Hi!
I fairly recently bought a secondhand Droid 4 from overseas. It worked fine on Australia's Optus network up until a few days ago, when it threw a No SIM error. The SIM also didn't work in my little spare phone, so I went to the store to swap it. The Droid 4 still showed No SIM with that one too, the store technician couldn't get it to read after I took it out.
I tried it with another spare Optus SIM, it also damaged that one too.
Phone appears to work fine on wifi, it worked before it damaged the first SIM. Any suggestions on a hopefully cheap repair for it?
Thanks in advance.

This is weird...
i got 2 weeks ago a new galaxy s2 att and used fine for a week with a standard straight talk sim card that i cut myself to fit the micro sim port...
it worked fine for a week calls, internet message, media message, everything.
i was charging the phone on the wall one day and when i get it to make a phone call i noticed not sim card inserted error...
i cleaned contact reinserted nothing....i put in my wife phone sim card is perfect.
i sent my galaxy out for repair at the same time i got this great deal on craiglist an atrix hd for $100...
I inserted the same sim card and everything was fine untill yesterday....i got sim card not inserted error...ohmygod i said please dont tell me....
reset phone cleaned contacts nothing ......
My question is can a sim card damage the phone?
Both phone were rooted
Both phones were att provider using straight talk service
Both phones were 4g
I removed from both phones the att junk
Any of this they may have somehow locked the sim card port or damaged it?
It can not be a coincidence any expert can get a good answer?
I'm going crazy
I had the same problem back when I had my One X and my brother had the same problem with his Atrix HD because we cut down our SIM Cards. After I got an official Micro SIM the problem stopped. When you cut your own Micro SIM you stand the chance of trimming off too much. Even if its only a small amount it can still cause the SIM to move around which causes the connection loss.

You are not crazy , you just lack good logical reasoning . The common thing is the sim . I have no idea why you would send your phone for repair when the other sim worked perfectly . If sim port was damaged , it wouldn't have worked with any sim . Get a new sim , report the old one as lost . Ask for micro sim as the replacement or cut it with a micro sim cutter ( Available at most service providers cust service centers or buy one from ebay , they are cheap ) .

That's true , cutting with scissors can be tricky . However I cut my SIM with a micro sim cutter and everything is perfect for the past 2 months . Even if you go to some customer service center (atleast here ) , they do the same cutting with a micro sim cutter . I find the whole filling the application with giving my ID proof again and then getting the active connection in another 24hrs on the replaced micro sim very tedious .
I use microsim cutter which I bought only about 5$. It works perfectly. I can even use the cutting side to cover the microsim as mini sim again.
thanx friends, your answers gimme some hope that in fact is the sim card that does not make good contact.
still cant explain why when i insert other sim card inactive the phones wont read them at all...(.like this is another provider enter unlock code)
just i wish somebody of the experts here can assure me that the sim card can not damage the fone or lock it.
(of course i'm not talking physical damage at the pin point)
thanx
Just want to reach out to see if anyone has been able to activate an locked or unlocked Galaxy Camera. I purchased mine through Amazon, and it's supposed to be unlocked. But in the network menu, the only carrier that shows up is AT&T. I tried T-Mobile and didn't work. I opened account with AT&T today and tried three different sim cards and none would work. Funny thing is that I borrowed the AT&T's rep sim card to test and it actually works. But not the sim card they gave me. Tried Verizon as well and it's not compatible. So now I'm stuck. This is my second camera from Amazon, since I returned the first one. The box on the second one says "unlocked," but it sure doesn't act like one. Ideas guys?

Hi Guys...
2 days ago i woke up and found that my phone had no signal. I thought that Rogers (my carrier) was screwing around or something. So i just restarted my device. Nothing.
I checked *#*#4636#*#* and my radio was on (toggled it on and off and on again) and the correct network types were selected (GMS/LTE/CDMA etc. I checked in the settings menu and the correct network types were selected again. Lastly APN settings were all entered for MMS, Data, LTE, etc.
I try to search for the network and it shows Rogers, Telus and Bell. I try to connect to Rogers and i get a message saying that "Your SIM card does not allow this type of connection".
I luckily had a backup from the day previous which i restored. No go there. I did a full clean wipe and install of Viper One RC2 and then a random AOSP-based ROM, again nothing.
the weird thing is that in the Phone Information menu the device reads my phone number and IMEI easiy, so its not like the phone isn't reading the SIM card...
Has anyone encountered this problem or have any suggestions? I have seen this error happen with other devices when i Googled it and searched XDA, but no solution or resolution, and definitely nothing specific to the HTC One.
Did you buy the phone new or used? I've seen this happen to people who bought used phones on ebay. There's a scam going in which the seller will wait a month to get outside the return period and then report it stolen. They get the $$$ and a new phone, and you're screwed.
If you bought it new, your sim card might be damaged.
I wish it was a SIM card issue, but it's not. I tried the same SIM in my Nexus 4 and it works just fine. My sister has an iPhone 4S, I swapped the SIM from it and it didn't work either.
The device itself is a Telus device unlocked that I bought locally brand new from a seller off of kijiji. The device was completely untouched and wrapped in all the right ways. I bought it back in June I think.

It may have been a brand new phone that the seller bought and immediately put up for sale.
You need to talk to Telus to see if the IMEI has been reported stolen.
So the device is definitely blacklisted in Canada...Rogers is saying it's Telus that blacklisted it. Telus is saying they never had the device in their inventory (IMEI doesn't show in their database), so it isn't their device and they didn't blacklisted it. Bell said they had in their database and its a deactivated IMEI, so...I'll be taking a trip to several corporate stores to get this sorted today.

Hey guys, I bought a second hand AT&T Moto X 2014 off ebay about a week ago with a clean IMEI. I unlocked the phone by buying a code online, but since then have not been able to get a stable signal. I purchased a new TMobile nano card, and had it activated. I'll get cell service for about 3 minutes, and can make calls, send a text... then the phone will get no service whatsoever for the rest of the day. I'll get surprise pockets of service for several minutes once or twice a day.
I spent some time with the TMobile technicians, who have registered the IMEI, have done a master restore (not sure what that meant) sent several signal downloads to the sim, and ultimately said the issue is with the phone. I also tried my wifes ATT sim card and rebooted, still resulting in no service on ATT either. The Moto X is running 5.02. I've tried messing with the APN settings in various formats that I've seen online. My new sim works with my Nexus 5 perfectly.
I contacted the ebay seller, who is willing to refund 50% of the purchase due to unlocking the phone online. Do I pretty much have a bricked phone? I can't seem to find a solution and have gone back to using my nexus 5 with a shattered screen.
Thanks for the help.
Try changing the network from gsm/LTE (default) to wcdma preferred. I found the phone to pick up better signal when I change it to wcdma. Download the app secret phone info from the playstore. I also have the at&t variant and I unlocked it buying an online code and it works flawlessly with my carrier

Thanks so much!!
After having tried reflashing to stock, fastbooting just the radio, doing numerous factory resets, downloading the app you suggesting and switching the networks gets me reliable cell coverage! Now I just have to work on figuring out how to get data coverage.
Thanks again!
How is the world did you know to do this? This happened to me after I unlocked my AT&T XT1097. Once unlocked with T-Mobile SIM, the phone no longer shows any service with either AT&T or T-Mobile. Very frustrating, was ready to send the phone back and luckily decided to Google and of course, this is exactly what the issue was. THANK YOU, THANK, THANK YOU.
Why is this even an issue with this phone? Makes no sense. You truly saved the day.
Getting the unlock code
Can you guys please tell me where you got the unlock codes from? There are a bunch of sites online, and I don't know which one to purchase it from.
Thanks

Try eBay.
Hi guys, been trying to figure out what went wrong.. I'm on a unlocked T-Mobile note 5 using on ATT. Already on marshmallow, was trying out a couple of international roms which were working fine. Last thing I did right before I got the "Invalid SIM card/ Network locked SIM card inserted" notification was the security hack to bypass exchange thru Xtouchwiz xposed app. My sim is working fine on another phone so can't be sim. Anyone here have any suggestions? Thank you..

I've had this as a random problem. I changed my sim a couple of times for a new one and it seems to be ok for the last few weeks. I also added a bit of stick paper to the sim to hold it in place which seemed to work for a bit! I put it down to faulty sim cards and a highly sensitive phone.

Yeah I replaced the sim as well but no go. I called tmobile and they said that the phone was unlocked temporarily which sounds funny to me. Never heard of unlocking for just a period of time. So of course they said they would need to speak to the original owner of phone in order to unlock again. Obviously I'm the owner now the phone is not reported lost or stolen or blacklisted. I just think they don't want to help me because I don't have an account with them.

Most likely your phone is locked via the "Device Unlock App". If T-Mobile doesn't want to unlock your phone you can try this service:
https://www.unlockradar.com/service/t-mobile-usa-device-unlock-app-official-unlock.
Please mak sure to read the detailed instructions.
