Is there a list of stock HTC One apks that can be downloaded? I installed CyanogenMod and there are a couple apps i'd like to install back onto the device if possible. EG: Mail, TV, etc...
Thanks!
Bump. Still wondering if these stock applications are available.
Those apps won't work on CM

Any chance of someone getting them to work in the future or is it very unlikely?

Unfortunately, I don't think it's likely. The problem is a framework issue. You may be better off looking for customized Sense ROMs.

Are there any custom sense roms look senseless?

Go look in the development forums-- if you search sense, you'll get a list of topics back that might interest you. How "senseless" they are though will vary-- I'm also not sure what you're looking for. Do you want everything to look like AOSP but still be able to run apps? That seems a little on the far end to me (usually you'll get things like status bar tweaks and such).

I'm using Viper rom and Nova launcher... very pleased with the number of options. Viper gives you the pull-down settings toggles and more reboot options...ect Nova gives you everything else and a stock look. Just cant use blinkfeed/HTC widgets, but the image processing/camera/zoe stays stock which is my main concern with ASOP roms currently.
Its not perfect, but its close.
I still miss my pattern-lock music controls hopefully coming in 4.2 right?

So, I am trying to find a great android device... that can give me 3g on my network - Rogers.....
My question is, if you root the captive and put on custom roms and kernels... can you have the sense ui and eliminate samsungs software?
thx

Technically yes, right now no. There are no custom ROMs that have sense. Just go to Bell and get Desire Z or Telus for Desire.
There is no bell in Winnipeg..... and telus here is still cdma like mts....
well, even if it is not the sense ui... does it removes samsungs attempt at software?
thx

Oh tough luck mate.
There are custom ROMs that have gotten rid of touchwiz launcher/touchwiz widgets. However, the nifty features like the power controls in the notification bar or swipe to call/text still remain. Does that answer your question? You can easily get rid of touchwiz yourself by using root-friendly apps like Titanium backup and uninstall touchwiz.
nice, thanks for the info....
I love my desire hd, I just want something I can still play with (root, roms, kernels) but still have 3g... until dhd launches here... if ever.
thx again
I know that TeamHacksung is working on an ICS port and CM9 may unofficially be ported to the G-Note at some point, but that's all in the unforeseeable future.
And all the Gingerbread ROMs I see in the development section are ToucWizified.
Am I missing one, or did all the current custom rom "developers" keep their creations totally TouchWiz-bound?

my previous phone was a HTC hd2. yes window phone. rooted to run android 2.3 with sense and I can tell u, its even faster (scrolling, flip thru menus, contact scrolling) than my gnote. I can say, touchwiz is way way too bloated.
my old phone can use go widget launcher n is still smooth
gnote with 2x the hardware specs, lag!
I am also waiting for a pure rom, not a tweaked stock.
On sgs2 I used miui and it was really, really nice.

Sense is the one thing i miss from my Desire HD. Touchwiz is nothing in comparison with sense. This is just my opinion, i am sure others would disagree.

I miss sense.
when the nexus s was released i was a god send for galaxy s devs because they had all they stuff they need (source) to have a very good implementation of cm7
when the galaxy s2 was released it was hell for devs they ended up signing a petition with +10000 signatures just to get the kernel source and that took them over 6 months or so (as far as i can remember )
now with the HTC one almost as the same as the nexus 4's hardware , no ?
are there big architectural changes?
could they use stuff from the nexus 4 to make cm10.1 work flawlessly ?
The hardware of the n4 and the one are very very very different , so it won't benefit from the n4.

Why did you think a HTC built phone would benefit from a LG built phone.
The soc isnt even in the same Series Never mind all the camera changes. There nothing alike

An open SoC from QC is a step in the right direction, however sense kernels are quite different from those needed for CM/AOSP roms, so it's unlikely it will be perfect. The HOX still has niggles with CM today because some of the blobs just don't play along with non-sense roms.
These days if you want decent CM, I think you just need to buy a Nexus. If only the N4 were better I'd buy one...
Currently tossing up between this phone and the Xperia Z, if I get this it'll be under the mindset that i'll probably be running sense on it forever (annoyingly).

what is the difference between sense based roms vs aosp based roms? i've seen some sense based ones that have the same UI as CM10 etc.

It's personal preference. CM10 roms are typically alot smaller and tend to use less ram so can aid device performance. Some people also just like running a rom like they would get on a nexus. Of course this all depends on CM10/10.1 being decent on the phone.. if it doesn't work well because of sense kernels, then it's not really worth it.
If you want to run excellent CM roms, I would suggest waiting until kernel sources are out and see what devs can do, or just buy a nexus (though there's no nexus as good as the One).
i'm currently running aokp on my One X. the only real reason i flash roms is so i can have the status bar, settings, dialer, phonebook etc look like stock android.
is it possible to have a sense based rom that will be skinned to look like stock android? with the status bar, settings, dialer and all that jazz?

Not completely skinned, no. Dialler is the hardest part IMO as there's no custom dialler that looks like the stock one does. It's actually the thing I miss most when running sense.

I would disagree with that to a point. I've used sense ROMs where, when you push AOSP contacts.apk to /system/app, you get get AOSP dialer and contacts. Same with mail is possible, if I remember correctly. I've even seen the AOSP settings used in sense (though, it may have been just themed that way) in jellybomb domination ROM. I forget exactly, it's been a while. I run just AOKP or PACman on my Evo lte. I buy HTC for the hardware, not the software. But, sense 5 is intriguing and seems to resemble AOSP more than in the past, but with the blink feed and Zoe (which is what I do find intriguing).
From my Evo LTE, yup.

in cm your're guaranteed to miss out on some key features. For instance, with the HTC EVO 4g LTE (and the one x and all its variants as far as i know), CM cannot incorporate the sense based cameras into the rom, so your're really getting something like 70% of the image quality because nobody's been able to figure out how to use the separate, Sense-designated optics hardware with an aosp rom. You're obviously missing out on hmdi/mhl out so forget about connecting to your tv. There are issues with using mass storage from sdcard (probably not going to be a problem here though), amongst others.
CM is on the other hand, generally more customizable and smoother to run than sense based roms, but there are some sense roms (like VIPER 4G 3.X) that are imo right on par with CMX when it comes to great custom experience yet do not omit important hardware features.
So I know that there is a Paranoid android ROM that has this feature, but will it ever become an app or something that any phone (specifically the HTC one) can use? Because I'd really like to keep the default ROM and have the HALO feature, because it is one of the most amazing things I've seen!
I know it's open source and would try myself, but I don't know how
Thanks for any help
Would be really hard to implement afaik, so I wouldn't expect anything to happen unfortunately

It will need some serious hacking to work on Sense based roms
AOSP ROMs though it can be compiled into the rom
btw there is already a PA ROM for this device in the original development section, and that has the latest HALO built in
Short answer: No, it's impossible.
But using some app like Floating Notification?
Yeah I've seen floating notification, but that doesn't have the "pop-up application" feature. So even though it is near impossible for a sense ROM, what about as a standalone app?

seems to be working on the One X with Sense ROMs? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I dont know if its just me here, but I would really like a stock Google Edition rom with no visual tweaks whatsoever, maybe performance tweaks but thats it. We only have one (and no disrespect to the dev) but its kinda going in a different direction with all the cyanogen stuff in it now. I just want stock vanilla android at its finest, who's with me??????????
I would definitely be game for something like this. I think its cool how with the other carrier's One's you can flash them and make them a GE device. I realize we won't ever quite have that, but as close of an experience to that as we can get sounds pretty great to me.
but we do have one...... and one is all you really need since it is stock android..... and must say it is virtually flawless.
There isn't THAT much of cyanogen mod in there

Yea, sprint isnt too bad because I have LTE now but we will never have the support like our gsm variants
I thought I wanted pure stock android until I played with a nexus 7 after using CyanogenMod on my phone for a while and I have to say I like CyanogenMod more, but to each his own.

Pls don't post stuff that aren't meant for our Sprint variants. That rom is only for GSM HTC ONEs...Sprint's variant is WL.
If anyone flashes that ROM from the link, you will brick your phone!!! You have been warned.
