[Q] Kaiser as a cellular modem on Android smartbook? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hello. First of all i would like to say one thing. Im a huge fan of this community and i would like to thank all people involved in xda-developers in any way, especially developers and testers. Keep up the good work. Thanks again.
Ok... Now for my little question.
Im wondering, is it by any chance possible to sync a wm6 based device (kaiser) with a smartbook running on Android 2.2 in order to use my pda as a cellular 3g modem? I have both the phone and a smartbook : Toshiba ac 100 10d. Doesn't work via usb connection, failed with bluetooth aswell and i would like to skip runing android on kaiser aswell as rooting ubuntu 10x to my ac 100 laptop in order to try a different approach. Any hints or suggestions please?

xda mini s and carkit

Hi,
I'm going to buy an xda mini s after seeing my mates, but it would not work with my vauxhall factory-fit carkit, not only did it not share the phonebook over bluetooth like my Nokia 6280 but it also kept disconnecting after about 20 seconds even if you weren't making a call.
From reading this forum i've gathered that the AKU that is out for Windows Mobile 5 will sort the phonebook sharing and possibly sort out the connection issue as well but what I haven't gathered is which rom's do what. I'm not going to ask which rom is best as I can see it's not as simple as that, but if someone could suggest a few roms that might be suitable for an uk o2 sim card and will have the aku. I'm not fussed about it having extra software in, i only want it to work with my carkit and do push mail with exchange 2003 sp2.
Any help you can give me would be appreciated, I have made the effort to read the forums, but I'm a little overwhelmed by the amount of information !!
Cheers
Andy
hi, ive got a bluetooth car kit and dont have no probs, mine doesnt have the capability to share the phone book but i havent had any connection issues. ive flashed the Mr.Clean ROM to my T-mobile UK MDA and seems to be good. it has push e-mail and AKU2. been using it for a few weeks and seems fine. hope this helps a little.

Using the Diamond HSDPA connection on a laptop?

Hello there,
I'm a previous WM device owner, last device was HTC Wizard.
I currently have a Nokia N95 and i'm planning to get the Diamond when its released on T-Mo in a few weeks.
I connect the N95 to the laptop a lot to get internet on the move, can anyone confirm if this is a featrure supported by the Diamond / WM 6.1
I don't recall having this ability on my Wizard, i have to be honest though.. with it being purely GPRS i would never have tried.
I appreciate this is a bit of a noobie question but i've been out of the Windows Mobile scene for a while so things have changed a little.
Thanks in advance.

There is a program that comes as standard in WM6.1 called "Internet Sharing" that allows this... T-Mobile might not though (in the UK, Web'n'Walk Plus/Max do allow tethering, the basic one doesn't though).
Hey l3v5y
Thanks for that, I'm on the W'n'W plus package, so thats all good
Thanks for the quick response!

g1 questions (probably frequently asked:)

Hello,
Hello,
I am thinking about buying myself T-mobile G1. What I need to know before that is:
firstly: is there any way to switch off constant internet connection on G1 as the internet services in my country are quite expensive and I would like to have control over them? I dont really need sync with my google account (I see some other advateges on this phone than "just" that) and would like to use Internet only when i really need it (not when G1 thinks I need
secondly: is there any way to update G1 OS via standard PC? As far as I heard each update weighs some MB, which i prefer to download on my PC and then to G1
I've been looking for answers to my questions over the Internet (xda developers etc) but didn't really find a direct answer.
Would appreciate your time and effort.
Yours Sincerely
updating the os via pc, u have to actually do the SD card method to update ur os... and search xda for the newest one and they include instructions for it.. i just update last night lol

[Q] Connection sharing?

Hi
I've been using HTC phones for years now, always been on O2 and I've always used my various flavours of XDA to connect my laptop to the internet. I am at this very moment using my Polaris via bluetooth to connect to this forum with my laptop, that is my problem.
It it the one function that the Polaris does that I can't make my HD7 do. Am I missing something here? Surely the HD7 can do this, it is a pretty basic function of a phone so I reckon the problem here is the user.
I am currently having to swap my sim card between devices whenever I need to connect to the net with my PC.
I little help here would be very appreciated.

Actually, at this time I dont believe there is any way to tether the HD7 to a PC and if I remember correctly, I believe at this time the bluetooth on the HD7 only works for a headset and nothing else. I may be wrong so Id do a bit more searching but I believe this is what I have read and heard...
Feeling your pain.... My PSTN telephone line is down (taking my broadband with it) so having to stick my sim back in my water damaged HTC HD2 and with a stroke of luck and with the awesome windows controller 'MyMobiler' I can use that as my modem... Was a bit shocked that this was missing with WP7 going after the business (and social) sectors...

Help me choose a minimal android rom that will run skype only.

Hi, I have this old HTC diamond CDMA phone.
It sits pretty useless now, but I had this Idea of turning it into WiFi skypephone?
I've heard that you can put Android on the Diamond, and from there it should be easy.
Anybody's familiar with the procedure?
Also any suggestions as to which android rom for CDMA Diamond to use?
Preferably I'd like to disable all radio (cellular and BT) except WiFi and just run the Skype client on it.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
