So, which phone is next for you guys? - Motorola Atrix HD

Well, its 2013, we have the SGS 4, HTC One, Goophone i5s and some other unannounced phones such as Moto X.
We all became very close in this forum and its time for us to all move one, so where is everyone moving on to?

definitely the goophone i5s. You got the best of both worlds of android and iphone 5. The iPhone 5 build quality, with Android 4.1.2. Cant beat that, especially when you could of had it for $100!
http://android-sale.com/goophone-i5s.html

The Blackberry Z10!
No, but seriously I'm honestly waiting for later in the year. There's a lot of talk about an Ubuntu phone and a Firefox phone. So I'm just going to wait it out and see which is the coolest.

I am afraid to see the specs of the X, I really want motorola to not screw it up.

No need to afraid bro its sure game changer and i think Another i mean Atrix 4 Coming to AT&T Before X

Thunderbird i5 MTK6588
or
SGS4

My next will come as a shocker to some but it wont be a future phone. My next will be the Samsung Galaxy S3.
Lets be honest, the main reason why most of us have the AHD was because the maxx battery which made the phone highly pleasurable and very sexy.
Samsung just released the OEM 3k mah battery for the SGS3 which is big news because its also removable so when I travel I can bring extra and never be without juice because I am backpacking with extra battery.
Also the sgs3 has a very sexy camera, the AHD camera looks like chit.
Sgs3 also supports exfat with memory card which means I can have a 64gb microsd with full x264 sexy files at over 4gb a file.
With the sgs4 coming out the sgs3 price will surely be more pleasurable on the aftermarket.

Is it possible that the x phone turns out to be the nexus 5?

I am getting the SGS3 when the SGS4 comes out because itll be cheap on ebay and I am not set for an upgrade and im not going to drop $600 on a phone.

most likely the S4 for me or might scoop a nexus 4.

I'll wait until CM10 stable on AHD. No need to rush for a new phone. Android phones waste your money. They are racing at each other. Want to be a super phone above all which still can't defeat a computer.

I don't plan to switch phones until something competes with the battery life I get and has quite a bit better specifications than this.

Exchanging the Bionic for the Samsung Charge or HTC Thunderbolt

I can change (for free) my device for either the HTC Thunderbolt or Samsung Charge
Both have 1GB of RAM
My question is, with 512 of RAM (which sucks), I was able to survive with the Tmobile G2X for 6 months
Now, I tested the quadrant score and it's 1700
With a single core the result is 1300
So the dual core devices (as least according to Quadrant) are around 30% faster
Anyway, if I stay on Verizon, which device would be a better option and why?
Maybe dual core is cool but it's not enough
do you guys think I should switch to Sprint in order to have the Samsung Galaxy S II?
I DO NOT consider Sprint, AT&T or T-Mobile to have 4G yet.
I have never seen speeds of >=14000 kbps like Verizon 4G LTE
So I consider those carriers 3.5 G or something like that
I like the Samsung Galaxy S II but that device will NOT be able to reach speeds of 14 000 kbps like the Samsung Charge on Verizon
So I might get 30% more CPU power but the internet speed is 3 times slower
So, in simple words, will you either have internet speed or 30% more CPU power?
And the most important question, is dual core so important that it's worth it to have a slower internet connection as long as I have the dual core?
I am thinking switching to Sprint, but I tested the HTC Thunderbolt today and it looked alright
Anything but the Bionic, it sucks, screen sucks
Would be prudent to ask these questions to owners of those devices.
The bionic is a killer phone and I love the screen

Actually, I just went through this guys history, he simply takes every chance possible to bash the screen and this "horrible" phone he's had for 4 days of use. I can't tell if this guy works for another carrier or is just trolling the Bionic board....
I only had the Charge for 12 days before I turned it in. The only thing I miss about it are the gorgeous blacks. Other than the screen, I never saw anything spectacular about the phone that set it apart from my Incredible and now my Bionic.
If you're wanting to change phones because of the Bionic's display, I suggest the Charge, but that's simply because of all the battery woes that you hear about the Thunderbolt.
If you have another problem that you want to switch for, let me know and Ill do my best to let you know what it was like on the Charge.

Confused?
The dual core, do you see a BIG difference?
Because my dual core is SLOW, but I have 512 MB of RAM with my G2X, so I think RAM is more important in this case, then CPU
It would be super cool to have a good phone with Dual Core, 1GB of RAM, 4G LTE (Verizon) and super nice screen
so the HTC Thunderbolt is all of that except the dual core (from my own experiment today I'd say that gives a 30% boost or so)

Well I went to Verizon today and I installed Task XP and Advanced Task Cleaner Pro
I killed all the apps and had around 400MB of free ram, which is all I need
anything around 400-500 I would say produces a pretty good lag-free device
Also, just for the records, I have a Samsung Tab 10.1, so if I want to browse websites, I will use my tablet
I want my phone basically to tether, use it as a GPS, and check email, and check websites every now and then
if it doesn't performs awesome while watching a flash video or watching a MP4 or MKV movie I don't care too much
Even if Netflix sucks I don't care, again, the Samsung Tab 10.1 is for that
Basically I switched from Tmobile because at Best Buy, Frys, WalMart... I would have zero connection
I would really like to use the phone to make Skype phone calls as well
Well, obviously basically any phone will do most of you stated.
The MP4/MKV is pretty decent on the Charge. Only problem I experienced was when I was watching an Assassin's Creed video, about 8 minutes in, the video would stutter in action. Which I wasn't really happy with.

Out of the millions of people who bought a Bionic, if only 10-15 people returned theirs then that is an excellent ratio. The screen is great, battery life is 3x the Thunderbolts, the speed is AMAZING, the Bionic isn't perfect but with some Roms out it will be.

Sticking with Cappy until SGSIII release?

Sgs3 was severely underwhelming..
with no external sdcard slot, and AT&T is only going with the 16gb version, and it's going to have just a dual core cpu.
I got a note a couple months back using my upgrade, with the intention of selling it and getting an sgs3, bit with those negatives, my note has the pretty much the same cpu, with more space options, and of course a nice huge screen.
TL;DR
sgs3 FTL
I am going to wait a bit to see what the dev community does to it and how the phone performs.
The cappy in my area has pretty bad signal, which I chalk up to a not strong enough internal radio. Trying various modems helped a bit but still pretty poor.
More of a hardware issue I think. My Blackberry Torch 2 gets full bars where my cappy might get 2 or 3 at best.

All SGSIII variants have an external sd card slot. AT&T is selling a 16GB one for $39 to make up for their "only selling a 16GB version" mistake.
---------- Post added at 11:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:09 PM ----------
I've been waiting for this phone for a long freaking time. Now AT&T is the only carrier not selling 32GB...it really pisses me off. I mean, who cares about a RED phone??? Give me that other 16GB of space.
I live in a rural area with no LTE and a lot of spotty 3G coverage. Mix that with my 2GB/month cap and "living in the cloud" just isn't an option.
So my choices are (1) suck it up and deal with limited storage on AT&T where I can have the phone June 19; or (2) Wait an extra 2.5 weeks for it to hit Verizon and change carriers. The fact that Verizon will be enabling global data on their version might be the clincher for me.
Nope, sticking with my cappy till I see something worth getting. SGS3 is not it, and that's all I'll say.
Really I'm waiting for phones built for ICS, which is nothing out now nor coming in the next few months. They were all designed for GB, and it shows
-xda app, too lazy for something interesting to say-

This guy knows it. I got my Captivate off of craigslist, and I plan to do the same with SII once SIII releases.

[Q] Would you recommend an Atrix HD?

Hello, I'm currently using a Motorola Defy, but I need a phone with a bigger screen, so I can edit documents, like word, excel, etc...reading PDF documents, browse on the web a little bit more comfortable, not gaming since I don't play a lot on the phone; that being said, would you recommed a Motorola Atrix HD to me? I was planning to make a BIG effort to get a Samsung Galaxy S3, but, checking on the specs of both, the screen is almost the same, the camera quality is almost the same, I know Motorola Atrix is 2 cores and Galaxy S3 is 4, but for my normal usage 2 cores is more than enough and the difference on the price is also a big plus.
I have being offered with a good deal for the Atrix HD, what do you say? take it or leave it? I would highly appreciate your comments, thank you.
EDIT: this device can be rooted? talking about Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC One X, these can be rooted?
The latest HTC One X and the Motorola Atrix HD both share the fact they cannot be rooted. You have to get an older HTC One X if you plan on getting root/romming it. While I am not a big Sammy fan, they would be your best bet for rooting.
Well, rooting is important for me :S despite the fact that the phone is not able to be rooted so far...would you recommend it? thanks you!
Despite the non-rooting, I would say that the AHD is a top quality phone. Yes, the SGIII is more powerful machine, but for the $50 I paid for AHD and the $199 I would have paid for the SGIII, it is worth ever dollar.
Just inquiring to how the sg3 is a more powerful phone?
ATRIX HD feels like much more solid phone.
They both have the s4 processor, Same GPU, and the ATRIX HD has better resolution.

It has 2GB of memory, much better camera, and some of its NFC capabilities is superior, and its info says that it is compatible with the 64 GB sdcard unlike the AHD and the internal sdcard for GSIII is 16GB / 32GB and the AHD only has 8GB

2 GB of ram goes a long way. I know there's a fair amount of wasted ram not being used, but it really does make a difference. The removable battery is a huge bonus and the amount of development on this phone is shockingly underwhelming compared to any variant of the Galaxy S3 (obviously, since global sales of that phone are now over 30 million units). That said, the Atrix HD is a fantastic phone for $49. While Touchwiz has a lot of cool features, Motoblur feels much more polished (in my opinion).
It basically comes down to what you're looking for in a phone. If it's a flagship handset that will be updated by the manufacturer for the duration of your contract and also has the most development of any phone not named Nexus, then the Galaxy S3 is the obvious choice. If you're looking for something a bit cheaper, don't care that it doesn't have all the latest features (pitiful internal storage, gross multi tasking, and no NFC come to mind) but for all intents and purposes does everything a Galaxy S3 can do, then the Atrix HD is a great choice. I like this phone a lot, especially at its price point. However, as soon as the Note 2 drops and doesn't cost ~$800, I'll be moving to that. This phone will never have the developer following that either Samsung phone will have and I won't be stuck for the duration of my contract with a phone that has reached its life expectancy 8 months into my contract.

I'm stuck trying to decide which way to go also. My contract just went up but i'm not renewing until I see the new phones at the end of the year. But until then i'm gonna get something. So i've been checking out the atrix hd and one x. I found a good deal on both. 200 for a brand new in box ahd or 280 for a rooted mint condition one x. After playing with both at the at&t store, i'm leaning towards the ahd just because I like the interface better. I like the almost stock ics. But after reading through the forums i'm not so sure anymore. Not being able to save apps onto the sd card really sucks. I don't understand why motorola would do that. Other posts about dead pixels, gps/wifi issues, led notification, phone won't turn on, etc. I don't know if it's worth it anymore. Since i'm not buying from retail I won't be able to return/replace if I have any of these issues. I'm not too worried about root as i'm sure someone will figure that out eventually. I'm gonna buy one of these tomorrow, I just hope I get the right one.

Having had both I would definitely go with the One X. The 16 gb of internal storage with no micro sd card slot is a real pain in the ass, but the better screen, camera, and form factor definitely make up for it.

Honestly it's all really a matter of opinion. I personally would go with the Atrix HD simply because of the microSD card slot alone....internal storage can be EASILY filled up these days, whether it's music, videos, pictures, applications, and/or games. Having a 32 GB card in my Atrix certainly alleviates the storage issue. Also, the Atrix HD's camera isn't nearly as bad as some people would claim, and has only been further improved with the latest firmware update (particularly with noise and low light performance). As for the screen, both have lovely screens so it would be hard to go wrong with either.

It's a tough decision you have, but I would still go with the Atrix HD. The build quality on my phone has been fantastic and I have had no issues whatsoever with anything. As for not being able to save applications onto the SD card, that is not something that Motorola actually chose to do - rather, it was the choice that Google made when they designed Ice Cream Sandwich. You won't be able to save apps to external memory on the One X.
Also, root shouldn't be an issue for too long.

My main gripe with the ahd is the fact that you can't save apps to the external sd card. WTF. No other phone does that. And they're slick about it too. There is no mention about that only that they have expandable memory as if they're better than one x non-expandable. At least the one x has double the space for apps. I bet there are a ton of returns because of that and unhappy customers hitting their app limit not knowing it can't save to the sd. Besides that, I really like the phone and I still might get it..lol

I was under the impression Motorola made that decision. If not, WTF google! Even though the one x doesn't have expandable sd, you can use all of the 16gb internal for apps. I do like the build quality of the atrix better than the one x. I don't really care about the camera as that's not my thing. I'm just disappointed that i'll only have about 5gb available for apps. Let's just hope this thing gets rooted and this whole issue can be fixed with a new rom. Thanks for the inputs guys.. I still have a few hours to decide which to get. I'll post up my purchase later today.

Finally got the phone.
Love it!! Runs so smoth and fast and display is just awesome!!:good::good:
Although I own a Atrix HD and love it. But, I probably would have passed the Atrix HD, if I knew the root is not gonna be available for this long. I'd rather get an HTC one where root is possile.

Most One X's sold in the last two months are un-rootable. An OTA (2.20) in early august prevents rooting, which is required to unlock the boot loader (by spoofing a different device because the AT&T version is not supported), which is required to install custom recovery, to flash ROMs. If easy root and ROMs is your goal you want a Samsung device.

Any note 4 users getting nexus 6p?

Lonnnng time note user here. Had note 2, 3, and 4. Think I'm going the nexus route. Samsung has been good to me but.......what are your thoughts note 4 users?
No removable battery and no SD card=no sale. I'm hoping LG V10 pro is 6"but I'll probably go LG next time.

It's one of the phones on my "maybe" list. The 128gb model isn't too horrendously expensive, so I could probably live with it. I'm definitely going to wait and see what else LG comes out with though.
I'm just not feeling the LG stuff anymore. It kills me that these companies drop expandable memory like a bad habit.
Yup. I ordered the 6P in graphite with 128 GBs, shortly after the site went live. I can deal with the no SD card and irremovable battery since it's 3450 mAh.
Plus, the screen is from Samsung's latest gen so it's better than the Note 4's screen. The Nexus imprint and front facing speakers are amazing, and I won't have to rely on T-mobile to push out updates. Can't believe most of us have to flash a custom rom to be up to date with 5.1.1. The days of waiting are finally over.
I am however going to miss my S-Pen. Doodling in snapchat will be sorely missed
Waiting for Google to decide that sales aren't good enough via Internet and sell through the carriers so I can Jump.

No one thinks it is weird that the LG V10, a premium device, is going to use the same processor and GPU combination as the Nexus 5X but with twice the resolution and twice the RAM? When someone tells me that they can't run a game on their PC I don't ask them how much RAM they have. Someone, somewhere thinks throwing more RAM in it is a cost-saving upgrade for sluggishness.
If people buy this phone it sends the message that we don't care what silicon is in the phone as long as it "feels premium" and that is a ridiculous notion. Seriously, check out these tests: http://www.phonearena.com/news/LG-G4-benchmarked---how-does-the-Snapdragon-808-fare_id68814 It wins in a few categories and but loses in GPU testing. At least get the 14nm Samsung Exynos if you're going to upgrade.
I ordered the silver one with 128gb. I miss having pure Android. I never rooted and flashed any ROMs on my Note 4 b/c I didn't want to lose wifi calling, but now that it's baked into Marshmallow, getting the 6P was a no brainer for me. Would have loved it in the 5X form, but oh well. I thought I would use the functionality the Note 4 more than I did; I barely use the S Pen. The only thing I might miss would be the ability to have two or more apps open at the same time, but I'm sure there is or will be an app for that.
You guys get it report back on your experience. I'm going for the 6p as well.
Nah, just going to stick with the Note 4 probably till the end of next year. I like the Nexus', but I don't /love/ them. Too many compromises. Nothing has really come out that makes me go "damn i need that!"..
^other than the timely updates.

Maybe. That processor is a let down IMO, I would have preferred the exynos. Front facing speakers, 128gb well priced...strong maybe. Not sure if it will be "faster" than my note 4 with a custom ROM. I want to get off Samsung for awhile to show my disdain for them screwing up the note series ( I have owned all four iterations).
Im probably going to get the LG V10. Has the IR blaster, removable battery, micro sd, fingerprint, great camera and features. Only downside i see is that its using Snapdragon 808 which is getting outdated.

I told myself that I am getting a Nexus this time around because I'm tired of dealing/waiting on a 3rd party for fixes/updates and I miss the huge amount of development. The last Nexus I had was the 5, which was also my first, and I loved that phone. I ended up replacing it for a HTC ONE (M8) and then I tried like hell to get the Nexus 6 when it came out, but then I went with the Note 4 because it was a little better and I was tired of waiting.
The whole thing with the removable battery and SD card slot has become more of a nuisance lately rather than something I look for. I would much rather carry around a battery pack than an extra battery because I feel that it's more convenient and has more features... My phone isn't the only I carry around that needs charged. And with the phone being available with 128GB I see no need for an SD card slot anymore... I have a 64GB card in my Note 4 right now and it's only 3/4 of the way full.
Ultimately it came down to the quality of the device along with the service it comes with and the dual front-facing speakers that I sorely miss from my HTC ONEs... and who knows, I might just try out ProjectFi.

How is the 808 outdated lol? It's comparable to the 810 and both are more than capable of handing anything and everything... you're not missing out on anything. Even if the 820/620 were to come out tomorrow the only thing you'd be really missing out on, that's even remotely noticeable, is better power efficiency.

I highly doubt any software within the next 2 years will need any more power than we currently have. The 810 was announced in April of 2014, but I don't think it was until July '14 that it was actually in a device. A year from now the 810 will only be 2 years old, but still far from outdated/worthless.
I like keeping my phone update to the newest and most secured firmware. I don't believe I should have to wait six months to a year to get that. So, yes I will be switching. And will be going to project fi.

Nah I'm going to give my wife the note 4 I'm tired of Samsung bullcrap too much bloat.. I know people said rood but I shouldn't have to deal with that
I'll get one as a backup device... It can't replace my Note 4 for functionality.
Of course I'll wait until user reviews are out. I no longer feel the need to buy a device the day it's up for presale.
UPDATE: Now I'm looking at the new WIndows Phone... That may be a better backup device.
I most Def would get it but since you can only purchase online and you can't jump to it imma wait for the next phone that isn't Samsung

OP3T or XFX RX 480 GTR

Just wondering which one is worth buying over. I currently have the OPO.

Decisions, decisions. Depends on how comfy you are with your current situation, and how much you like gaming.
Sort of in a similar predicament either way, as a 490 is due out soon.
480. I'm using the OnePlus X and its fantastic. It has similar specs to the One and if its as good as this is then I wouldn't do it. Wait another year or two. I'm personally not bailing until it becomes impossible for me to compile the latest version of Android for it lol

They may well do, but the 10 series is one of the biggest leaps in graphics power for a long time.... the 1060 which is close to the entry level card is more powerful than the 980GTX which was the top card of the last generation excluding the Titan... which the 1070 destroys... I was always an AMD man, but they're just not close at the moment... heat, power, noise etc.
I returned my OP3 just last week and hope to get the 3T next week if it's easily available, but I'm also about to build a new gaming rig from scratch as well. My budget is $800, but since I decided on an i5 6600K and either a GTX 1060 6GB or an RX 480 8GB variant, I'll need to raise the budget to $1000 to keep the standard these parts demand. I'm not about to settle for a sketchy power supply, hard drive, or cheap corny looking case... I haven't seen any "crazy" deals for Black Friday, do you guys know if Cyber Monday is different when it comes to PC parts?
