Help!!! Help!!! Help!!! - LG Optimus 2x

Hi all,
I am really ashamed to post it here but no one was helping me in QA threads.
My problem is, I have lost my phone's touch after rooting and installing cwm with AIO toolkit.
Now smartflashed ICS kdz but nothing happened.
Flashed many custom roms also, no luck.
So please help me.

So try different bootloader and rom for it also with custom kernel. If software changes doesn't help it could be hardware problem so you should take it to repair service it may require digitizer replacement
As you say you flashed many roms so one of them atleast i believe it had custom kernel
in my opinion you should go to repair service before you make it worse

This phone is really unbrickable via sw. I happened the same blackout but found the solution searching on xda forum.
When smartflash or cwm do not have good end you must nvflash a new rom (loosing your internal sd data).
Go to Homero2 xda site and download the nvflash rooted 20s rom. After doing it you'll have your 2x working with that GB rom.
Then you can do many things:smartflash an original LG rom or download a custom rom new or old bl, change the bl with AIOT etc... and use cwm for new installation or for restoring backup.

Dear, thnx for your support, my real issue is No Touchscreen after rooting and flashing original as well as custom firmwares. Even aroma installer's touch wasn't working. the phone is in repairing shop and let's see if replacing digitizer fixes it. :/ By the way, when I flashed v20 rom which was NVFLASH packaged, the phone failed to start and suddenly went to black out as soon as LG logo appeared.

[WARNING THREAD] must read this before doing anything

here are some points which a mini user must follow to keep his g'mini away from problems
Flashing roms:-
now many mini users flash rom on their mobile with stock recovery then create a thread here saying "I did this how to get this fixed" why you not read before doing anything
be sure to flash cwm to your phone with Odin and never flash it through rom manager even if it shows g'mini in the list
ROM manager:-
Flashing recovery through rom manager is highly risky 99.99% are of bricking their mobile (obviously can be revived), although many users have posted that they have successfully flashed rom (not recovery) through the app, but still am warning you to not use it on any cost and also I will also like to ask devs to remove it from their rom, by including the app in their rom people got encouraged to use it, I am not blaming the developer of rom manager, he is doing a very great work but rom manager is not made for galaxy mini
Touch firmware update:-
Many of you are interested in special codes which have to put in the dialer to access special areas of android os
in the bulk of those codes there is a code for updating touch firmware, but you are warned that you should not do this, these days many problem are coming about touch, updating touch firmware will brick your touch, and flashing will not do anything and its a tricky job to get the touch working again
but if you have did update even after reading this please do not create a new thread instead write problem here, all the members here will try to solve it
what is touch firmware update:- there is an option in samsung's android phone to update its touch firmware, and its a very risky task to do, 80% of the result are of bricking the touch, and then what happens is hours of Googling, unwanted tensions in mind and obviously a bricked touch
how to fix it:- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22709246&postcount=1 here is a very good tut on fixing your touch
Rooting and Unrooting:-
Currently there are two packages to root galaxy mini, both have their on advantages, but you need to keep in mind that you must use the same packages for rooting and unrooting, using different packages can cause instability.
flashing recovery:-
flashing recovery through rom toolbox or flash_image binary is not recommended it may lead to a brick, instead use the method discribed in thousands of tutorial around internet, most secure way to flash recovery is through Odin using a recovery.tar file according to your current version
unlocking phone:-
many of you wanted to unlock your mobile to use other company's sim on your sim locked mobile, and thousands of articles are there to do this in galaxy mini, but don't for get to backup you efs folder to a safe place so of something just mis-happens then you can use the backup to restore the imei, another thing is never make any changes to the file located in the efs folder, or else you will have a mp4 player instead of a fully working android
Please Xplain more about Touch Firmware Upgrade, what's its effect on sensitivity, silky smoothness.....
I know there is Google but regarding to mini's touch we could understand better.
He had given so important guide and in return he had got only 1 thanks .
Edit: I forgot to thanks him too

No, actually I had been lurking on the forums for sometime so knew about this. But I have heard too many horror stories
if someone is dumb enough to do anything with his phone without any knowledge about it... let's just say, remove all warning labels from all kinds of products, and let the natural selection begin
thanks for advice

Hi there im using emanon v7 galaxy mini and cwm v4
can i upgrade my cwm to 5.0.2.8 via recovery mode?? and do i need to wipe cache /data
cause new experience rom requires 5.0.2.8cwm

getting a custom ROM on the T849

I've rooted it, yes.
never encountered so many problems as I have trying to get a ROM or update on this tablet. I went to older threads and the links are either broken or dead.
Is there ANY current guide on what I need to do to successfully flash a custom ROM on this?
I installed CWM but it doesn't boot into that either. ODIN recognizes it just fine, but I can't upgrade/patch the BL
help please!

Firstly I wasnt been a douche and I WAS helping you out. The best way to learn is to do research, search and read as you pick up allot along the way. I havent got a T849 and didnt even know what it was until I did a quick look.
For GB just go to the Overcome thread then read and follow the PDF guide to flash kernel/rom etc.
For ICS follow the Overcome Guide and then put the latest CM9 nightly or other ICS based rom on your SD card along with gapps and flash them both (rom first) with recovery mode.

This is the one i used, worked great.
Thanks guys! I did take a backup but somehow it got deleted..
I did create a backup file with CWM but after recovering (completed) from this file the phone keeps rebooting and it doesn't go further than the LG logo.

Can the Samsung I9000 Galaxy S be Permanently bricked?

Hello Everyone
I have read quite a bit about flashing but have not tried it yet. I know that the phone can be soft bricked if there is some problem and can be subsequently recovered as well. I also read about something known as nand corruption and I guess that too is recoverable as well.
What I wanted to know was can this phone be permanently bricked and if yes in what cases can it be possible?
I searched google with the same question and found that there can be emmc chip failure but that affects the S2 and Galaxy Note and that too particularly the ICS roms only.
So I wanted to know what is the status of this phone as far as bricking permanently is concerned.
Regards
till what i have experienced so far that it can only be permanently bricked by throwing it on wall
P.s. till now i have flashed thousands of times...
Thanks! These kind of replies are motivating to start experimenting and trying some roms!

i would advice you to read the developer instruction carefully and in any doubt check with experience users/read comment in thread and then only flash anything...
I have expierence with sgs+, sgsII, sg5 (gt-i5500), htc one s & lg optimus x2.. the sgsII didnt worked anymore cuz a friend try'd to flash it but had no knowledge about what he is doing but then i ressurected it and now it works.. i think it is not possible to brick a phone (but i am only sure at samsung smartphones) if you do a mistake there are still ways to ressurect it if you did something wrong.

The tutorial for almost all roms seems to be same!
1.) Update your phone to xxjw4 through odin.
2.) Root your phone.
3.) Apply update via recovery mode.
And if you have to update another rom repeat the procedure above!
But reading few threads on XDA the information here seem very complicated for some roms! :-?

yes... few users are complaining about loosing imei and not able to connect to network... so best practice says always flash JB over ICS and ICS over GB... always flash JB over ICS....
If you need more info or links head to remics-jb thread in development section.

Some Samsung phones can be bricked by flashing. The SGS is not one of them though - it's safe.

if you flash another phone's rom like i9100 s2 it will be bricked..Hard brick
But this is only happening if i9100 rom file has a pit file
Long story short flash an i9100 rom that has ext4.pit file, phone won't be alive... No download mode no recovery no charging animation...JTAG will be required.

WARNING: Dont touch Rom Manager

Since a last few days, I've been seeing a lot of threads in Q&A where users are complaining that their device stopped working after flashing recovery via ROM Manager. I created this thread so that people dont end up bricking their devices. ROM Manager does not work on ace. Do NOT trust any sites telling you to flash CWM recovery via Rom Manager. We have a working and stable unofficial CWM recovery already, you can download it from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18167974
Note to MOD - Please sticky this thread and copy it to Android Development section if possible.
ROM Manager is pretty much a fail for ALL devices. After I got my first Android, and was a n00b of rooting, I used ROM Manager to dl and flash CM7. Guess what?
Bootloop. Never touched it again. Of course, it was only a soft brick, and it was a simple fix, but since it was my first ever ROM and first ever Android and first ever root, naturally I freaked

Shouldn't this go in General section?

Yes. It's a General thread. The ROM Manager thing is posted across this forum many times, so I don't see the point of making a sticky. About Q&A questions - there always were newcomers and always will be.

I know. I thought of putting it in development section because many people dont read general section before rooting. A lot of other device forums have similar types of thread in Development and Original development section. So, I felt like creating one for ace too.
As for the sticky thing, a lot of people dont care to go through the guides properly. A warning thread especially for Rom manager would make sure no one uses rom manager. I created this thread ecause a lot of people were ending up bricking their devices. If its useless, mod can delete it.
I agree with tj_droid, there are more and more cases coming up where the users try to flash cwm with rom manager and hard brick their phones! Threads like this could save many Ace's!
+1 to make it sticky!
First thing i do when i finish installing CyanogenMod roms is deleting Rom Manager, haha

Ok now that I've bricked my Ace, I have a question. If I take it in to a repair shop to have it Jtagged for repair (full brick, no response at all) can they save the software that was loaded on my phone or does the process eliminate the entire phone's contents and return it back to factory state? I had a lot of stufff on it, that I should've backed up and didn't....
be a whole lot easier if google play would show it as not being compatible. it would save alot of Ace's
what happen if we touch?
It will brick your Ace.
