tried to use xrevcovery to install froyopro today but i cant enter xrecovery , when i see the SE i spammed back but it just hangs the phone so i remove the battery and tried again for like 5 times but nothing happened , then i try to enter my gingerdxx fearing it might got corrupted but it's still fine ...but why cant i enter xrecovery?
Really? I couldn't enter xRecovery too when I was on GDX v018, v019 and v020.
Just install another CWM ROM if you can enter CWM.
but iwas able to use xrecovery just a few days / hours ago ..and now i cant ..is there a prolbem with my xrecovery? i cant enter CWM also and ccwm (installed version ) don't have x8 option in it's list T.T ...without xrecovery i cant backup my phone anymore!! is there any alternative or solution? just wondering ...is there a diff between xrecovery and cwm?
tohno ... since you wrote in another thread that you installed ROM Manager ...
ROM MANAGER IS NOT MEANT FOR THE XPERIA X8!
This program is ONLY for genuine CyanogenMod ROMs on a selected range of devices... so... that should actually answer your question why you can't select the X8 in the list of devices.
As for being unable to enter xRecovery ...
a) GingerDX comes with Dual-Recovery by default. This means that BOTH, xRecovery and ClockworkMod recovery, are already installed. You DO NOT need to manually install any of them ... if you do, or did, you will only wreck the installed ones.
b) xRecovery does NOT work on the LinuxDX kernel, and will most likely also not work on all the other custom kernels as well as they don't have xRecovery built into the kernel but only CWM.
Conclusion: If you're on GingerDX and already messed around with the recoveries ... re-flash GingerDX and full-wipe.
If you're on Stock 2.1.1.A.0.0 or 2.1.1.C.0.0 use Flashtool to inject xRecovery into the ROM.
EDIT: Another reason why xRecovery may not work... any chance you messed with busybox?
If you updated the default busybox version that ships with GingerDX - or the original xRecovery installation - you may face problems!
confused a little...but i was able to enter recovery many times before when i was still using GDX
abou a) well i need xrecovery to install GDX in the 1st place...so it's a must for me to install xrecovery
b) i never messed with the kernel!
so i guess i have to reflash then...but how to or what is reflash?? is it means i have to do the xrecovery process all over again?
Depends on what you did ...
If you somehow messed around with the files of the recoveries in your current GingerDX (or whatever else) ROM installation you better re-flash GingerDX (or whatever ROM you're currently using) to undo the changes you may have done to the OS. This means: reboot into CWM and simply re-flash update-GingerDX-v020.zip
i cant even enter CMM!! i click reboot to CWM but then it just reboots like normal ...
help plz i really need to enter CMW and xrecovery ...

hey guys, I got a small problem. I want to restore my data onto a new ROM without restoring system settings. Is this possible using xrecovery? Because when I restore data, even the system settings I had on my previous ROM gets restored, and I can't change the setting manually on the new ROM because it doesn't have that particular function in the new ROM.....thanx in advance
hey guys,, i seem to have stuffed the recovery of my phone,, i stupidly installed cwm on my phone without root, but when i reflashed with odin the stock recovery works but when i install cwm, it doesnt go into recovery
CWM doesn't require root!
Try to reflash a stock rom. Not the one package file but the whole rom.

Hello. I'm going to install the new android into I9000. In the previous thread you recommend me the Semaphore kernel and Jelly Bean ROMs.
I installed the Semaphore from this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786220 by odin and I need to install zip file with my new ROM by clockworkmod recovery. I tried to install three types of ROMs: cyanogenmod10, c-rom, tsunami, however everyone shows 'error [path to file] (status 0) - installation aborted' when the installation starts.
What am I doing wrong?

Status 0 is due to having wrong CWM on you phone, likely you are on ICS ROM and using JB kernel and trying to Flash JB ROM
thanks for your answer,
i'm using semaphore JB 2.3.0 Kernel (URL in first post) - the author writes:
This is a kernel based on the pawitp's one and it works for Android 4.1.1 JB ROMs.
This version works for Jelly Bean ROMs

Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
thanks for so fast answer
I tried the newest version 'experimental' (10/8) and next one "nightly" (10/3), but it looks that the problem are not in ROMs. I tried c-rom, tsunami and there is the same problem.

yes kernel will work but CWM does not, so flash the ICS kernel to solve your problem , you are currently on ICS, so use ICS kernel and upgrade to JB, once in JB , use JB kernel
sorry, but i don't understand. i should install the ics kernel, e.g. from here: http://www.semaphore.gr/downloads/gt-i9000-ics and next i need to install JB kernel from sdcard in cwm of ics?

One you have an ICS kernel, your CWM will be able to Flash a JB ROM in recovery, once you have a working JB ROM, its up to you , IF you would like to have JB Kernel , just Flash that

just check if you still have your IMEI, if not use a solution from My Android Solutions to fix it
BUT make sure you inserted your sim card in the correct direction
No i don't have an IMEI (checked by *#06# code, shows only "IMEI" without the number). So, if i didn't make a backup i need to flash an old ROM, go to CWM and make a wipe, delete EFS folder with root explorer and install the ICS kernel with Phone EFS Clear ticked?
I have next problem. My i9000 resets byself and goes to CWM. He made it for three times when i didn't use him.

NO, all you need to do is , was written in above link
1) Download Root Explorer from Play Store and use it to
2) Search you internal SD card for sdcard/backup/efs
3) Copy nv_data.bin, nv_data.bin.md5 and nv.log paste them into /efs in your Phone memory
4) Reboot to get back your original IMEI
or
you can start from the beginning.. go back to GB 2.36 (use a JVU ROM + Root, upgrade to ICS CM 9 and than to CM10

if you have cwm(any version)
you can install whatever rom you have
if you are on other bases like GB or ICS and trying to install JB or new versions of cm10
you should do the installing process three times
there will be an error after first try and on the second it will install but you will get bootloop and you have to take out battery put it back and boot to recovery with three button combo and start the third time of install process after that do a restart and you are done
good luck :good:

Hello All,
I am on stock v4.1.2, flashed myself.
Now I want to move on to custom ROM.
My current stock ROM is rooted, and I have also unlocked my bootloader.
Now when I want to install custom ROM, I need to flash CWM, and when I do (tried v6.2.8 and v6.0.3.1), and install any ROM, my WiFi becomes unresponsive (failed to turn on). When I flash V20A back, everything turns normal.
I also gone through http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2180138&page=43, and install the unsecure boot image after installing CWM 6028, but this make my custom rom hang on startup (on bootload screen).
Kindly help me out.
I have search a lot in the P880 forum, and didn't find any help regarding to this problem.

i dont understand what the recovery has to do with the wifi. recovery is just an interface to easy install something, copy paste , edit , change permissions , etc , things we do using adb commands. it is just an environment. its something else u are doing wrong there.
<EDIT> yea i saw the thread on your link. others seem to have same problem but with the unsecure boot. why do u need unsecure boot if the bootloader is unlocked ? just install teamwin recovery or cwm recovery and the rom u want.

Well, I did. And it all went fine, and I am able to install various custom ROMs, and after I install custom ROM, my WiFi becomes unresponsive. I am completely at lost. I also tried MIUI v5 which is non-CM10.2 based, and it also showed the same issue.
Here are my steps to install a custom ROM.
- Currently I am on my V20A stock ROM.
- Root the stock ROM using the All-In-One-Toolkit v1.4.1
- Flush the CWM 6031 using ADB as
Code:
su
cat /mnt/sdcard/recovery.img > /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
sync
- After reboot, my device has the CWM.
- Copy custom ROM zip files to my device, and reboot to recovery
- Wipe out by data and cache
- Install ROM
thats it
And when I boot into the new custom ROM, my WiFi do not work.
Please help.

And here are my steps to install a custom ROM (if currently I am on my V20A stock ROM)
1. Root the stock ROM using the All-In-One-Toolkit v1.4.1
2. Unlock bootloader using All-In-One-Toolkit v1.4.1 or manually like this.
3. Flash the CWM 6.0.4.5 or 6.0.4.4 or TeamWin Recovery
4. Reboot the device in recovery.
5. Enter ADB sideload and install custom rom or using ADB bootloader or using ADB copy the rom in sd card and use install in recovery.
6. Wipe data and cache and reboot system.

I did wipe the data and cache after installing the custom ROM. But the result is the same; No WiFi response.
However, I always copy my custom ROMs by mounting my phone through USB to my Win8 laptop, and then copy the ROM file through windows explorer. And then install the ROM from the CWN recovery. Thus do not use ADB for copying files, or installing custom ROM as mentioned above. If this is the main issue reason, then advice.
Also I haven't tried TWRP till yet. Will do now. Till then, what else I can do.
Thanks for the quick replies.
i dont know what else you may doing wrong then. one was the insecure boot which is useless since u have unlocked the bootloader and the other that u had flash older version of cwm recovery. maybe compatibility issue with that version of cwm rec ? test and see.
format system also, when installing a new rom, not just data, cache & dalvik

One piece of detail I missed to mentioned in my case previously was that, I unlocked my phone using the method mentioned in the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2263627 as I was unable to unlock using the official method.
After I unlock my bootloader, I have flashed V20A KDZ several times, and each time the SW Upd mode show me that my bootloader status is unlocked. Thus after first attempt of unlocking, I never came across need to unlocked my bootloader again as each time when I do the KDZ flash, I get the bootloader status as unlocked. And after each flash of KDZ, I was able to install CWM and custom ROMs, and boot into them successfully.
Is this something causing the issue?

sorry , personally i dont know what else u may doing wrong there . and no it doesnt matter which way u unlock the phone, but since u unlock it , it stays that way until u lock it.
at least stock rom is working fine ? if that works fine there, then just install only custom kernel, do your tweaks, install another launcher and then delete the default, etc. u can do any modification u like to the stock one to make it look and work the way u want it.

Does it help if I installed a custom kernel on my custom ROM (with WiFi issue). My understanding is that the WiFi driver is compiled inside the kernel. So changing the kernel might reduce the issue. What do you think? If yes, then kindly advice me on which kernel should I install on my till now custom ROM MIUI v5 http://en.miui.com/download-79.html.

a developer would never release a rom in public with wifi issues by default and since i have already tested all roms available before i end up to one, i can say that they all worked , but only had small bugs on homescreen. really i dont know what you are doing wrong and not even a teamviewer connection wouldnt help in this case. but on stock your phone works fine ? only in a custom rom u have this issue ?
<<EDIT>> did you also do a full format before going to another rom ? there is a choice in teamwin recovery ( dont know if its in cwm also ) to format data. careful i dont mean to wipe everything you see because you will remove the recovery too and u will have to flash it back. the format option deletes everything besides the recovery. if you dont format before you go to a totally different rom, then you maybe have issues. especially when going from stock to custom, differences are huge. you must format before flashing. and dont forget the gapps, if they are not inluded in rom. ( in your case miui there must have them inside, because i see its 256 mb+)

YES. When I flashed stock V20A, I never had issues with Wifi. Its when I install custom ROM, and any custom ROM.
So I suppose, either there is something wrong in my installing method, or in my stock ROM that won't allow WiFi to work on any custom ROM. But how much influential will be the stock ROM if it is being replaced by a custom ROM?
Well, I haven't formated before I install any custom ROM, as it was not instructed in the forums. But I will do that now, and let you know the results shortly.
Thanks again for the replies.

Why would wiping your /data folder on internal storage delete your custom ROMs? Surely you keep them on your external SD-Card?

What?????
Why would wiping your /data folder on internal storage delete your custom ROMs? Surely you keep them on your external SD-Card?

So you are saying that, I copy them to external_sd, and then do the data format. Ok ... Will do and let you know.
BTW, I also found V20B. I will start with this stock rom instead of V20A. This might improves some thing.

AT LAST .... FIXED ...
I did two things, V20B, and format /system, /data before installing new ROM. So my steps were:
1) Flush V20B instead of V20A
2) After rooting, and installed CWM 6044 touch, copy custom ROM MIUI to external SDCARD
3) Reboot into recovery, and format /system, /data, and /cache partitions
4) Install custom ROM from external SDCARD
5) Wipe data and cache
6) Reboot into the new world
:good: formatting did the work sorry i didnt think of it earlier.
Hello there.
I have a problem with my N7000. Today I've flashed stock firmware onto my phone, everything went ok, but I have a problem now. When I'm trying to install something from recovery, I can't. I select the ROM, everything is beeing checked, etc, and when it wants to install update, a message appears: "This packgage is for 'galaxynote,n7000,N7000,GT-N7000' devices: this is a ' '." . This happens with every single rom that I am trying to install via recovery. I tried to flash stock firmware two times, two different, still same effect, tried to whipe data/cache etc, still didnt got any effect. Any solution guys?
After you flash the stock ROM, the recovery will be stock as well.. You will not be able to flash roms from here.. For that you will need to flash philz kernel.
Well actually I can install anything via recovery, so installing kernel isnt possible.

I have exactly the same problem (and the same situation) as the OP. You cannot flash Philz kernel from stock recovery because the exact same error will pop up.
Right mate I think I got it. You will need to flash an older version of Philz kernel first, and then upgrade. Worked fine for me once I decided to install "05.05.2013 - PhilZ-cwm6 v5.00.4 with CWM 6.0.3.1 based recovery" first.
