USB host mode - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi,
how can i use USB host mode on N1 ?
it's running on CM7.2 currently.
thanks in advance
from one heaven,

I've never tried with my n1 so I can't tell you what ROMs its possible in, should be activated in the kernel.
But what I can say is posting in multiple sections won't get an answer faster, actually makes things harder when people try to search to find answers to questions like what ROMs have a certain function as the more threads to dig through the harder it is to find what your looking for.
I suggest searching a bit, maybe cm change log or github for a commit

you don't have to tell me. wasting your time & my time, annoying.
it could be better in Q&A section, i thought.
i already work hard to find it out, but no solution.

This poor kid is going to get flammed for asking a question that has been asked in about 300 different posts.
Obviously he didn't use the search function and didn't follow the forum rules before posting.
Unfortunately, I can't close or delete this so I'll report it and we'll just have to wait for another moderator to do it.
These posts are annoying though.
To OP,
To date you cannot run flash on your G1. The best way to watch Flash videos is with an app called Skyfire. Look for it on Market. Or you can try flashing a SenseUI rom. No one is trying to get it to work in non-SenseUI roms because it can't be done at this time.
Also be aware that if you post without searching you are breaking forums rules and I don't think that I need to tell you what can happen should you continue to do so. So make sure you always search before you post. Besides, it'll keep the bashing and flaming down.
To everyone else... remember that if you don't have anything nice or constructive to say... don't say anything.
On searching for answers.
I've been searching for an answer to this question for three days and the only relevant post I've found is this one.
So thanks guys for flaming the OP without even bothering to direct him (or anyone else) to a useful post - the finding of which, seems to be easy for you.
Anyone who's spent any time on here knows that the information you're searching for is usually spread across a number of different threads in a number of different sub-forums. So if you know where that info is, a link would have been nice.
The answer is NO, but more importantly.... WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO???!?!?!!
Adobe must die!
Flash offers nothing and causes the suffering of millions.

[q] im new!! I need a cm6 break down!!

I'm pretty much new to the cm6 software. I know about the wifi tethering and the live wall paper, and the some wat speed but thats basically it... Is there anything else u can do with cm6???? Guys, can we stop with the personal attacks.
Regarding this, the OP may wish to consider the use of Q&A next time, as this forum is for development.
Additionally, a read of the "XDA mantra" at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2031989&postcount=45 will explain a little about how xda started, and what is expected before posting.
As for the forum rules, please read them and stop with the childish insults and name calling.

Thread cleaned a bit.
First i would like to say that doing a search in the main HTC HERO CDMA forum which can be found on the top right of the page will help you out tremendously.
As for kernels, Here is a link to all the kernels that Decad3nce has done. You can read through and test them out.
A lot of people are using the #14 kernel which can be downloaded at this link
CM6 #14 kernel
As for customizing, either go to the themes and development forums and you will find themes and themed ROM's. There is also some tweaks you can do in settings>Cyanogenmod Settings. It's more of trying out different things. What I do to my phone is my preference. Make it your own. Trial and Error..

No problem. People forget that they were once a noob and instead of pointing out what you should do and answering the question, they berate you.

Actually, it's more "us nerdy people" don't like being insulted, and it's irritating to see someone say "oh, I'm not going to read through that because I'm lazy and it's easier if I just ask my question instead".
Yea i understand what your saying but I wasn't tryin to be lazy..i did alot of research and i knew alot about how it worked and operated and the cool features..not the neccesary steps. i have a alltel hero and i was doing the sprint way but quickly notice it wasnt working so i googled alltel hero came to this site and the alltel rom root was still in the works. However I still did research, also tried the forums way it was a tad misleading..so soon after i found a site with 8 simple steps that answered all my questions. So to say jus read is not helping as much being point in the right direction..So I greatly appreciate the people above who helped and pointed me in the right direction. And those with unneccsary side comments, just don't post..It's simple..

CM7 Compatible Keyboards

I don't suppose anyone knows of a handful of keyboards that are compatible with CM7 eh?
I've been trying to find, but everything I try and flash over doesn't work.. If someone could possibly point me in the right direction for keyboards that are confirmed to work for CM7 on the captivate that would be much appreciated.
Any help would be appreciated, as I've spent hours trying to screw around with keyboards and haven't been able to get anything working on this rom.. And no offense to the dev team at CM, but the keyboard blows lol.
Other than that the rom is awesome.
So if anyone could point me in the right direction, or post anything that is confirmed to work, that would be great.
Thanks all.
Any reason you couldn't ask this in the CM7 sticky at the top of this forum?
Yes, because that one gets cluttered, and this is just keyboard specific. I thought this might be my best chance at getting an answer..
Any particular reason why it matters? Once I have my keyboards the thread can be closed/locked w/e
Because the forum doesn't operate on your rules. The ROM-specific stickies are here for a reason. Use them.
Ok guys lets keep it cool. Your best bet would be to Read through the CM7 thread and ask there as the CM7 builds dont use any Samsung drivers so while it may not be an issue, It could be. So is rom related.

First of all, I am going to assume (perhaps wrongly) that you are 14 years-old (from your user name), and believe me when I tell you: I know that age is hard, and I know because I've been there, however, no matter how hard it was for me I knew that if I dared asking my mother what a word meant, I'd get immediate attention and instructions to f-off and check up on a dictionary (there was no wikipedia nor google back then) and that no-one else was going to do for me what I didn't do by myself, it is with such background that I want to tell you something:
Last saturday I decided to try ICS on my N1, I had no idea where to start since it had been over 8 months when I last did anything to my phone. Still it took me 25 minutes to not only find the right thread, read it, understand it, download the stuff I needed, and read again to make sure I am not doing something dumb, it also was enough time to actually do the whole process.
Now, considering you already found your way into XDA-Developers and you know how to read threads and know how to post questions, I'd say you have wasted approximately 1 hour thinking somebody is actually going to give you the ROM for ICS and Blackrose, let alone baby-walk you through the process.
I am going to assume that most devs are ignoring this thread (and rightly so) as well as most respected members (and I'd like to consider myself a quiet, self-respected member) but still, I do believe its good to take a bit of time from everyday routine to let someone else know "hey! you are doing it wrong" and hopefully get into that person's head and make that little switch go click.
If after all of this you still feel entitled to have someone hand you over a couple of files, please by all means head over to this location: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2031989&postcount=45
Thanks and have a great life!
srry im very new here and i couldnt get my way around and ive been checking for hours on the files for ics on the N1 and had nothing but thanks for ur reply
as i said, again im extremely new to all of this and i dont know how to put ROMs in the phone and how to just do any of this if anyone can just give me something from where i can start i will be gladly appreciated
See, now that is different and worth of paying at least a little bit of attention. However I don't believe you have spent hours without making some sense of anything, at least you know about ICS and Blackrose, you may have a rough idea of what you want to accomplish, and so I'll point you in the right direction by telling you to look for the very first thread on the android development forum for nexus one, the one referring to the wiki and to now read it instead of skipping it as you probably did the first time. I'm sure if you read through it you'll understand the basics and will be able to figure it out really soon.
Good luck.

I use this one in my (now replaced by SGS3) nexus one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1366897
You should read the instructions carefully, the process involves a few steps...
Note that there are 2 o 3 ICS ROMs for Nexus One, and they all have some glitches (USB tethering, camera, SoDs) but they are quite usable.

USB Mass Storage? help please :/

I am on Alliance Rom XXLSC Beta 1.1 and when I connect my phone to a computer I have to manually press ''activate mass storage'', I hate this, I can't view files on my phone while it is connected to the pc and this is a real time waster for me.
Please can somebody tell me how I get my phone phone to connect as ''N7000'' as it does on some other Roms.
I have tried the USB switcher from the market but it has no effect. I have also asked in the respected ROM Thread but the DEV hasn't been around for a long time as he has ''real problems'' to deal with and not tech issues which I totally understand but that is good to me lol
Thanks in advance guys n gals, I also know where the Thanks Button is with XDA PREMIUM, reply for unlimited thanks! thanks
*bump*

why dont you try a different rom i know alliance doesnt update in a while.
And he posted the question already in the Rom thread and got answers or started discussions.
Searching in the thread I found a lot of references to USB/MTP/mass storage and why R.H. switched to MTP.
I think there is no real sense in starting a technical question in Q&A for a very specific Rom configuration like Robbie's.
So I would follow the above advice and try a different CR with a mass storage mode you like.
But: One single click is a time waster?
And even if posting here it doesn't seem necessary to provide informations about the very personal reasons of the Dev and ending it with "lol" (even if the last part of this sentence doesn't seem to make sense).

People had a go when I simply said the the Dev is too busy to do further work on his Rom, whats the problem saying he has real life things to sort out and not minor tech issues related to a phone? From monday I too will be too busy to do any kind of modding, playing with my phone so I have 5 days to get it how I want then I'm stuck with the final setup for 6 months. The recession caused by the few is affecting the many who played no part in it, its 1 of the biggest injustices of our time. The creators of the recession havent been affected like the rest of us, they continue earning obscene amounts of money while the rest of sacrifice to fix the problem they created.
- Yes its a time waster, if I listen to music on my phone while transfering files the media can not be read so the music stops.
I can not transfer an apk I have saved on my computer and then install it, I have to turn off USB Mass Storage to be able to view it on my phone. Turning on USB Mass Storage takes 5/10 seconds while it loads so yes its a time waster, its not just a case of 'clicking' 1 button.

Ive tried nearly every ROM available, Alliance is the 1 I like, I just want to get it to connect as 'N7000' so I can use my phone simultaneously.
