What happens if your phone goes into a boot loop and you must pull the battery in order to properly start the phone? Does HTC have a key function like holding the power button down to disconnect the battery or do you have to wait until the battery dies?

I am using Motorola Milestone, with 2 months warranty left.
Power button is not working and it drained off the battery last night. Now I am unable to start it. I am running a custom ROM. Without restoring to stock I will not be able to offer it for warranty.
It currently power off condition, how to start it without using power button?

Try removing the battery and plugging it into the wall charger to see if you can boot it up that way, you might be able to boot up enough to reinsert the battery and have it charge.

I booted it connecting to PC
In case somebody else has the problem:
I connected it to the computer without the battery and then inserted the battery...
I know that the OG always started when I plugged it in to the wall power adapter. I didn't have to take the battery out to force-boot it that way. Guessing the Milestone would be the same. Glad you got it working
I had a S i9000 with a cracked screen. I have replaced the screen and since I put the bits together the phone no longer switches on
If I place in the battery charger the battery appears on the screen and chargers normally but when I try to switch the phone on nothing happens.
Could please somebody give me any suggestions?
Is there any alternative way to switch on the phone?
Thank you
This may seem obvious but leave it on charge for 30 mins unplug then try turning on

Yes. I see the battery picture and the dots flashing
Suddenly, my tab is not opening without charging. If I disconnected my tab from charging, automatically it shuts down. What is the problem?? Should I change the battery. I'm using Android OS 2.3.4 and my tab is Galaxy Tab(SHW-180S).
Thank you.

That is POWER SAVER MODE, the battery is too WEAK to start the system, u should let it charge about 10 minutes , and try turn it on ....
Poeer off the tab then, let it charge for at least half an hour before trying to boot from battery.
With an empty battery it takes 4 to 5 hours to fully charge a tab.

Are u able to do a HARD RESET? ...Try this method?
This setting erases all data from your device, including
your Google or other email account settings, system and application data and settings, and downloaded applications. After
a reset, you’ll be prompted to set up your device the next time you turn it on.
1. With the device off, press and hold Volume Down and Power.
2. Release the Power button when you see the Samsung logo, but continue to hold Volume Up until the recovery screen appears.
3. Use the Volume buttons to navigate the menu and select wipe data / factory reset. Press Home to choose the selection.
4. Press Volume Up continue.
The Galaxy Tab should then go through the hard reset process.

hello everybody,
yesterday, when my phone was on the desk, it started to reboot.
it goes to the logo and then reboots again. I've tried booting into recovery mode and it's not having it (and I'm sure I'm doing it correctly). I can boot into Download mode, but only for a few seconds (about five) then it reboots again.
it sounds like the power button stuck down infact I can hold the home button and volume down and it'll boot into Download mode!
but I don't think the actual button is stuck, though. It still clicks.
i try to leave phone without battery for about one hour:no changes
So i decide to buy a new battery to exclude it from the list of possible faults, and the new battery work like the old one.
So i open the phone and clean it with crc spray to avoid oxidation problem (the phone was never in contact with water).
No changes.
So i test the power button and it seems work (i say seems because i'm not sure about how its working) i resolder it and no changes.
finaly i leave the phone without battery in the nigth (about six hours) and no changes.
during my internet research i found another guy that have same problem and he solves it leaving the phone without battery for 3 days(I can't post link...i'm noob)
I'm not sure what to do. There's no logical explanation for this to happen. It's been working fine up until now.

Good Luck On It

Hello.
I've left my phone in the hot sun for some time and it's not working anymore. When I try to power it on, the LG logo appears and screen+buttons flash continnously as if it's struggling to start but can't. *this is on battery, not plugged it.
When I plug it in charger It powers up, everything is working but it eventually reboots by itself. Sometimes it stays on 3 seconds, other times 2-3 mins, then reboots.
I've tryed wipe data/factory reset, wipe dalvik cache, reinstall ROM, wipe battery stats..nothing works.
So basically if I plug out the charger it instantly shuts down and starts trying to power up in a continnous loop.
Is the battery dead?
Thanks
I think so... You could try another battery but it is possible that you may have fried some guts as well. Was it on when you cooked it in the sun?

It boots when I power it on charger, but if I try to make a phone call or 'stress' the phone, it reboots. Without charger it does not boot.

Already tried a different battery? Its quite cheap and I guess some power cells might have died and that would explain the malfunction, when you "stress" the phone and it needs more power. Maybe it is able to deal with low power, but high output simply takes it down.

I didn't buy a battery yet because I can't find one. I'm on vacation (Italy) and at the local phone service they told me they don't know this phone and asked me where it's from . and if I want a battery they have to order it and it takes time.
That's why I came here, hoping for a nice "custom" solution for the problem.
I think the battery does not know how to charge anymore, anyone knows a good clean wipe/format for the battery? besides discharge it complety and wipe stats.(because I cannot discharge it, when it's plugged in it says 100% and if I plug out the charger it dies)
thanks for the replies mates.
