You should look for the digitizer. That's the touch screen part.

If I understand it is something for replacing a module in the XZ to get it enabled :
New wireless charging module for Sony Xperia Z L36h. This part is also called: inductive charging, wireless charging module. With this part the wireless charging module is replaced. Charging the Xperia Z without a wire requires a wireless charging kit/pad.

Wireless Charging Module?
So I am bringing this back up from the dead, but I just found this wireless charging module on rounded.com and I am quite intrigued by it. Has anyone found any more info on this part? Has anyone been able to find this part and install it? Pretty much, the only thing preventing me from buying a case is that I cannot use my dock. Obviously I can remove the case, but it'll only wear out the case or scratch up the phone.

Broken Xperia uses?

Hey there.
My Xperias screen is broken, the bottom half is dead but the touch is still working. The phone is fully functional except for this and that the slider is bent in the lower left corner a few millimetres. I am using my old K810i and I'm buying a new phone soon, but just leaving a functional Xperia to rot in a drawer seems a bit... uneconomical?
NOTE: I will NOT be repairing the screen. No, there is no insurance that covers a broken screen. No, I won't buy a replacement screen for 90 bucks. Don't suggest it, please.
What I am looking for are uses for this device now that I've decided not to repair it and rather get a new phone, so don't give me comments like "Why not fix it?", if you'd be kind. I want to utilize the phone as it is, maybe the keyboard can be connected to my PS3, maybe I can sell the phone, maybe I can use it as something else. All suggestions are welcome!
Thanks
/Felix
Anything else than selling it will require huge effort and good tech skills.
if you're not gonna fix it, sell it; it's basically useless. Give someone else the chance to resurrect it.

Hm.. since there are devices with a 480x480 resolution on WM6.1, I am thinking it might be possible to cook a ROM that uses 480x480 instead of 480x800 and therefore the part of the screen that's still working would be quite usable.
I don't know if this would really work or if anyone has ever even tried it, it's just an idea.
YE, lets cook a rom for one device oO
[x]sell it

It is safe, but not very well constructed, as the phone itself does not make contact with the plastic of the dock, so it only "wiggles" on the usb plug. I bought another one which is a lot better, and it can charge an extra battery as well: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/dual-u...th-extra-battery-slot-for-lg-optimus-2x-73031
...it uses mini-usb cables though, and the supplied power-adapter is not euro. (The supplied cable was too short to be practical for me.)
I'm in doubt between these two docks:

You've probably got one now, but thought I would comment as I have this one, and it's rather nice. It's a lot sturdier than it looks - I was afraid that it'd topple-over with the weight of the phone but it stays put.
My only gripe is the blue LED which illuminates my bedroom at night even when the PC is off, so I've stuck some black PVC insulation tape over it

I wouldn't say damage, but there is an indicator that tells if the device has had contact with water. And they can deny warranty claims if the indicator shows contact.
EDIT: Kinda like this. But on the inside. It's just a reactive strip.
http://www.instructables.com/id/Turn-Your-Cell-Phones-quotI-Got-Wetquot-Indic/
I know the Droids have had them. idk about HTC phones. I've only had the One series, and these didn't have removable backs.
EDIT EDIT: I was looking at the teardown of the One. Looks like the only thing that may resemble an indicator is on the battery. If water got that deep into the phone, you're screwed regardless lol.

Almost every device has one actually usually on the battery, or sticker behind the battery, or inside the headphone jack / usb slot.
It's to diagnose water damage and void warranties

There is a nice video on youtube disassembling a Galaxy S. The indicator plate is well visible. It's been used for a long time in many Android phones.
My girl friend had her Galaxy S got a defect home button. They refused the repair and said that it had got moisture and is thus out of warrenty (they offered to destroy it or send it back for 100 bucks, btw !!!).
As far as I know they used to use litmus paper in small dots which would change colour if it became wet.

Does anyone have the warranty/user guides, and can they see if there's anything about the standard operating environment especially maximum humidity? I think my phone's been borked by the South East Asian humidity.
They are often also in the headphone jack on phones that don't have a battery door. They'll be at the bottom of the jack so that technicians can just use a flashlight to check it out before disassembling the phone.
Actually most devices DO NOT have these anymore, as simple humidity would turn the indicators and give false readings. the only true way they can deny a warranty for liquid damage is the presence of corrosion, usually in the charge port, or on the mainboard if its a servicable device by the carrier. also if you hand it to them dripping wet.
The liquid indicator is actually hidden behind the flash on the back of the phone. The HTC First also has the liquid indicator located there.
**edit, to be more exact, it's located exactly to the right of the LED.

Yes I know of one place it's the white or yellow square next to camera,if it has red or a bit of black it's water damaged.

[Q] Touch stopped working!

I was taking photos in the pool and everything was fine. But after a few minutes outside the water, the touch suddenly stopped working. The water indicators are all white and everything but the touch are still working. I can even take pictures.
I have restarted, factory reseted, put a new firmware and nothing seens to solve it. Must be a hardware problem. Any sugestions?
There aren't any water indicators on Z1. You already did what you should. Last thing is to flash a new FTF via Flashtool and if this will not solve the problem then it's a hardware failure and go for replacement.

Hey Greg, I saw this page and sorry if I was rude in the last post but under my flaps there is not any kind of indicators, not even close. A picture of this indicators will help me to understand if I am wrong...
Googling "Xperia z1 water indicator" reveals that there actually is at least 1 physical indicator. Maybe it's model-specific or there are just a lot lot of people with a misunderstanding.
Either way, you should go for the warranty and contact the Sony support.
Since its only your touchscreen that stopped working, chances are good that it's can be repaired by an independent phone repair center, but that would cost a bit.
Good luck

Broke my screen, Sony wont fix it

Hello all, I am from India. The bottom half of my screen cracked and is not responding, the upper half works fine.
I tried contacting Sony for help, and they are asking 80% of the phones cost to fix it. Not exactly fixing, they wud give me a new ZR at 80% of the cost.
Should i go for third party screen replacement?, have no idea how reliable that wud be, but seems the only option right now.

I wouldn't suggest going for 3rd party replacement as the Z series has a very complicated assembly, there is a REALLY high chance that you would end up having a completly dead device

It should be fine to do that, as long as you make sure it's a place you can trust; make sure they're selling you the actual original display unit, rather than a Chinese knock off. I've had mine replaced twice, and the phone always worked fine afterward. The display is quite delicate, though; after the third shatter, I replaced the phone itself, because it was more cost efficient. [emoji13]
