[rom][4.3.1][unofficial] aokp (1/11/13) - Galaxy S III Android Development

Hi guys,
This is my UNOFFICIAL build of AOKP for the I9300. Completely untouched, synced and built today. I decided to post it because the last nightly was on the 18th and i couldnt wait to get my hands on active display. So if anyone else was getting a bit impatient and couldn't build it for whatever reason, here it is
It works just fine but just remember if you break your device, don't come crying to me. I'm not responsible for your actions.
DOWNLOAD: http://www.mediafire.com/download/utzik16a7b62o49/aokp_i9300-ota-eng.raverrr.zip
(Feel free to mirror)
A dirty flash worked for me coming from the last nightly.
Dirty flash:
-Wipe dalvik cache
-Wipe cache
-Flash ROM
-Flash gapps
-Reboot (and go as fast as your little hands will take you to ROMcontrol to check out the active display settings )
I may post other builds, i may not. It depends entirely on how impatient i get to try new features.
All credits to the AOKP team, device and kernel devs.
PEACE

**[4.1.2][CM10][Hybrid] Utacka's ParanoidAndroid 2.56 Nightlies**

A word about how this thread came about:
Our highly respected developer Utacka got fed up with 4.2.1 ETA inquiries, feature requests and questions posted by those with no inclination to read or search anything, not even the OP.
We need to let Utacka have some respite from those in order to not lose him altogether.
So, I'll be compiling Utacka's ParanoidAndroid nightlies for him and Utacka will be releasing a weekly build for the time being.
Downloads here are and will always be untouched Utacka PA builds compiled from his source at Github. Nothing added, nothing subtracted, nothing modified.
Roms here and Roms in the original Utacka ParanoidAndroid thread are identical, you can download and flash any of them, and you'll be getting the same Utacka PA experience.
Let us begin.

How to install Utacka ParanoidAndroid Rom.
It doesn't matter which Rom you are coming from, all that matters is the kernel you are on.
If you are running any CM-based kernel (CM9, CM10 or CM10.1)
If you are running any Gingerbread kernel
If you are running Hydracore or HydracoreNirvana
If you are on Franco ICS kernel newer than v3
If you are on Speedmod ICS kernel newer than v3
If you are running PhilZ kernel v3.99 or newer
Code:
1. download ParanoidAndroid Rom and Gapps
2. place them on your SD card
3. reboot into recovery
4. wipe data/factory reset
5. wipe cache and dalvik
6. flash the Rom
7. flash Gapps
8. reboot
If you are on any PhilZ kernel older than v3.99
Code:
1. download any CM10 kernel from Kernel Repository
2. download ParanoidAndroid Rom and Gapps
3. place all three files on your SD card
4. reboot into recovery
5. flash the CM10 kernel first
6. stay in recovery, go to advanced/reboot recovery
7. wipe data/factory reset
5. wipe cache and dalvik
6. flash the Rom
7. flash Gapps
8. reboot
Kernel Repository is here.
If you are running a kernel not mentioned above, go here and read extra carefully before doing anything.
If you are already on any previous Utacka ParanoidAndroid 2.56 build
Code:
1. download the new build and Gapps
2. put it onto your SD card
3. reboot into recovery
4. wipe cache and dalvik
5. flash the Rom
6. flash Gapps
7. reboot

A final word: please consider donating Utacka for all the tremendous work he has done and is still doing to make all our Notes faster, smoother and better looking.
Do not, I repeat, do not donate to me. What you are enjoying here is Utacka's work, not mine. I just deliver his craftsmanship to you, that's all.
A word of caution to everyone:
This thread will not be allowed to degenrate into a post garbage that has nearly driven Utacka away.
Ask for 4.2.1 ETA, you will be reported.
Ask "How I flush this...?", you will be reported.
Demand features....you guessed it, you will be reported.
Discuss Thor kernel/recovery, you will be reported.
Complain about problems without submitting a logcat/last_kmsg, you will be reported.
Report issues that have already been reported and discussed ad nauseam, you will be reported.
Ask for S-apps to be included in the Rom, you will be reported.

Reserved for FAQ - frequent annoying quastions™
You're new to Paranoid Android or it has been a long time since you last flashed PA?
Then, feel free to take the quick and guided tour, which will take only 2 minutes.
Go into settings > PA settings and hit the Help tab.
There you'll find the guided tour and the different layout possibilities well explained.
You're invited to replicate the layout/density feature at best with YouTube, as it has the upmost possible combinations.
Furthermore, you'll find all members of the PA team, including molesarecoming and D4rkn3Ssys, the founders of PA.
General, for some members important, question about this version by utacka and the PA Version by imilka?
Utacka PA = Nightly basis (unofficial PA way)
imilka PA = PA version bumps (official PA way)
That's it, no other difference at all.
Nightly basis signifies that you can flash utacka's version on a daily basis, because as soon as CM10 (=the base) changes, utacka updates as well. If you can cope with this method of flashing on a daily basis, then this is your place. If this means too much hassle for you to keep up, then you should reconsider your choice and probably go for imilka's version.
Some FAQ
Screenshot not working:
Either the native functionality (Volume down + Power button) or long press power button and then choose "Screenshot".
If the latter is not available yet, activate it in System settings > System > Power
I seem to have no status bar (notification bar)
Long press power and click "Expanded Desktop".
Always wondered, what this is useful for? Just use phone layout and navigation bar at the same time and choose Camera. You'll see 3 little dots (the navigation bar symbols) shining through. You can avoid it by this function.
Other terms of use: video playing or within games, where notification bar won't disappear automatically.
My Google account is lost and play store doesn't work!
You have forgotten to flash GApps as well.
Flash ROM
Flash GApps
That's the standard procedure after updating PA version...even on a nightly (daily) basis!
RIL Crashes
Media Scanner
I do really want to use Inverted GApps -> personally, I use JusTun Beans inverted GApps
Some rules
1. I'm going to post my question without doing a search. Fine, but you'll just get made fun of, or infracted by one of the mods who use this mod. Searching is the first rule of XDA. "1. Search before posting. Use one of our search functions before posting, whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news."
Some hints for XDA-app or tapatalk Users: the search function within the app is very limited!
If you really want to search, just hit on any post and then the menu button in order to choose web view. Then, within the browser of your choice, you can easily do the search you want. There is the possibility called "Search this thread"...
2. People have a bad attitude in this thread. You broke rule #1, didn't you?
3. Do I really have to do a full wipe while coming from another ROM? No one is going to stand over your shoulder and make sure you do, but don't expect help if you don't.
4. My recovery freezes, gives me some other weird error (Status 7, or similar)
Redownload ROM (GAPPS) and flash again as you have encountered maybe a bad download.
Checking MD5 helps.
Tool to check MD5 is e.g. Solid Explorer Beta2

Q: Where are S-apps (Note, Memo, Planner etc)?
A: They require TouchWiz framework to work, so you will not find them here. There are alternatives to
S-apps in Playstore.

Q: Recovery aborts flashing Rom or Gapps or kernel and displays error code "status 7"?
A: You most probably have a bad download. Redownload Rom/Gapps/kernel, check MD5 and try again.
_________________________________________
Q: Flash went through OK, but now I can't sync calendar/contacts/Gmail, there's no option to setup my
Google account, Playstore won't start, where is my Picassa...?
A: You either forgot to flash Gapps, or had a bad Gapps zip (if you had flashed it).

Q: Playstore says I have no apps, and I purchased them ages ago, or claims that my apps are incompatible
with the Note...?
A: Go here to find the solution to your problems.

Q: Can I flash some other kernel on this Rom?
A: You can, but if something goes wrong don't post your problems here. Go to the kernel thread instead.
_________________________________________
Q: A system app keeps FCing. What can I do?
A: Go to Settings/apps and clear the app's cache and data, reboot. If that doesn't help, try to dirty reflash the Rom (just wipe cache and dalvik).
_________________________________________
Q: Gallery only shows grey squares, but no pictures, wth?!
A: Clear cache of gallery and let the media scanning process run again. That should do it!

Q: Where do I find new themes?
A: Either in PlayStore or here is a thread dedicated to CM10/AOKP themes

Mentioning it twice won't hurt anybody.
How about posting all the idiotic comments and 'please help me's in the old thread? That should keep this one relatively clean.
One question about Goo Manager: will your compilations appear as goo updates of Utacka's builds? Actually I'd rather not as I find goo notifications unnecessary.
Btw, how many roms are you currently building ? You're going to fry your Note if you keep flashing like that!

Have I been that unclear in the OP? What you're flashing here is Utacka's ParanoidAndroid.
The only difference is that it's been compiled on a different PC.
Thanx to Utacka, Chas and AA :good: Even if I will stick with Asylum, I really appreciate your effort. Best luck with your project, and may this fred never see a "Hap, Status 7 !!111!!!1!" quastion :fingers-crossed:

Very well ..However if moderators educate the users about how to obtain logcat in an easy way and submit in the OP, This will help novice to report the problems in a meaningful manner .

ok so heres what i got. i booted into recovery (currently using TWRP) wiped dalvik, cache and system. first go around i flashed gapps and rom together.flash seemed to work as it normally does but did not get past boot animation. second attempt i wiped dalvik, cache and system and flashed just the rom no gapps and made it to the boot animation and then i started boot looping. so my question is....in your op u say to use CWM specifically so would me using TWRP be causing the issue of the rom not booting?

That is a good question but I don't think it would cause the problem. If you will, for testing, go ahead and get CWM since OP said to use. Let me know if you need a link.
Steps for flashing should go as follows so that testers all use same procedure in same order.
Put ROM and gapps on ext SD card
boot to CWM
wipe cache
wipe dalvik cache
reset factory data
flash ROM
reboot
test as much as you can 3g, 4g, wifi... note any problems
if you have problems, go to menu>system settings>backup & reset>Factory data reset
Test the problems again and note results
boot to CWM
wipe cache
wipe dalvik cache
flash gapps
reboot and go through setup
test as before... as much as you can and note any problems
Note that it will take longer to reboot after flashing as it will rebuild dalvik/cache, etc. so git it plenty of time at first boots.
Post ALL results, good. bad, ugly, pretty,... in here so Garwynn can know what works and doesn't. Be as detailed as possible.
THANK YOU FOR HELPING
ok actually i figured it out and this will flash through TWRP but it is necessary to wipe data as well when coming from a differant rom. seems that if you dont it will hang on the boot animation and not go any further. i dont know how this will affect the "dirty" flash in the future for new updates. followed procedure and so far it looks good.will report back when i have had a chance to test more.

THANK YOU FOR HELPING TEST... & Thanks for the update, Remember that in general, it is standard recommendations, that EVERY time you go from one ROM to another, you need to wipe DATA. I stated that in the flash instructions. As far as a DIRTY flash, it is "usually" ok if the update is of the same minor of the current ROM (X.0.1 to X.0.5). But when a ROM goes to a major update from one ver to a whole ver, ( 7.x.x to 8.x.x ) a DIRTY flash isn't recommended. That's not to say you absolutely can't DIRTY flash, just much more likely you will encounter problems and then want to "blame" it on the ROM update when in fact it is the result of the DIRTY flash not the ROM.
This is not to say you have or will, but it needs to be clear ... PLEASE do NOT DIRTY flash while testing these builds for garwynn ! ! ! We are trying to eliminate any outside causes of issues. A CLEAN flash will insure that we report errors specific to that build in testing... again, PLEASE DO NOT DIRTY FLASH.

understood it was one of those DUH moments lol. i was wiping system and not wiping data with it and then sitting back wondering why it wasnt working. :banghead:
ok so i have been running solid for the entire morning and i have to say that this is ready to at lease be in beta stages. heres what i have done:
flashed rom only
made 5 test calls out and received 5 calls (very minor echo on 2 of the calls) but barely noticable
sent 3 sms and received 3 sms
sent 3 mms and received 3 mms
tested data 3 times toggling mobile data after each connect
got gps lock 4 out of 5 times
tested front facing camera 3 pics
tested regular camera 3 pics
tested video 25 seconds
powered device on and back off again 3 times
reset device 3 times
made changes to pretty much everything i can think of in rom controls
connected to wifi 3 times
connected to 3 seperate bluetooth devices
flashed gapps
tested all of the above again
this time no echo on calls
gps locked every time-5 times
i dont have 4g in my area to test
basically the only issue i have run into was the gps not locking once and then the minor call echo....other than that this rom is buttery smooth and full of goodness great work!!
At the moment I'm moving everything back to the primary build box. Next build will be promoted to Beta.
Side note: I was building on a Q9400, 8GB RAM and took 2 hours on a clean build.
Did it on the primary build box - a laptop Core i5 (dual core, multi-threaded) and it still cut the build time in half.
Just a heads up.....after receiving a few more calls I have noticed that upon trying to answer the screen will sometimes not respond to touch and must be toggled in order to register. Its annoying at worst not a deal breaker but if I can replicate the issue again I'll pull a logcat for ya
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app
so i have not had the issue with the screen being unresponsive again and i've been on my phone all day taking and making calls so imma write that off as just being a rom settling in issue. however all this morning when i receive an mms msg in stead of showing me the picture i am diverted to an empty text as if i were creating a new one. i can send them just fine as i have done a bit more testing since the issue arose and now im also unable to get a gps lock as well. everything else seems to still be working normally
after a couple hours test i find that calls in and out work but volume on both ends is terribly low. wifi unsecured and usb tether works on usb2.0 my 3.0 port would only pop up with select network type after i unplug it. bluetooth wouldn't connect. bluetooth headset works with calls with the very low volume as well and media regular volume. although it took a couple tries to connect but it did. mms is no good would receive but not dl. could send tho. gps works good 10/18 with gps status. maps said it was within 20 meters but if i leave it on i bet it gets better. no lte. of all my apps i restored with tb only beautiful widgets doesn't access internet or gps. re-downloaded bw and still no access. theme chooser works. so far everything seems stable and responsive. im going to continue running it see what happens
panorama camera display in landscape is sideways and smaller but it still takes the pic right

after a couple hours test i find that calls in and out work but volume on both ends is terribly low. wifi unsecured and usb tether works on usb2.0 my 3.0 port would only pop up with select network type after i unplug it. bluetooth wouldn't connect. bluetooth headset works with calls with the very low volume as well and media regular volume. although it took a couple tries to connect but it did. mms is no good would receive but not dl. could send tho. gps works good 10/18 with gps status. maps said it was within 20 meters but if i leave it on i bet it gets better. no lte. of all my apps i restored with tb only beautiful widgets doesn't access internet or gps. re-downloaded bw and still no access. theme chooser works. so far everything seems stable and responsive. im going to continue running it see what happens
panorama camera display in landscape is sideways and smaller but it still takes the pic right

Can we use the 0301 Gapps?
Must use 4.3 gapps. Google them, they're out there.
thats what I thought..I have the PA gaaps. which are 4.3, so I will try them
thanks
EDIT: found the non pa gapps, so gonna use them..thanks again!
Thanks for the build.
One question: Is the source in your 10.2 branch current? I see last update 9 days ago and I'd like to fork it for my own try.

Anyone having any luck with this rom? I downloaded it twice, clean install, etc... Everything force closes for me. Can't even type because the keyboard FC, the back button won't work, the top bar is all out of whack.
works perfectly for me..make sure you use 4.3 gaaps, and fully factory wipe before flashing

Yup, full wipe and PA 4.3 gaaps. Maybe I'll give it another go in a bit. I've got a good set up going as is, so even if I can't get it working it's not a huge deal.
dont use PA gapps, use plain 4.3 gaaps..

Tried with no gapps and had no luck. Maybe just a bad download, although I did d/l twice.
edit - downloaded the rom one more time and installed the PA 4.3 gapps and all is well. Third time was the charm.

[ROM][P75x0/p4&p4wifi][KK4.4]Nameless ROM (23-Mar-2014) BETA

Earlier, I have been compiling several ROMs for the galaxy tab (P7510/p4wifi) based on KitKat 4.4. After my experience with Omni was not that bad, I decided to move over to Nameless ROM, where I have become a core member of the team: http://nameless-rom.org/.
Changelog of 23-Mar-2014
-Many upstream updates from nameless & CM
-Updates to CustomLauncher (I have had no more FC's)
It features the Mackay kernel (it is a kernel named ICS_2014, because I worked on this kernel for stock ICS and CM9 as well). The zram code has been optimized (based on google advice for low-RAM devices) and is enabled by default. I also improved the OC code and changed voltages.
First installation:
-Boot into recovery
-Factory reset
-Wipe system partition
-Install ROM
-Reboot system (there sometimes are bootloops if gapps is flashed directly on top of the ROM without first booting the ROM)
-Reboot recovery
-Install gapps (you should use a package specifically for KK4.4 and with the old-fashioned updater-script! - don't worry if you install an outdated gapps packages with the correct updater-script, as long as it is for KK4.4 the apps in the gapps package will be automatically updated -> only small gapps packages fit, e.g. banks core of pa 0-day gapps mini)
-Reboot system
-> some people report issues (e.g. bootloop or crashing gapps) if they flash ROM & gapps in a row after fully wiping the tablet. In that case, wipe again, flash ROM, boot the tab, reboot to recovery, and then gapps.
-> if coming from stock ROM, a factory reset may wipe you entire /data partition, so you loose you sdcard contents as well (I think this only happens with CWM, but I'm not sure)
-> in CWM "wipe system partition" can be found under mounts, and is called "format /system"
->If you get the message 'This package is for "p4" devices this is a "GT-P7500"' (or something likewise) update to a recent CWM or TWRP
Update installation (Nameless -> Nameless):
-Boot into recovery
-Install ROM
-Reboot system
You can download any gapps packages for kitkat that you like, but one that many have used successfullyis PA 0 day gapps:

What does NOT work?
-There are graphical glitches. Although they mainly have been solved there seem to be some remaining issues with hwcomposer that may crash the tab.
-HD movies (in e.g. youtube) may stutter
Smoothness advice:
Go to performance settings:
-Overclock CPU (Do this at your own risk!)
-Keep governor on Interactive
Go to developer settings:
-Activate "Force GPU rendering"
-Active "Disble HW-overlays"
-Set background process limit to 4 processes
(if performance/developer options are not yet shown, go to settings>about and press build number 7 times)
-> Thanks to all forum members contributing to this list
-> Do it at your own risk!
-> Don't complain about limited battery life (ROW+interactive+1000MHz leads to better battery life for sure)
Some other tips:
-For improvement of sound quality, you can use Viper4Android
-For more volume only, SpeakerBoost is earier to use
-For netflix, head over here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49208063&postcount=445
-To be able to use Flash player, use a browser that doesn't use the kitkat browser engine (e.g. firefox can be used). Download flash player from adobe website (thanks to AAccount for finding out!).
- If you can't see your internal SD on PC: Go to Settings -> Storage -> 3 dot menu -> tick MTP.
Great stuff...downloading now. Thanks a million and bless you.:beer::thumbup:

I fully wiped coming to nameless. Good moment to clean out my mess anyway

TeamDouche, and all other coders who contributed to CyanogenMod.
I noticed that alot of sprint users were anxious about not having any updates in awhile and figured I could do this for them. I
understand alot of people prefer pure cyanogenmod (like myself), especially given the support of some very nice kernels which often dont
work on other cyanogenmod based, but modified roms. Ive been doing my own nightlies for my klte varient and figured it wouldnt hurt to
help a few others out who arent getting the updates like fingerprints etc!!!!

I've only posted the build in the second post. Seems the person speaking of another build was regarding a different variant. My androidfilehost account has been approved so I should have a updated build soon. A lot of people were using this build although one person had issues with play store services from gapps. As far as I know open gapps is recommend but I do not own device to test so when everyone lets me know which works I'll share it in first post.

got it thanks
I tried flashing the rom but I am unable to finish setup due to Google Play Store stopping. I saw in the other thread that you were having issues compiling newer builds, Would it be possible for you to do an older one (0325 specifically?)
FYI I dirty flashed over 0216 and it was working fine but I could not get the fingerprint reader to work. I tried a completely clean install (initially with the 1227 gapps from the other thread, OpenGApps stock, micro, nano, and pico) and ran into the Play Store has stopped issue. The initial CM setup gets just past "Enable WiFi" and it tries to check for app updates and will not go further.
My understanding as of now is that all the variant recent nightlies broke gapps and has now been fixed. There's a recent commit regarding sprint that I believe is breaking the build . I haven't had enough time to look into it but will continue to try sync & builds. As far as dirty flash w no fingerprints, I dirty flashed and mine didn't work either. I went to settings, apps and cleared cache on each app, rebooted and its ran fine since. The app cache doesn't get wiped in the clear cache & dalvik steps, its not stored on the cache partition. I tend to do it manually every dirty flash. I'm watching to see if the commit is flagged or reverted due to breaking other sprint builds.

Also thanks for letting me know it gets stuck at app updates on setup. The sprint commit regarded the radio ril files, perhaps it simply can't connect.

Which app caches did you clear for it to start working? I set it up under lock screen. When I try to unlock I get one "Not Recognized!" error then it just fails to work (swipe just makes the lockscreen bounce) until I unlock and relock.
I am not super worried about the fingerprint reader so no matter either way. Thanks for everything! Feel free to let me know if you need any more information/testing.
I'm syncing sources now to attempt to compile again tonight, hope it works! I basically just go down the list and clear cache to most system items & apps I use frequently.

There is a function in Titanium backup to clear cache for all user and system apps. I have not used it for any MM roms, but have had good luck with it in the past.
Thanks, I actually found that and tried it but it didn't help.
Well the latest sources build failed again. I'm not sure they host previous dated sources either. I'm just leaving a funeral now but I'll try to take a look at commits from the 26th build that was fine til the 28th I believe was the next one I tried that broke. I'll attempt the build again and review the errors. If I can find it I'll build WO that commit.

Works perfectly with Open GApps micro, sent a small donation much appreciated for the Sprint builds. It's becoming tougher to find a vanilla build of CM13 for Sprint.

Glad to hear its working well for everyone and thank you so much for the donations! I'll use any donations to go toward adding some more ram to my system! I use my PC as a media center and a virtual box in windows 10 with everything else running chews up some resources! I do not own the device so I can't really take the "maintainer" status. I will however ensure you updates from time to time just not a everyday thing. I'm going to look into a few other klte variants as well and may add them to this thread.
