Hi,
HELP STOP THE SENSE PLAGUE!!!
I initially posted this:

This is real good...i am running ICS on Sensation, and it is fantastic (apart from the random reboots and FC every 5 mins!)
although i think the dev of that rom has decided to drop it!
I absolutely cannot stand HTC sense...I am really hoping for this to work!!
(also I am willing to pay someone decent $$$ to make a non sense rom for now....JUST throwing that out there...if your interested...message me!)

I call to all devs...need a challenge and some reward for doing it...pm me or post here!!!
The rom would have to be maintained and improved etc, not just an initial few releases and then dropped like a lot of the HTC Sensation Virtuous roms and such like.....
Why didnt you go with the s2 or the 4s then if you knew this was going to have htc sense on stock

I don't know why are you guys asking for a non-sense ROM for a HTC device, if you hate sense that much you should go for the Samsung Galaxy S2 or the Skyrocket or the Galaxy Nexus or the crappy iPhone 4S or any other device of any other brand for that matters, they have almost the same tech specs of the Holiday/Raider/Vivid/Velocity and THEY DON'T HAVE SENSE!!!
I did my ROM because I love sense 3.5 and I love this device for having sense and I love HTC for everything they do with sense.
So this is a no go for me, being a dev for this device is because I DO WANT to have the smoothest sense on my phone.
Sorry and good luck with this.

Your question has been answered by the post above, the devices you mentioned may have the same specs, but ! I dont like samsung, or iPhone!
Every HTC device I have had has had pretty much a 50/50 split with pure AOSP/Sensless and sense, this is the only time I have seen a HTC device with ONLY Sense custom Roms!
Thanks anyway!
Being as this is a device thats not that popular, youll be waiting awhile for anything like that....sorry to say it but i personally cant stand plain jane android....got rid of samsung skyrocket, still have the lg nitro sitting in the box collecting dust....i like the sense on a phone...to each their own @preferences but youll be hard pressed to find a dev thats goingn to devote all the time to another type of build for this phone right now....

True that. I can only imagine what things would be like if we were unlocked from the start, this phone had a hell of a lot going for it. The whole bootloader thing dropped the value of this phone like a rock too, at least here on XDA. I don't even want to know what the value of my Vivid will be when I eventually switch to a new phone...

To be fair, I appreciate WC, Pirate and rest of devs working on the Sense themes. I've played w them all. Im just not a huge fan of sense. So I understand what bennec is asking for. I'm ready for cm9

First! !! Can't wait for this thread to get going just got this phone
Love this phone, kinda like a 2 dollar....well you know!
got the Vivid at lunch today, very nice phone.
since 2007 this is my 3rd smartphone. HTC Tilt, HTC Aria, and now the HTC Vivid.
see a theme? NO IPHONE!!
I was dual booting the tilt with windows mobile 6.5 and Android 2.1 before getting the Aria. I rooted the Aria and was loading the Cyanogen mod nightlies.
I can't wait to get this phone rooted and hopefully Cyanogen will pick it up too.
I bought a Vivid yesterday, and am liking it. It adds up to be my 6th HTC phone:
Cingular 8125
Cingular 8525
HTC HD2
HTC Evo 4G
HTC Inspire 4G
HTC Vivid
Looking forward to rooting & installing custom ROMs

Can't speak for CD, but the BinDroid team has already begun working on the ROM for Vivid. Once we get root we will test it out and then release to the forum. You can head over to the DHD or Inspire forums to see what BD looks like.
Im curious as to whether the Skyrocket or the Vivid will have more developement. Seems the Vivid is going slower than the skyrocket. Not a fan of the hardware for the vivid. Seems heavy and clunky. I think the skyrocket has a much better feel and touch to it.

This is great news. The Bindroid Sense 3.5 ROM is easily the best Sense based ROM I've used on my Inspire. Good to know that there will definitely be one great ROM to use on my Vivid if it ever comes off back-order.

I am about to buy a used nexus s (going to sell my sensation after I get it). I hate sense and I really want some of that ics action (I know kmobs is working on it, but the nexus will have support from google + a TON of great devs, not just the 3 working on the sensation cm team).
The reason why I'm posting this is to give you guys a chance to convince me to stay with my sensation. The nexus s seems like the better phone to me, but if one of you guys can convince me otherwise, please do.
P.S. Not trying to hate on the devs over here, it just seems like all of them are so focused on sense, very few aosp roms.
Hello, gonintendo. Can you please provide 5 reasons of why we should convince you to stay. Thank you.
I had the nexus one and nexus s. I took development for granted. Now I'm selling my sensation and waiting for my galaxy nexus to arrive. Not liking what Verizon is doing to the galaxy nexus.

Because you (I assume) love your sensation and the community built around it here on xda? I have convinced myself that I want a nexus s, which doesn't necessarily mean that it's the best phone for me, confirmation bias is a *****. Perhaps there is something huge that I am overlooking that would make it worth my while to stick with my sensation.
Had it before this phone. Main reason I never picked it up again is the screen. Its terrible.
Kinda wish I'd kept it for development though. O well

Assuming you know the specs, but anyways...
Dual core
8mp camera with 1080p
larger screen with higher resolution
Option to run sense or not
ICS will come, and with that many more AOSP type ROMs
Plus tbh... I think this phone will run much better once it has ics support... It doesn't yet and the nexus s is smooth... But if you want simile specs minus quite as much dev support just get a vibrant probably for half price of the nexus...

Nexus s is a great phone. Awesome audio chip, camera rocks despite lower pixels. I loved it. I bought tgis phone for the bigger screen.
I had a Nexus S for a week, talk about a **** build, I hated it, plastic kills me. I couldn't use it. Too vanilla for my taste and THAT plastic.

Just get the nexus. You'll probably be happier.
If this phone isn't doing it for you, you should sell it and get what will satisfy your needs. Don't concern yourself with what others think.

Seems like the new HTC models have pissed off people who simply must have the latest technology....

I had never used sense prior to buying the sensation. I had played with sense 2.x on a buddy's thunderbolt and I actually liked it quite a bit. I don't know what they were thinking when they put 3.0 together. Everything about it is slower, uglier and less usable than the previous version imo.
Seems like a massive downgrade to me. Maybe I am wrong... but... I doubt it
Me and my mother are switching to At&t soon, and I'm kinda stuck. I have an Epic on Sprint now and development is top notch. Miui,cm7,cm9, sense ports are being worked on, its just great. What my issue is, is I can't figure out what phone to get. I'm stuck mostly between the HTC Vivid and the OG SGSII. Development is huge for me, I'm a terrible flashaholic. I NEED good stuff to flash such as cm, miui, and stuff like that. Benchmarks don't matter to me.. but development does.. what do you guys think I should do? I LOVE amoled displays, I'm not sure that an LCD could win me over, but you can try and convince me. Lol

Personally, i am in the midst of trying to sell my Vivid and get an SGSII
The SGSII is quite a lot faster and has INSANE amount of dev (**** ton of ROMs/MODs)
Personally I'd suggest the SGSII
(Also, wrong forum, should be in General rather then Dev)
Oh ****.. I didn't realized I did that. Now I look like a ghetto noob. FML. Sorry everyone!! But good to know man. Yeah the sgsii has so many roms and stuff.. like holy ish. I thought about the skyrocket but it has like 2 roms. Heck no
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
I believe you already answered your own question. No miui, no amoled screen, only a handful of roms at the moment. It sounds like you should go with the SGS II. I truly think the vivid > SGS II but everyone will have their opinions.
samsung screen wasnt impressive nor was the camera....had both vivid and skyrocket gave skyrocket away for a present...kept the lg nitro and got another vivid for development...but to each their own ...build quality the samsung just feels cheap and not made with quality....all plastic everything...i like a heavy phone....went from inspire to vivid...good luck in your choice.

Be care full which version of SGSII you get ,the LTE version or any version with snapdragon is not fast as the one with samsung processor.
But the LTE one for sure will have way better speeds for download , so pick what you use most,
The vivid screen looks way crispier imo. As far as roms all quality in this forum not to mention sense is the bomb.

I had the Vivid for 30 days, traded for the galaxy sII for almost 30 days, hated it.. cartoony colors, and no Sense.. which I missed. So now I'm back to the Vivid... I love it and never should have left. But that's my opinion... Just do what feels right
I'm gonna stick to my Vivid until the quad core phones come out this spring. GSII is old and played out now. I'm waiting on the GSIII to be announced hopefully next month than I'm all over it. I'll even buy the international version of GSIII when it comes out instead of waiting 6 months for AT&T to get it. Right now, if nobody is desperate for a new phone, just wait a month until we see whats new at Mobile World Congress being held next month.
I can't speak for the SGSII, but as far as the Vivid goes - it's an adventure to say the least. Definitely gotta vouch for the overall build quality and feel of HTC over the Sammies. Development on the Vivid is coming along, and the ongoing development on the Vivid is very active with updates and interaction happening constantly. I feel like the Vivid development community is getting very close to hitting a key moment, at which time the breakthroughs will explode. Kinda like that moment in watching a movie when you just 'feel' that a key fact is about to be unveiled and the plot all starts to make sense. Just my opinion fwiw; ymmv and others may disagree
It's more about, are you willing to wait for better ROM s and MODs. Personally, I'm an HTC fan all the way and the Vivid is yet another bad ass phone from them. Just because you can flash a ton of stuff to it..doesn't mean you will be happy with it. You basically answered your own question..you can modify the software, but you are stuck with the hardware.

I have an HTC Vivid, and I have a friend that has a SGSII, so I have used it alot, and I would have to say that I much prefer my Vivid. Its faster and I like the Sense UI way more than TouchWiz. I also prefer the screen on my Vivid to the SGSII. It just seems brighter and more...well...vivid lol. So, If I had to do it again, I would still get the Vivid.
I think is a matter of preference. I have the skyrocket and bought the wife the white vivid. Here's my opinion I dislike sense it's not that bad I just think is bloated and overly complicated for no reason. Tw is less intrusive. But here's the problem I hate the build quality on the vivid it's too heavy and the screen brakes extremely easy( wifey broke the screen already lol) I preferred the light thing profile on the skyrocket plus the Amoled screen just stand out more. I just hate the feeling of metal on my phone.

Congrats you beat a stock SGSII
My Telus(same as the T-mobile ver) goes way beyond what you got ..im running underclocked to 1.125ghz kernel and i just got 1112352541142..imagine at 1.5
The dev is tons better for our phone since 4 carriers carry essentially the same phone. HTC phones have dull screens that are poor in sunlight. My friend just got this phone which is why im here lookin up stuff for him, and its not impressive at all.

The screen on the Raider/Velocity/Vivid is excellent in producing accurate colors. GSII on the other hand is over saturated in color, but I will say it looks bright enough under the sun. Keep in mind that the if the Telus version is the same as the T-Mobile, then it shares the same processor as the Velocity. Performance in reality should be very similar, the difference you are seeing really stems from running a LOWER resolution screen. I personally think that Sense is much better than TouchWiz, but that is why I'm in this part of the forum.
I do think that at 1.5, you would likely get excellent results. Although quite frankly, without LTE radio, Telus really should have gone with the Exynos

Yes guys, the time has come (LoL), I put my Incredible S on the market. I planned this for a long time now. My idea was to roll out a fully-working 4.3, which is probably the last Android version, which the Incredible S will run. I'm building and building, hopefully I have a proper 4.3 now with video playback fix, I won't sell my phone, till it won't work.
You may interested, why I wanna sell my phone, and here is the reason:
As we know, the hTC stopped the Incredible S's (and other msm7x30 board's) support after ICS. That means, we need to use the good old 3.0 kernel. The 3.0's support will stop in this October. We have many problems with this kernel's support. The 3.0 kernel doesn't support Jelly Bean specific things, for example the two most important: ION memory-allocator (our 3.0 kernel uses PMEM), and vsync. The vsync would be the smaller problem, it can be disabled easily, but because of the lack of vsync, our Project Butter will never work fully. The second shot into the vsync's head is that we have MDDI screen. This is a screen technology, but because of this, the vsync is impossible to port. But, as I said, the vsync is the smaller problem. The bigger is the ION. As you saw, I got it working with Sense 5. But, the camera will never work with ION on Incredible S, cause it needs a new driver, called "V4L2" (Video for Linux), which is only in the 3.4 kernel branch. To port back this driver, that would take months, and I haven't got enough knowledge to do it.
Because this bloody 3.0 kernel, the Sense 5 issues can't be fixed (at least by me). But the Sense 5 is still the smaller problem. Here is a bigger one, which makes me angry, and that's why I sell my device. For AOSP ROMs, the ION also won't be a problem, we can use it PMEM as well (as you saw), but, and here is the but... Our processor is an earlier revision of MSM8255, which doesn't support something which will be needed by Android 5.0. That means, the 5.0 won't work here, or there is only a small hope to get it working.
This is the reason, and I'm very, very said to sell my device, and I really love it! You may have the idea, why don't we port back a 3.4 CAF kernel to our device, cause they did it to Sony Ericsson and Samsung msm7x30 devices. The reason is, that the hTC has many crap in the kernels. That means, we can't port it, it would be a nearly impossible project. My DEV friend tried it, who much better than me, he has bigger knowledge, and he stopped working on it, cause he said it's impossible.
That means, the Incredible S will probably die with Android 4.3, and Sense ICS. Anyway, it had a great support period, from 2.2 to 4.3. This is quite rare.
As I said, I'll roll out a fully-working 4.3, and I hope that there will be a or some guys who will continue the building!
I'll change to hTC Desire X, which is the cheapest device which got official Sense Jelly Bean with 3.4 kernel. You see, I don't need faster, or stronger device, if the IncS would have a 3.4 kernel, I wouldn't sell it...
About the Sense 5, I gave the permission to S.a.M.e.R_d to use my files, kernel etc... Yeah, he promised that he'll fix the bugs, and he won't let you down. What should I say? I think, may you should give him a new chance, may he is true, and he'll bring bugfixes to The Unimaginable.
At last, I wanna give a huge thanks to the whole Incredible S community!!! You're great guys, I can't thank you enough, that you were with me when my thread was closed, that was a real incredible job! No homo, but I really love you, all of you guys, and I'm said that I need to leave you!
Enjoy the CM10.2 on this amazing which was the first which got Sense JB, which is a huge breakthrough, this device is really amazing, and I love it!
That was all, I hope, you understand, and I hope, I was a part of this community.
I won't go away fully, just slowly, but my first priority is the Desire X now with that bloody 3.4 kernel..
Bye guys, and huge thanks ALL OF YOU!
We love you szezso, the work you have contributed to this awesome community is something that you just cannot express in words. The way you work hard and put in countless hours. The Inc S community are the most privileged community to even recieve a piece of work from a humble developer like you. You will remain forever branded in the Inc S XDA life and hope the Desire X community can only welcome you with extreme kindness and they should know how lucky they are to have someone like you.
<3
Wow. I dont know what to say. I dont know if i am more jelly because desire x has an amazing dev at their disposal and we dont have anybody or that we are most likely not going to be supported anymore, but I guess this was expected..
But, from the bottom of my heart, Thank you so much. You have breathed new life into our phone, and tbh I wasnt expecting 4.3 let alone 5.0.. Although it is sad that Unimaginable will not be fully fixed, I dont really care.. You have done enough for us...
Unfortunately, I will be stuck with this phone until the end of next year, as I am not as rich as some people in this forum (lawl mark)
Once again, thanks so much for your work. I hope the Desire X forum recognises you as much as we did, (or more).
Farewell,
Sent from one of the few remaining Incredible S'
SZEZSO MATE just want to say thanks for what you have done for us, you have taught me a lot, I am sure a lot of people have learnt and been inspired by your work.
Even though you are relatively new to the dev scene its been amazing watching your knowledge grow, from your first ROMs to now being able to boot jb sense and 4.3 on a legacy device
We have seen many people come and go, and we might be losing one of our last true developers
I love you man
And this is for everyone else:
I just want you to know that aside from all the usual suspects you made a huge difference for all the lurkers like myself. Thanks for the dedication!
You are going, and all the Incredibles are orphaned now :crying:
its rly bad news for all of us..v all luv u szezso..watever u did for us is really incredible...as u r leaving this inc s thread ill also sell my inc s...ill miss u nd urs awsum work...feeling really bad...

I teared up and almost cried :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:
This has got to be some of the worst news I've ever read since I rooted my Incredible S. Hopefully Android 4.3 stays fast and snappy until December of next year (since that's when my contract ends and I'm allowed to get a new phone)
Respect to Szeszo!
Maybe, when you get to Desire X, you can work with Cpkv5 (or however you spell it, I forgot ). Help them get their Sense 5 like you so brilliantly gave us Maybe give them AOSP too since I see that many of their AOSP kernels don't have working WiFi and the such.
If the Desire X people doesn't like you, tell us, and we'll go over and fix'em right
SOMEBODY HAND SZESZO HIS RECOGNIZED DEVELOPER TAG. SCREW THE REQUIREMENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks a lot Szezo.. You have been amazing for long time now and got me jawdropped when I saw Sense 5.0 and JB 4.3 Rom!! Respect for what all you have learnt and dedicated your time for us. May Desire X forum welcome you with all glory.
All the best for your Future..
It's like Ted is leaving the Stallions.
A huge desaster for us.
But we have to handle it.
Good bye szezso, and thanks for all the fi̶̶s̶̶h̶ ROMs.
Thank you Szezso for all your time you dedicate to our lovely Incredible S! And I think that all of we can courageously change IncS to Desire X, because we know that it will not die, because it will be supported buy great developer!
When you fix the video bug,I can continue to compile the new CM 10.1 or 10.2 rom
Really sad about the fact that such a great developer as you, Szezso, is leaving our community. May the luck and peace be with you and let the community of Desire X kneel down to you! (that was definitely cheesy )
@SZEZSO , Thank you for all you have done to this community
I wish all the best to you
Shock, Oh one of the best developer is leaving from here.
Thank you for all you done for community.

Thank you so much Szezso for all your work on our beloved device!
I know many people have said it but it's true: You are the reason why many of us do not have a new phone.
I hope that cm 10.2 will be fully working like you said so!
Keep in Touch
Well You might be changing your device but you will be keeping in touch. I am sure. And we all are thankful to you and we respect and love you (yeah no homo) haha and we love your work. I wish the unimaginable could get better we all do. but you described the problem pretty much. We all wished it to get fully rnning but I admit even booting sense 5 was a remarkable job.
We will miss you bro.
and as i said keep in touch.
Thank you that was with us. Please renew the kernels here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2385808

What are you talking about? Those are the latest editions there. And the only Android OS that's missing there is 4.3. We only have only 1 4.3 ROM here and that comes default with TESCO V2.9++
I just want to start off saying I've had the HTC one since it first launched on sprint and have always loved the phone I usually only run stock aosp based roms on every phone I get however with the ONE I left sense 5 on there for the phones first half of its life before eventually switching to cm10.2 then PAC 4.3 I loved the phone but for some reason I really wanted to c what a bigger screen would b like especially coming from the galaxy nexus and Optimus g with similar size screens so I made the jump I traded my baby for a white gs4
The gs4 screen is amazing! I've only ran 4.3 aosp on it and never plan to have nasty touch wiz on my phone at all everything hardware wise I feel is better than the one the phone feels snappier the screen is obviously larger I've had no complaints the battery life is definitely much better almost everything hardware wise is much better
Downfalls the outside of the phone the plastic and the look overall is less attractive then the beautiful HTC one but to be honest it's worth making the switch in my honest opinion if your looking for more hardware and less looks and if ur like me and just switch phone for few months.. Not to mention it's just a simple even swap from someone else looking for a one
Have fun with your samscum 4 get a crapcphone 5s

Well, with Sense 5 vs TW... I currently have both and Sense 5 and the One feels smoother overall but haven't used the buggy buggy AOSP ROMs because I personally want stability. Now, the ONLY thing better on the S4 than on the One is easily the fact that I keep LTE signal consistently on the S4 versus lose it on the One.

Good info. I'm thinking about switching to an S4. I get bored with my phones after a few months

bro i had the galaxy s4 since it dropped.. so i kno the phone very well.. and i have had this phone for over a month.. the ONLY thing that the s4 has over the one is the pics are a lil more crisp.. and the screen is bigger.. that is all.. trust me.. the one is way smoother just as fast.. and i get great bettery life with my one just like the s4.. touch wiz is ok but sense 5 kills it hands down.. all them stupid things like moving the screen with your eyes is dumb i had the s4 since it dropped and i never used any of that crap.. im not a htc fanboy either i like samsung and htc but the htc one is deff a better phone then the s4.. i kno everyone is diff.. my first smartphone was the og evo 4g.. then evo 3d.. then evo 4g lte.. then i went to sansung got the S3.. then got the S4.. HTC killed it with this phone:good:
Don't bring that sg4 thrash in our house, the HTC one rains supreme hands downs!!

Man... some third grade grammar lessons could seriously help you a TON!
I doubt the S4 is any 'snappier' since the hardware is nearly the exact same, but everyone has their own opinion. Obviously, you like the S4 more than the One, but I'd honestly be more interested in getting an iPhone 5S over a Galaxy S4. The S4 is just marketed more, but the One is the better phone in my opinion. There would be no reason for me to downgrade to a lesser Android device.
Yes the same friggen chipset... Are you seriously thinking that since the GS4 is stock at 1.9 that it's better? My ONE benches higher than the GS4 any day! It's like .3 inches bigger... Woo I've got more pixels.. I hate that over saturated display.
People like you that have a hard-on for poopsung are probably getting paid to convert people over. Refrain from returning here if you're going to insist that people should switch. People like what they like and leave it at that.

This.
Or if you cannot respond in a thoughtful way without deliberately trying to provoke aggression, then just don't reply at all.
I hope all of you reacting childishly realize that you're just making fools of yourselves on the internet.
