Hi all, I am running rooted stock gingerbread 2.3.4 and unlocked Bootloader and wanted to change to CM7.
My recovery image is RA 2.2.1,
HBOOT-0.35.0017
MICROP-0c15,
Bandbase version 32.41.00.32U_5.08.00.04.
My question is that are there any special methods of changing to the different ROM or do i just download the ROM and flash it directly.
Thanks
Do a Nandroid and then within Recovery, do a factory wipe, then flash CM7 and then flash GAPPS.
Just download the ROM (any ROM) boot into recovery nandroid, wipe (usually at least 2X I do 5X) and temasek system wipe (I do 3X but only one is usually plenty) then flash the ROM and gapps and you'll be good.
Hey guys, thanks for the info. Will do that. Thanks for the help

I've tried to install teamhacksung's ICS Bulid 6,7&8 but all dosen't work.
"assert failed: getprop...... E"Error in /sdcard...... (Status 7) Installation aborted."
I've tried to install CM7 before it but also encountered status 7.
I've tried to modify updater-script but encountered status 7 again.
Some informations:
Model: Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000
Region: Hong Kong
Using ROM: Onecosmic's ICS Beta
Flashing way: By flashing zip in CWM. Followed instructions "Coming from onecosmic's ICS build?"
Thank you for all your support!

What's meaning by GB? What about the Nandroid backup? Will I lost them after I Flash a stock ROM?
Hi I saw your message. I can help you, so I did something usefull today. XD
1 First of al you flash cyanogenmod 7.1 (GB=Gingerbread) don't forget to wipe dalvic cache and wipe cache partition and do factory reset.
than you go to follow site:from step 2 and furter
You have to scroll down till you see the discription
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/cm9-cyanogenmod-9-for-galaxy-s/
succes
I think I had the same problem. Earlier versions of onecosmics change the device name. After this I couldn't downgrade back to CM7, had to reflash the whole phone in ODIN.
I would suggest installing a Samsung Gingerbread rom first using odin, you can flash JVS rom. Root it using CF-Root kernel. Then install CM7 using CMW, then follow the instructions on how to install ICS from CM7.

it doesnt matter if you flash jvt or jvs, basically its the bootloaders that matter and u need GB b/l (gingerbread). Here you go...
1. flash XXJVT using this link here http://androidflip.com/how-to-insta...ad-xxjvt-update-on-samsung-galaxy-s-gt-i9000/
2. root your firmware using this link http://androidflip.com/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-s-android-2-3-5-xxjvt/
3. go to recovery mode after rooting is done, then a) wipe data/factory reset, b)wipe cache partition, c) go to advanced>wipe dalvik cache, and flash your rom.

not a noob, just a newb to xda. a thanks would be appreciated
Thank you for all your help!
But one more Q
My friend told me that flashing CM7.1 should be working with CWM 5 (sth like that).
Is it real?

you mean flashing cm7.1 through cwm5? i dont think there should be any issues with that, depends actually on what rom u were. if you were using cwm5 whilst on ICS rom, then i suggest flash a GB based ROM first, root it and then ul have cwm 3.0.0.5. then go ahead and flash cm7.1 (which i personally dont like)
cheers!

You will always have that problem coz the ROMs you flashed requires GB. so go flash GB first before you install CWM and custom ROMs..

it should be 2.3.4 before you installing CWM
HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED:
1. YOU NEED TO FLASH YOUR PHONE TO GINGERBREAD 2.3.4
2. AFTER FLASHING STOCK ROM, ROOT IT!
3. INSTALL CLOCK WORK MOD
In this part, it is now the installation of your CUSTOM MADE ROM
1. Wipe Dalvick Cache
2. Wipe Data/Reset
3. Wipe Cache
4. Install Zip from sd card then locate the zip file
5. YOUR GOOD TO GO!
BTW: Always wait for the rom to load, it may take awhile to load if it is installed for the first time
Like If this helped you THANKS

Hi Everyone,
I have the Samsung galaxy p1000 tablet which is rooted and running stock firmware version 2.3.3 ....i have rooted it using doomslord toolkit....
.....I want to install cm9 on my tab....but i want to make sure everything is good before i start doing anything.......
i tried downloading overcome but download stopped everytime.......
i have downloaded overcome kernel 4.0.0.tar though.....
i want clockwork mod recovery on my tab.....how can i do that?
i am on stock firmware so do i need to restock it through overcome......or flashing the overcome kernel would do it all....
should i flash the overcome kernel only......is it feasible to use that kernel for stock firmware.....will the kernel convert tab into ext4 thereby making it possible to flash cm9
please help me over this......
Thanks..
I did that before, flash the kernel, wait for the conversion to ext4, reboot and flash cyanogen mod. For me it worked for installing AOKP mtd.

Thanks salahmed......but one more question...was ur stock firmware rooted when u flashed the kernel cause that's what is bothering me...and how do i return to my original device clean firmware once i am using cm9....
Thanks once again...

You can always restock using overcome stock safe.

I have some free time today and so i will flash the rom today.....
Are these the steps i should follow???
1. Flash the overcome kernel only without restocking....
2. let it convert the system into ext4....and let it reboot after it...
3. Then shut down the tab and press volume down and power buttons at the same time till the clockworkmod recovery shoots up....
4. Then navigate to ' install from zip' and select AOKP BUILD 37(decided to flash AOKP) zip file....let it flash and then flash kernel(which kernel should i flash????? or does the AOKP zip contain it and hence it should be automatically flashed)
5. Then flash gapps.....
6. when it's done ....reboot
questions....
when should i wipe dalvik cache and data( before flashing AOKP zip or after that)
?????
also i read somewhere that i can revert back to original samsung firmware by flashing original samsung firmware via odin with "repartion checked".....
After flashing overcome kernel go to recovery wipe cash, dalvic cash, factory reset format data, then flash AOKP, the kernel is included 'z image' , then reboot system let it to complete booting, then reboot recovery again and flash gapps.
And that's right you can revert back with re partition but I did not try it.

hi,
I used to have darky rom 10.4.2 on a Samsung galaxy S .
wanted to move to cynagenmod 7.2 stable, but when i was flashing it using clockworkmod 5.x,
the phone has got into a boot loop.
been searching over a few hours now, nothing comes close to fixing the issue.
can you share some experience here and help.
regards
raghav..
If you can't acces CWM, you can try to flash some other kernel for CM7.2, if won't help, the only way is to download some official ROM from samfirmware.com, flash it using Odin, then ROOT it and try to flash CM7.2 again...
Do you have a backup (Nandoid or titanium backup )? That's important for all following actions.
If not, pull out the battery and try to get into cwm of darky ROM. Otherwise flash the resurrection ROM (via Odin) from darky. After that do a backup and erase all data (wipe data, cache and dvailk cache). Flash a 7.2 ROM (like miui) or kernel to get the 5.xx cwm and finally restore your backup
If u get any issuses, repeat with a stock ROM which is already rooted.

Hi all, so I'm currently looking for a way to go back to stock Touchwiz (4.0.3) from CM10.
I'm currently running CM10 and i do have a Nandroid backup from when I was on Touchwiz (and running PhilZ safe kernel), but the thing is I've been running CM10 for a few months and have a lot of new data stored on my phone.
So instead of backing up anything new and just restoring my backup, could i just flash a stock firmware through ODIN or CWM on top of CM10? Or if I tried that would I have to wipe anyway?
Thanks any help appreciated.
going back from custom to stock causes boot loops and a wipe will be necessary. so better do a nandroid backup of th current rom, then when in stock rom, use tb to restore data using the nandroid backup.

Ok this thread is dead but I will have to revive it now because I wanna do the same thing.
I have been on Cm10 and wanted to go to Alliance ROM today. So like a complete idiot I flashed pre-rooted KJ1 gingerbread ROM from Dr.Ketan over my CM10 and got stuck in a boot loop. Luckily had a nandroid backup and now restoring as I type.
What is the correct process to go from CM to stock GB or ICS?
Any and all help is appreciated
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Kaushik
EDIT: I flashed the pre-rooted GB ROM because I wanted to do a full wipe and then flash over to stock ICS and then to Alliance JB ROM.

Either flash using PC odin. after flashing if on GB, boot into recovery and do a factory reset. If on ICS, install a safe kernel (eg,Philz) and reboot recovery and do a factory reset,
OR
Flash a custom GB or ICS rom using recovery after all wipes and formats (system, data, cache)
