That's amazing! Samsung has...how many handsets...hundreds? Apple has...what...give me a minute to count that high...ummm...1?
Wow...good going Samsung! And to think, Apple being tied to one carrier in the US while Samsung's phones are on every carrier everywhere. I am ...stunned!
Why it didn't happen much sooner is a mystery.

a logical argument would've been that Samsung had a 3 year head start in the race. There are what? 5 iPhones now that were on the two largest carriers and are shifting to the third in the U.S. Another viable argument would've been pricing or a more correct mention of their carrier availability.

See it from another angle. iPhone is the direct representation of the iOS operating system, thus if you want to buy iOS phone, you only have iPhone as a choice.
Whereas for Android or the ultra old operating system for phones, there are thousands of competing phones. Being the best selling company that can overtake Apple, its no easy task.
As for the contract, I'm not sure as I am Singaporean. But I'm sure if you want an iPhone or others, you would change carriers just for it.

I've been hypothesizing that it was moreso AT&T's fault, as compared with HTC's, as they've been relatively responsive about getting their other carrier bootloader unlocks out relatively promptly.
AT&T's had it against Android from day 1, choosing not to carry high-end devices, then lagging behind on updates on high-end devices, then not letting us sideload apps, and now this. It really wouldn't surprise me that AT&T is the primary culprit.
Look, the international Raider and the Bell/Rogers variants all got their dues very quickly; HTC is clearly not holding back on their part in terms of getting these devices unlocked. Since our hardware is literally identical to the Rogers one (radio bands and all), I don't see why there's any reason to keep ours locked while Rogers doesn't have this issue. There's only one variable here, and it's clearly the carrier.
Wasn't Rogers part of an ATT venture at one point? They're worthy of commendation that they didn't inherit these ridiculous business practices.

Uh Evil has been 'on the verge' of unlock for the 3D and Rezound for weeks and weeks that I have been following. Can never tell up from down, cant wait on a chance in case it never comes.
Truthfully all things considered you can't say it will Never happen because someone some where will come with a way to unlock the device. Whether it winds up being HTC themselves that leak something just to get sales up or some dev doing it there will be an unlock method sooner or later, just a matter of time and patience. Have yet to see any android device that exists that has not been able to be rooted and get the Bootloader unlocked.

I tweeted him long before people found out. He said he's going to do a few devices after the Rezound, then us. Sure, we can probably do something with the Rezound, but I'm not used to HTC devices anyways, kind of a brand thing.

Yup, every time I'm in an Att store all they talk about is the iphone and apple.
Even back when the HD2 came out and had a processor twice the speed of the the iphone at that time they were still touting it's superiority.
I was a bit surprised to see everyone in the att store when I went in to pick up my vivid with one. Apparently the store in my area were switching their employee phones from windows phones to Android phones and they were all going nuts and excited about the Vivid.
Anyways, I knew it was att that was preventing the unlocking, they have pretty much always been sticklers about things like this especially if it can insure their bloatware staying on our phones.
Sounds like we should keep up the pressure.

Isn't that the truth. When I told them I was considering the 4s or an Android phone they said 99% of the people who were using Apple and went to android end up bringing the phone back and switching to the 4s.
I couldn't believe how much bashing they gave to android. If I ever hear one of them saying anything again I am going to politely explain: "Does the iPhone come with any AT&T bloatware installed? No? Does every Android device? Yes. Remove your **** apps and people will like android more and the phones will run better."

That's what I was thinking. Why waste your money on yesterday's technology?
He was setting himself up for disaster. Thats like going to an Obama rally and telling everyone your gonna vote for Romney. I'll give you a hug and say have fun... but thats all the love your gonna get on this forum.
Either he's being sarcastic or he's just wants attention. The iPhone 5 is behind in hardware. My brother is an iPhone users but not one of the idiots who just buys an iPhone because of the name. My brother and I always talk about the differences in our phones and he knows that iPhone is behind in the hardware department. Apple makes good products however they know they have a leash on majority of it's users who will follow them like lemmings off a cliff. Many people who buy iPhone don't even know what they are buying. It's more of a status symbol, a fad, a bling, whatever you wanna call it. Personally I don't care if you're getting an iPhone. You're succumbing to Apple's tactics and you will keep buying inferior phones cause they know they got you hooked. I could go on and on about it. Just don't let the door hit you on the way out.
The bar I go to [too often perhaps but that is another story] had a bunch of peeps that iphones. Now I don't think but only one has a crapple. They all jumped ship to Androids and like them much better. Regardless if the OP is honestly enthusiastic about it more power to him/her.
The OP is entitled to do as he wants. He wants the iPhone5 then so be it. I'm pretty sure most of us don't care and posts like these aren't necessary. It's pretty much like waving a piece of meat at a bunch of hungry wolves. This post is really going to get nowhere. GL with that iPhone5 and be prepared to stand in line for hours. My brother did that last year and he's smart enough to preorder this one this time.
I figured they were sarcastic but you never know. As far as the iPhone goes it is a solid, easy to use phone for people that aren't in to messing with phones. They can check there email, listen to music, put it on an iPod dock, play Angry Birds and of course make phone calls. My wife has one and has a hard time using my Bionic on ICS. Another issue that some people have is that they buy and android phone and its Junk from the get go. There are dozens of different makes and models on all the different carriers and and you buy a crappy device it can taint there taste for android cause they think ALL the android phones are bad like theres. Apple has one solid phone that is the same on all carriers. I have a friend that had a Droid 2 and now has a HTC Thunderbolt. He IS getting the iPhone 5 because of all the bad experiences he's had with the HTC. He has never used ICS or JB which I believe is the BEST thing to happen to an Android device.
I LOVE macs. Always have. I have a Mac Mini that I run OSX 10.6.8 and Windows 7 Professional on. It gives me the best of both worlds. I won't knock the iPhone, but with the solid hardware that is coming out and the vastly improved OS's like ICS and JB I think Google is on to something...
How is this worth mentioning? Has nothing to do with the Bionic.

When my mom asked my kid brother what he wanted for his birthday he asked to have his DNA or genome sequenced to find out his genotype. (Or something like that, I'm still learning about all this.) She asked me to pick out a computer for him haha. But I've been doing some research and I think it's a really good idea! They can tell you what health issues you are predisposition to, and give your doctor information about your genetic structure that would help him better prescribe medicine. Also they tell you your genetic ancestry, genetic relatives, and even what percent Neanderthal you are. haha
23andme will do it for $300. I heard about them through Wired, and their website looks good.
Has anyone ever done this or know someone who has? What company did you use?
On the other hand if you think it's a bad idea for some reason, tell me why. So far I don't see any reason why not to do this. Frankly I am dumbfounded that health insurance companies do not require it.
Seems like a worthwhile idea. I didn't know it was as inexpensive as $300 already, I figured it was still like a couple hundred thousand or more. If I had the disposable income, I'd probably go for it.

I know right. And the way I understand it they continue to check different new diseases against your genotype and update your predispositions on your profile, for the initial $300. They add new genetic relatives on your family tree too.
It's just such a new thing I don't know what I might should be concerned about, or who has good track records. I was hoping someone had already had it done and could share their experience.

Right. But what I'm most concerned about is will the rogue DNA recognize me as its genetic match and obey my commands. I don't want Dr Frankenstein to build a monster out of me if I can't control myself, ya know? The cloning feature was only a bit extra, but I don't want a genetic friend. I want to be able to sleep in and force my genetic equivalent go to work and clean the house, and the ESP control feature is a little out of my price range.
There are downsides. How differently would you lived your life if you knew there was an increased likelihood of dying early from some terrible disease. I think in most cases I would want to know, but not everyone would want to.
The biggest problem is going to be when insurance companies start to require this testing as a way to get coverage. Then those people with "bad genetics" will be forced to pay higher premiums.
