Greetings friends,
I am a tablet flashing veteran and I need your help. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7" T-Mobile (SGH-T849) which I have flashed to CM7 using Heimdall. The flash appeared to be successful, and I used the Clockwork Recovery app to flash the recovery module. Now, no matter what I try, the tab will ONLY boot into recovery. It will not boot to an OS.
I can even use the CWM recovery console to flash a new image, but it restarts back to recovery!
I've been searching for the stock firmware to see if that gives me control, but all of the download links are broken. To make matters worse, this tablet isn't mine, so I'm facing the fact that if I can't recover this thing, I will have to pay to replace it.
I am able to get it to download mode, and I've tried ODIN'ing several images as well, but still, it just restarts to the darn recovery console.
Please help!
Thanks.
restock using Overcome Method:
Go to overcome site
Http://www.teamovercome.net
Read the guide,
Missing pictures can be seen here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20974872
Follow the picture step by step.
Basically to restock:
Download GB-stock-safe-v5.zip, unzip it and and flash with ODIN according to the guide.
Stop there and you will have Gingerbread JQ1
You can continue with the rest, and you will get Overcome 4.1 and you won't regret.
From there you can then try AOKP or CM9, all requires you to have Overcome Kernel with its CWM recovery to flash.

Hi guys,
i just got a Galaxy S (international, germany) and wanted to flash Clockwork Mod so i can flash a custom rom (miui). I got it with version 2.2 so i rooted it with z4root 1.3 and then tried RomManager to get CWM on it. But it did always reboot into Samsung stock recovery mode. So i tried this Odin3 1.7 and flashed a Kernel and got into a bootloop (First this one, then i used the one promoted in this video (YouTube Video, description XDA Thread with promoted Kernel. Phone now stuck at booting (isn`t even bootlooping, just stuck at the GALAXY S GT etc. logo. I still can reach the Download Mode.
Can anyone please help how to get at least the phone working again I`m really desperatly.
Greetings from Germany & Merry Christmas

Install a new Rom with odin will make your phone boot again.
2.2 is probably too old now.
Upgrade to Gingerbread Stock using Odin. Turn on Repartition and follow the instructions to flash.
Download a Custom Kernel for the Gingerbread firmware that you flashed. Every Kernel except the stock comes with CWM Recovery.
Copy the MIUI zip file to sdcard and flash it with recovery. It should boot right up.
If you are still having bootloops, try doing a factory reset and then boot MIUI.
Don't try things that you aren't experienced with.
Anyway, download odin 1.85, flash stock Froyo, launch Kies, update to official Gingerbread, launch Odin, flash Semaphore Kernel and GG.
Merry Christmas!
How can i flash Stock Froyo/Gingerbread trough Odin? Can`t find anything usefull @ google
btw i can reach Recovery Mode (CWM / Speedmonk something)
(Kinda experienced by flashing around with my N1 for around 2 years now, but never heard about this Odin Program)
thanks for help anyway

I am not going to help you with this one. You need to get comfortable with the forum and its contents first. Read all the guides and stickies before proceeding with Firmware flashing. There are many different types of firmwares with Bootloaders which are often dangerous to flash and few without bootloaders. Hence, first go through the guides and go with the flashing only when you are confident that you are doing everything in right order.

Just do what dhiru1602 says. after you flashed it with the latest Gingerbread ,
flash the cf-root kernel with odin . than download the latest galaxian/semaphore kernel, copy it to your internal sd-card and flash it with the app SGS Kernel Flasher . you can find that app on the market. good luck mate !
Thanks guys, u really saved christmas for me Just booted up the latest Miui Rom!
Happy Holidays

so I soft bricked my p1000 by attempting to download and install the latest cm9 nightly (i'm pretty sure i tried to flash a bad zip.
it starts up, gets to the samsung galaxy tab logo and hangs until i force it to power off. I CAN enter download mode but not CWM recovery.
I would very much like to recover the data that is currently on my tab or i would simply restock as all of the unbricking guides suggest, but alas, I want my data.
I have a known good working rom image .zip on the internal flash. so I would like to just attempt to flash that, but I can't seem to access CWM recovery.
From what I gather, cwm recovery is a function of the kernel, so then, at this point I would very much just like to flash one of the modern cm9 cwm recovery-enabled kernels via odin OR a known good cm9 install package via odin.
does anybody know how I can go about doing this?
that is why I always use heimdall.
extract the boot.img from good package and
heimdall flash --kernel ./boot.img --recovery ./boot.img
I do realize that this is what the thanks button is for, but somehow that doesn't seem to be enough. thanks to your instruction, I was able to immidiately get my p1000 back online up and running. THANK YOU so very much! *super internet high five*!!
I am trying to upgrade to the CM 10 or the slim bean builds on a phone I rooted and upgraded to gingerbread long ago.
I seem to be stuck in the middle of things and cannot follow any of the instructions I find on the googles.
my phone is rooted, i can run titanium.
I am running:
gingerbread.uckf1
Kernel: 2.6..35.7-i897uckf1-cl273832
firmware version: 2.3.3
When I follow instructions that want me to enter recovery mode I appear not to be using CWM recovery as it says:
Samsung Recover Utils
- for BML -
which lead me to instructions to use odin and add a cwm recovery file.
Those instructions say to enter Download mode. Unfortunately, Odin never recognizes my phone when I am in the mode listed above. Is that download mode?
**** Edit Download mode is different it is entered by pushing volume +/- and inserting USB ****
so I am trying to figure out what I should do. I am trying to ultimately turn this into a tablet for my kids.
any help would be appreciated.

I usually follow this plain and simple guide from Cyanogen website.
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Captivate:_Full_Update_Guide
Hit thanks if I helped you.
It appears that you still have to install CWM as the stock recovery module is still poping up. No odin will not detect your phone in this mode as it is recovery and not download mode. If you don't mind temporarily downgrading to eclair then you could use:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989. To downgrade then simply download CM, rename the zip as:update.zip. All you have to do after that is copy the update.zip file to your sdcard not in any folder. Go into recovery mode and apply update package. In any case you might want to back up any valuable information.
Hello,
i was following the tutorial on cyanogen wiki to flash my galaxy tab (P1000) and install him. But after try install ClockworkMod Recovery the device only can entry on download mode, don't recovery mode and can't boot.
What can i do to solve that ? O already try install anothers cwm but don't work too.
What have you flashed exactly. To flash recovery you need to flash both recovery.bin and zimage.
What model tab do you have? What version of Android is installed on your Tab? And which files have you flashed on your tab? What tool did you use to flash your tab, Odin or heimdall?
Hy glussier, thanks for answer,
i only use the zimage (catch here cmw.22aaf3.com/p1/p1/recovery/cwm-5-p1.tar), where i can find the recovery.bin ?
The model is P1000, the galaxy tab 7' run currently android 2.3.3. To flash i first use the heimdall but don't work, then i use odin, only with it i can complete.
I have copy to internal memory the files of cyanogen and gapps.
Forget the recovery.bin. Follow the steps at the following link exactly as said, and you shouldn't have a problem: http://freedownloadbuzz.org/how-to-flash-clockworkmod-recovery-for-galaxy-tab-p1000/
Heimdall failed because you probably failed to run zadig to install the tab drivers.
Or if you want to consider an alternative that most people use: overcome method.
the links are in my signature.
It is a two step process and will wipe your tab;
Download from the links 3 things:
-Gb-stock-safe-v5
-the guide (PDF)
- overcome kernel tar
Jump to guide page 7
Follow the picture to flash GB-stock-safe rom
after that, follow the picture to flash overcome kernel tar
and you will have CWM recovery

well the best way is what priyana told you, i also faced a problem and the more zimage and all this things made me confused.
so i will suggest you look here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1881981
download -
The Overcome ROM A (Hopefully!) Comprehensive Guide To Installing
GB-Stock-Safe-v5
Overcome_Kernel_v4.0.0.tar
Go in download mode open odin and flash the gb stock file look in the pdf file and do as it shows there, each file on exact the same box i bet you wont fail if you read the pdf.
once you flashed it your device is ready and next thing you can do is to flash again it with kernel v4.0 look again in the pdf guide it will tell you how to do that, there it also says to download a file but i wont recommend that.
once kenerl v4.0 is flashed your phone will reboot and take some time to turn on Dont panic its fine if it take a long.
now if you want to update to 4.1.1 jelly beans
then download the latest version from here - http://get.cm/?device=p1
and you also need google ap store - http://goo.im/gapps
download these files and put it in sd card by mass storage
Simply now reboot it in recovery mode and install zip from sd card (look in the forums how to do that).
Thanks a lot for all answers,
i follow the instructions of oveload, and work
later i follow the instructions of juscallmelarry and of cyanogem tutorial and can install Jelly bean on my galaxy tab.
Thanks again for everyone

Hello,
I was going to flash Clockworkmod recovery into pmy Galaxy Tab (P1000L), following the steps via Cyanogenmod wiki. Downloaded heimdall and the Technomancer's kernel with the ClockworkMod Recovery. Installed drivers and all, flashed and it was all good. But then after rebooting, the tablet got stuck on the boot screen, that one showing "Galaxy Tab Samsung" and the keys it up. And just that. I did nothing wrong, I think.
What do I do?
Also, ODIN doesn't find the tablet, but I can still flash zImages via heimdall.
sorry that I never heard of Technomancer's kernel.
but I suspect you flash a P1000 kernel, not a P1000L one.
Can you boot to recovery (volume up + power, and when samsung logo appear let go of power but hold on to volume up, until recovery menu appear)?

I was able to flash a working kernel, now it's a 2.3 Stock ROM.
But I still want to install clockworkmod to flash cyanogenmod9, and the tutorial in their wiki doesn't seems to work. Any ideas on how to do it?
Maybe rooting, but how?
Read this:
http://ubuntuone.com/7DoqHXrUi0LKJsVOZUUNVM
This is Alroger's site
He owns an L/N device himself, so I think you should take his words for it.
Towards the end he said:
The Overcome guide is a good start before you get to CM9.
Easy restock from Gingerbread, in case you get any strange simptoms.
Flash full stock Gingerbread (with repartition).
Flash Kernel with CwM. Doesn’t have to be Overcome, could be any CF-root kernel for your model. You can use the same one in the CM9 ZIP that you will flash.
Boot directly into CwM Recovery, holding VolUp. No need to convert to ext4, since MTD will converto to yaffs2 anyways.
Flash CM9 ROM and GApps!
Now, there is Overcome new link in my signature.
Download your cm9 for p1l and gapps-ics and put in external sdcard
Download the Overcome kernel tar and flash it with Odin, (read the overcome guide if you don't know how to flash the kernel tar)
and when complete it will reboot, just force it off.
Then boot to recovery like what he said, and follow on.
