Alot of HTC phones getting it Q4 of 2013. Doesn't help us, but that is all I know.
Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie was anticipated for the Google I/O conference, but we learned that Android 4.3 Jelly Bean would be coming out instead. Google has not acknowledged that either 4.3 Jelly Bean or 5.0 Key Lime Pie are in development. With 4.3 Jelly Bean likely to only be released in June or July 2013, the earliest that 5.0 Key Lime Pie could come is October 2013 or as late as 2014.

I am curious where Atrix HD users would be on getting even 4.2... Moto did a fine job of getting updates out to most of their current phones, but has slacked off after pushing 4.1. It was almost like, "Let's get 4.1 out so everybody will quit complaining" and now not continuing.

Will units shipped with 4.2 be downgradable to 4.1.2?

EDIT: I noticed that this is the wrong section. Please move, thanks.
I heard that the batch sold this Christmas will be arriving with 4.2, after the issues I've heard about I think I'd rather stick with a stable release. (16 GB Wi-Fi)

I would assume they would be. Unless there was a hardware change, I would think you could fastboot flash a 4.1.2 os to it, of course providing you fastboot flash the earlier boot as well. This is speaking in regards to grouper, because I have no idea what the os progression of tilapia was.

4.2 is totally stable. Stop reading and try it for your self.
Downgrade...haha.
Whats unstable about 4.2?
Sent from my KillRom Nexus 7
The 4.2 issues have mostly been from upgrading, and have been cured by a data wipe. Yeah, it sucked for people who don't like reinstalling apps, but that's what Titanium Backup is for. Getting a fresh 4.2 tablet shouldn't cause you any worries, so feel free to enjoy it. A little patience will pay off as those few apps work out their compatibility issues. And, hey, isn't the bleeding edge the point of a Nexus anyway?!?
If you do have problems, flashing a 4.1.2 image shouldn't be a problem.

Yes you can! Just download the original firmware for 4.1 and use one of the tools available, dont remember the names. Not sure if you can get 4.1.2 though, but 4.1 no problem! 4.2 is the first android release that I dont think is an improvement from previous versions.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Upgrade the tablet once you get it, before installing apps. Or do a factory reset after upgrading. That cures 99% of the problems out there. No reason to stay with a lower firmware..

Although Google has told you not to downgrade units shipped with 4.1.2 or later to 4.1.1, due to hardware issues. 4.2 may/may not work.

Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie NOT Appearing on Google I/O

Just recently, all the tech sites are saying, Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie will not be released at Google I/O in May, but instead just Android 4.3;
http://www.aegindia.org/2013/04/android-key-lime-pie-not-appearing-on-google-io/2122449.html
According reliable information, the release of Android Key Lime Pie is postponed by another two to four months. The delay will give sometime for the manufacturers to provide Android 4.2.2 update for their devices.
A lot of sites, saying behind the scenes that Samsung will be very upset with Google to see Android 5.0 released, just a month after they just brought out their flagship new phone the Galaxy S4, running Android 4.2. Samsung does not want to be trumped just a few weeks later, making their brand new S4 outdated with 4.2, if 5.0 comes out shortly afterwards.
And rumors saying Google would rather release Android 5.0 on a brand new Nexus phone at the same time. So going to the typical Fall release, we will see a Nexus-Five phone running Android 5.0, competing at the same time, directly against the iPhone 5S.
Now who will be the manufacture of the Nexus-Five ? Most point to LG again, or possibly Sony this time. But "5" will be the magic number; Android 5.0, Nexus 5, and 5" screen.

Curious what 4.3 will add to Jellybean ? Just minor tweaks and bug fixes ?
Will "Babel" be the main new feature ? Which I think is combining all Google Messaging to one main app ? Maybe Project Battery, giving even better battery life on stock Android ?
This is upsetting lol .. Also I will be pissed if a new nexus comes out already

Totally agree. I could not see an all new version Android 5.0 still being released on the current Nexus 4. I would think Google would want to release a brand new fully new version, on a brand new phone at the same time.
I expect Android 4.3 next month, released on the Nexus 4, and the only new "Nexus" device coming out at Google I/O will be the new revised Nexus 7 tablet.
And then in the Fall we will get the Nexus-Five phone, running Android 5.0.
I've only had my nexus 4 for 2 months!! Rawr

The Galaxy Nexus came with ICS(first device to have it). It also got updated to JB 4.1 as soon as it was released (June 2012 ?). So why is everyone making a fuss about the N4 getting 2 major Android releases (4.2 and possibly 5.0). In fact 4.2 was not even a Major update over 4.1.
I really hope Google brings out KLP in I/O!

Agreed. I highly doubt they would postpone their software because Samsung is having a fit .However I would see it would make since to do Nexus 5 with key lime pie. I think key lime pie is going to be a almost entirely different os most likely mirroring their new google play/search style. Just my opinion though.
So the rumor that Google would reveal Key Lime Pie at their developer conference has been dispelled by... more rumors. This is a fun game.

4.3 leaked/in testing Galaxy S4

Seems as Nexus owners we're not the first to get the update this time. It could turn out to be an elaborate fake but probably genuine as Google are an experimenting company and have released two flagship devices with a vanilla Android option (although they're not "nexus"). From what I've read there doesn't appear to be any big changes (if any actually visible) and more fixes/optimisations.

Cool, I'm another few months away from a handset upgrade and so it definitely makes these phones an even better proposition, having access to stock android goodness. Was impressed seeing how quickly someone had put a vanilla 4.2.2 ROM together for the HTC One, then seen this and was very surprised.
Its good to see really as it shows that Google and the handset makers are finally getting why people like android so much and that is the option of choice and customisation. It may not be the exact reason for doing so but they must be conscious of it. As the last I/O conference showed, it was very developer orientated

Exactly! I personally am not down with the moto x. Its just a (very) slightly updated version of the matrix HD. And the real deal killer (from what I've heard) is that there's no f*#$%¡£ SD card slot.
Slightly of topic: since we where talking about kitkat running on older phones, does anyone else find it awesomely funny that the HTC dream/ T-Mobile G1 (the first official android phone) can run jellybean? Sure it's crap compared to ours now but the fact that it can even boot is cool.

Well I don't really think that 4.4 KitKat will be the next version of android. I don't know why but it just doesn't sound right. I mean all these hints from Google about klp for nothing? If you remember a Google employee had posted a picture of android eating klp which actually "confirmed" klp as the next version of android for me. It could be a marketing trick, like they show kitkat and then release 5.0 KLP . It could be a small "lie" from Google so that it keeps us thinking that they release 4.4 and then, boum they release 5.0. I could be wrong but I don't think 4.4 will be next version of android if you think how many android versions 4+ has supported (4.0, 4.1, 4.1.2, 4.2.1, 4.2.2, 4.3, and now 4.4???) All other android version numbers were supporting no more than two versions of android (1.5, 2.0, 2.2, 3.0,) Also I don't think Google would use a copyrighted name as their next version of android. Like I said, this could be a "trick" from Google or I could be totally wrong

OTA Updates won't do you no good, even if you receive a notification with rooted stock, it'll most likely fail.
Either flash back to bone stock (no root, no custom recovery) and hope you get it soon, or wait until someone gets the N4 OTA, rips out the new binaries and compiles a new ROM with them from scratch, which you then can flash via CWM/TWRP.
Personally, I choose the latter. Also, do read the article in the link, it explicitly states that only the N7 and N10 have their OTA's rolling out so far, the time specified for our device is still "soon".

for me 4.4 will be the 1st stock that will not use, GEL is one of the best features from 4.4(looks like from N5) so the 4.4 update will be just to get custom 4.4 roms less glitched / more optimized
