HI I have safestrap 3.11, eclipse (latest version) on Rom slot 1, and the OTA stock JB 4.1.2 on my Stock slot.
Now that I have eclipse on Rom slot 1, can I overwrite my Stock slot with anything, or will that risk bricking my phone? I just don't want the OTA Verizon bloated crap on my phone even if it's not being used... I'd rather have something useful in its place

Is there a way I can flash the kit kat image to my moto x on AT&T? I tried to do the OTA update, but it failed. This link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2545775) is for a locked bootloader, but my moto x has an unlocked bootloaders (because I bought the unlocked GSM version of the phone and put an AT&T sim card in it). So can I just take the ROM that was posted in that thread and flash it via CWM?
Right now I am running 4.2.2 that is stock but rooted.
OTA wont take on a rooted device with custom recovery. you need to use a restore img and go back to stock and follow this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2538896
to get 4.4 rooted

What ROM version are you on? Unless you're on a intact NB4 ROM, you can't flash the NC2 update, it will fail the file checks.
If you're on MLG or one of the JB ROMs you can just flash back to one of those if your base installation is damaged/corrupted. This is assuming your bootloader isn't A3. If it is, you can only flash the MLG ROM with the A3 bootloader, or have your phone completely restored by the Samsung people at Best Buy.
If your base installation is damaged/corrupted/etc... on bootloader A3 you will not be able to flash the update and you will need to either warranty the phone or go to Best Buy and have them do a full restore on the phone.

Hi guys i have a little question,
Right now i have 4.4.2 firmware, unlocked and rooted and with twrp
I wanna test the pac rom or cyanogen a little but my question is, if i have my backup of 4.4.2, after i install a cyan or pac rom based on 4.4.4, can i return safely to my backup of 4.4.2?
Ty
it depends on what is included in the 4.4.4 rom your are flashing.
If you use RSDlite to flash a stock 4.4.4 rom it includes all parts like... system.img, motoboot.img, gpt.bin, modems, etc. The official OTA's will patch/upgrade those parts too. Once you flash those updated parts, you can't downgrade without a very real chance of bricking.
If the custom ROM you are trying to flash only updates the SYSTEM partition, and doesn't touch anything else, then usually you can safely revert to your previous backup.
Hello,
New to all this and my phone is now past-it enough that I am willing to start tinkering!
I have read through the forums to try and understand what I need to do, can I just check this is somewhere along the right lines:
I want to trigger the Kitkat update, but am on the stock Orange GB Jellybean rom/firmware.
I *think* I need to use RSD to flash a Retail EU JB firmware onto my phone, which will then pick up the OTA Kitkat update? Is that right? I know there are other ways to load Kitkat but they are more involved/more subject to bricking my phone etc?
Edit: above works after bit more researching! End.
I want to get CM13 running on my AT&T GS5 and need a little help before I get started.
Guide for GS5 CM13 ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/unified-development/rom-cyanogenmod-13-0-android-6-0-t3237502
Current Status:
-Rooted
-Build = OC4
- Kernel = 3.4.0 Mar 16 2015
-Recovery = Stock
The guide requires TWRP which isn't an option with the locked bootloader so I need Safestrap but there isn't an apk for OC4. There is only NC3. - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2794087
Is there a Safestrap apk for OC4 or do I need to downgrade to NCE first? It seems people have had varying degrees of success and failure with this downgrade.
Can I flash CM13 with Safestrap from the NC3 build? It seems like a bit of a jump from 4.4 to 6.0.1
Has anyone done this?
Thanks!
You can install the old safestrap, it just won't work unless you flash the nc3 kernel, then flash the lollipop one to get back out. CM roms won't work on our phone, especially not an MM one. Stick to the att s5 forums, to be on the safe side, unified development does not apply to us.
