If I start charging the phone when it's turned off, the xRecovery menu appears as soon as I turn it on. Is there a way to fix this? I've searched the forums and I've seen a couple of people mentioning this minor issue, but couldn't find a solution.
The phone is an E15a that went from 2.1.1.A.0.6 (base 15) to FroyoBread v023b and now to GingerDX v019.
I got xRecovery from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=878426 and I installed CWM-recovery-4.0.1.5-e15-Amend.zip for upgrading FroyoBread to the latest GingerDX.
It's just a minor annoyance, but I wonder if I there is a way to fix this. The missus freaks out when she gets the strange menu.
Lol, I get the same. Here:
Phone is off.
I connected charger.
Phone turns on to the battery picture.
I hold lock button down.
Then FreeXperia recovery mode opens up.
I just click reboot and its fine.
But I though GingerDx only came installed with CWM and xRecovery.
I never installed FreeXperia recovery mode.
Lol.
Anyway, its weird.

Freexperia recovery is the same as xrecovery

You get this if you have Dual-Mode-recovery,because then any hardware button lets you boot intoe the FXp recovery.
Unfortunately, you cant power your phone off with FXP-recovery, what is a bit annoying, because then you have to boot to CWM to power the phone off, or you boot Android and let the phone charge while it´s on.
I had this problem in stock ROM, but i solved it by following the instructions in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12186828

Yep, that's it. I don't mind getting the "battery picture" when I plug in the charger. What's annoying is that I land in the xRecovery menu when I want to turn my phone on. It's just a minor thing, I just have to select "reboot" from the xRecovery menu, but still...

I got the same problem when I was only on FroyoBread v023b. At that point I had only xRecovery. CWM came much later when I wanted to install GingerDX v019.

dbts25 says it's only for a stock firmware, so I wonder if I can use it on my GingerDX v019.
Since all the newer ROMs need only CWM, is there a way to uninstall xRecovery and keep only the current version of CWM I have?

GingerXperia V13 and V14 still likes to be installed using xrecovery.
Keep xrecovery you'll never know when you need it.

It can be fixed by moving one line in chargemon to another position. If you will compare chargemon from GingerDX and the one I have uploaded you will see difference. Make backup in recovery first, because if something is wrong it will brick your phone, then replace chargemon in /system/bin with this one from archive and don't forget to set permissions. I haven't tested it (I can't install GingerDX now), but it should work.

Hello, I have unlocked Bootloader today and then tried to flash kernel and it failed and when I try I boot up the phone it won't boot! It just stays in black screen and vibrates when you turn it on. Won't even load to the Sony Ericsson screen ;(. Please help. Need the phone before 14th July. Thanks

Go to here download the first one (219mb) place it in your firmwares folder (where you place kernels) > run x10mini flasher> select flash > select the file > and flash and it's automatically clicked on 'loader.sin' doesn't matter if it's either kernel.sin or w/e it will flash both anyway but just have it on loader.sin lol.
Have your x8 turned of. Connect the usb to the android but don't connect the other end to the computer just yet. Once it's connected to the android and make sure it's turned off beforehand, connect the other end to the pc. Hopefully it should display the green LED light when you just connect it. Hit and hold the back button once you see the LED and connect the usb into the computer. DO NOT LET GO OF THE BACK BUTTON. and wait until it says 'connect in usb debugging mode' and make sure it reads 'flashing finished' before that. After that take of the usb of both ends. power on the device and your device is brand new lol.
I also assume that it's impossible for a kernel to fail installation unless:
you didn't hold the back button down or you let go in the process.
You flashed the wrong kernel E.g. GDX and flashing naa ICS kernel (which is unlikely just an example) cause the KERNEl is only made for ICS and therefore they don't go together so ~
And also for some custom roms you must have it completed in a all in one process. That means you flash the kernel and straight away boot in CWM and flash the rom and install and wipe anything else bla bla bla. But if it is NOT a all in one process then u can just flash the kernel then flash the rom 1 by 1. Read the instructions carefully on the rom and the kernel that's required to flash to use the rom. E.g. ICS rom by nAa which is minicm9 u have to flash kernel then boot into cwm then flash rom. It says that in both articles but this mistake happened to me in the past when I forgot to put the rom in the sd card so I had to contact one of my mental cheap 'friends' lol. Hopefully this works out for you if you need any help just say. And try and provide me with some more detail if all else doesn't work. I'll try my best to answer your query. Remember if you flash that EVERYTHING is gone so it's better than nothing and I also like it when you get to start anew =D.
I also found the quickest and easiest way to get the rom kernel rooted and everything all in one guide I can write up for you once your finished. Let's just get you out of this situation first
That is brick phone..
Yeah just flash stock kernel with flashtool.
And don't forget if you want upgrade, your baseband must 015
and do not flash wrong kernel...must compatible with your rom..

Hello, Thanks for the Reply. But the Flasher doesn't detect the firmware you gave me? :O
Did u put the ftf file in flashtool's folder as required... u can even search on google for stock rom ftf file of x8/w8 it's easily available..
Sent from my X8 using xda premium
Yes, I put it in the Firmware folder. I downloaded some random stock '.ftf' yesterday and they don't fix the phone
OMG! I Just figured out what I did wrong! I didn't hold the back button during the Flashing! Not I have the Sony Erricson screen and it boots up! woahhh! . Love you guys xD

hello, Can you guys tell me which kernel version is safe to flash on my x8?? Bricked my device once before so i dont wanna risk it again. im currently running on gingerdx (i dont know which CM version is that rom.). i have downloaded nAa 07. but i dont know whether its safe or not,. Any help would be much appreciated..
Gingerdx works only on alfs kernel for gdx not even alfs for cm7 you can use alfs gdx V09a but if u have hitachi drivers for lcd you might have some screen cuts, even though works fine for me you can try it or else V08.. don't forget flash addon for V08 and update rom for V09a after flashing kernel and rom..
Read all the instruction on gdx and alfs kernel thread you get to know everything required..
Sent by the walking walkman..
Try to change to stock kernel, maybe your rom don't support for that kernel...................or find a rom that support your flashed kernel, then flash the rom via flashtool
Depends on which GDX you're using. You have unlocked the bootloader? If so, use alfs kernel its on the rom's post -.-

as far as I know
miniCM7 - nAa
GigerDX - alfs
ow yeah!!
dont forget to always check updated kernel and ROM
had screen cut issues on alfs v9a, although worked fine for most of the games, i had to restart my phone to get rid of it. V8 was too laggy and didnt supported my rom very well. Had to switch to nAa 13 and DixinOS but its not smooth as alfsv9a. I will just have to wait for the bugs to be fixed. No option. Thanks dude,.

so after a new update to the cm9 i found my phone a bit slow, so i decided to downgraded it to the latest cm7 version with the matching alf kernel. after the downgrade i found my phone acting very strangely.
after turning it on, the kernel and cm logo goes on, then it turns itself off, then again, again and again until the battery drains. i cant even go into recovery mode, so i cannot use my phone obviously.
can you help me with some advice?
thx

Connect your phone is flashing mode by:
1. Keep ur mobile connected to the pc all the times.
2. Remove the back cover and the battery.
3. Wait for 10-15 seconds.
4. Press and HOLD the back button while putting the battery back in.
5. Launch PCC.
If this didnt work out, try to shortcircuit ur phone(it wont damage the hardware) by a dc charger.
Flash naa ics kernel back, then go to recovery and format data and system then you flash alfs kernel

not going to recovery in alfs &nAa kernel is "IMPOSSIBLE"
Both kernels include recovery so it should go to recovery .......
Reflash kernel / then full wipe {(important)+dalvik & system wipe}
U must always wipe when u upgrade or downgrade form ics/jb (cause whole system is different)

this is what the OP said.....if the phone reboots even before entering recovery then he cannot recovery...
and under some circumstances phone wont enter recovery... one is to be on ics on oxydo kernel and then flash back alfs with the ics rom... try entering recovery.. it will reboot.
