Hello all, just upgraded my Samsung Captivate (great phone for hacking, rooting!) for this phone.
Last night I was watching a lot of YouTube videos on wifi and the phone would randomly reboot.
Settings and cures:
Disabled all of the ATT apps. I was using their wifi management tool, but disabled it after I thought it was causing the reboots. I was able to watch four or five videos in a row, then the reboots started again.
Had Amazon Appstore installed and PSM store. Uninstalled PSM and it did not stop the reboots.
Tried resetting settings, it did not stop the reboots.
Factory Data Reset (which is what the ATT store would have me do if I called them)
It appears to have fixed the reboots, but it's also using a YouTube version at least 1 or 2 versions old. I'm wondering if that's the problem. I did try to uninstall the update last night, but I didn't reboot the phone. I think it was still using the new version of YouTube.
I'd like to know if anyone else has had this problem with the Xperia TL (I found some that have, but no resolution beyond using tubemate??)
I'm going to update my youtube app tonight I'll let you know if the reboots return. I watched a dozen or more videos on the old version this morning and it was rock solid even with stream loss.
So after updating YouTube to the latest version and re-install the Amazon appstore it's still humming along fine. I viewed probably 20 - 30 videos in a row last night with no random reboots.
That leaves disabling the ATT apps.
EDIT:
Disabled the same ATT apps I had disabled before and still no random reboots... Chalk it up to something screwy on the original configuration. It seems to be all fixed.

So since Rogers updated us to froyo (yes this is the canadian i896 model) I've been having the problem lately where it just won't play media files anymore.
I'll notice this when I go to watch a youtube video and it'll say "problem playing touch to retry", then I'll go try to play an mp3 and it'll say "cannot support this file type", so I'll check a video and get the same. The pisser is that it won't play notification sounds or ringtones either as it seems to be all connected.
Now these are files that played fine only some time ago, so I dont' know what caused it to stop being able to play.
If I power down / power up the phone things are back to being copacetic. Just a pain as it takes about a minute to power down, and then at least a minute to boot back up.
Samsung suggested i just reset the whole phone - which I'm not enthused to lose a lot of data (some of my programs just don't allow backups).
I've taken the scientific approach and run each of my programs one at a time with after running it, checking it with with a media player to see if it'd stop working. nothing.
I've deleted/uninstalled a lot of programs to ensure it was running on only what i truly wanted. nothing
I just don't want to reset my phone - that would suck.
It just seems to happen at random. Literally I watched a video, put the phone down, went to bed, woke up the next morning and it didn't play. Now who know s what background apps were going on... but how can I control that..
any help/suggestions?
I have the same phone with the same issue
I have a new theory-
I noticed that it happens after I get a notification that my battery is full.
It sounds silly but it's the only thing I noticed that affects it.
I'll keep on testing..
heard the official twitter app causes some issues - uninstall it to fix
i uninstalled - so we'll see if it fixes
So after setting up my One on Wednesday when it arrived in the mail I had issues with Google store being EXTREMELY slow when downloading/updating apps. It took me half hour to DL an app that was under 4mb. I thought at first that it was my dual band N router so I did the steps of troubleshooting that and rebooting it but still had the same issues.
After nothing seemed to work I did a hard reset as I had skipped through most of the setup prompts while on the phone with CS activating the phone. I think that after the hard reset it was doing the same thing for a few minutes but then seemed to kick in and it was blazing fast to DL and install the apps. Youtube was also giving me issues before where it just wouldn't play anything or would play the first video but if I tried to play another one it would just hang. This also fixed itself and all was good after that.
Well last night I rooted and installed VIPER and did a wipe before turning it on. And again the latency came back. Since it seemed to flash on top of the stock ROM I had cleared everything but the folders on the phone's memory. The latency was still there and it again only seemed to affect Youtube and the Play store. I had given up after clearing the cache on both apps and went to bed around 1am. Just for the heck of it I tried to download another app and this time it blazed through again and all seems to be working again. It seems like it fixed itself after a few hours from my last wipe.
Has anybody else experienced this? I'm going to keep putting it through its paces to see if it comes back again. I'm hoping that it was just some issue with the updating of the Play store or the phone configuring itself fully at some point, don't know. At first I thought it was something with the antennae but I noticed that the internet and other apps worked fine and fast. It just seemed to affect the Play store and Youtube.
Does anyone know if both were having issues recently? I doubt it since like I said, this issue seemed to happen both times on initial setup.
Having the same issue even when connected to WiFi. Have you found a fix yet?
Sent from my HTCONE using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I purchased a XT1064 for my wife. She has been experiencing the following issue
At random when trying to play videos via the youtube app the video plays for maybe half a sec and then stops. You see the play icon and you can press it all you want but the videos only play for half a sec
I cleared all the data and tested then uninstalled updates and data and tested and then uninstalled the app and same thing.
Only thing that corrects issue is rebooting the device
Then after maybe a day or 2 the issue returns
Any clues? Couldn't find any similar threads on this
So I just installed the latest update for my P7 v 3.0 (b609), and now apps are kind of resetting while I'm using them.
For example:
- using the camera and if I'm in the settings, after 20-40 seconds the apps resets, goes out of settings and back to camera.
- Watching movies on youtube every 20-40 seconds the movie stops. and I have to start it again.
- watching snaps on snapchat every 20-40 seconds the app resets and goes out of the snap im watching...
Anyone have similar problems, or know what to do about it?
EDIT:
So apparantly i fixed it. Not sure how, but camera no longer resets, I can watch a whole youtube video without interruption, and snapchat is working.
The stuff I did between writing first post and now is, downloaded Root Checker, updating Kinguser, downloaded snapchat again.
Stuff that didn't work: factory reset phone, change screen from 1080 to 720.
Hope this can help others with similar problem, and that I don't get those problems back
Lately it seems that my stock Note 5 plays videos once out of every 5-6 tries. It struggles to play videos I recorded too. Most of the time when I try to play a YouTube video it will play the first few frames then starts to stutter then stop playing altogether. I thought it was a YouTube thing so I uninstalled it's updates, cleared data and disabled it, then re-enabled it, updated it and still had issues. I also have noticed I have the same issue with Snapchat, Facebook, TheCHIVE and other apps. I'm running stock 5.1.1. I read somewhere about going into developer settings and turning off NuPlayer and use AwesomePlayer instead. I tried that but it yielded the same result. Does anyone have any other ideas? I really don't want to wipe the phone.
Anyone? I cant seem to find the root cause of the issue :/
