I have a samsung 5830D and all signs are pointing to it being hard bricked can someone tell me if this is the case? I am able to go into download, ramdump and emergency dload mode but no recovery mode? If I am in download mode I am able to connect odin to flash the phone, pda and csc but when it restarts it just flashes the samsung logo and restarts everytime. Can anyone tell me if this phone has a chance at being saved from downing? I have followed the methods listed in these forum to a T http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1225493 and the cygwin guide and the phone still does the same thing?
Thanks

I dont think that its a hard brick as once I had my phone hard bricked and I couldnot go even to download mode so its a softbrick, try flashing with Odin and if in vain nothing can make your phone come to life, Samsung store is ur solution
I believe this isn't a hard brick, as on a samsung device you would need have to lose the ability to get into download mode to call it a hard brick.

tha only thing that u can save ur phone is to flash full package not only one package coz tha main rison why it kips boot looping is that the bootloader has the iissue and never been fixed by only one package..try to flash full package with APPBOOT and it will continue booting..

Flash DDKQ8 Rom to your phone and you will be good to go ig its a soft brick
If you can get into download mode, you never need loose hope. I wondered if people wouldn't mind me hijaking with a related issue. My Ace is, for all intents and purposes, hard bricked (about a year ago, I had no idea what I was doing flashing roms so it's well deserved). However, I found out today that it can speak to my work computer, and xp even downloaded the drivers for me. No response on the screen, but booting into "recover mode" gives 2 lights on Odin. Anyone heard of this before?
Had a long time looking round the forums, and this is actually about the closest thread for me.

Hi, I have i9000 with unworking 3 keys combo, and i use the adb reboot download turn the phone into 'downlpoad mode', then use Odin3_v1.0.exe to flash new firmware. But it just stop at "DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET!!", and 30mins nothing happen, then i remove the phone. The phone get Bricks, cant turn on anymore. any one can help me? and can anyone upgrade the phone 3 keys combo disabled??
Offical service
adb reboot DOWNLOAD????
i think it could work.
I'm sorry if this sounds a bit hard, but: There is a million warnings on this forum about flashing if your download mode key combo doesn't work. If you get the phone>!>pc screen, your phone is bricked (because you cannot use the button combo) and your only chance will be to try to return it and hope that the retailer is nice enough to replace it.

Where's fun if can't flash it?
Try:
Boot it to download mode with ADB.
Once in download mode, plug out the phone and start Odin.
Once Odin has started, plug in the phone.
Otherwise Odin will hang.

And if the flash fails for some reason and the phone reboots, you have a bunch of spare parts for the new SGS you buy...
that is how the OP got his phone bricked! did you not read the rest of what he said?
he already did it via this method

sending the phone in to the store for service is the only way to "fix" it, as they will likely have to replace the phone for you, expect 4 weeks wait time
I have a friend with this prob too, I made a ROM backup of my phone and flashed his that way.

Point being that the phone must be plugged in after Odin has been started not before.
Even my phone hangs if it is plugged in before Odin is running.
Hi people!
I got bricked my galaxy mini gt-s5570, but not totaly (that means I can still use the download mode, and RAMDUMP ARM9 mode) but I can't power up the phone. That happened after I used ODIN for gt-s5570 and changed the Kernel (I forgot to make backup before), and device was working well with the new kernel, but after it I use the same step in ODIN to get back to the old one. So the result is, when I'm pushing the power key the screen starts to blinks and nothing more! But as I say download mode, and ARM9 mode are still working. Any solution for this?
just download the new firmware from samfirmware.com n flash it thru odin as u can go to download mode..n ur phone will be back to life again..
i accidently pressed thanks on ur first post
I can't, I don't have access to recovery mode, it doesn't work!

I mean even when I flash an official rom with Odin, I still have the same problem, I am trying this since three days now and noway...
i think you tried to upgrade firmware not boot whenever you upgrade firmware it cant be downgrade it can just be more upgraded when you downgrade your firmware it will not boot up it will just show a black screen so just reinstall the firmware again and do not try to downgrade it
Hi everyone. Im not normally in this section as i have an x8 but my friend has seen all the roms, mods and updates ive done so he tried to do it to his galaxy s i9000 without rooting or unlocking his bootloader. I asked him what he did he said he just tried to update software with keis but now it wont turn on just white screen with a red triangle in the middle i hope its download mode as i dont have a galaxy i dont really no but the battery has died and it wont charge im guessing hes damaged the bootloader am i right and if so whats the best corse of action to tepair it. Thanks.
You can check if it is in download mode by pluggin it in pc with odin. See the wiki page what it says about soft brick.
Soft-Bricked
After flashing a rom you might not be able to enter the Download Mode by pressing Volume Down + Home + Power. In this case a so called 'JIG' would be helpfull.
You could build it on your own: [HOWTO] [REF] Get Download Mode without 3-button combo using homemade JIG
... or buy a preassembled one on a well known marketplace.Hint: There is no difference between a JIG for Samsung S/S2 or S-Plus.
See if you can go into d0wnload mode with vol down home and power. If that works go and try to find the stock firmware for the phone and download and extract. Download odin and put csc pda and phone/modem in there rightful places. 512 pit in pit section. Pit usually comes with odin download. If not find it somewhere. Repartition checked and hit start. It should reboot when done. It will problaby take a couple of min to boot but be patient. If it starts to go into boot loop put back into download mode again and reflash. Its very hard to mess up the phone to where you cant fix it. So relax and watch tuts or whatever helps you best. I know of a link i that i will find and post for you when i do.

DEAD bricked phone
So, my friend's phone (hopefully she'll stay my friend after this) was turning itself on and off all on it's own. So I (no good deed goes unpunished) suggested that I will upgrade her firmware for her. She had 2.3.3 firmware. I downloaded the odin1.7 as well as a package of all the info for 2.3.5 firmware upgrade. I flashed the phone- originally only using the PDA option with a file called: CODE_I9000XXJVS_CL565837_REV03_user_low_ship
It worked, the phone restarted and showed the firmware as being 2.3.5.
I don't know why, but I thought it would be a good idea to update the CSC and the pit and the modem as well- so I did that. when this was finished - though odin said that the flashing was successful the phone is completely unresponsive. The computer doesn't recognize it, it doesn't show any signs of life at all- like it's in the dark ages and there is no electricity in it.
HELP!!!
First question: do you think a jig will work? how dangerous is it?
second question: is there any other option to try that I haven't come across other than changing the motherboard, and if there isn't do you know where I can get one, bear in mind I live in Israel.
Please e-mail me a copy of the response to [email protected] if you can...
Odin dosnt pick it up atall plus the batteries dead aswell now and the stupid thing wont charge so i cant evan try any thing till i find away or some one to charge it but thanks for the tips.

Try to recharge the battery from other phone or use another battery.
Check whether you have the download mode working. (Home+Power+Volume down)
If yes, put phone in download mode and flash Darky RE or any other Rom via ODIN. Try to get the recovery mod after rooting and then try ROMs.
Or try restarting the phone it may work without update also. Long press power in download mode restarts the phone. However be careful.
What is the status of the device can you go to download mode
Post your firmware files name and how you choose in the odin flasher.
Dont try anything crazy you will bricked your device more:banghead:

Alternate way to Download mode
Hi gavster26
I have been there with a buddy's phone... not a nice place.
Found a link showing this other trick ... but you have to trial and error this one on the different combos:
1. Phone off
2. USB cable pluged in
3. Odin running
4. Down (or Up - test both) Volume button + Home button + plug in the USB cable.
This booted my dead "bricked" phone into download mode.
Try it.
soooooooo. I have a i9000m and i wanted to flash it using odin because cwm wasn't working and i googled for vibrant. so i didn't really pay attention to the title when it said ``captivate only`` http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989 it went through the odin process but phone didn't restart. it just turned off and stayed off so I unplugged and now, it just shows the at&t world phone white background screen. and keeps restarting. cant get to recovery or download mode. odin doesn't see it either. I read many forums and I think Im going to have to go with the usb jig but before I do Im just wondering if there's another method to get into download mode or some program or adb that can find the phone. thanks

If you click the link below ( My Android Collections), you can try Easy Reboot Recovery..using ADB or the Android Recovery Tools, they have options for various functions, preset by developers
yeah....using adb is the only possibility i would take into consideration too

I accidentally Flashed a vibrant rom on my i9000. When I finally did get it into download mode with the JIG, I flashed back to stock firmware with ODIN and It totally ruined my phone.... The screen went all crazy and it kept rebooting faster than odin could do anything to it.
Just be careful. Im really not sure what happened But its pooched now for sure. JTAG is my only option on that one
if u dont own JIG or u dont know how to use ADB . the other way is
remove battery from phone /sim card / sd card
take the USB connect with ur Laptop or PC ( dont use it with charger it will not work)
connect with ur phone , then u will see the black screen being lil bit lighter
pres the 3 combos button to enter download mode and then flash ur ROM
this always worked for me , i hard bricked 4 times already my phone :/
My device stop in a bootloader. I've tryed to flash with a odin(1.85, 3.07). And nothing. It is don't go to download mode.Only with a jig. The normal mode don't works. When a plug the micro usb, appear in the lcd a incomplete freeze circle. But, one time, the cell starts and works well. I don't know what is happen...

What rom were you trying to flash and what exactly do you see on boot up? Some roms disable the three button combination.

I try to flash some roms, the last one is the brazilian rom (zto 2.3.3). The cell phone stuck ins boot up ( where apears samsung galaxy s i9000b). I left for hours and nothing. The three button combination works perfect, but don't enter in recovery mod. Only one time, the cell starts, and works perfect, but when i reboot, stuck in a logo... I don't know whats happen with my cell phone...
Try this
First
Connect in download mode
Open ODIN
Re-Partition CHECKED
PIT: s1_odin_20100512.pit
PDA: I9000B_JH4_JI3_JH2_JH4_VJ_ARO.tar
Start
on finish Close ODIN and disconnect the phone
Power Off
Second
Connect in download mode
Open ODIN
Re-Partition UNCHECKED
PDA: I9000B-JV3_2_3_3_ARO.tar
on finish Close ODIN
