[Q] Htc One Sense - get rid of lock screen? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just got my HTC One. I do not want to do anything that voids warranty for the next month or so...just in case a hardware fault shows itself.
The process of hitting the power button on the top of the phone and then unlocking via swiping from the bottom of the screen is a pain.
Is there a tried and tested way to skip one of these steps for HTC One stock sense?
I found this gravity app; https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.plexnor.gravityscreenofffree
and awesome on and off: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=grandmaster.awesomeonoff
On my S2 when I was still on Gingerbread I used 'No- lock'
and recommendations or compatibility issues? ie. Battery drain

Sense 5 had no screen lock option but removed from sense5.5

[Q] Slide keyboard open to unlock?

The first thing i noticed from moving to the Droid 3 from my previous phone (Nokia N900), is that it doesn't unlock the screen when sliding the keyboard open.
So when i slide open my keyboard, i still have to do the 'slide to unlock' manually. This is not very natural to me, but if that's what Motorola decided, what can i do about it?
Is there some sort of tweak or mod possible for this, or is this something that cannot be changed? When i googled it, most topics are bout the Milestone series phones (this is the only qwerty android phone that behaves like this?). They suggested the software signal for 'slide keyboard open' is the same as 'press the screen on button', so if you want to disable the unlock menu here, it has to be disabled altogether.
Is this true?
I also come from a N900, I found the exact same thing frustrating, there is an app which disables lock-screens all together so you can also immediately unlock by pressing the power button.
App called "No Lock"
It does seem the case, yes, however there is an app which only turns lock screens off when the front proximity sensor is clear, so theoretically it shouldn't power button unlock when it is in your pocket - this is a paid app with a trial version.
App called "Auto Unlock"
If you're willing to pay for an app, check out widget locker on sale at Amazon. It has that option as well as some nifty extra features. I'm at the point now where my phone is more useful locked than unlocked lol

I don't think the keyboard opening sends the same signal as the power button.
When you press the power button the lock screen comes on in portrait regardless of how you are holding the phone. When you open the keyboard the lock screen comes on in landscape. So the phone knows the difference between the two.
BUMP
Is there any free app that will do this?
I'd like it to unlock when sliding open and to lock when i close it... but still be able to lock/unlock with the power button when I'm not using the keyboard
Thanks

I had an n900 too previously, but also an Xperia Mini pro and a desire Z, only the Motorola phones are showing that stupid behavior.
BTW as I wrote elsewhere, widgetlocker can fix this, but is not free.

yes, this.
I can't believe there's not a simple free app that fixes it. I don't mind spending €1,50 but I'd rather not
Can you keep the stock unlocker with widgetlocker?
how does widget locker fix this? i have it but dont see anyway to unlock the screen by opening the keyboard.

I just bought it and enabled "slide to unlock" but it doesn't work
I restarted my phone and it works 1 in 10 times.. and when it does work there's a 2 seconds delay..(edit make that 5 seconds this is with the screen off)
I even root mode and tried disable the default lock screen.
I think I just wasted €1.50
You must have some conflicting SW, I'm using it on the D3 and the D2g and works perfectly, used it on the Desire Z and worked perfectly too.
And consider that I have heavily customized it with 6 sliders to access directly the main functions w/o unlocking the phone.

I haven't installed any other locking software!
It works fine if I first click button so the screen goes on, then slide-out.
However when I slide from screen-off it takes 5 seconds for the screen to go on. (btw sometimes it does go instantly, but this is rare)
It takes a longer time only if you close and reopen it quickly.
Try to close the phone, wait five or six seconds and then open it.
That limit is described well on the SW instructions, and theres also a 5 seconds fix on the options (I havent tried it)

Yes but root option should fix it but it does not.
Why the hell would anyone use the slider option if it takes 5 seconds to show the screen? I wanted this program so that I don't have to press a button before unlocking... now I still have to do that
Waiting some time then opening it doesn't help

Why in the hell, in the normal usage, one would open the slider in less than 5 second after closing it ?

What? where did I say I did this?
When I get my phone out of my pocket (screen is off) and I open my keyboard, it takes 5 seconds for something to happen.

I said that. If you close and reopen the phone quickly you can expect a delay, but not in normal condition.
I've just tested it with the verizon rom (I flashed it back to test the cyanogen), and while slower than the xt883 (all the rom is slower) surely doesn't take 5 seconds to unlock the screen.

[Q] Vivid charging and screen control does not work

I have just updated to ICS (locked and not rooted at this time).
When I plug in the charger all of the controls act as if I am touching some other part of the screen! Even the lock screen is goofy. I cannot pull an icon into the ring. It moves but will not go all the way?!
Any ideas??
the phone works this way in Charge Only, if it is in Sync or if only a charger is connected . . . . Debug is on.
That's strange, I can't speak for locked and rooted as I am unlocked and rooted but back when I was on 2.3 I installed a app from the market that caused me to lose multi touch. I believe it was a launcher I installed that caused the issue. I would check your apps.

Can't reach the Power button - any other way to wake screen?

Loving my HTC One, but I have such small hands that I can hardly reach the Power button to wake it up after it goes to sleep!
Does anyone know of an app where I can use the Volume button instead?
Thanks in advance.
Only way to possibly assign the sleep/wake function to the volume buttons would mean having to be rooted. I don't know if anyone's made that change yet though, it might just require editing a single file. Don't have any experience with This myself so not 100%. Just know it requires root.

After a quick search online I've discovered Auto Screen On in the Play Store, which lets me double tap the proximity sensor (left of top speaker) to wake it up.
Works perfectly but an app using the Volume button would be much better.
With this app your screen has to be awake all the time and will drain your battery i think.
On TrickDroid v2.0.0 u can choose VolWake in Aroma

Moved your thread to the proper section for you. Please remember to post only in the correct sections. Thanks.
I've heard of some app for a nexus 4 that allows you to just swipe the screen and it turns on. Not sure what it was called, but you get the concept.
Good job I have big hands really because this nor generally using the phone is an issue due to its size.

I'm assuming sweep2wake or swipe2wake will eventually be implemented. It's basically swiping left to right on the capacitive buttons to wake the phone.
The One X had it, but it was a bit buggy when I used it in terms of it not working if the phone was asleep for a long time. I got rid of my One X a while ago though so idk how the feature works now and if they figured it all out., but I expect it to get implemented on the HTC One eventually.
The proximity sensor isn't a bad idea, jailbroken iPhone 5 etc...have the always on proximity where if you cover the proximity it'll turn the screen off and eventually lock the phone after a while. So you can put it in your pocket and it will turn the display off, bring it out of pocket and it comes on without needing to slide to unlock or anything. It's good if your messaging constantly.

iirc showp1984 said he's getting a htc one, and see oz did too so hopefully one of them will bring sweep to wake Zarboz did an excellent job on the incredible s and he doesn't even have the device
Sweep to wake generally doesn't work sometimes in deep sleep. I use vol wake and the. Sweep to go to sleep on my incredible s now s2w is actually the greatest thing ever
MOD EDIT: Removed

My fiance has this phone, and she asked me the same thing. Most android phones seem to use power and volume down for a screenshot, which will take a screenshot and send a notification to the sender of the snap. However, on the M7, it's power and home. Using this combo while viewing a snap just turns the phone off. It appears for the M8, HTC changed to use power and volume down, but even though the M7 and M8 both run sense 6 and 4.4, they have different screenshot methods (likely because the home button on the M8 is on screen).

[Q] Touch screen issues

Hi all. I need your assistance with my HTC one M7. It is running andriod version 4.3, htc sense 5.5, software number 3.62.531.1, htc sdk api level 5.65.
The problem i have is that the section of the screen just below the small icons at the very top ( battery status , wifi, signal, etc..) does not appear to be working when the phone is vertical. I can pull down the menu and all other parts of the screen work ok. When i turn the phone horizontal all section of the screen works perfectly...even those that do not work when the phone is vertical. The only app that seems to work full vertical is the camera...i have access to all buttons.
In vertical position when i open any of my web browsers i am unable to type in the URL...when i hit that section of the screen nothing happens. If i turn the phone horizontal it works! This is basically happening to all my apps. That little section of screen just not working. I though the phone may have been physically damaged but the camera works ok....i am able to use all buttons in vertical position. I tried resetting the touch calibration that did not help.
Please let me know if you can help me with this.

dial *#*#3424#*#* and do the touch screen test (line drawing test) If you can see that a part of the screen isn't responsive then its a bad digitizer and will need to be replaced.
Hi. Thanks much for the tip. I did the test and that part of the screen did not work. I guess its a physical issue. Do you know if it can be fixed or is the phone gone for good? If it can be fixed does it make sense to try to fix it or just replace the phone? I appreciate your advice.

Best Buy was clearing out their M7 stock for $149 .. their all over ebay now under $200 ..that should be cheaper than a screen replacement unless you still have a warranty
Thanks much.
