Does anyone know of a keyboard the same size as the 7 that has a case like a clamshell to protect it? I have an otter box case on my 7, which I love, and would like to find a "rugged" use keyboard, too. The reason I'd like a keyboard the relative same size is the bag I usually carry would fit them both.
Ideas?

Lol. I spent too many hours reading keyboard reviews, too.
I finally ordered this: Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 for PCs, Tablets, Smartphones - Black (920-004292)
Its compatible with lots of mobile devices, backlit, and relatively flat (no protruding battery box). The only complaint was no home, end, pg up/down keys. But, on Logitech website someone says home is FN-left arrow, etc. so those keys *should* be implemented. I am waiting for delivery, so I can test.
Here is a comparison of K810 with some others where compatibility shown:
http://www.logitech.com/en-us/keybo...4&a5=5&a8=8&a6=6&a10=10&a7=7&a1=1&a3=3&a11=11
Unfortunately, I did not find anything waterproof or hardened. I did not like any of the small keyboards that serve as a cover for the Nexus 7.
Another minor advantage to a bluetooth keyboard is the Nexus 7 still charges while sitting in a dock. Because it stops charging when I connect my USB keyboard to OTG cable.
The *unique* feature of the K810 keyboard is the ability to pair with three devices and SWITCH between paired devices. The F1, F2, F3 keys serve as switches between three bluetooth paired devices. Can be seen here:
http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/bluetooth-illuminated-keyboard-k810?crid=26
I recently had to type a bunch of stuff into my Nexus 7 and found a small external keyboard was way faster than the touch keyboard, but the touch screen was faster than using a mouse. Therefore, I do not use a mouse.
I think the K810 bluetooth keyboard is perfect for my needs.
Ok found out this one. This one promises to be pretty cool with a built-in stand for Nexus 7, to make it look and work like a laptop. I was looking for one that can have a charging option for N7 while we are working and the battery gets low. Like an extra powerpack or something, but couldn't find one(or I missed out some results???).
Check it at this link.

I'm thinking maybe it will fit in my old Pelican 1080, with the tablet, which I used to carry my Asus 1000he Netbook around in. It would even have some extra space for cables and charger putting everything in one tight package. However. Nope didn't get mines yet sometime this week. I ordered it Wednesday of last week
on amazon there are multiple sellers who all sell just about the same keyboard/case I bought the minisuit one and love it. the only problem is if you have big fingers it may be difficult to type on since it is much smaller than a normal keyboard. It holds a charge for about a month using it for about 1-3 hour a day.

So I got mines in today and it does have a tab key. The back does kind of feel like the Nexus 7's back and I do believe that it is aluminum(it feels like it to me). If you have big hands like me than you're gonna have a hard time using the keyboard.

(searched and saw no thread on best stylus)
I'd prefer a full-sized stylus to use with my Note 2. I ordered the S-Pen with Eraser (ET-S200EBE) from Samsung thinking it would be full size. While bigger than the built-in stylus, it is far from full sized.
I see Wacom is coming out with the Wacom Bamboo Stylus Feel in January. It looks good.
Any other thoughts on a full size stylus including eraser?
You might be hard pressed to find something with all the requirements you are looking for.
If i find anything I'll let you know. For now I'm going to subscribe to this thread.

I spoke with Wacom directly. They say that the implementation of the pen technology is slightly different, and that the Note II will not be compatible.
I'd love to hear from someone who's trying it anyway.

I do not believe one exists that uses the more precise technology used in devices like the Note series. Plenty exist for typical capacitive touch screens. Don't get one of those -- it will work, but will not be accurate enough for handwriting and drawing.
I went through two Spens w/eraser. Both did not work like the phones pen. I returned both to try the Spen with holder and it works GREAT! The pen with eraser would not draw a consistent line on the screen. After examining it against the phones pen you can see the tip is designed differently. I did try adjusting the potentiometer in the pen w/eraser with no success. The pen with holder is designed more like the phones pen and the holder actually feels better to hold and I like not having to flip the pen over to erase.
Get the S pen with holder.

It feels excellent in the hand. Nice weight. It writes exceptionally smooth. Feels like a real pen. The tip is much softer than the Spen's tip but it's still firm enough to be precise. Basically I used to fear my pen would scratch my screen but not with this one....its hard to explain.
I'm not sure how it would be with drawings since I don't use it for that.

Cool, any chance we could get a video of you scribbling on the Note 2 with it? Want to be sure this one works good, I've already been burned twice...
So - any recommendations or comparisons - Bamboo or Spen w/ Holder?
To the dude looking for the stylus with real ink as well - if you don't need spen for all tasks, the YESPEN -S1 plus on ebay is sick!!! I acknowledge 100% that it is nowhere near as good as the spen... 1 degree of pressure vs. 1024; bulbous head vs precise head; mushy vs. hard...
That said - it's good enough to write with on screen... simple figs are good enough... and it doesn't draw any power like the spen does... may want to consider the yespen-s1 plus as it has a shxit ton of extra features over the above.
Samsung has what looks like a full handed spen stylus with bluetooth headset hfp hsp built in. BUT $98 is the cheapest I can find it.
YesPen-S1 plus has the capacitive stylus; an ink pen; an sdhc usb memory stick built in; AND bluetooth hfp, hsp, a2dp, ?aptx? - it has an earpiece and a microphone built in, a speakerphone loudspeaker, and a 3.5mm headphone jack... it's basically - the sickest pen ever made (WISH IT HAD SPEN too and that it fit in our slot and charged via the EM wave induction).
Check it out - yespen s1-plus on ebay $59.
Had mine about a month and I'm soooo digging it though it is relative crap compared to the artistic precision of the spen.
Sometimes it has it's uses though.
If anyone else sees cool stylus tech - please post here, subscribing now, so I can get it.

Just picked up my Second gen Nexus 7 and I'm sure quite a few more of you will be picking one up soon as well. So, I wanted to start this thread so anyone with info on cases available for the me models can share it, and we can keep track of them in one place. So far I've only seen the official sleeve in the Google Play store, but I'm assuming it won't be available until the 30th or later.
Created this thread on mobile, I'll make it nicer later when on my computer.
If anyone has any info on upcoming cases for the new Nexus 7, or even any cases meant for other devices that still fit this tablet well, please share! Thanks!
There are a few on Amazon that show 8/15 availability.
Got my 2nd gen today too and really need a case so thanks for starting this thread!

I require a case that works in both landscape and portrait mode. I have tried a few cases. The only one available that I like is the Solo case. They make a 360 degree 7" case and a landscape only universal case. The case comes in two colors; gray and black. I prefer the gray case. It is a little large and thick but it holds the device without blocking any buttons. It is the best rotating case I have found. It is much better than the smaller M-Edge case which I returned.

I've recently bought this cover, which is pretty nice. The headphone input and side buttons of the device are covered up by the elastic straps holding it in, but it's a minor inconvenience to me. There is also this version that I'd considered, but felt the Seal would catch on everything.
It came in the mail quite quick too. Just in time for the 50th special.

Really love the old-style bike with the disproportionate back wheel and the Joel Peter Witkin baby skeleton with two heads!
I use my GNex10 for business a lot. I'm in Inusrance and it's such a convenient form factor to carry around. Even compared to my Lenovo x220. The instant "powerup" of android and the long battery life are so nice. I use it to carry reference material (pdfs), do quick google searches, and even do online applications/sales. Saving me from tons of paperwork every night.
I have a "M edge" bluetooth keyboard case that's not bad, but it's flimsy and difficult to use if not on a flat surface. I was dreaming, like many, of google releasing the official keyboard dock, but as we know that never happened. Are there any good keyboard covers/cases out there? I want something sturdy that will turn my Nexus into a transformer minus the IO problems...

That case looks nice but is it reliable? The screen on the nexus 10 is all wrong unless it was an unlocked one with a custom ROM. It had the touchwiz theme and the tablet Ui, but that's what I was looking for so if I find one on amazon like it I'll buy it and tell u how it is depending on the price

Well I just checked amazon and saw the same one for 26 dollars so I guess it is reliable. Now I'm wondering if there's one like that with a mouse pad

OK, so it turned up annd I'm typing this reply on it now! Contruction seems pretty good, it is made from a mixture of aluminium and plastic and feels robust.
Typing on it isn't ideal... the keys are somewhat smaller than a full size keyboard. It's not too bad though. I reckon once i've got a little more used to it I should be able to type pretty quickly on it. It's already MUCH quicker than using the onscreen keyboard!
There doesn't seem to be any lag when typing. The gap the tablet slots into is well made. The tablet feels securely docked, I think the may be a magnet holding it in place as I can actually pick the tablet up when docked and it brings the keyboard with it!
I like the way it clips on to the front of the N10, doubling as a protective cover when travelling. It also makes a great stand for your tablet.
Overall, colour me impressed! Like some of you guys I was considering the latest Transformer but I think this keyboard is enough to put me off. For 20 pounds I'd definitely reccomend it.
Downsides: It's a US keyboard, so no pound key. It's not super light: It probably weighs a couple of hundred grams alone. I doesn't have a touchpad mouse, though to be fair given its size I don't think it would be possible to fit one it.

Thanks for the review. It sounds good. I'll check it out. Just one question does it fold over the screen to protect it.

It doesn't fold over, as there's no folding mechanism! It clips onto the front of the tablet, and will protect the screen well I should think. :good:

OK thanks again. It sounds pretty good. I'll check out a video review on YouTube and if I like what I see I'll get it but after I save enough to pay for the nexus 5

Does this keyboard have android keys? I see what looks like a back button but does it have home, menu etc? Thx.
Does it really hold the device steady enough? The reviews for this keyboard on Amazon are terrible. Apparently it is prone to screwing up the bezel and dropping the N10.

Old dock for HTC one work with this years?
I'd love to know if there's a dock option too. My HTC Evo 4G LTE has gotten me spoiled with a simple drop in dock. Would love to have a similar dock for this phone.
The place for the mirco USB has moved slightly to the middle. So probably will not work

Also the seize is different so this won't even fit the old dock...
Yeah, I have a dock for the M7 and it obviously won't fit. I really hope some M8 docks start surfacing soon.

Where are you seeing it? Can you provide a link? I typed "HTC One M8" and saw several cases and screen protectors, but no docks.

God damn that's expensive, hope it drops in price.
Anyone know if this dock is case friendly? Was the M7 car dock case friendly? It looks like the phone has to be naked.
Slick dock though, love that slide in. Can't wait!!!

Actually, that's not entirely true.
For my m7 I used an EZO cradle/dock that came with a plate which fit inside the dock. When the plate is removed it allows for a case to be used on the phone.
It actually worked quite well for a variety of my cases.

I hope they updated it to fix some issues. with the same style HTC dock on the M7, phone would slide out of the dock easily. slid out many times on the first day, gave it away day 2.

I found a cheap desktop dock on amazon. for $9, its worth a try! http://www.amazon.com/Micro-Stand-C...8&qid=1396062327&sr=8-11&keywords=htc+m8+dock It looks like it might work with some slimmer cases but not sure.

Is this the one you have?

It says up to 4.8" screens, but yours fits even though the HTC One M8 is 5"? Just want to make sure before I get this as it looks perfect for use on the road and with rental cars.
Thanks!
Yes it does, works on my m8 and nexus 5 without issue
