I dropped the phone and when i picked it up the signal bar was gone and it wont recognize my sim card..
i have tried flashing the modem, flashing stock, checked imei and checked the efs folder.
does any of you guys have any idea of what could be the problem ?
sorry for my bad english
thanks
Does the phone say : no sim inserted ?
Maybe the simholder is damaged ?
Did you try another sim ?

i have tried all that seems like the modem chip or something like that because in setting app imei says unknown and baseband says unknown..
any suggestions ?
Is there any physical damage to the phone ? If not, You could flash stock and send to repair centre and say 'this is a result of an OTA'
However, If there is the tinyest noticeable bit of damage, they may understand your plan and make you pay.
you should also NOT think about bricking it and NOT claiming a new MoBo under warranty.

then im pretty screwed.. the whole screen is cracked.. but the modem worked after the screen was cracked.
They wont see it that way im afraid, Do you have insurance with your provider or even your home ? you could contact them and make a claim that way, Or sell it to someone on here (XDA Marketplace) and put the money towards an upgrade.

i think we have house insurance if it will go under there. but how mutch is the note worth, no sim functions and broken glass ?
No idea, Get a rough idea from a mobile recycle company, someone may want it to fix up, or just for parts (what ever is left working lol)
Also, if you claim on the insurance, they may want the broken phone, So dont make any rash decisions just yet.

Hi im finished here
i bought my diamond from 1 week ago and its locked .. anyway i unlocked it and started to use it .. but after while issues have came up clearly .. the end key light is always on and never turn off .. also its over heated it really burns my hand when i hold it .. and once i open the backside cover and i removed the stylus and stick it near the magnet .. and guess what .. it came off .. all these problems on a new diamond used for only 1WEEK !!
i returned the device to the HTC Service Center .. and they gave me a letter to give it to the shop which i bought the diamond from .. when i went to them they said u lost the warranty cuz u unlocked it .. !! im not even satisfied with this device i hate it !!
i know u cant do somthing here but i love this forum and just wanted to remove this pain from my chest and get some suggestions from u ..
Sorry to ask... but which ROM did you put in after unlocking it? The magnet is fixable with some pasting stuff (be careful not to use something to abrassive, or you might melt the plastic).
Have you Hard Reset the phone after unlocking it?
Once the device works properly, you ain't gonna hate it.
Did you followed ALL THE NECESSARY steps to unlock it safely? Have you let the device near a source of heat and/or moist?
Which RADIO is installed? Which version is you Diamond? AUS, EUR, USA?
Calm down and describe the whole scenario. It's the only way the all-seeing eyes from xda can look properly into your problem.
Needless to say: the fact that you loose your warranty is a well known risk of having the device unlocked.
It took me a long 2 week period to dismiss any possible tech fault, and THEN I started RESEARCHING into unlocking.
As I live in Argentina, mine came already flashed, so that was easy on me to take the risk. But even then, I took all the possible cautions. Of course I'd be mad if something like that happened.

you automatically lose your warranty on ANY phone when you change your unlock your cell phone or tamper with the original software.
Try again but first flash official ROM and SPL.
I'm glad I could help you, a little at least.
Unlocking, HardSPL'ing and such UNofficial stuff are warranty breakers.
It's supposed to be updated with Official ROMs (dwnldd from HTC home)
AFAIK you can't brick your phone without having a large ammount of mistakes.
If you want a new one, re-flash it with the official branded ROM that came with your phone... and try to get the old spl back in... (I dunno if that's possible...)
That way you might be able to pass it as a broken one... the resellers should take it back, because they will have to send it overseas... physical damage to the phone should be repaired nevertheless.
The best luck with this, pal. Hope you don't end up stressed up.

If the warranty is voided as in this case it means the manufacturer can refuse repair wether it be a software fault or any physical damage.

thanks you for your rapid ask, but i sure , exist a solution for the brick.
my phoneis not guaranteed because I bought it used
SNIFFF
There's no current solution for a brick. A brick is a brick and you're done. Sorry
I had the same issued as you are having i was also stuck on the t-mobile logo screen because of the radio update, and yes my phone got brick. but since i had insurance on the phone i took it to my local t-mobile made up some excuse that my phone stop working and they gave me a brand new one in store for free. gotta love the extra at 5 dollars you pay for insurance saved me from buying a new one lol.
Yup, you've got a brick. Most common brick actually, downgrading radio 9/10 times seems to leed to a brick. Currently there are no working fixes. There are rumors that either a serial->USB cable might help fix a brick or wiring up a jtag setup. There's info about both on the interwebs but neither has been proven to work on the dream yet afaik.
Here is my question. What were you doing before the brick happened? By chance did you install the special spl?

This is horeible advice you never want to tell them you droped the phone, that's not covered under warranty. Just tell them the phone won't boot. But yeah sound like your phone is fubar.

How is it bad advice? Hardware problems are covered by warranty, software are not. the brick is a SOFTWARE problem. T-Mobile does not give replacement g1s that are screwed up because of something you installed that wasn't issued by T-Mobile themself. If you tell them you dropped it , its a HARDWARE problem and they provide replacements...

Telling them you dropped the phone and it no longer boots is your problem and they will say so. "Was it working before you dropped it?" Yes it was "Then it soulds like when "YOU" dropped the phone you messed it up" Hope you have the phone insurance that's the only way you are most likely going to get a new one but it's going to cost you.
While it's a software problem if you drop the phone and break it they do not have to replace it.

simple The OTA got to you for cupcake and you went to install it when the phone rebooted it was stuck at the G1 screen. they will walk you through a few steps and confirm it's messed up. At that point they will send you out a replacement. You do not have to say anything about it being rooted. I just did this for my friends moms phone. He messed it up I called and got her a replacement sent. Now if you are not a T-mo customer you are out of luck though which sucks :/
Hell I had to do this for 2 phones. 1 G1 and 1 Shadow this past week (both phones were modded by me/friend) Shadow was a true hardware issue though and not the mods fault though.
just tell them your phone wont boot up if you cant get to recovery or android screen neither can they on your phone so they will never know what u did to it

Lol okay then. Still think that if you report a hardware issue like you broke it, T-Mobile will still replace it as long as you still have the 1 year warranty that came with it. Like Cyanogen's issue where his touchscreen was messedup. HARDWAREE issue and T-Mobile replaced it

I work for T-mobile and telling them you broke the hardware on the phone is NOT covered under warranty. The manufacture's warranty only covers phone defects not people dropping their phone. A touch screen going out is an example of hardware covered under warranty. Software is covered under warranty as well and all you have to say is the phone won't boot past the G1 screen. Thats all you have to say.
All right. I rest my case then O mighty T-Mobile worker. No sarcasm haha.
Yeah its true, you do have to be careful if you plan on using the warranty route if its not totally legit, but then I suppose it differs depending on region. Over here in the UK it covers quite a few things like accidental dropping of the mobile, water damage etc. Which reminds me, I need to add my mobile to my monthly insurance policy...
The insurance isn't really worth it =/ Even if you claim it you still have to pay 130$ here in NY
Blimey... I pay £6/m (thanks to my credit card policies) instead of the usual £9/m that covers the mobile phone over accidental damage, theft, water damage, software damage etc. However if I do make a claim I think its £30-£40 for a replacement G1.
HELP! Is my g1 bricked?
After reading a few other thread I believe my g1 is bricked.
I was trying to install Superhero G3. After installing the radio provided in this thread:
http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f56/official-hero-g3-build-rom-18471/
My phone hung at the T-Mobile g1 boot logo.
I can't get into recovery or anything.
I bought the phone from craigslist, so I don't have a warranty or anything. My parents would kill me if they found out I have to buy myself a new phone.
PLEASE I hope there is something I can do to fix this.
I was trying to get a new hero rom and it required a different radio so I flashed it and while it was installing it brang me into a screen with a white box and a yellow arrow pointing down to the phone..Its been there for over 20 minutes, I tried to take out the battery and putting it back in it still goes back to that screen!! What should I do!?

there are only 2 radios for the g1 at this time. one of them starts with a one, and the other is the 2.22.19.26I that is required to run the new spl. if there is a link to this rom, and it is the dream forum i would like too see it. if it is not in the dream forums then you should've known better than to flash something to your phone that was not made for it or tested for it. Twisted bricked one of his phones flashing a hero radio.
I hope you still have insurance

Is my phone really broken? Like ill never ever be able to use it again? Is there any way to fix this? Someone told me to press Alt-L because the box with arrows pointing at the screen is the recovery mode screen but when I press Alt-L nothing happens
Those are combined radio and ROMs for the Hero, not Hero ported to the Dream. At the top in big red letters it says:

So you flashed a radio not written for your device. Yes, it's a brick, you deserve a brick for completely ignoring the warnings...
I would say take it back to tmo, but as it's not a full brick, but a radio brick, they will know it's not an over the air update that caused it.
What do I tell t-mobile? I bought my phone on ebay..I dont even know if it has insurance or anything and I do not use a data-plan im using a t-mobile prepaid sim.. theres noway for me to fix this?
call HTC and talk to them, they will fix it on your dime. Basically you call them, they will tell you there is a "$29 or less triage fee", and give you an RMA number. Basically what they are saying is, without your approval, the charge to look at it will be less than $29. That includes shipping back to you. I would think a reflash would be a fairly cheap procedure. I have used HTC for repairs before and they really went over and above for me.

Oh, you're not a tmo customer....then they won't replace it for you. Only if you bought it from them. Enjoy your brick.
Theres nothing that I can do to fix a radio brick!?
here is the contact info for HTC-Tmobile repairs

this is getting a bit old, NO, there is no fix for what you did other than sending it in for repair. Nobody but HTC has the ability to fix your type of brick as of right now.
Ok..can you tell me what I should tell them? My phone is rooted, doesnt that mean they wont accept it?
Worst thing you can do is tell them the phone is rooted. If you've got a data plan and everything with T-Mobile, tell them that you installed an OTA update and that this problem happened.
Last time I had a brick, that's what I told HTC. They fixed it for free, all I had to pay for was the shipping.
I do not have a data plan though..thats the thing im used t-mobile prepaid, so your saying not to tell them that my phone is rooted? Wont they know though?
No, they can't tell. If you don't have a data plan with them, they won't help you. That's what they did to me since I just have a regular plan.
This is when you go to HTC. Find their support number on their website, and call them. They'll give you the address to send it to, and they'll repair it for 1-2 weeks. They pay for return shipping.
Also, tell them that there was an OTA update, you pressed "ok", and after that the phone would not reboot. DO NOT tell them anything related to you rooting it, flashing, etc.
Ok thanks... so since I dont have a data plan they wont help me fix it? I sent them an email anyways
No, but you can give them a call and see what they say.
I just know from experience that they've turned people down as well as myself in the past.

I would imagine since that's a hardware problem they wouldn't do much digging around. As long as you are on stock rom and don't have any obvious changes or root files.

The IMEI was changed probably ba ESN, wont they use the IMEI to check warranty? Either way i dont believe they would keep the phone as its not illegal to change anything on the device (I think).

I highly doubt they would keep it. They may check against serial number as far as warranty but I've never dealt with HTC directly. I want to say HTC's warranty is a year and no HTC one has been out a year so every HTC One is still covered by warranty. If anything comes of it just play dumb and say you bought it on Ebay.
When I had to send my One back to get its screen repaired, I asked the rep I was on the phone with about the bootloader. He told me that the bootloader/ROM only becomes a problem when they can't flash it to stock for whatever reason, in which case the repair center will charge extra for the hassle of reflashing your phone. I was also told that flashing my phone to as close to stock as possible should be fine. I doubt they check your software any more than this. As with the "keeping the phone" deal, they probably wouldn't do such a thing unless it was listed as a stolen phone and some agency forced them to keep it.
My broken (shattered glass) screen wasn't covered by the warranty so they probably didn't check my warranty status. It may be different in your situation, but I hope that this helps.
Its to repair the known issue of the red/blue/green tint on the camera, i just want to play safe and get a new camera or a new phone.

camera was not working after I received the fixed phone , it had same sprint frimware as the old one i checked the imei it was Sprint one , so I called him and asked if he have the phone box and send me Imei labeled on the box.
it was different imei , they changed the board right? [as this board camera is not working ]

No reason to flash the firmware for a screen change unless something else was going on also. If a hard YES was not given to flashing the firmware, he has standing for a lawsuit if it is that critical. No reason to flash the firmware for a screen change.

They might have changed the board. Flashing the firmware sounds like a cover because someone didn't want to admit their mistake and eat the cost. They might have found a model like the one in question and used it as a donor. IMEI not the same as the box is almost proof. More correlating numbers are needed to prove that. Still might not be able to prove a board change without disassembly and inspection because of the firmware flash.

Hope you got a receipt for the service and kept whatever paperwork you signed for the work done. Hope you took pictures of the process. Taking it to another cell phone shop for them to disassemble and check would have been better as they are independent of the initial problem. Take your proof to them and ask them to replace what they messed up with a "non-hacked" together phone. They will lie and try to turn the issue around or just deny it all together.
I would let them know that it is a safety liability issue with no heat shield, screws and taped down parts. They are legally liable if the phone catches on fire and burn a house down because of their shoddy work. A mechanic is responsible for the damage to a car if he didn't repair the brakes as any mechanic would is responsible if the brakes go out and a accident happens. Same principle here except with phones. All expenses you made/make to get the phone to a proper condition need to be reimbursed by them. All other expenses need to be made by them to correct the mistake they made. Do it right or do it twice, bottom line. Don't take a replacement from their stock because you know what type of work they do.
If they don't want to get it right, blast them on the internet so no one will go to them. Keep it simple and business and don't make it personal with attacks. Just state the facts. Get them to publicly lie or admit their mistake. You can write to them also to get a paper record of what happened. Doubt that they will write back. You need some type of record of what happened. This might be enough to get them to replace it with something not from their stock or enough proof to take to a court. You might get expenses plus damages.
I'm no lawyer, just what I know from repair work on cars and computers. I have broke simple stuff and had to buy new parts not related to the repair just to do the repair I was paid for. That's the nature of repair work no one likes to talk about. No one likes to be taken advantage of.
I'll be shooting for a new phone or money to get a new phone.
