Hello...
I have a problem with my SGS. I was on Darky 9.5, and decided to upgrade to JVB. I had CWM & working recovery on Darky 9.5, I disabled lagfix, and I downloaded deodexed JVB rom - in a zip file. I flashed it trough cwm, and it worked. With some issues. The rom (JVB) worked fine, but dialer app force closed a lot, and it was slow, gps badly working etc... I rooted trough odin with chainfires kernel 3.1 and then flashed a small zip file that enabled overscroll glow effect. And all of those things worked. I tried to flash to stock rom using odin and download mode but when I connect my sgs, my pc cannot recognize it. It says "USB device not recognised". So I cannot use ODIN, and also all of a sudden, i cannot enter cwm, even with 3 button combo. I tried this on 3 computers, and I have a second SGS which works fine, including download mode & odin DOES recognise it. So drivers should be fine. Anyone have a solution to this problem? I CAN start DOWNLOAD mode but 3 PC's don't recognize it. And my other SGS works on ALL 3 PC's.
Oh, I fogote to write. I directly flashed 2.3 JVB cwm zip (deodex. file) from cwm (darky 9.5) and that didnt't update bootloaders. The JVB rom booted and worked fine, but after powering on sgs displayed a weird looking boot screen, but the rom booted successfully anyway.
I would really appriciate your help.
Thanks.

Uh... sounds like something is seriously wrong with your phone dude =\ You should be able to get to d/l mode regardless. Does the phone still work fine otherwise?
Unable to root sgs gingerbread NEJVD
I have the same problem after upgrading to official firmware via kieys. Running PDA:I9000NEJVD, PHONE:I9000NEJV5, CSC:H3GJV6 on 3mobile. Odin doesn't recognise phone in download mode, computer only reads onboard sd card when connected as usb storage. Tried one superoneclick too but stops at running pnueter exploit/gingerbreak exploit. Super laggy as well, Can i roll back to froyo? any help highly appreciated.

Did you try diffrent usb port on your cpu?

if so make sure it isn't running ( i would uninstall just incase)
see if that helps.

I am interested in rooting too, and I have gingerbread. I have 2 problems though, first, I do not have the 3button combo working. I thought the gingerbread update would fix it, but no luck, and the method I found here did not work. I hear that you should not try to root without the 3 button combo working, but what choice do I have, samsung update did not fix this bootloader problem. I cannot put my phone in download mode without having it plugged in and recognized by adb.
My 2nd problem is that I have a I9000T and it seems nobody has this phone around here so I have no way of knowing if some of the rooting options even work for my phoen and firmeware.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I actually have a i9000t, ive soft bricked a few times as long as you could get into download mode you should be ok, allways keep a stock rom around just incase to flash back to through odin.
Ive flashed a few modem with no problems, few roms with minimal problems..
Cm7 lost radio and weird pixle screen boot.
Deoxidized roms work good.
I had flashed Darkys 9.5 and everything worked till i noticed the stock music player gave me reboots.
I had tried flashing MIUI but no luck at all, could of been my zip. File was messed up but i tried a diffrent and still nothing. Now im on Darky 10.1 final no problems.
This has to be the most stable/fastest rom ive ever flashed.
Edit i looked up something that might help.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723596

hi.. do you have official kies installed on your computer?
if so uninstall it first... and installed the unofficial samsung driver.. sorry i cant post link here as am junior member..
you can search in google "samsung usb.rar". Once you download it, then installed it on your computer. Open you odin, put your phone in download mode,
and plug in to computer, then odin should be able to recognize your phone.
Once I have the same problem and it works for me with above step. hope that help.

Thanks for the reply! Ok, I finally manage to have the 3button combo work and get into download mode and recovery mode. I want to root, can you tell me if the odin method works on 2.3.3 stock, on I9000T . Also, How can I fully backup my phone. Which android version did you have when you rooted.
Also, I keep reading those very old threads and I was wondering what the latest Odin version is used for 2.3.3.

Turns out We/I have been using the wrong button combo for download. Download mode is: Vol DOWN+Home+Power On.!!! Recovery mode is Vol UP+Home+Power On. I used Fuguroot with my stock kernel from RAMAD (senior developer). Flashed with odin & it took LESS THAN 2 MIN! Check out this link here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011901.Hope this helps. Do remember to thank Ramad and Nicademus!
good you figured out

I don't have a galaxy tab, but it should be similliar to my galaxy s. I think your device is NOT bricked. As long as you can get to download mode, your device is NOT bricked. If you can get there, you should try to flash with odin/heimdall again. I think you must have done something wrong in the flashing process. AFAIK the logo is displayed by bootloader (primary), so if nothing went wrong with flashing the secondary one (download mode), you should be able to flash again.
Hi everybody, I'm just new here and I know I'm one of those people who keeps on asking about the same problem! I'm sorry about that.
Here's the problem, yesterday I rooted my s2 for the first time and it was successful. My current ROM right now is chekrom latest version and my current kernel is speedmod latest version which can be downloaded in the kitchenpro application. This morning I was downloading a widget in the Kitchenpro and then it was successfully installed in my s2 but it turned out that I got a bootloop. I immediately turn it on to recovery mode and "reboot" my phone. (So dumb didn't access the forums for any solutions! It was too late for me.. sigh) I tried to put out the battery from my phone and when I was about to turn it on, my phone won't turn ON! I tried to do the recovery mode (vol up + home key + power) but it won't open! I tried to open the download mode and it was okay. The worst part of it there's this grey battery blinking on my screen! I tried to flash it to my stock ROM which is KF1 but it still won't work.
Please I'm a newbie here. If there's someone out there who wants to help me, it will be much appreciated
Thanks!
Mate, you need to post in the sgs2 forum.

I just got a samsung galaxy SII epic touch. like an idiot I went to this forum to try to root it. Now I can't get back to the hboot menu. It just sais that it is downloading and hangs. How can I undo this??? Since then I have rooted the phone. Please help!
Try installing a rom using odin..guess an official rom will be good..this shud work if the phone can go into download mode..

I wish I could but I cannot get to hboot. Every time I try to get to the boot menu it goes into the download kernal mode which does nothing.

So I cannot flash any roms

But if it goes into download mode, install odin on you computer and you should be able to see your phone?
then you install a rom for your phone trough Odin, i notice that you say you got an SGS II this for instanse is the forum for SGS 1
no hboot
ok. but if I do this will it only root my phone? I have already done that. what I need is to stop the phone from going into this download mode instead of going to the hboot. Now I have a rooted phone that will not go into hboot mode. Is there some sort of startup folder that puts me into this mode? Is there a file that I can delete so I can get into hboot when I reboot?
Hi guys,
I have a strange issue. Although the GT-S5570 is working, download mode is working also. When I flashed the original froyo firmware the stock recovery mode was working fine, but when I installed the tass clockwork recovery mode(via Odin), the Home+Power doesnt work. It gets stuck to the samsung logo. I tried Home+Power+Up Volume and I get a "Ramdump" notiifcation. Dont know if someone has a suggestion.
thanks
Thanks to RicardoQ5, I did a little search and while the mobile phone was upgraded to gingerbread, its initial version was FROYO. Just installed the Froyo.tar
