Hi,
I flashed my GT-p1 to the humberos 4.2.1 JB mod and now the only issue i'm having is that my wifi hotspot keeps changing its name in sequence each time that i connect to the AP via the PC
i.e. Hotspot Name "AP-Home" changes to "AP-Home 1", then "AP-Home 2" then "AP-Home 3" etc...
and each time i have to choose whether its "Home/Office/Public" profile (Windows 7) which is getting so annoying.
I'm on the 42nd name now, i.e. "AP-Home 42" and it keeps asking to choose a profile each time i disconnect & reconnect.
The IP address stays the same each time on the AP (GT-P1 AP)
Any idea's what may cause this problem?
Thx in advance.

Hi folks,
I hope you can help me as my Xperia suddenly started to show a very strange behaviour:
If I try to turn on WiFi in Comm Manager, the "waiting cursor" appears for about a second - then it says "WiFi on", but the "antenna icon" does not show up!
It's impossible to establish a connection over WiFi...
I've tried several things:
- I've re-flashed the newest radio ==> no change
- I've changed my ROM ==> no change
Now comes the weird part:
My new ROM (Xkan's Topaz V3.5) includes HTC Sense which also cares about WiFi settings etc. - the "connection tab" shows all the hotspots around me while Windows Mobile itself doesn't recognize anything...!?
By chance, I also found out that if I change something manually, e. g. my phone's IP address or the DNS server, WiFi is suddenly detected by WinMo and everything works normally...!?
Is there anybody out there who can confirm such a behaviour or has a solution for it?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
David
I was searching xda/ internet for answers, but didn't find any.. so here is my problem:
When i connect to secure wifi in windows mobile, I have to enter my username and password to connect to university (corporate ) network. Most of the times the connection works- no problem here. However, when I don't use the x1 for some time (wifi turns off) and then try to use internet again, the wifi does not always connect. The problem is that when the connection fails, WM 6.1 for some reason decides to delete my saved password and it asks me for it again (despite the fact that I checked the box "save password"). This becomes very annoying, and I end up entering the password 10-15 times per day. It for sure isn't a hardware problem, as when i'm running android, the settings are nicely saved and if wifi does not connect on first try, it will on second (or third..). But it will not require me to enter my password again. Is there any solution to this problem? Why wm6.1 deletes my wifi settings every time the connection fails on first try?
Hi.
My problem:
On my xperia x1 wifi will not turn on. When i go Comm Manager, and press wifi switch, the the progress circle is rotate, but the wifi is turned off. I press the switch and nothing happens, still turned off the wifi...
When i go settings, connections, Wireless Lan, the phone is write: "Wireless LAN is OFF. Turn on Wireless LAN" ....i press "turon on wireless lan", but also nothing happens, just select the Subtitle.
What's the problem???? PLS help.
Sorry for my bad english, i'm hungarian
Rather odd wifi issues...
I could connect when home (Alltell Fios Router) wifi, and to my D2 when in 3G/Tethering option without any issues.
Fios Router = WEP security,
D2 = wpa/wpa2 security -- both connect fine.
I'm at work, trying to connect to my company wifi, each time it fails to connect. i'm 99.9% sure they have Cisco wireless products here.
Basically, whats happening is that my NC finds the AP's around me, I select the one I normally connection to... wifi tries , then just says "disconnected".
I have another person at this site as well, who has CM7_18 Nightly and he's having the same issues (somewhat different).
Anyone having similar issues?
I've rebooted -> power on..nothing
powered off -> power on, not fixed
turned on Airplane mode, waited a few, turned on wifi, still nothing.
I can give as much information as possible to help resolve this issue.
Thanks!
I am starting to believe its my company wifi AP thats the problem. I tested connectivity with another co-workers 3G/Tethering and it worked just fine.
I havent tested with another public AP, but I'm starting to lean towards and issue with my AP's at work.
But yeah I think I'm connecting to a Cisco AP of some sorts...not sure if anyone else has this problem though.
Disabled WiFiAdHoc resolved my issue...
turn off wifiadhoc setting:
/system/etc/wifi/tiwlan.ini
...using Root Explorer, file will make backup once you edit.
-mount as r/w
-save
After i upgraded my galaxy tab wifi version with gingerbread using EU firmware, the "Wifi Turn On/Off" is behaving erractically. The Wifi won't turn off on trying to do so and will stay in status "Turning Off" all the time. After restarting the device, it will reboot with the WiFi turned on.
I tried factory reset and that sorted out the problem, till i configured the wifi connection and the problem returened back.
I any body else facing the same problem? Is it a problem with the firmware?

Hmmm... some ROM's seem to have a problem with routers. Check for The Overcome Wifi-fix...

I could have written that no P1000.
p1010 wifi problem I can not help. sorry...
This could be linked to the known DHCP lease problem.
Check the DHCP setting's on your router and ensure that the lease duration is something valid i.e. not infinity; set the lease duration of DHCP on your router to *anything* less than infinity.

There is no exact option of lease time in the router, but something called 'Idle Time' was there which had a value of zero, which i have changed to 999. Even after that the problem still exists.
Hi all,
i do have exact the same problem. I can not set a DHCP lease time on my router.
Does anoyone have a solution for this Problem with the Galaxy Tab P1010?
Firmware: 2.3.6

same issiu here..
I am using a GT-P1010 and am on the KPI firmware. I have been having intermittent connectivity issues which may or may not be related to what is being discussed here. Nevertheless I am going to try the following the next time my Wi-Fi drops out. You might want to do the same. While these may different issues, it might be worth a shot. Here is some information I have recently found.
Delete dhcp_list
Set Static IP
Basically (as mentioned by another poster above) these Tab's have issues when routers assign IP addresses using DHCP. Apparently the TAB retains the last known assigned IP address and try's to use it all the time. If your device was asleep and another device on your network grabbed that IP address, you are in for issues.
The dhcp_list file contains that information and if deleted the TAB will attempt to actually acquire a new IP address (lease) from your router. You must be rooted to delete that file.
The other option its to set a static IP. This will work great as long as you don't travel to another location and need to connect to another access point. If you do, you will need to return to the DHCP method of IP acquisition and your problems could return if you stay on that network long enough.
Lastly as discussed in some of the other forum posts from my second link above (great information in that entire thread btw) you can access your router and set it to assign the same IP address to your tab all the time. This will affectively insure that no other devices are able to acquire that address and you should be good from that point forward. As all routers are different I will not provide details of this method but it IS the BEST of all three options in my opinion. Basically you will need the mac address of your tab and it's current (working) IP address. Then set your router to assign that IP address to that MAC address.
Please post back if any of this works. Thanks!
Hi all.
I have set the IP Address in the Tab to a fix value and reserved the same IP Address in the Router for the TAB.
This does not solve the problem.
I can use WiFi perfectly. But when i try to disconnect my device by shutting down WiFi the device is stuck. The Button for WiFi is described as off, but the Color is green. And i am not able to reconnect to WiFi.
After rebooting the device it starts with WiFi turned on. In most attempts after rebooting i am able to turn WiFi Off.

Yeah .. sounds like a totally different issue then mine. Sorry it didn't work for you.
I solved the problem by downgrading to Froyo 2.2.1. Now WiFi works properly. The only problem is now, that i can not find all Apps in the Google Market.
And i am not able to activate the Screen Lock functions. I can set a PIN for unlocking but nothing happens.....

Hi.
I have the same problem, but it only happens when the wifi is open and has no password. If the wifi has password, it works fine.
My ROM is GINGERBREAD.XXKPG, 2.3.6.
Bye.
I have been having this strange wifi problem lately.. I am not able to connect to my home wifi network.
It says obtaining IP address but never connects.. This problem only occurred recently.. I was able use my home wifi before.
After googling around, i tried the following.
1. I went to advanced setting and used static IP. This time it got connected. But i was not able to connect to internet.
2. Did a factory reset.. Then flashed stock using ODIN. Still no luck.
3. I changed the encryption to WPA-PSK... Didnt work.
Can somebody help with this issue please?

Hmm..did u flash any kernel?
I had this problem when I tried to update busybox. But since you have re-flashed stock.
Are you sure its a problem on your phone and not with the router? Try connecting to a different router.
Sent from my GALAXY Ace.
Remove the WiFi connection from your phone, click on forget.
On your router, from the configuration page, change the WiFi security to open then try connecting using phone.
If it works then remove connection from phone again (click forget), and configure your router to WPA or any other such algorithm. Then connect again.
My brother has this problem, have you tried other wifi networks? It may be able to connect to other routers. What does it say after "obtaining ip address", does it connect or do you get disconnected?
