Hey all!
i have some questions to this app:
http://www.cyrket.com/package/org.zenthought.flashrec
http://www.ryebrye.com/blog/2009/08/16/android-rooting-in-1-click-in-progress/
1. does it works on T-Mobile D G1 with any FW? or also only with RC29 or RC7?
2. is flashing "HardSPL" or "DangerSPL" a musthave or can i use the original SPL (iam scarry to flah SPL)?
3. when i restore the backup do i have the full original t-mobile D delivery version of my G1?
4. how i restore the original recovery.img
5. if needed, how do i restore the original SPL
6. do i need to flash the Radio manual or do the apk make this
7. is this the right order?
- download apk
- install apk
- download CyanogenMod v4.0.1
- save as update.zip on SD root
- execute apk
- create backup
- flash Cyanogen recovery 1.4
- reboot into the new
- flash CyanogenMod v4.0.1
- Wipe
- boot G1
- download new Radio
- copy Radio as Radio.zip to SD root
- update Radio via Cyanogen recovery 1.4
- done
- boot G1 (now i have a rooted G1 with CyanogenMod v4.0.1)
please correct me if the is anything wrong or if i missed any step!!
iam "noob" with android - but i hope not for a long time
As a N00b you should at least read the Sticky posts, like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=528334 this one...
It's called:
"Don't Start A New Thread - Dream Questions & Answers Here!"
All questions should be posted in the Q&A Section. I'm not too familiar with the 1-click rooting since it's been out for less than 72hrs so from what I've heard the 1-click root flashes cyan's recovery for you so all you have to do is this:
-Download and flash newest radio
-Download and flash Hard SPL
-Wipe
-Download and flash CM v4.0.1
If you do it in this order I'm 99.99999% sure you won't brick your phone, but once again please post all future question in the Q&A section

Yes, this app worked perfectly for me ( cuz I dun wanna waste my time doing all the porcess of pulling the firmware back to RC29 ). If u have the latest radio, then just execute the .apk, turn off your phone right after doing all the required process from that app ( back up current img then Flash the 1.4 img from Cyanogen I remember ), then go into recovery mode and you have the newest recovery img. (Remember to put the CyanogenModv4.0.1 to your SD first). Then Wipe and Flash the update, and you're done
and it works without flashing SPL????

hard spl will not brick your phone. it is needed to flash roms from other regions than yours. hard spl is a good thing to have. also with it you can flash nandroid back ups and you can change your splash screen to further personalize your dream. enough said... go download it. flash it. if you have to wipe, then wipe. if you don't like wiping then you should not have rooted in the first place.
but to use this tool have id need to flash the SPL or works it with the original SPL too? in the manual and one the youtube video- there is no info about a need to flash the SPL.
all i want to know is:
can i just install this app, flash the new radio, run the backup, flash recovery, flash CFW, and iam done or not
yes you can do that. afterwards i would recommend flashing the hard spl.
you do not have to flash it, but it would be a good thing.

thanks, should i flash the radio befor i try to root my G1 with the 1-click rooting? or after i flashed the custom FW?
I used the "1-click root"
I followed all the steps and my phone is working fine, but how can you tell if its rooted?
Also, if it is rooted and I wanted to install the most current cyanogen ROM, do I have to install the new radio and SPL files?
Thanks in adv for putting up with my N00Bness.
what build do you have now? rc33? i would first update the radio. i would not mess with the newer spl as it has been known to brick phones. also did you install cynogen's recovery image? turn phone off then hold power button and home key when you turn it on to put you back into recovery image. it should say cynogen recovery 1.4 on top. it will have a number of options on the bottom nandroid backup, restore nandroid etc. if that cynogen"s recovery image is on the phone its rooted. after you flash the latest radio, i would flash jf 1.51 build then cynogens latest build. i heard the going to cynogens latest build will cause a bootloop if your not coming from another modded build.

To tell if the phone is rooted, download terminal emulator from the market and type su at the prompt. If the phone is rooted, the prompt should go from a $ to a #. If not, you will get a permission denied error message. If that is the case, probably go the old fashion way of rooting
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=548924
As far as the SPL and radio, you don't need the danger SPL (haykuro's) but you will need to engineering SPL or hard SPL to install custom ROMs. As far as the radio, you want to latest radio to improve calls, bluetooth, etc.
hi im also new..
i did the 1 click root too. i did the back up, then flashed the 1.4. then the nandroid backup, then wiped the data, then flashed cyanogens 4.0.1. so im pretty sure im rooted.. and everything works too! except myfaves and the native im app.
but whats this about the radio? do i have to update that? i havent messed with the radio at all.. what are the dangers in this? if any?
and i haave no clue what the hell spl is lol

Hello everyone.
I have done a lot of reading and searching regarding rooting a G1. There are so many guides and resources out there I was wondering if you guys could point me to the best (safest?) way to do it.
I have been thinking of rooting it for months due to the benefits I can get once I have done it but the thought of bricking it has been stopping me from doing it. I want to get it over with now and would appreciate if you guys can point me to the best guide and the best rom (I know there is many, I would like speed, stability and some nice features would be cool). I have a G1, I live in the UK and it is supplied by T-Mobile. I keep it up to date with the OTA updates so I think I will have to downgrade which I believe is shown in most guides? If there is any info you guys need, please say.
I would be really thankful if I got some help, it's not something I want to do without proper knowledge (which all of you have). Is it easy enough to do if I follow the instructions and make sure my battery is charged enough?
Also, can we in the UK flash the radio, is that meant to be tampered with, what are the pros and cons of doing that?
Thank you so much.
EDIT -----------------------------
Please look at post #6, I made a list of what I think I need to do.
I would suggest finding the 1-click root to make it easy for you. Then, flash the 1.6 HTC image like all builds based off of Cyanogen's build environment require now and then flash @wesgarner's build for the fastest most stable build available.
Here's how to root your phone... nice and simple....
The one click root doesn't work if you've upgraded your phone to the OTA 1.6 update.
So the old instructions would be a safe bet since i don't know if you have 1.5 or 1.6.
Follow these instructions: http://www.myhangoutonline.com/2009/11/20/how-to-root-your-g1/
Then upgrade your radio and SPL from here: http://www.myhangoutonline.com/2009/11/22/upgrade-radio-recovery-spl/
Then if you want to upgrade to the newest CM build do this:
Before you install the Cyanogenmod 4.2.7.1 ROM you need to install the HTC 1.6 Dev Rom first.
HTC took it off their website, i have it uploaded on my site...
do this: ( This is for HTC Dream (G1) )
CLEAR YOUR EXT PARTITION or REPARTITION YOUR CARD to get rid of any Incompatible files.
Download CM 4.2.7.1 -> http://www.myhangoutonline.com/downloads/?did=17
Download HTC Dream Image 1.6 -> http://www.myhangoutonline.com/downloads/?did=6
Place them both on the root of your SDCard.
Reboot your phone into recovery mode...
1. WIPE
2. Install HTC Dream Image
3. Hit Reboot when it's done (and keep an eye on the phone!)
4. you will see the little picture with an arrow (radio installation), WHEN YOU SEE THE PHONE REBOOT HOLD THE HOME KEY. It should reboot right back into recovery.
5. Now install the CM ROM
6. Reboot and you're done...
Hope that helps!

Thank you all for the information and links.
I have been doing a lot more reading today and think I might go with Dwang's rom. From what I understand (to do it the quick way) I need to revert my G1 back to Cupcake (RC7 for europe?) from Donut 1.6. Then Download the recovery flasher and flash a recovery image, do I use Amon Ra's? Do I then load the rom, then the theme afterwards? I hear people mentioning the radio, is it a necessity for the G1 that I mess with the radio? Is it easy to brick the phone doing it this way?
Thanks again for the help and understanding .
After watching this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCG9XhFmoEw
Could you guys tell me if this would work?
1. Format my SDCard. Transfer the old android (RC7?) image, Amon Ra's recovery image, Dwerg's rom and a nice theme made for the rom to the SD card.
2. Can I use the telnet thing to flash the Aman Ra recovery image?
3. Power off.
4. Power on holding the camera button and the power button and then downgrade my version. Reboot.
5. Turn on and set up my google info. Press enter twice and type "telnetd" and press enter. Proceed to the market and download the telnet app.
6. Run the app, and type in what's needed to flash the new recovery image. Again, can I use Aman Ra's? I'm unsure what to type but I will try and figure it out.
7. Power off.
8. Power on holding the Home and power keys, which should bring me to the new recovery image.
9. If I am flashing Dwerg's do I need to flash 1.6 first like you need to do for CM? Or is that a CM only thing? Flash the rom.
That should be it? Would doing it that way work ok? Less chance of bricking? There was no mention of radio flashing or anything.
Hopefully you guys can help me out.
Hi guys,
The power button on my nexus one died, and I tried to get the phone replaced by htc singapore.. but all efforts were futile. So they replaced the "Rigid FLex" jacket for free and gave me back the phone..
I dont really have any complaints, other than the power button still feels flimsy and I dont trust it, since it causes a lot of inconvenience.
NOW, can I use the volume key or trackball to wake the phone up ?
Would any of these buttons Die like the power button (are they equally flimsy ? )
Ive been reading on custom-roms which will add trackball-wake-up option..
-Could you point me to the most stable rom? (Im running froyo frf91)
-If rooting is required, could you point me to a newbies guide to rooting..
Thank you

Thanx..
I did use the search button, but it gave me tonns of threads, with a 100 pages in each..
So I had to start this thread.
My phone is unlocked.. (sim-free)..
There is no SIM-locked Nexus in existence, as mentioned multiple times. "Unlocked" stands for "Unlocked bootloader", doesn't have anything to do with SIM. Yours is locked, since you just got it and never unlocked it.
I suggest you read the Wiki instead of continuing this thread, read all the guides, use 1-click root application and DO NOT use ROM Manager. Learn to install the custom recovery yourself, and to install ROMs using the recovery. Everything is written in the Wiki.
The most stable yet heavily customized Froyo ROM would probably be Enomther's, which I personally use.

Thanks for the clarification.
Hi, i was reading and stumbled on Softroot.
I cannot find more info on it..
Its apparently, temporary rooting.. like jailbreaking..
Can I do a softroot to achieve the track-ball wakeup ?
Use Universal Androot.
There is no "temporary rooting", and rooting isn't equal to jailbreaking, it's a different thing, done for different purposes. Rooting is permanent, otherwise it's worthless. Having 1 session of root access (until reboot) doesn't accomplish anything, unless all you want to do is delete some system application or something of the sort.
@jack_R1
Hi, I used the 1Click Androot app to Root my device. Im backing up apps and settings using titanium backup.
My next step is to flash the custom rom.
Im deciding between Enomthers 2.11.3 NOT Pre_Themed ROM, and Nightly's CM6 for Nexus one..
So to clarify things, I need to
1 rename the Custom rom to Update.zip and paste it to the Root of SD card.
2 Rename the Amon recovery image to recomevry.img and paste to root of SD.
3 Turn on the phone while holding Volume Down
4 Select "BOOTLOADER" from the menu
5 Select "RECOVERY" from the menu
6 Select "Flash update.zip" or "Flash ZIP file"
7 Turn off verification, if such option is presented
8 Select your downloaded ROM image
9 Wait for the flash to finish successfully, if it didn't - do not continue!
10 Return to main recovery menu
11 Select "Wipe"
12 Select "Wipe data / factory reset"
13 Select "Wipe Dalvik cache"
14 Return to main recovery menu
--> Reboot the phone
?
Is there anything missing? please lemme know. I wanna do this asap.
Also, Im already updated to Froyo Radio (v4.06...) so I do no figit with radio .. correct?
-Also, when do I configure SpareParts? (before or after flashing) ?
-What is the difference between pre-themed black text and pre-themed white text? (black notification bar with white text on top)?
Thanks!
You got some things confused.
1. No need to rename it. Using custom recovery lets you flash anything with any name.
2. Since you rooted using 1-click root, you don't have a recovery yet. You need to flash it before you reboot to it. Read and execute: Nexus One Wiki / Recovery Images / Amon_Ra's Recovery / using flash_image method. Link for your convenience. You could also go to Developer section and download the latest 1.8.0.1 Amon_Ra's recovery instead of 1.7.0.1 in the Wiki. I'll update the Wiki to give a choice between the two.
3. Continue your list till the end.
Nothing needed for the radio, if you're already on 4.06.
Spare Parts will appear only after flashing the ROM.
Pre-Themed black text is regular, white text is for black notification bar - just as you wrote.
Personally, I run Enomther's since Froyo is out. Before that I was using CM. You might try them both and see which you like more.
Well, thanks for the reply.. Ill look into it after the ADB hurdle.
Presently, Im stuck at the ADB step..
I got the android sdk package, got nexus one drivers.. but for whatever reason, it wont show my device in cmd prompt..
I have pretty much memorised the adb for beginers guide.. but no luck..
(Im on Win Xp)
This is turning out to be a pain in the rear end..
You don't need ADB to flash recovery.
Follow the guide I've pointed you to.
Return to ADB once you're already on the custom ROM, it won't run away.
Flashing the recovery image was quite a task!
Luckily I googled and stumbled on a thread where YOU mentioned to download and install BusyBox.
So yes, Ive flashed it finally..
Im downloading the Enomthers ROM now.. slow net connection.. will load it in a while if it allows.
Thanx a bunch!
hi..
Done installing custom rom.. it was pretty staright forward once recovery img was flashed.
I would like to add some info, for someone who stumbles on this.
In recovery options,
For backup/Restore.. when you select Nand+Ext, and end up getting 'Error...Run nandroid-mobile.sh', press back to goto the main menu, toggle USB MS (mass storage) on, plug it to the computer, delete the nandroid folder, and try again.
If you still get the error, delete nandroid folder, and this time select 'Nand backup only'. if succesful, proceed to copy the nandroid folder to your computer.
So far Ive installed themed enothmer rom.. and its decent.
Will customize it tomo..
For the time-being, ive noticed one issue/bug .. the LED light blink interval is too quick even on selecting 'Slow'.
Thanx Jack!
You're welcome.
Thanks for reminding about the need for busybox to execute chmod and such. Added to Wiki instructions.
Hi,
Now that Ive successfully flashed a custom rom, and its working fine..
I noticed an update to enomthers rom. (v2.12.2)
I want to flash this rom, so do I have to re-flash recovery? and then flash this new rom?
Or just flash the new rom? but then do I wipe/factory reset and wipe Dalvik cache of the device?
Actually restoring the data (especially mesages and apps) is quite an issue, it takes a while (considering im on EDGE)..
also, is it recommended to make an apps2sd partition on SD card? I did get low memory warning on internal memory.
and last, I just want the black status bar and 'some' custom icons (not all), so is there a way to install these on otherwise stock looking enomther rom?
I know they are some noobish questions but I need answers..
Thanx
You don't touch the recovery once it's flashed, as long as it's working. You just flash the ROM using the recovery that you already installed. And don't do any wipes - so you won't have to restore the data.
Apps2EXT (EXT2 partition for apps on SD card) is great and highly recommended.
You can apply themes, simple as complex, using morphs.
Hi Guys,
Need your opinions again.
I was extremely satisfied with Enomthers 2.14.4 rom, till the update notifiation appeared.
Ive waited long enough for an update from Enom, but he has his reasons, and I dont see an update in the pipeline.
So I need to get a new rom & it should have have trackball wake up/vol keys wakeup (cant afford to break the power key).
Also Gingerbread, and Apps2SD (+).
Now Ive come across two roms,
a) Nightly's CM rom
b) GRI40, system dump + unmodified stock n rooted rom.
So which one should I get?
Also whats the difference between nightlys CM rom and CM rom ?
Also, I see I need to update the radio, so this has to be done before flashing rom or after?
I have flashed AMON RA's recovery 2.0, do I need to flash anything else?
Remove the update notification and return to being happy.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Stock GRI40 doesn't have any mod for trackball/volume wake. So for now you're out of options - you have to use a custom compiled AOSP Gingerbread, which point you towards CM7/SuperGinger/Leo's Ginger/etc. Currently none of those are as stable as Enom's (I've tried 2 of them).
I can also suggest flashing FOTAKill (use Google to find, learn and download) and keeping with Enom's. That's what I'm doing now. And after a brief experience with MyTouch 4G, I'm seriously considering flashing Froyo Desire port.
Thanks for the prompt replies. Really appreciate it.
For now I can live with enomthers rom. Its not giving any issues. Its got everything I need, other than gingerbread.
the Gingerbread update is glued to the taskbar, and doesnt pop-up at all (doesnt intervene/hinder ) in regular operations.
So ill patiently wait as well
thanks again guys!
how do i get my nexus one back to stock absolutely every like out of the box stock i ahve the T-Mo version
Download:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Pas...le_WWE_2.16.1700.1_FRG33_MFG_Shipment_ROM.zip
Extract it, rename the extracted file passimg.zip and copy to the root of the SD card.
Also download:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Pas...RG83 OTA update, possibly from FRF91 too).zip
Rename it to update.zip and copy it to the root of yout SD card.
Power off the phone, hold Vol- and power on. It will boot to the bootloader, detect the passimg file and ask if you wish to install.
After it's done (I think it'll reboot itself, if not, select recovery), power off and power on with Vol- held again. This time dont install the passimg.zip, and choose recovery.
At the Android & warning triangle, hold the power button and press Vol+
Choose install update.
Voilà, a completely up to date, stock phone.
thank you very much for your help!! i was searching through the forums and there was like 20 million ways to do it non specific and i found myself running in circles
Have I bricked my phone???
I followed the instructions above (completely) and now, I do not seem to have a recovery screen...
The phone boots up but because I get FC constantly, I tried to redo these instructions and cannot get a recovery screen. I get the bootloader which re-installs the Passimg.zip, then nothing but an exclamation mark when I try and get recovery.
I did a data wipe B4 as well as a davlik wipe.
Am I done??
Previously CM6.1.0
RA 2.0

Hi Rusty
Would this work with a phone on ERE36B, kernel 2.6.33 hi-apk?
I have updated my phone which was on Vodafone and now I am FRG83D, but my brothers N1 has the ERE36B version, so just wandering if the steps you outlined above will work on his phone.
Cheers
Yes it will, he can be off the Voda build by copying the above.
Hi Rusty
So is the ERE36B, kernel 2.6.33 hi-apk a Voda build?
I didn't think it was but I know nothing. So the steps will work even on the ERE36B build?
Cheers
Oh yeah, it's not a Voda build, that's EPF30 I was thinking of.
It will still work though. Hell, to be honest, there is an update .zip from ERE36B => FRF91, so that would be less hassle.
sorry for noob question.
Will this re-lock my nexus one (return an unlocked bootloader to default) ? I'm about to send my N1 to HTC for repairs/replacement (my camera is not focusing on distant objects, works on close-ups only) and unlocking voids the warranty

So there's no reason to revert even to stock rom, right? Warranty is void, period.
Any advice on this matter? Maybe someone had experience dealing with HTC and can share some thought?

I have sent 2 phones into HTC with unlocked bootloader. I have not had any problems getting a replacement phone. Just give it a try.
I did return them to stock. Stock rom, stock recovery.
Edit: I tried it and it worked! So no need to answer but thanks anyway
Hi,
I wonder if this will also work for my phone?
Where am I at the moment? I have a Nexus One SLCD (Vodafone Europe) with AmonRa 1.8.0.1 Recovery and FRG83 installed. Bootloader is locked. No root. Now I get the update notification for FRG83D but can't install it. The N1 reboots and stops with a verification error. Now I think that I can't install FRG83D because of the AmonRa recovery.
As I don't have the need to install Custom ROMs (tried CM 6.0 but didn't like it so went forward to FRG83 Stock ROM) and still have no need for root I just want an N1 that just works with OTA from Google => absolute Stock (recovery and ROM) without waiting for Vodafone
So I wonder if that method descriped in this thread will bring me to my goal of a stock recovery and stock ROM on my N1 SLCD. Does FRG33 work with SLCD? I had a "broken"/dark display in recovery and ROM because of AMOLED/SLCD once and would like to not have that problem again

Hi Rusty
With regards to update .zip from ERE36B => FRF91, when I go to this link from another thread, I get the 404 Not Found page. The link I am using is:
android.clients.google.com/packages/passion/signed-passion-ota-43546.cc653ee4.zip
Any other links I can try to get the update.zip ERE36B => FRF91?
Cheers

You can grab the update at this link: http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Pas...signed-passion-FRG83D-from-FRG83.ecb21b75.zip
Place it to your sdcard root and boot into RA recovery, where you would flash from zip
Never mind. I have found the link for the download.
signed-passion-ota-43546.cc653ee4.zip from a search on the net.

The exclamation mark IS the recovery...the stock one that is.

Thank you for the quick answer...Me bad
It's All good...I put this stock ROM on my phone with update to FRG83D...installed RA 2.00 to make a nandroid of it, then restored my lovely CM 6.1 back. When gingerbread comes out, I'll just restore the stock ROM and install update (until Cyanogen comes out with a ROM)
Thanks again
Well, I have come across a problem. My brothers N1 has an unlocked bootloader. The N1 is running ERE36B, so the passimg file is not working.
Does the N1 have to be unrooted so we can get the FRF91 build on the phone?
Sorry if it's a noob question and all, but any help would be appreciated.
Cheers
Unlocked bootload makes no difference.
However, there is another way, extract the .img files from the passimg.zip and use fastboot to flash the system.img and boot.img.
Hi,
I have the official (stock) WWW Froyo ROM in my Legend. It was OTA updated two days ago. I only noticed today that the rooted version is now available, and I would like to install it
Is there any way to downgrade the HBOOT?
I tried to downgrade RUU with the goldcard method, but when I try to flash with RUU version 1.31, it says "wrong bootloader version", or something like that.
I mean, I cannot root my phone because I can't downgrade to a rootable RUU, because of the new HBOOT.
Any suggestion?
I have similar problem, I was updating the hboot, now I ended up with f*** official froyo rom, and no root access. Can't even install visionary r14 from modaco, for acheving temp root

If it allows you to go in to recovery mode and then "flash zip", it may work.
Anyway, I don't believe temproot allows you to access the option to flash a zip.
If you are successful, let us know

I read on the official VISIONary thread at MoDaCo that someone is telling Paul that he can only temp-root with r14, but can't perm-root with it anymore.
For now no way to downgrade HBOOT 1.01 to HBOOT 1.00 or 0.43 .....
We wait for a solution ....
You should follow the instrucions from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=845512
It is the same as rooting devices with HBOOT 1.00. And yes you will need to install visionary r13 or r14 from modaco and temproot your phone. I worked for me! I have new HBOOT 1.01 and CM 6.1 rom now. I've spend all afternone playing with my phone, to get it right.
EDIT: when you are doing the last step, you just have to choose some rooted stock rom that you prefer.

Well, it does not work for me
At this stage: "Phone will reboot and find LEGEIMG.zip on your sdcard, copy it into RAM and check it." my device just reboots to the HBOOT menu, without any error, no copy and check happens. It just stays there forever waiting for me to choose an option: Fastboot; Recovery; Clear Storage; Simlock.
I think that the suggested tutorial does not contemplate HBOOT 1.01. Are you sure it wasn't your new rooted froyo image that installed you 1.01 HBOOT?
Just to add one more thing.
I am able to gain root access with the temproot trick, but when I ask clockworkmod to reboot in to recovery mode, it just takes me to a big red question mark. After a while it reboots and everything is normal again.
That's perfectly normal...

And, do you think there is a solution?
Yes, qzem already presented you one. But you have another problem... bootloader can't see/find LEGEIMG.zip located on your sdcard. There were guys with exactly the same problem and some managed to solve it so it is documented right here on XDA forums.

Blow me down!! It worked!
I had to repartition, reformat and recreate the memory card as goldcard.
Now I have Stock Rooted Froyo
My path was: stock OTA 2.2 -> 2.1 -> rooted stock 2.2
Thanks
Nice to hear that you solved the problem.

Maybe you should do as I did:
-Delete all the partitions on the SD card;
-Create ONE FAT32 partition;
-Format it;
-Create Goldcard;
-Copy LEGEIMG.zip to the SD card;
Finally, try again.

Cheers will give it a try now. Any idea why you have to do this if you already have a working goldcard?
That all worked fine and I am now on 2.1 I installed rom manager 2.5.1.2 but when I try to install clockworkmod it does nothing anyone got any ideas?
maybe I should also mention that i dont have superuser.apk but i do have root check in terminal and su is working.
Now that you have 2.1, you need to root your device.
Just follow this tutorial: http://theunlockr.com/2010/06/07/how-to-root-the-htc-legend/
On step 9, use the rooted rom of your preference.\
That is how I did it.

Instal superuser from Market. Then open Rom Manager, FlashClockworkMod Recovery, then choose Install Rom from SD Card. Before that you should copy some custom rom(all custom roms are rooted usually) you want on the sd card.
