I would vote the default web browser from android. Chrome and dolphin just eat too much resource
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda app-developers app
For me it is Dolphin. It's very fast, smooth and got the nicest UI of all browsers.
The stock android browser is fast enough, it is light and clear. I use it all the time

but I use Chrome cause I love it!
I think that also dolphin is great and a lot fast!
Firefox is a good browser but I use google for sync and chrome is the best for that.

firefox & chrome in combination, depending on how i feel
Chrome - the ability to see the tabs I had open on my laptop or my work desktop and auto-sync my bookmarks beats anything else hands-down.
Dolphin imo is good

Opera anyone ? I am using Opera on my linux-Winows and every mobilphone i owned and i think it is great.
Generally I stick with stock browser, but occasionally use Opera. The fastest custom browser for Android IMO.

The latest version of Dolphin has re-introduced flash.
I'm using Chrome, but suppose Dolphin is better optimozed. Only reason for my using chrome is full syncronisation with desktop version.

Hello all ! Well I use to use Ninesky but I wanted to give a try to Opera mobile.
I also like it but I'm wondering... why can't it play videos on Youtube ?
Thanks for your informations.
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda premium
I use dolphin HD and it can play videos and its a lot faster than opera.

Actually Ninesky can too. ;-) But I would like to know why Youtube's video cannot be played with Opera mobile.
Sorry for being curious about that.

If you play it from m.youtube.com, it will shows error something like "the protocol is not supported"
But if you open www.youtube.com (desktop version) the video can be played

I think it depends on which user agent you use. In advanced options you can choose if you want to use 'desktop' or 'mobile'.
Also in advanced option you can choose if Abode Flash files should be opend after clicking on it, automaticaly or you can turn flash off.
I'm sure that opera mobile can play videos from youtube and other tubes too

Yes it says something like that but do you know why ? Why Opera don't support that protocol in mobile user agent ?
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda premium
my guess is that opera does not support flash, or doesn't come with the plugin.
Trolling in the deep
Actually I was very happy with the option of using Desktop Agent, because many sites redirect you to mobile version if they detect stock browser or other mobile browsers, and the mobile version is very different and in some cases very limited.
But with the option Desktop Agent as far as I know any kind of tube works flawlessly. As for Dolphin, perhaps it's matter of ROMs, but in my experience it turned slower than Opera.
Ordered my nexus 7 (x2) as soon as there was a button on the UK website. Now I know chrome is the default browser, so I thought sweet, I'll install it on my a500 so I can get used to it before the tab arrive's.
Omg, what a piece of rubbish, every time I change tabs from XDA to another site the page is just plain white, then back to XDA since it was already tabbed and loaded you'd assume it would still be, but no. Its plain white. Then to piss me off even more halve way though writing this post it crashed lol! What kind of a browser crashes inputting text lol. I wanted to like it, in fact I do like the interface but the bugs are just not fun!
uninstalling that crap and going with the good old opera
Anyone else having probs with it ?

I'll just, use dolphin HD as I have been for awhile.

You must have something wrong with your A500, because that's not the experience I get on my Xoom or Galaxy Nexus...
The plain ol' Browser will be on the Market for download. I have no idea why Chrome is the default browser.

I don't know about A500 roms but to me it sounds like a memory issue or something, its sort of "killing" tabs to save memory and then reloading them once you need them again. Maybe some background processes eating memory?

Yeah I don't even have that problem on my Skyrocket. Chrome rocks.

It does crash occasionly if you keep getting a white page it can clear by going back a page then trying again if not close it then task kill it after that it will be fine.
Overall I find it to be far better than std browser.
I'm a very "clean user" I have fb opera order and chaos, that's it. thinking though maybe one of the processes I have disabled, chrome uses, I disable everything I don't use, camera Calender live wp themes etc, maybe that's the issue?
It don't crash for me at all...works fine and it doesn't look bad enough to use something else

I won't be using Chrome much on my N7 much if at all just simply because of the lack of adobe flash player support. Dolphin HD seems like a much better option.

Hey everyone, i've been trying a lots of calendar apps since having this phone. With Android 2.2/2.3 i used the stock calendar, mostly because of its very good 4x3 widget. Now on ICS this widget has gone, and i am still searching for a proper replacement. Currently i am using digical, a long time acalendar was my choice. But only Digical+ has exactly the widget i am searching for, a 4x3 month view with events displayed. But about 5€ are waaay to expensive for a calendar app.
This widget size is of much importance to me because i am also using a birthday app with a 4x1 widget.
Are there any suggestions? Is there any app i didnt stumble over yet? What are you using?
Help would really be appreciated.

I use Business Calendar Free (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=netgenius.bizcal&hl=de) and I'm very happy with it. There are dozens of widgets of which you can choose, even in free mode. Don't exactly know about the 4x3, I'm using the 4x4 weekly view.
I don't see why 5 EUR is too much? Good software is as important as decent hardware.
Anyway, I tried tens of calendar apps and ended up with the paid version of Business calendar (try free first).

It's already ported; it's the apw, android pro widgets, which I posted here before. It's paid, but I really like it. I don't have to much paid apps, just apw and swiftkey, and I can suggest you to buy apw because it's really lightweight and beautiful

Wanted to share with you a flashable zip I made which deletes the stock ICS LG Browser (which in my opinion sucks) and replaces it with google's AOSP ics browser. Its lighter, has a darker UI and I only tried it for a few hours but I can say its quite snappy and smooth.
I'll atach two flashables, AOSP and LG (in case you want to return to that crappy LG stuff... lol)
But dude the stock LGBrowser is fast and nice!I think its more suitable to upload a full black version only?Just Sayin

So I prefer to keep my phone as close to stock google's ics as possible.
Anyways I assure you this is even faster and nicer ^^

There are many system apps you can get from an old CM9 unofficial build. They work on IZS, I've done it before (I did it on IZS v0.4).
Sms, gallery, android browser, calculator, calendar (I think), and I can't remember more xD

Do either of you happen to use the Google app itself for you feed? If you do, when you click on a feed, it'll open it up in a mini version of chrome that's a bridge between the Google app and Google chrome.

I don't use feeds, assistant or search and Google app is among disabled apps.
Something else is using chrome.
It maybe a glitch in Pie. I would recommend that you report this issue to Samsung. I am running the latest edition of Oreo and Chrome is never running in the background. As I never use it.
Samsung internet is doing it too. Wonder if it's because of using Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram in the web browser instead of using their apps. Did that to see if there was an increase in battery life, but I'm not seeing a major difference and will probably install the apps back. View attachment 4709226
