[Q] time reset after battery dies too soon - Galaxy S III Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i recently bought my Samsung galaxy s3 mini and i loved it instantly but i quickly noticed that my battery discharges way too soon even without using it(on screen lock) and on top of that if the battery dies before i get the chance to charge it the time resets to January 2012. i have tried all the different apps out there to help with the battery like deep sleep battery saver, battery guard or smth also a bunch of task killers but no luck so far. please if anyone has a more permanent solution other than carrying a spare battery HELP!! i'm desperate. :crying:
P.S i have a couple of screen shots of the discharge graph thingy if necessary

download BBS and check what is draining your battery
btw, task killers drain more battery than not using one

Mine will be stuck at bootanime when my battetry dies. So i dont let it die.

I think your battery is defective because there is nothing wrong with the BBS stats

Not sure if batteries are included in warranty claims but did you try taking it back to the shop?

battery life

hey guys
in the last couple of weeks ive flashed about 5 roms which consider to be good.
i have to say I really like android but one issue keeps me frustrated
and thats battery life.
how can it be that my friends iphone battery lasts so much more then my galaxy s1?
ive gone through numeros guides decreased brightness to minimum
stopped syncing my gmail account and other stuff as well.
as time goes by im regreting not buying iphone when i had the chance
because battery is one of the most important things in a smartphone.
currently,
i am 25 years old student studying computer science in the university
which means im out most of the day.
its not that rare for me to be stuck without battery and its so frustrating.
i ask for your help please,
what is the best rom for s1 regarding battery life
and has hebrew on it?
(im from israel)
thanks alot mates!
Have you ever calibrated it after flashing?

Dropping to 0% is the worst thing a LI-ION battery can experience.
There are some calibrations methods around, you can try some apps but I think you ROM just needs some time to calibrate the battery sign. Are you running a zillion of apps in the background?
Another option is to buy a new battery with more power. stock battery has 1500mah. but you can get a battery with 1800mah for your s1.
Did you wipe battery stats in cwm?
Disable mobile data or switch to 2G only it helps a lot. Phone will drain battery if you have a bad signal
I have to second the disable the data connection recommend. Also your battery life will get better the longer you use a rom and the more charge/discharge cycles your battery sees. To be clear that does not mean 100%-0% every time just regular charging.
I'm personally on GB and with data disconnected for most of the day and the 1800mah battery I have been on the same charge for almost a week and still have 30% left. It's truly amazing!!

Dropping below the minimum voltage is what you're talking about, and that's not possible because of the controller on each battery. That's why the phone dies when it hits 0% (or thereabouts) even though it still has plenty of power left over to run the device. Running a full cycle on the battery will be just fine.

[Q] Battery is extremely swollen, can I still use my phone?

I've already ordered a new battery, but the one I have at the moment is so swollen that the case wont go on, I've sellotaped it in place. Can I still use it for a couple of days until my new one arrives or should I stop immediately?

i had the same problem, i have the battery replaced already, but i was able to use my phone normally, just keep in mind battery will not last as it usually did, for me it lasted about 30 min,
Oh, im only using is while its plugged in now, so when I get home I can browse the web etc, Im not taking it out of my room as it would be useless to me. As long as my life isnt being risked by having the thing beside me.
Thread moved to Q & A section, post in the relevant section next time.

It is kind of a danger as such swollen batteries may have a chance of exploding if it keeps expanding itself....also has chances of an acid leak.....

Or a smaller vicious battery might emerge from your swollen battery's belly and start hunting other electronic devices.

Ideally one should not use mobile phone as long as it is charging and also should avoid overcharging the battery. Battery overcharging is one of the reason of battery swelling. Most of us have a habit of charging their mobile phone during night and we do not unplug the charger when the battery is fully charged. Over a period of time, this actually hampers the battery life and also causes battery swelling.
You can use 'Full Battery Alarm App' android app developed by Replay Creation. This app sounds an alarm when the battery is fully charged so that charger cable can be unplugged to avoid battery overcharging.
App can be downloaded from google play store.
Actualy u shld avoid using it because it might explode.
I have recently seen that my samsung galaxy j5 (2015)battery has been swollen ..but I can lock my back cover ,there is some silly difference during locking...but my battery has swollen 40%more than normal...can I use it..or there may be any type of explosion /blasting in mY mobile???..plz help

[Q] Dead Battery?

I'm pretty sure my stock battery has died after just over a year of usage. However I just wanted to check with you guys whether it's actually flat or if my phone is faulty. The battery will last about a day with minimum usage, but if I turn on wifi or data it will literally die in a matter of minutes? This is the same with every rom and I wipe battery stats. So would buying a new battery solve the problem?

Is the shape of your battery regular??
If not, change your battery not rom.
Note:due to overcharging, shape of battery may change, happened with me.
Minimum usage would drain battery so fast to 0%.

Sorry, shape of my battery? What do you mean by that?
Your battery has been heavily used. It's life is over. These are the symptoms of a nearly-dying battery. When you replace with a new battery your phone will function like normal again.

Thank you! These are the words I wanted to hear haha XD Just ordered a new stock battery as after a lot of research, that seems like the best option.
Shape means... Shape of my Battery transformed into irregular one... Was unable to close backcover... Like balloon instead of battery..

I think you probably study engineering. Don't dig into it ! Sometimes everything has a straight meaning, not always enigmatic !

U can test the phone if is he draining power too much whitout buying a new Sga battery. If you can find some battery like Nokia bl-5c(i use it sommetimes) or some battery similar pins (+//-) to fit it in and try it on.
Test old sga battery.
Try to charge your old Sga baterry in a univerzal charger,do not worry abouth overcharging beacuse it got to protect it.

Discharging whole charge in matter of minutes - no more tests please its 100% battery dead in all probability
Replace it and don't overuse like you did with this one

[Q] Suggestions for higher charge battery?

I use my phone alot for work, and I really need to get more juice out of it. I've tried changing sync settings and using battery stats to check app useage but battery life is still a bit lousy. Anyone got a suggestion for another battery for it?
Thanks

Don't wanna advertise it, but i installed smabergs "X-Power" rom from dev-section one and a half week ago and experienced a much lower drain on battery since then. Maybe it is a try for you too?

So wait, do you actually have a bad battery drain or are you just freaking out because an app is telling you you only have an hour and a half on a full charge?
If it's the latter you need to chill out. If there isn't actually a problem, then there's no need to worry.
