Hi guys! Today it happened...my one dropped in the floor by si de and the screen cracked from a si de to the other...
The touchscreen still works, but...I'm about to cry everytime I look at it...
I think I'm gonna replace it!...has anyone sent the phone for the touchscreen? How much was the damage? Or you suggest to repair in private, buying the item by myself? I read that is very hard to replace parte in this phone...I don't really trust privates...and, actually I don't trust neither Htc...I sent a one x for a screen issue and they gave it back to me with a flickering screen...
So what's your suggest?
a few folks on another forum have said htc will replace screen for 180.00. maybe you can get qoute via chat, otherwise a call will get you the price.

ook I went to the official assistence...they said that is a single piece (glass and screen) and it costs...160€...
damn, is pretty much! I saw the digitizer only, but I think is too hard to replace, so they just pull out the entire screen piece and replace it easily
Hi,
My friend has tried himself, it will be cheap. However you need order back cover aswell. Search on eBay you back cover and one piece digitized and LCD. It cost him around $150.
Check out this item I found on eBay: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=350863317884

Looking for instructions or someone who has experienced taking an XDA apart in order to replace the touch-screen.
replacement screen
replacing the screen is a fairly easy job. You just remove the back screws, (you might need a small hex shaped screw driver) and prize appart. There are clips around the inside of the outer casing holding them together, then there are 2 small black screws on the main PCB. removing this will expose the back of the screen. Once you have done that you remove the four screws at the top and bottom of the screen, and its away. You will need to remove 3 ribbon cables that attach the screen to the main PCB, but other than that, job done.
Problem i have is i don't know where to get a replacement screen from, cos i smashed mine. If you find out, let me know.

Many different PDA screens, but I did not find XDA screens on it...
OH YES THEY DO!! trust me, ask them via email. Don't know why its not listed though I never did ask...
Price
And what did you had to pay for the xda screen?
Sceen
I am about to order one, I just recieved an e-mail from them.
They are 55 EUR posted to you.
I paid £40.inc vat & p&p.
It will ofcourse be cheaper to send within the UK, than to Norway...
Yeah! well we gotta have some benefits to livin' on an Island!!!
Hey, Montanna.
Was it as easy to put together as it was to take apart.
My XDA is in pieceses now, and I'm a litle worried
Everything will be fine, I know. But you get attached to the little guy
If I ever got to name a pda I'd call it Gizmo. U know, from Gremlins.
That would be a great theme btw...
Waddid ya attack the baby for?? hope yer modifying it, as for me it was easy for me to change the touchscreen but I am a tech-head anyway and luv my xda so any problems I tend ta sort immediately
another question
Is it the whole screen you ordered, or the touch screen or the lcd screen?
site seems bit tacky? are the legit? :?
Yes, they are legit...
Yes they are legit. They delivered very fast, and just what they promised.
But I ****ed up...
Stefan, that is something I didn't think of before I placed the order.
I needed the LCD, but I thought I only had to replace the screen. I thought “the screen” was one unit.
I didn’t read the mails I got from http://pdascreens.co.uk properly. They clearly said that they sell touch panels and nothing else.
Now I have 2 working touch panels and a broken LCD screen.
I bought my XDA on EBay, that is why I had to repair the thing myself. I am now thinking about selling it as “with broken screen” if anyone is interested…
I’ll never purchase anything this expensive on EBay again. Had I bought it from a store would this be the store’s problem, not mine.
that sucks
Damn, that sucks.
My lcd brooke when I fell and fell on my xda
I was very glad to read that they sold screens for 55 euro, to bad.
I also read that someone sent his xda to o2 for repair, and he had to pay 70 english pounds for a new screen and a new outer case.
Now I have sent mine for repair and got a letter from o2,
the costs wil be 289 euro. Woooooooooooow,
that was not what I was thinking about.
But I need the little thing and buing a new one is 599 euro so thats more than twice the repairing price.
I don't know what you paid for yours, but mayby O2 wants to repair yours to.
Stefan
Before you give up try contacting PDA screens international on www.palmscreens.com, and ask them VIA EMAIL if they know where you can get a 'LCM' for the XDA, they might be able to help you with advice on how to get your hands on the actual screens (LCM's) but you will have to be very specific as to whether is the its the complete screen or the touchscreen thats broken!!! in my case it was the touchscreen DON'T KNOW IF THEY REALLY CAN HELP BUT ITS A START AND IF THEY DON'T, WITH ENOUGH PEOPLE CONTACTING THEM ABOUT THE SAME THING......YA NEVER KNOW!!!!! I'm a big believer in people power so even if you've heard they don't, don't just stop there
Hello. I'm new here. But i do have some tips about replacing the Wallaby screen. www.Ipaqrepair.com is now repairing xda screens and digitizers in the US. Mine is being repaired at this moment. The only reason I don't have a warranty is i have a pre-production SX56 release. Anywhoo I thought some people in the US would like to know.
E-MAN
P.S. Ipaqrepair is changing it's name to PDAsmart.com at the end of the month and thats where they'll list it.
Removing the touch screen from the rest of the screen
I just succeeded in transplanting a touch screen from one xda to another. I almost gave up because it seemed the touch screen is glued to the rest of the screen. Now that does seem to be true but the glue isn't that strong ) Here's how I did it:
- Remove the screen module from the device
- On the top there's a yellow sticker, remove it
- Get a knife between any of the screen holders (where the four screws go) and pry the two pieces apart. You'll notice some strange sounds, this is just the glue letting go.
- You may have to use a knife to push the latches on three sides (all exept the side where the cables are) down.
- Only the bottom plate comes off and not the touch screen glass as I expected.
Good luck!
I'll have my digital camera back in a couple of weeks, if anyone is interested I can make some pictures of the process.
Hi

am i the only one who broke this battery hinge? =(
I broke mine.. I also had a problem with my touchscreen, so in sent it in for repair. Both parts were replaced.

You could try,

Why are back and front cover listed for Legend since its a unibody phone? -htcrepairparts
Hello,
I have the same problem too.
German Ebay helped me: German Ebay -> search for "HTC Legend Cover Gehäuse Rück" (Sorry, I am not allowed to post a link)
You get whoole middle part with hinge, which was broken.
Maybe you can get same part also in other countries or Chine.
I'm going to drag this thread up.
Did anyone go about replacing it? If so did you do it the slow and painful way (Taking the whole phone apart and replacing the whole chassis) or the quick, but risky way (just taking the hinge off the part and installing that to the original chassis, risk of breaking it though :\)
I'd really appreciate if you could let me know

Sorry about telling you that, but for that you need a new mainboard.
My red button is starting to feel soft or spongy. It doesn't "click" down like the other buttons when I press it. Which part do I need?

I need to replace my digitizer. It is almost dead. Just doing the power button trick where you keep hitting that red button until touch starts working again.
Anyone else doing that?
Well I've seen tutorials everywhere like on YouTube by it is so damn complicated. I'm sure I'm going to break it for good. Im using button Savior and the last thing I wanted to do is press that red button! I wish there is a power softkey somewhere.

Hi,
I have an euro HD2 with the insert-junction digitizer. But I need to replace both LCD and digitizer.
Can I buy this :
http://www.ebay.com/itm/replacement...6767&pid=100009&prg=1015&rk=5&#ht_1107wt_1396
even if it's a welded-junction digitizer on the assembly ??

Yes, this one have dgitizer and dysplay already assembly. Yes you can buy and its a good choice
I would like to do a review of the Digitizer I bought from the link the OP gave.
The digitizer itself is good and responsive, but the screen is not so high quality. It appears to be some plastic, and is not as scratch resistant as the original gorilla glass (could be easily fixed with 99c ebay screen protector). Good thing is, however, the screen should not shatter as easily as glass.

It's not that bad, I would recommend it since I've bought one that was worse.. the digitizer was a film (instead of the hard material) and the touchscreen was glitchy...

I dropped my phone on some pretty hard stuff, and it has a big crack now, on the right side of the screen. Everything seems to be working fine, and the touch screen in itself has no issues (it works even on the cracked part of the glass), but the crack is pretty big, and it runs right from top to the bottom of the screen. Any idea how/where I can get it replaced, and how much it might cost?
I though gorilla glass was a lot more tougher :crying:
Thanks!

There are a few screens on ebay for cheap
Can you get it done cheap in a market or something? You can here
Oh, well. Seems like fun!
Did not find anything for the IncS on EBay's Indian site, but I guess I can get it shipped from the States - I found several on that.
But before I try this, I would definitely want to know how much the HTC repair center might charge me for this The LCD is fine, and only the glass (or digitizer - I got that from Mark's youtube link) has to be replaced. There are several on eBay for 35 USD, which is kinda OK, but I do not want to end up with a messed up non-working phone at the end of it
There may be a few nerves taking apart a $400 phone haha
And from my research, the glass and the digitaliser are attached
You could always enquire at HTC by calling them or emailing
That would obviously be the safest way

Yeah, I mailed them, and they asked me to contact their Customer Care over phone, and the person at the CC had no idea what a digitizer is, and he asked me to get in touch with the repair center here, which is closed on Sundays
Will update here tomorrow after a visit to the repair center.

Hi everyone,
I have just started the process to get my HTC One M7 sent off to HTCs UK repair centre because my screen is cracked and the body is scratched.
After I booked it in, I began to read these horror stories about the turnaround time and prices.
Does anyone have an idea of how much it will cost to get the screen and exterior repaired/replaced?
Thanks,
Joe.

Got it back, back was scratched, and power button was recessed. Really hard to press. Talking to HTC about getting it fixed.
