have problem to install that)
Hi, I got the stock JVB running with supercurios hacked kernel and ext4 lagfix applied. I want to flash Juwes ROM 4.1 now. There are 2 versions, one with WIPE and one without WIPE. I am planning to flash the NO WIPE version to keep my apps and settings.
Do I have to undo the ext4 lagfix before flashing? Juwe says "to make sure", that does sound kind of optional...
I already did a lagfix-undo once and I experienced FCs after it.
Just installed it without lagfix-undo and without any wipes. everything seems to work fine so far.
Hey guys, just flashed Honeycomb Alpha but I wanted to go back. I tried doing this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=967175
But no luck. It just bootloops the Verizon logo and it vibrates like it is constantly force closing something. Never loads.
Help please!
Retried using stock rom but with Khasmek's voodoo kernel in Heimdall for the kernel and recovery slots. It worked. Odd, but cool.
That's because one system was ext4 and one was rfs.
Can't run rfs kernel and ext4 rom, our vise versa...
Swyped from my "better than an iPad" tab running Overcome Hermes.

But I tried loading the stock rfs rom and kernel and it bootlooped.... That was the odd thing. But when I loaded the voodoo ext4 kernel with the stock rfs rom, it worked. Mayyybe it just didn't flash the stock kernel properly and maybe when I flashed the voodoo one it didn't actually convert to ext4, because I definitely dont remember hearing the robot voodoo women and it booted straight up pretty quickly.
