Last hope... - HTC Incredible S

Hey guys. So basically everything wrong started with my phone going into a superior boot loop. Tried everything possible to fix it. It's still stuck in a boot loop and after 7 days of not having a phone I said fug it, and sent it to a repair shop to be looked at.
They just called me saying that they have no way of fixing the phone what so ever.
Would an XTC Clip help me fix my phone or am I pretty much up **** Creek without a paddle?

what happens in the boot loop? what did you do before the loop started occuring?

um

Hi,
but if you remove - reinsert the battery, push vol-down and then boot, are you not in the hboot screen, where you can flash radio or roms (or restore factory default) ?
bye

Thanks for the help guys. I just gave up all together went to virgin paid my supertab off in cash, cancelled everything, and than ported over my number and got a new HTC Sensation 4G.
I am going to look around and if it gets repaired I will sell it. If not I'll keep it sitting on top of my desk as a learning experience... A $500.00 learning experience. hahaha

it could be as simple as removing a file off your sd card from what your problem looks like
if you put the pg32img.zip (or whatever its called) on it, delete it and try to boot it up

Return policy on G1's with warranty?

So I got an OTA update the other day from T-Mobile. Applied the update and the phone rebooted. The phone no longer goes past the T-Mobile G1 screen. I tried troubleshooting myself and explained everything to T-Mobile on the phone to Tech Support. They wanted me to troubleshoot as well. I tried booting into recovery. I tried the home+power and the camera+power and the phone just starts and stops at the T-Mobile G1 screen.i know it's probably bricked but was wondering if anyone had any ideas. I asked tech support if I could get a replacement phone being that my G1 is still under warranty, they said no that the phone had to be returned within 14 days after purchasing it. What's the deal with this crap? Any thoughts and answers are much greatly appreciated!
Well a couple options, take it to the store, call t-mobile and tell them to eat your nuts since it was their software that bricked it or google up the corporate number and ***** and ***** till they agree to a replacement, don't curse or they will hang up on you really quickly

Yep everything he said, but also what they told you on the phone is crap. T-mo should replace it even after the 14 days. They did for me, just don't take no for an answer.

Sounds like you got a stupid T-mo rep. Call back and tell them your phone is messed up... as long as you bought it directly from them, they will send you a replacement (minus the battery, sim card, and battery cover), and you will send back your phone (minus the aforementioned parts). Done.

Haha **** that, I know someone that got 3 [wink wink didn't think you'd like me saying your name] you can get your 1 replaced. Just keep asking do not stop. It's not a piece of chocolate its a $300.00 phone first of all and second of all it was they're update. Good luck!
Nah it's cool, it's no hiding that I am on my 3rd g1, I am not ashamed to say i 've bricked, this way I can say I am making sure someone doesn't repeat mine or anyone elses mistakes.
Also mine were all within the 14 day buyer's remorse. Oh and the cutest on xda, I prefer the most handsome, meanest pimp that has ever pimped on this planet, and I got a mean limp. I'm guessing you like it now?

Return policy on G1's with warranty
Ok,so I bought the phone from a private individual but the T-mobile software is what actually bricked my G1. I was sad for about a day and am now getting over it slowly. I am currently using my Samsung SGH-t229 which was the free piece o' crap from T-Mobile. Thanks for all the response guys! I really appreciate all the comments and reading all the funny jokes and all. Anyways...if any of you have any ideas on returning the phone let me know. I keep calling T-Mobile and they say I can't return it and get a new one because I bought the phone from a private individual. Any ideas? Hit me up or let me know. TTYL guys!

Resurrect a toilet dived G1?

I realize this has probably been posted and resolved but I cannot find any solutions yet. So here's the deal:
My fiancee dropped ger G1 into the toilet abot 2 months back or so. I was cleaning and stumbled across it and figured I would check and see if it had dried out okay or not. It is a non rooted black G1 running android 1.6. I tried a coupke of things and figured out I can turn it on now but it goes directly to the bootloader screen. I have ran the DREAIMG.nbh for rc29 and it will update it okay no problems. The issue is that after a soft boot(? Is that the right phrase?) By pushing menu power and call that it boots up...and goes right back into bootloader and tried to run the rc29 update again.
Has anyone else stumbled across this problem and if so how did you solve it? It boots into the factory recovery fine also and will run update.zip files but then once again boots directly to bootloader.
I am trying different things and tweaking here and there because I have a pretty strong feeling this isn't impossible. I'm just overlooking something I'm sure. If this issue has been resolved can someone post the link to the thread or even pm me and give me ideas here. I'm trying to root it since it seems the operating system is shot as is.

the reason it goes into the bootloader is most likely that there is still moisture under the keys .. my friend had the same situation .. the keys were constantly making contact and thus went wherever the keys led .. for instance: a stuck home key would get you into recovery .. a stuck back key gets into bootloader .. it takes quite a lot of effort and patience but if you can completely dry out the insides you should get it functioning again
Also, im pretty sure the G1 goes into the bootloader if there is a hardware failure(like the radio is not responding).
And how the hell did your fiance drop her G1 into the toilet? She better be hot because she sure as hell doesnt seem smart.

Happens to a lot of people...Kind of a rude statement for you to make about his fiance. On another note, OP, did you try burying the G1 in a bowl of rice (uncooked of course) and leaving it for a few days and then trying again. That has never failed me.

+1.... the rice trick usually works as long as you haven't messed around with it too much while it is wet.
make sure you remove the battery, sdcard and sim card so the rice can absorb more water too

Yup, I had a friend that dropped a G1 into a toilet months ago. He took everything apart you can take apart ie battery cover, battery, sim, SD card etc.. and he put it in a bowl of rice for 3 days. It's worked fine ever since..
you could get isopropanol ;D thats pure alcohol, then put the lower side of the g1 into a cup of that and let it dry for ~1 day. if that doesnt work i dont know how to go further ;D
Wrong section.

Double ditto on the rice. Instead of a bowl, though, I recommend a ziplock plastic bag. That way no additional moisture is getting the attention from the rice.
We did this with my wife's old phone, worked like a goddamn charm. I was amazed.
+5 on the rice idea. did that a long time ago with my brothers G1. He jumped into a lake after a discgolf disc. more worried about losing a $20 disc than a $300 phone. (We both pre-ordered the phone and i think thats how much it was.)
To be honest, there really is no point. The fact that its been like 2 months means most of them moisture should be gone. The reason the phone is going into the bootloader is because of a hardware failure. When the phone boots(the G1 screen) it runs hardware diagnostics. If there is a failure(which there is probably due to toilet water corrosion) it will go into the bootloader.
Anyway, forget the g1. She is your fiance ffs. Buy her something nice, like a MT Slide, or a Nexus
Let this be a lesson to all of you that get your phones wet. immediately after they get wet, remove the batteries, and submerge the phone in alcohol. Then put the phone in a ziploc bag with LOTS of silica gel packets. Leave in bag for 2 days.
Another story related on a french G1 forum :
A guy helped his sister to move. Exhausted, he went to the balcony to smoke and take a deep breath. While he was taking his cigarettes out of his pants, he realized he had also hung his G1, which fell from the 4th floor.
Sick of what occured, he went down to get his G1 back. Hopefully and even supernaturally, the screen was intact. Even more, when he tried to turn it on, he saw the G1 screen. It booted normally, and everything was working perfectly !!
Surprising, isn't it ?
That's why the HTC Dream (G1) is Magic (MT3G) !!
Lol I am getting her the mt slide next week lol. And in regards to "she doesn't sound very smart"... My fiancee works in assisted living and doesn't have much downtime. If you really need details(and why would you?) It fell out of her scrub pocket where you'd think it'd be safe at. S*** happens lol no need to say what was said.
My friend who has helped me rescue my phone a couple of times in my early rooting days recommended the rice bowl idea. Furthermore the phone doesn't boot into the G1 screen then to bootloader. Its going straight to bootloader. If its a radio problem is it possible to go thru and rename the current G1 radio to update.zip and flash it in recovery? Then the danger spl(which I have all saved on my pc from my rooting my G1). Thoughts? Ideas?
And thanks for the help guys btw

The rice trick won't help you anymore as there should be no moisture left after all that time. If you can disassemble it, clean it's guts with alcohol to get rid of shorts and it should probably be fine

Hey dude, sorry about the "she doesn't sound very smart." I was just trying to make a joke but I now realize that it was pretty rude. No need to explain. Also, when i said that, I didn't consider the fact that girls need to sit down to pee.

Second replacement phone - how long til they send a new model?

How long you think it's going to take for them to just send a new phone -_-. I'm tired of having to unroot, clear it and send it back -_-.

I just dropped the call from them to try and get this back to stock.
They don't know it was rooted or nothing.

It's because you did the factory reset through the phone menu, instead of doing it through CWM. Go to this thread, download the file there and flash it:

Hey I just had my second replacement arrive and when I tried to activate had some problems, so I called em up and got a cool gal who not only help me set it up but asked how I was happy with the service. When I said I am very happy with Verizon and been with them for over 15 years but very unhappy with the phone Im stuck with now for almost 2 more years, she said well if your not happy we can do a managers exception where you can purchase a new phone at the discounted price plus $20 for early upgrade and start your two year contract from that day, I said hell ya, so, for $249.99 plus $50. tax and $20. early upgrade im getting the new Samsung Nexus tomorrow. It was so easy to do, call and ask for the mangers exception and say you cant stand your phone. Not only do I have a certified new replacement which I get to keep as a back up I also get a new one at a discounted cost. Verizon did away with their if it breaks three times for the same reason we will send u a different model, so you just have to call and insist on a new one, threaten to walk away and say good luck getting your phone or early term fees from me. Good Luck

HTC First Bricked!

Alright so my gf got this phone as an upgrade from an iPhone 3GS because it was 99 cent and she wanted Android. The phone is completely stock with the facebook features turned off. Last night it wouldn't cut on because she thought it had a dead battery. Upon waking up and checking it this morning, after being on the charger all night, the phone will not boot. The most I can get it to do is boot into HBOOT but it freezes when you select factory reset and it will now load to the FB symbol that comes up when you first cut it on but it freezes there as well. I have found no way to get it to boot up fully.
Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone have a way to fix this issue?

First I head of this. Now since you got this for $.99 you must be on a contract. Does ATT have a warranty? I would assume at least 90 days even with no extended warranty, so you can just go into a store and get a new one seeing as the phone came out in mid April.
Being as you can access hboot, I would assume it is a softbrick and that you may be able to flash something if you wish.
Easiest path would be for a replacement

Thanks for the quick response. I was thinking the same thing of taking it back to AT&T to get it replaced. Also, though I am able to get into HBOOT and FASTBOOT, once there the phone only restarts HBOOT if I select BOOTLOADER. As well, I have tried the RUU for the new update but once it tries to reboot the phone to put it into BOOTLOADER it freezes on a black screen and the RUU updater app encounters an error while trying to reboot into BOOTLOADER. The nearest AT&T store is about 15 miles away and I don't really want to have to drive there to get the phone replaced but it is looking more and more like that is my only option because I can't get the phone fixed any other way.

I know the phone only cost you "99 cents" but are you really worried about wasting time and gas driving there? you could make it worth your while:
This phone is worth $450 unlocked. Go to the store and get it replaced ASAP or you'll be sitting on a very fancy 99 cent paper weight or a useless $450 phone, which ever way you want to see it.
Get the phone replaced and sim unlock it from ATT with the instructions in this forum. Sell the phone on Craigslist for $100-350, use that money to get an Atrix 4G/Pantech Burst/ etc, any phone around $100 and keep the $99-$349 profit OR just have a brand new working phone. Either way you see it it's worth the 15 mile drive so don't lag on getting this phone replaced.

Alright so yeah went ahead and drove to the AT&T store only to be told we would need to go to the warranty center if we wanted it replaced. So they called the warranty center, before sending us over there, to see if they had one to give us as replacement but it turns out they didn't even have one there to give us a replacement. So then they told us that the only option now is to call the warranty number and have one mailed out. Meaning my gf now has to wait until Monday at the latest before she will have a working phone. Or they offered to let her PAY for a loaner phone to use until she got a replacement. Needless to say that I am beyond pissed with AT&T and their lack of willing to help a long term customer get her phone replaced without having to jump through hoops and wait days without a phone because of a problem that wasnt even my gf's fault in the first place.

Dang man, that blows but really it's not that bad to wait a few days. Do you have an old sim card phone you can use? You can pick something up on CL for a few dollars to hold you until monday. My side income is selling phones and sometimes I even sell the phone I'm using right now and go back to an old w810i candybar phone I have lying around. Take it as a rude awakening to how dependent we are on smartphones now a days. Just get the phone into the repair center. The sooner you do the sooner you get a working phone back.

Frustrated with Note 4

So, I've been using this wonderful device for a while now, since early October. I've finally got it set up the way I like it and all. Now, I'm just flashing ROMs to see which I prefer. Just a few hours ago, I decided to revert to the T-Mobile ANK3 (or AN-whatever) stock ROM because on Lollipop 5.0.1+ the battery dies much quicker than I'd like it to. Yet, that ROM would constantly either:
A) Die whenever it wanted to
B) Freeze and just not respond
C) Require a battery pull
D) Send me to D/L mode with "mmc_read fail".
So I decided to revert back to stock 5.0.1 because I was tired of all the bugs I was encountering with 4.4.4.
Now, every hour or so, the phone dies and gets stuck on the splash screen (with the obvious SEAndroid not enforcing + Set Warranty Bit). Or if it isn't that, the phone just outright freezes when I'm using a light application (i.e. Kik Messenger).
I'm starting to think that my eMMC is dying, because the phone was not acting like this when I first got it in early October. Every once in a while D/L mode keeps repeating my fears. I cannot send it in to Samsung because I already voided my warranty, and I am a prepaid subscriber on T-Mobile. (So, no, T-Mobile will not help me, likely.)
Any ideas on what's happening, or what I should do?
First thing I would do Is flash a different kernel
Odin back to stock and reroot the device. Sounds like something got messed up.

Although I really don't like it (because TW is now a good thing as opposed as to how bad it was on the S3), I'll settle with it. It's not so bad.

I bought the phone second hand, and it is out of warranty. I can't fork over money right now, as seeing how replacing the eMMC chip is probably expensive. I'll probably find some hackjob way of finding a replacement, or just live with it. I also don't think reflashing the bootloader will help.
Each time I power on the phone, it seems that it keeps getting worse each time. I get the "ddi: mmc_read fail" message more often, and off a cold boot, the phone will not actually boot and I have to battery pull like 2 times before it actually boots. Gee, looks like I'm screwed.
Good news...since they know that the eMMC chip is bugging out, they'll do a free repair. Success! Now, time to go into the repair shop and hope they accept my reference ticket, since I'll be a walk in.
I can't call right now, seeing as my phone has difficulty doing ANYTHING now...
