Hi guys,
I could not find a demo device from my local telco stores and based on what you have discovered, is HTC one silver or black version very slippery when holding it with one hand?
I used to have HTC one s grey version which had full aluminum unibody but that beauty was very slippery to a degree that I would drop it when pulling it from my jeans. So how is HTC one doing compared to one s grey version?
Thanks!!

Haven't looked at it yet but they say it's matte finished right? So I don't think it's slippery. Had 3 phones that's matte finished and all of them aren't.

I have seen the dummy black one in 3 store, it was not very slippery but the back was very smooth indeed. I am more concerning the silver one which I would probably get, just really want to know if that is the same as black one or more slippery cos I it seems like they are different finish.
Really want to preorder but cannot decide yet before I know how slippery one would be. Thanks for any help!!

Ohh sorry but I couldn't help you there. I didn't even get the chance to see the device other than on the internet. But thanks! I am buying the black one and glad it's great.
I've only held one briefly, but I did find it very difficult to keep hold of. It's the shape that's the problem - it's too thin at the sides, and because it's all curves and no edges there's nothing to get a grip on.

Thanks! Did you try the silver one or the black one? And do you know if they feel the same in hand?

Hmm, held the silver one today, not too dissimilar to the desire HD. To be honest I dont recall it being slippy but I would have held it tighter than my own phone!

The answer at least for silver is no. I held one and it felt fine. But everyone says the N4 is slippery but I don't think it is.

Silver. I've not encountered a black one, but as I said it was the shape that was the problem, not the texture of the surface, and the black one is the same shape.
Something I should have said earlier is that I don't hold phones the way normal people do. I hold the phone in my left hand and operate it with my right index finger, rather than holding it in my right hand and using my right thumb. That may make a difference.

Hey! That's cool & unique! BTW you mentioned it's all curves and no sharp edges. Is it really "all" edges? Even on the sides there's no edges?

That was perhaps a bit of an exaggeration, but yeah, it does feel rather like that in the hand.

I tried the dummy black the other day, given the fact that I have galaxy s3 at the moment, I have to say I felt harder/sharper edge than holding a s3.
Of course it could be all because the quality of dummy is no comparison to the real thing, that's why I am planning to go to Stratford westfield to try my luck if I could have my hands on a demo device today. will report back later.

Went to Stratford Westfield today, haha super happy got my hand on a silver demo device from 3 store. It felt much better than dummy phone I have to say, the edges are much smoother and surprisingly not as slippery as one s grey version!! I think this is because One is thicker than One s so it gives you better grip.
Overall very very very happy about the silver colour, may just preorder one tomorrow!!

I have held three different devices now, I have not felt any slipperiness
It's similar to the Desire HD .. a bit slippery but not too bad!
I would recommend getting a nice case for it
It literally appeared today. At first I thought it was a dead pixel but it's not completely black it's gray and also I looked at it with a magnifier and it's not square it's like a blob.
Is there any way to get it out or something without taking the phone apart? Since it got there randomly today and wasn't there out-of-box.

Dust shouldnt get under the screen so bring it back.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
It's miniscule and they will probably think I'm crazy what if they don't give me a new one, no solutions?
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
They way the screen is manufactured should prevent any dust form ever getting inside the screen. There is a special "goo" that is filled in between the gap of the lcd and digitizer. Any dust in the screen was left there in the manufacturing process. I had the same issue, I just went to the place I bought the phone and exchanged it. Now I am happy.
I actually have a speck under my screen too. I've only had my One a little over a week and I noticed it a few days ago when I decided to check for dead pixels since a few people have had them. Thought it was at first, like you did, but I see it with my screen off. I'm on AT&T so are they known to try to brush off a little spot like that? I know they really shouldn't be able to professionally but I just don't want anybody to try to give me any lip for complaining.
If there is a potential opening for dust I sure as hell don't want any more and muddy up a beautiful device. Sounds like I should exchange mine too, huh?
I really hope this isn't going to be a problem, the sensation was plagued by this issue, but it had no where near the level of build quality of the One. I sent my sensation back to htc and they replaced the screen. If it gets worse then send it back.
I havent tried bringing my phone back yet for the dust but this is the second One I've had because the first kept shutting off by itself so if anything you could fib and say it keeps restarting itself randomly on you cause then they'd had to excange it HAHAHA I have AT&T too and they can be **** heads when you try to get replacements
Good luck!

Hey there,
I just noticed that on my 2 day old HTC One (FA35FW9#####, HTC_E11) has strange horizontal line on the screen. Even when it's turned off. It's visible on dark colours (black) when the screen is on. It's annoying. I tried to take a picture of it, but i don't have a lens that will focus on it. It looks like a solar panel of sorts.
Am I the only one that has this weird hardware issue, or is it well known?
regards,
X

Mine definitely has this, I didn't notice it until today outside in the sun. I don't see it at all when the screen is on though.
Hi,
I also see this on my HTC One grid when the display is lit on a black background and there is sun. Is it normal, everyone does it ? Or is it a fault and should it change ?
It's on mine as well...can see it under a very bright light...but not normal conditions...... Think it's the digitizer !???

I think its just the screen. I get it under sunlight when the screen is black. Little annoying but i'll live Anyone else with this?
I find they look more like blocks though...
Do a quick search of the forums. There's MANY of this exact topic, and all have been resolved.
It is the digitizer by BTW...

Hi,
Thank you for your answers. So what is normal ?
Because I saw two other HTC One grid and it was much less visible than on mine, we only see screen off when the mine can be seen when the screen is turned on if the sun on the screen.
Do you think he should return it under warranty ?

Apparently the screens made by sharp have more visible lines than the ones made by JDI, but there's no way to know which is which without running an app to retrieve the information (or maybe viewing the screen under sunlight ). I can see the lines on mine but since I don't look at the screen when it's off I don't really care about them. You'll never find one where the digitizer is invisible, and buying a One is gambling on getting a good one vs build quality issues, so if that's all that's wrong I'd just hold on to it if I were you.

Horizontal lines approx 2mm apart are visible on mine too when screen is off...Noticed after 3 days i got it and was not sure if m i the only one who got it, untill i found this thread. I dont mind those lines if they are there, but it doesn't call for alarm right??
Same
I've had this on two HTC Ones, so I think its normal. I also found that its only really visible when the screen is off.

Same here. Maybe because the pixel technology... Someone better in techs can say maybe.
Also if am right there is same question and discussion about that.

Just the digitiser in the screen. It is visible on all HTC Ones but, as said previously, a little easier to see on the Sharp panels.
Nothing to worry about.

Yeah i just noticed mine today when i was outside in the sun... :/
I just noticed this on my way to work this morning, now I can see it almost all the time whenever the screen is off or has a dark backround, for example I see it with the phone laying flat on my desk directly in front of me, what I would consider a normal viewing angle with the screen off or on with a dark background.
my phone is only 11 days old should I contact my carrier regarding this??, its kind of annoying.

No, it's normal and not annoying. You shouldn't be able to see it if you're looking directly at the phone.

Thanks for the reply, it does bug me a bit like but I guess I could live with it.
It is quite easily noticible from slight angles but not if I am looking at phone straight on. I have a couple of friends with the same phone, I will check theirs to see how visible it is on their handsets.
Want to get even more irritated with it? Pull up a white background, like in the text message app, stare really intensely at it, and you can see the lines very faintly and what appears to be a texture similar to cloth, not a smooth-like-paint texture that would be ideal.
Once you notice it, you'll always see it. Lol. Have a nice day!

I just noticed that my ps vita also has these lines, but it's a grid instead of just horizontal lines. Different screen tech but similar digitizer I suppose. I chuckled a bit when I saw it for the first time

My lower microphone stopped working and I contacted Tmo about it and they sent me a replacement phone. The power button on the replacement didn't have a click to it, it was soft and did not work most of the time and the screen had a yellowish or orangish tint to it compared to my original One. I contacted them and I sent back the replacement and they sent me another. This one seems functional button wise, but has the same yellowish/orange tint to the screen.
Are they replacing them with crappy screens or are they like that new? I really hate to give up my pristine phone (minus the broken mic) with a sharp bright screen (compared to the replacements) for some refurb with a sub par screen. I also have the extra warranty on it so that I can get a brand new one for $135 or something, but I am concerned no matter what I am going to get the crappy screen and have to pay for it. Whereas I can swap mine for a new/like new one from warranty? Is it possible to swap the screens? Can I send it to HTC to have them fix the mic? I can live without the phone for a week or two (have my old Sensation 4G). Having my original phone rooted, S-off, Super CID, running ARHD 20.x wouldn't have an affect on the screen color would it? It currently has 4.12 on it and my orig phone is running 4.3.
Thanks in advance!
Just send it in to htc

I am on the phone with HTC now and he says that if the bootloader is unlocked, the warranty is voided. He put me on hold to see if I will be wasting my time sending it to them.
Well that plan is out the window! He said he could not be sure if it would be covered, but he felt like they would not fix it and return it as soon as they saw it was unlocked on HTCDev.
Ok, so back to swapping screens...
TBH I had the exact same thing happen. My camera started having black spots and I got it replaced. I'm on the third one now and its a little yellower than mine but there isn't a single seam. So I said screw it, once the N5 comes out I am selling and upgrading to it. Thought about the G2 as well, but I'm not sure.

Sometimes the yellow tint is from the glue and it gets better after about a week of use. Some are just yellow though. How I know this is I had two ones. My black one was a lot more yellowish when I first got it to my silver one. I had read that sometimes it's the glue that causes it and after use it will become whiter. I was skeptical but I wanted to see of I could see any difference. To speed up the process I got one of those dead pixel apps that cycles though different colors really fast. I plugged the phone in and ran it for about 4 hours.
My results shocked me. My black one after that had a much whiter look to it and now my silver appeared to be more yellow compared. So in the end my black one ended up being brighter and having whiter whites.

They dont even look at that if the problem you are having has NOTHING to do with anything that unlocking the bootloader could possibly break. If you bricked your phone, then they check. I'm not guaranteeing that they do, but they say that it "MAY" void your warranty. For example, if your power button stops working, then they dont care. Same with your case. Unlocking the bootloader has nothing at all to do with the screen being yellow.

This happened on the iphone 5 as well. I think they're just newer units.
I am giving the stuck pixel app a shot now. Hopefully it will whiten it up the screen! I will report back later about whether it helped or not.

if you are insured, u could always smash the sh#t out of it and claim for a new one lol!!!!
But if I opt for the insurance, I may still get a phone with a yellowish screen. Then I just spent $150 to get a phone I could have gotten for free through warranty.

Hey guys, so I got my Pebble a few days ago and I noticed when driving in the car that there was purple "wrinkles" all over the screen. I turned off the pebble and sure enough they were still there. I took a picture http://imgur.com/OAp5D31
So, once I got inside the house I noticed it disappeared for the most part. I can still see it if I look at the screen from the side but not if I was looking at it head on. I figured it might have to do something with temperature because it was fairly cold in the car. Has this happened to anyone? I'm fine if this is normal, but if this is a defect I would definitely want to exchange it for another one.
I have definitely seen the "wrinkles" you're describing. I'll try to make sure I look at them next time I walk the dog and report back.

Thanks, I'm sitting in a warm room and they seem to be mostly gone. If I tilt the watch though and look at it horizontally I do see like a "wrinkled frame" around the screen. Would you be able to look at it from the same angle and tell me if you get the same thing?

This is the nature of the screen even though they don't say it's lcd, it seems like these type of screens ha very this effect.
Typically seen on lcd watches and calculator screen.
Normal finding.

I sure see that on my screen too, but not necessarily in cold weather only, here in India in my city, the coldest it gets is 15-16degree Celsius which is 60degree farenheit... Also, my screen is a little yellow-ish at the bottom. Anybody notice that?
I have actually had the same thing. I originally saw it when wearing my polarized Oakley's but I thought if was just the lenses. I actually can barely see my Nexus 5 screen with them on as well.
