I'm thinking of buying HTC hd7 but I herd it doesn't have smart dialing? So is it true ? No updates to make it work ? I hope to see some answers soon thanks.

Doesn't have smart dialing but you can always just put people that you call the most as a speed dial on your tiles.
Plus the Voice Dialing feature on this phone is very accurate.

It'd be nice if using a bluetooth headset didn't disable voice commands though eh!

It doesn't, I constantly dial using my Blueant Q2 Headset...
Thanks guys for all your replies. I think i will wait on the HD7 for now until it gets mature. Because i do use the smart dialing alot.
Honestly, I did too, and it was a little weird not using it, but you can type out a person's name in your call history and it searches for them in your contacts, so it's pretty much the same idea...
Thanks for the suggestion but I have tried it its not as convenient as the phone keys smart dial. But do you guys think there will be an update soon ? I was really hoping HTC would come up with state of art interface for the hd7 or you call it hd3. But its a big turn off for me and I'm sure for rest of you guys too. Windows 6.5 mobile is still a champ to me with hd 2.

Is it possible for someone to develop a ROM that supports video calling on 3g without any application... Just using my service providers video calling service?
Or any modification to stock ROM?
thank you....

That sounds impossible, correct me if I'm wrong but even the ability to call (dialer) IS an app
What you're asking sounds impossible
That's a little bit too literal..
I think OP meant no Third-Party Apps.
Just using the built-in dialer app.
I think it should be possible to re-create the dialer .apk, but I'm inclined to believe that it's pretty hard.
Good luck though!
In my old HTC diamond this feature was there but then there was no 3g. Now we have 3g but this feature has been withdrawn. I don't know what's the logic.
I agree this should be default in every phone.
Anyone has any update?

Ahh I see, still.. that probably wouldn't be too easy to do. (Although I think they could probably manage it.. however coming from the nexus one/incredible s and now the atrix.. I've never seen someone do something big like this on xda yet!) so probably possible but is it likely? I don't think so!
Don't own one but I guess galaxy phones support this feature right? Even symbian... Just saying... I had a Samsung wave earlier and it had touchwiz... And supported direct video calling based on my 3G network....

It's bizarre how there's no 3G video call solution anymore on HTC phones. I used to call my girlfriend on her LG phone and mine was an old Nokia 6700 Slide (running different operating systems) and it worked fine, albeit pretty blocky picture quality.

I think Sammy phones can do a lot more just because of their proprietary file system.
It's like touchwiz on older phones is just bada OS with Android compatibility hacked in (galaxy s were supposed to be bada OS until Android caught on). At least that's the explanation I've heard. I believe it 100%, because when I had a vibrant all the roms HAD to be based off of touchwiz somehow or another, except for cm7, and cm7 just as bad as android ports to Windows phones, so it seemed like an 'Android port' to me
Sorry for rambling haha

my question is why is it important to you guys not to use an application?
Is it possible that HTC and/or Google doesn't want a law-suit on a patent infringement from apple?

An application in required on both the sides... Not necessary that the person I call has a smart phone and had the same application...

Hi all,
Did anyone experience this? While using a bluetooth headset, after call ended, music will autoplay?
I'm using DELL BH200, and am on unrooted stock 2.3.6. No other music player installed, just the stock player.
Google around but unable to find a solution...
Anyway to disable this annoying autoplay?
Regards,
Silverbold17

Not that I don't want this feature, but auto play after every single call ended is really annoying...especially if you're using your BT headset for phone call purposes...

I had this problem with my Atrix and my Infuse. I use Bluetooth thru my truck stereo for all calls. I posted a request for help in the Atrix forums. Someone suggested using an app called Autorun Manager . I did not try it because I sold my Atrix soon after the request.
Hope this helps

Had seen this suggestion on other forum but it seems like Autorun Manager require ROOT access which I don't have on my stock 2.3.6...
When I upgraded to ICS, I (and everyone else) lost the built-in voice dialer in Android 2.3.4. See the Vivid General forum for details on this. I tried Vlingo, and it worked okay most of the time, but it required a lot of steps. So, I tried Cyberon Voice Commander and was pleased with how well it worked and how closely it matched the original voice dialer when connected to my car's audio system via bluetooth. See my post for more details.

There may be other apps that work, so I am not saying this is the only one.

Yes, I saw posts on that. However, because of all the "crash and burn" posts from people trying to install custom ROMs, I think I'm going to wait a while. There is still too much transition right now between GB and ICS, and with S-Off possibly coming "soon."
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

That is due to people not understanding the process of flashing a ROM, kernel, etc. There are video guides, written directions, and people who can help to flash correctly. It is real simple if you read and know what to do.

Megatron, didn't you recently have issues? I could have sworn I saw a post of yours. I understand the apprehension of flashing a whole Rom.
Personally, I haven't found much of a use for root or cusMy ICS is dialed in except for voice dial. I just want an app.

No issues here, although I have posted a lot to help others who are having trouble! I can understand how with limited knowledge it can be scary to root your phone, flash a rom, etc. but only if you didn't read up on what you are doing and rush through the steps. Before I got this phone I read about the steps and then when I got it felt comfortable and did everything. I know enough now that if something did happen I could get out of the problem without help.
To each his own IMO, if he wants to wait its the choice he's made ... But I do believe that myself , MEGATRON and most of WC'S illegitimate children could update h-boot or flash a new Rom blindfolded or heavily intoxicated lol, its gotten that easy
I've flashed the phone two times, unlocked and rooted. It has become much easier. I frankly don't want to set the phone up again.
Also, with custom ROMs you usually trade one problem for another. They usually aren't perfect.
BTW, thanks megatronisabeast for all your help to others.

I hate to grave dig old topics but this is really bugging me. Again, I have stock ICS so dialed in. I am trying to avoid flashing.
Skyvi has actually come a LONG way towards becoming a Siri-esque app. It just won't wake or activate from a BT headset.
What is everyone lease doing? Flashing custom ROM?

Well, I installed Cyberon Voice Speed Dial and it works well as a voice dialer for bluetooth devices. My Parrot car kit dials really well with it installed on the phone.
Not sure if this is what you were originally after but hope it helps.

I tried Cyberon Voice Command, but, while I can activate it by bluetooth, I still have to speak directly to the phone. Tried with different bluetooth sets, still the same. Will try VSP.
Thanks.
Hey frustrated voice dialing crew!
Last night I stumbled upon Voice Control by Luka Kama. There's a free version called Voice Control Test.
Its contact recognition is pretty accurate. It can also do voice to text. For me, the downside is it tries to do too much. It is expanding to Siri-like functionality which I find pointless. It also has a LED graphic like Knight Rider's KITT which is retro-wierd.
+1 for the Knight Rider reference

Hi. I've had my Z for nearly a week now and it's bloody brilliant!
One question though, there's no option to make video calls even though there is a front facing camera. I've googled this issue and found nothing helpful.
Anyone know why there is no video call function and if it can be added with a replacement dialer or something????
Any help appreciated, thanks.
That I don't know. I use Google Hangout or Skype though. That works fine.

Thanks for replies. I had video call available on my last phone, Xperia Arc, although it was on a custom ROM it was still using the Sony home-screen app. Oh well, I'll find a way eventually...
Skype is great. Used with my Arc, and quality is impressive. And I used it over at&t 3G network, without a problem.
Voice quality is phenomenal!! Like being next door!! Better than using the phone as a phone.
Highly recommend Skype. Plus free Skype to Skype calls!!

Hi thintin,
Have you found a solution to your video call problem? I'm planning to buy Xperia Z, but I definitely need this feature.
I mean, video call via 3G or 4G network.
