Guys
My milestone (A853) is giving problems. Every now & then, the screen is automatically pressed..mostly on the left hand side I think. What could the problem be? Is there pressure on the screen (which in my opinion should't activate button presses, but I'm not sure).
What should I do? Should I take it back to my service provider or is there something else that can be done? It's still on contract, so I can take it back, but, ithey won't be able to give me the Milestone again...meaning they must service it...and they probably would cause more harm. And since it doesn't do it all the time, they might not do anything...or they will be stupid and just flash the stock rom over again. Or they would surprise me - you can never tell. I stay in South Africa....
So now if I should take it back, I will need help. I need to get it back to stock...what's the best (I'm on Cyanogenmod 7). Please assist. I work thr whole week, so iif I should tqake it back, I must do it on a weekend...i.e. tomorrow, otherwise only next week.
Please assist.

your digitizer is dying, i have the same problem, replacing it is the only solution i found so far.
you can find a replacement on ebay with the tools for about 20$ if you want do it on your own. if you still on contract the should do it for free because it's a common problem on the milestone.
[HOW-TO] Get your Milestone back to stock this should help you getting back to stock
Thanks, I will try flashing it back to stock - although the file might not be correct, but I'm just taking the "Africa" sbf for 2.2.1.
I will take it in tomorrow. So far today the phone has been fine though.
Thanks for the help.
PS. did you replace your digitizer?
not yet, but i will have to do it one day
my problem is that the back button gets "pressed" kinda annoying

Yeah if it's stuck on the screen.. you're skrewed.
What do you mean?! I dont wanna lose my phone it cost so much damn money and I cant get another one for so long! Theres no way to fix this ;[!?
there are only 2 radios for the g1 at this time. one of them starts with a one, and the other is the 2.22.19.26I that is required to run the new spl. if there is a link to this rom, and it is the dream forum i would like too see it. if it is not in the dream forums then you should've known better than to flash something to your phone that was not made for it or tested for it. Twisted bricked one of his phones flashing a hero radio.
I hope you still have insurance

Someone please help!!!!!!!!
Is my phone really broken? Like ill never ever be able to use it again? Is there any way to fix this? Someone told me to press Alt-L because the box with arrows pointing at the screen is the recovery mode screen but when I press Alt-L nothing happens
Those are combined radio and ROMs for the Hero, not Hero ported to the Dream. At the top in big red letters it says:
DO NOT FLASH THESE ON ANYTHING EXCEPT A HERO!

So you flashed a radio not written for your device. Yes, it's a brick, you deserve a brick for completely ignoring the warnings...
I would say take it back to tmo, but as it's not a full brick, but a radio brick, they will know it's not an over the air update that caused it.
What do I tell t-mobile? I bought my phone on ebay..I dont even know if it has insurance or anything and I do not use a data-plan im using a t-mobile prepaid sim.. theres noway for me to fix this?
call HTC and talk to them, they will fix it on your dime. Basically you call them, they will tell you there is a "$29 or less triage fee", and give you an RMA number. Basically what they are saying is, without your approval, the charge to look at it will be less than $29. That includes shipping back to you. I would think a reflash would be a fairly cheap procedure. I have used HTC for repairs before and they really went over and above for me.

Oh, you're not a tmo customer....then they won't replace it for you. Only if you bought it from them. Enjoy your brick.
Theres nothing that I can do to fix a radio brick!?
here is the contact info for HTC-Tmobile repairs
1-888-356-2375 [email protected]
this is getting a bit old, NO, there is no fix for what you did other than sending it in for repair. Nobody but HTC has the ability to fix your type of brick as of right now.
Ok..can you tell me what I should tell them? My phone is rooted, doesnt that mean they wont accept it?
Worst thing you can do is tell them the phone is rooted. If you've got a data plan and everything with T-Mobile, tell them that you installed an OTA update and that this problem happened.
Last time I had a brick, that's what I told HTC. They fixed it for free, all I had to pay for was the shipping.
I do not have a data plan though..thats the thing im used t-mobile prepaid, so your saying not to tell them that my phone is rooted? Wont they know though?
No, they can't tell. If you don't have a data plan with them, they won't help you. That's what they did to me since I just have a regular plan.
This is when you go to HTC. Find their support number on their website, and call them. They'll give you the address to send it to, and they'll repair it for 1-2 weeks. They pay for return shipping.
Also, tell them that there was an OTA update, you pressed "ok", and after that the phone would not reboot. DO NOT tell them anything related to you rooting it, flashing, etc.
Ok thanks... so since I dont have a data plan they wont help me fix it? I sent them an email anyways
No, but you can give them a call and see what they say.
I just know from experience that they've turned people down as well as myself in the past.

So I have a bell vibrant, however because of reasons not important here I got out of my 3 year contract with bell and I still have the phone. So I sign up with rogers, unlock the phone with a samsung app from the market, enter the APN settings and away I go. All is well for a few days. I try to use it and see it is frozen, i remove the battery and reboot. But it won't. Just says samsung and turns off. So I read and read here for several hours. I download what I believe to be the stock rom (labelled true stock) not caring if it is tmobile or bell or whoever as I will just change the settings (I'm more concerned with the phone working, figuring I can locate a better flash etc if required later) I use Odin, now the screen comes on says VIBRANT, samsung... and shuts off. I've tried EVERY button combo possible and cannot get the phone into download mode or ANY mode. Just that screen and off. Then I realize that the VIBRANT is different between bell and Tmobile. Awesome. Anyone have any ideas on how I can get this phone to do anything?
First....you didnt read enough!
Second...your SGS might be suffering from bad internal SD card! You will have to go to a Bell store and get it repaired.
Third...You should always make sure 3B recovery is working before flashing any ROM!!!
Your only solution is to return it to bell and hope they fix it...or try heating up your phone and see if you can get into download mode and flash JH2 firmware...then if it works, you got lucky...if not, return it to BELL!
I'm not under contract with Bell they won't fix it... and Rogers didn't provide the phone so they won't. Samsung will honor the warranty. I spoke to them today but they said I have to go through Rogers and gave me an issue number to reference. With all due respect.... I read plenty. Sometimes searches just don't give you everything you're looking for. With that said, honest mistake assuming software for a VIBRANT wasn't for Bells VIBRANT. The 3 button reset was working fine... up until the wrong vibrant software went on it.

It should be made more clear on this forum that VIBRANT's are not all the same...I agree!
I'm in the same boat, I bought my bell version off of craigslist and dont have a receipt and am using on Rogers.
Rogers is not going to do anything for you as they did not sell the phone to you. If you have a receipt from Bell or any other store, I would take it back to the store or a Bell corp store and tell them you use the phone as a PDA and are not using as a phone!
If you do not have a receipt like me, you are at samsungs mercy and you should tell them you dont have a receipt and they should direct you to a local samsung repair shop.
Let me know how it turns out.
Just an update... Bell sent the phone off for service even though I'm not currently a Bell customer... yes let that sink in. Hopefully they won't diagnose the issue and see incorrect software... hopefully they'll just fix it. I believe the issue is deeper than software anyway but still. I'll post results when I get the phone back. Cheers.

Glad to hear it worked out. I may need to also go through Bell (I use Rogers). There's dust in my FFC and I read somewhere Warranty may/should cover it.
Got phone back last night... I'm pretty sure the internal card was pooched... which is what caused me to mess around in the first place. Came back, locked to bell, 2.1 update 1, all original like it was out of the box again. Unlocked and working with Rogers now.
Hi,
So my sgs was charging got entangled in some wires, and fell on the ground. Since then it doesn't vibrate any longer.
Any other solutions other than taking it for repair? I not on the rom that it came with and i'm pretty scared about flashing it back.
I'm on jpy 2.2.1 and the original rom was 2.2 from vodafone portugal (which i don't have).
Thanks for any help you can give me.
Sent from my GT-I9000
if this only happened when the phone dropped, its most likely hardware problem.
is the JPY 2.2.1 you are running now stock ??
dont worry about getting the phone back to original firmware, as long as the phone has stock firmware you should be fine.
Have the same issue, dropped it ( from a very low height ) and the vibrator seems dead.
Taking it in for repairs tomorrow, hoping they'll do it under the warranty, otherwise I don't expect it to be too expensive, a quick checkup has vibrator units in 50 packs for $50 online.
Will post here once I get it back ( it'll take a week and a half, they say ) with feedback if I remember to.
Thanks for the reply,
and i didn't notice right away but seems to me that the fall was responsible.
I have the rom completely stock, but i rooted it with superoneclick.
The aplication has an unroot option, is it safe?
Also the CSC is KOR, i'm portuguese won't this raise any red flags?
It might seem stupid but this is the only good phone that i ever had and my dad would kill me if when i got to the store they wouldn't accept it for repair because i flashed the phone.
Thank you in advance.
Edit: bullzeye.za.
mine was from a low height as well. :s did you had the phone rooted or flashed a different rom on it?
I would really like the feedback, thank you
Have mine running 2.3.3 JVK
Flashing it to stock before it goes in, ofcourse.
Sent from my GT-I9000
Undo root and delete root apps as root breaks warranty .
But it would be worth trying a factory reset first .
jje
thanks for the replies,
i'm going to prepare things for a flash to send the phone for repairs.
But before flashing i will do the factory reset suggested
TY
Edit:
Could someone tell me how to flash 2.2 rom on my phone? With all the details, i'm afraid of bricking my phone any insight?
And what precautions should i take?
thank you
Flash it to any 2.2 ROM with ODIN, try and find one with the base system files included, the ROM should be 250mb+ if it does.
THey're repairing mine under warranty, should have it back today or Thursday.
Done, returned it today.
Best of luck with yours, i hope everything works out for mine too.
Sorry for the late reply
Got my phone back on Thursday ( Wednesday was a public holiday ) so it was only 16 business hours that I was without my phone.
Working better than new now, the only think I worry about is that the vibrator seems to have an "echo" as if it's not secured completely.
Oh well, it just makes the vibrations easier to notice.
Well, i think it's all good.
The phone just got back from repairs, it's at the store, i'll pick it up tomorrow.
If i find anything strange i'll post a reply.
Thank you all for the help.
Well, I guess is not so ethical what Im going to ask...
But, last mont my phone touchscreen stopped responding, going to service, 15 days without phone, phone working fine again.
After less than a week, touchscreen stop working again, back to service, phone working again.
What happen yesterday? touchscreen isnt working again
I wont deal with an obviously faulty phone again.
So, I want to kill it completely. I dont know if there is a way to kill even fastboot, but if anyone can help me, It will be great. Looks like it's the only way to get a proper replacement from moto
Doesn't sound like a good idea, , They'll proooooobably know if you been messing with it.

So don't... Tell them what kind of hassle you've already been through and that you want a replacement. If you have insurance, break the screen. Usually they don't ask what happened but if they do tell them your a contractor and you were doing some heavy lifting and it broke in your pocket.
Thanks for your answers.
Im not in the US. Here moto can hold your phone in repair for a maximum of 3 months
They dont care if you are dealing with service for the second or third time.
I guess I´ll use the hard way. It wont be so difficult
A buddy at work is a real phone whore and like to get a new one every few month. he takes a car battery and 2 wires and touches the battery contacts on the phone to fry the board.
Just touch it for a second or you'll get burn marks. Phone will be DEAD and there is no way for them to tell you did it...

crispy Droid 3 ..
here in mexico, my mom had a motorola cliq that had problems with the board (it crashed even after wipe without modding) sent it back returned (they just reflashed it) happened again and sent it back and they just reflashed it. this time i rooted and updated firmware. but anyway it failed again. sent it back (with sbf of original ) the they just re flashed the unit..
one more time it went back and for the most time (3 weeks ) it was well
on every call to support i told them that the problem was the board in the phone.
one fourth time sent it back and finally got the board replaced ... (this time imei was different but housing was the same.
i was very happy until i noted they closed the phone housing badly wrong .. but it was working. then it failed again but this time it was a new error. keyboard lights died because of a FRIED Sensor. but it was working.
but as using it at night was impossible. i returned it and as i had sent it back so many times they changed my phone (my mom didnt want another Motorola for now) for a Nokia N97 (i'm talking 2 years ago when android wasn't as popular as it is today.
today. my mom still has that phone. always trustworthy Nokia phone.
anyway wht im saying is that keep sending it back until they change at least the board or the screen.. but well
have you tried reflashing?
Hey folks, longtime lurker, first time poster. I want to say a quick thanks to everyone here for all the work you folks do, and all of the super informative posts here that have helped me throughout the years.
My question is this, I just recently got an AT&T Note 3 from a friend, and wanted to flash CM to it, but I soon learned that the bootloader is locked and this would not be possible for me. I know development for this (now 3ish year old) phone is probably long dead, but I hope somebody will stumble upon my post, and be kind enough to help me with an idea I'm working out in my head. I have a friend who has a tmobile note 3 that has a busted screen, and was wondering, if I either a) swap my screen into it, or b) swap the tmobile motherboard into my phone, would I be able to then flash Cyanogenmod, considering that I would have the tmobile motherboard in my phone, or just the working t mobile version in general? In theory, I would assume even the motherboard swap would work, though it would be annoying to have to do it.
What do you think, can I do this, should I attempt to?
Yes, the T-Mobile board should fit on the n900a.
The n900t does not have a locked bootloader so cm can be used.
Thanks for the reply, I may just give that a try then. Best case scenario, it'll be successful, and I'll have CM 13 on my device... worst case, I fail, and end up needing to replace the phone (which I should probably do eventually anyhow) this should be fun.

It would be much easier for you to replace the cracked screen on your buddy's phone than replacing your motherboard with his.
