Thanks
Technically, based on the wording of the warranty, any dis-assembly of the phone by a non-authorized person/shop would void the warranty. And since the only part of the X that is "consumer replaceable" is the sim card tray, taking the back off would void the warranty.
Because of the adhesive and other things I've seen in posts and videos on taking the X apart, I I don't think you'd be able to hide it from moto if you changed the back yourself and later put the original stock back on later.

Well if you recently bricked you precious G1, but still have warranty left, then your in luck, I was in such scenario a week ago and gathered up my courage and sent it back to RMA.
Waiting for almost a week, scared that i might get a call from HTC saying something like "hello this is HTC...WTF you haxx0r! pay $$$ and we'll return back your phone back alive"
Well, the story was quiet different, I got a call from them saying that they fixed the phone and will return it in X days at zero cost [well i paid for shipping when i sent it].
Done & Done, it cost me 5$ to get it fixed, instead of 60$+ by buying a broken g1 for Motherboard replacement, voiding the warranty, and the chance to screw up your phone even more.
*disclaimer: this might be considered a dishonest move from the owner's behalf since it was the owner's fault that the phone was broken in the first place, but is up to the owner if he/she wants to say a little white lie and send it to RMA, plus HTC told me the problem [brick] was covered under warranty*
-BTW warranty is voided if: you phone has water damage, physical damage, and/or warranty sticker was damaged or removed. [plus more that i might no be aware of]
How upset am I?
I dropped it outside and bam, both broke. I have purchased replacement parts and they are almost here.
I have a question though. Is there any way to get a warranty on it?
And if there is, since I'm going to be opening it (and voiding the warranty with the sticker being broken) will my warranty still be valid?

I think they offer flat fee repair, about $150 if I remember correctly as for your warranty voided I guess they do not stick those warranty void sticker for nothing...
Well if you open it you will void the warranty...I'm sure it was cheaper for you to buy your own parts then to do a claim on it, but with doing your own repairs you void your warranty.

Yeah i figure that. But my phone had an unlocked bootloader. So I figured it was out of warranty anyway
So my sd card will no longer stay locked down i push it down and it immediately pops back up does anyone know if this is covered by warranty .
Thanks
Your best bet is to unroot, go back to stock, take it down to BN and ask them.
I don't see why it wouldn't be covered. Why do you think that it might not be?
kev
Because it has been discussed that rooting your device will void the warranty. If you return it to stock then you should still be covered under the 1 yr manufacturer's warranty.
Rooting won't cause physical damage to the device.
i un rooted and have clockwork removed i just wasn't sure if it was covered. i was shocked it broke so fast i have only had it for less then a week

Hardware failure like that should be covered under the manufacturer warranty. Did you buy it in-store? You might be able get a return for credit done to get yourself a new NC.
no i got it online so hopefully they will fix/ replace it
If you bought it online, you should still be able to exchange it at the store (provided they have them in-stock).
I had no problem exchanging my nook at the store when it quit powering on.
ok i did call them they said i could ship it back to them. but if i can just return it that would be much faster
I know there was a thread a while ago claiming/asking if the nookcolor had a lot of hardware issues. Mine has been perfect, but I can't imagine how the magnetic enclosure would stop working
Recently my heaphone jack started malfunctioning so I called HTC and they said they would send me a replacement and as long as mine did not have any damage that was out of warranty, it would (basically) be free of charge. My phone should not have any physical damage that is out of warranty but I am wondering if, when they turn it on and see that it has been rooted, if that will fall under non-warranty damage.
Basically, i am about to return my phone for a new one, and am wondering if I should revert the phone back to stock and attempt to re-lock the bootloader or if it would even matter considering the problem I have is with the hardware?
You can't re-lock the bootloader but you can revert to stock. This guide should do the job.
Okay, thanks. I thought I had seen a thread about re-locking the bootloader at some point but I guess it must have been a work in progress or something. Plus, even though I searched before, I searched different terms after posting this and saw that a lot of people have returned their unlocked N1's and had no additional charges, as long as they reverted back to stock. So I guess that's what I will do. Really impressed with HTC's customer service!
The camera lens on my Turbo has completely shattered, and I have no idea how that happened. The more popular phones have cheap lens replacements available, but I can't seem to find one anywhere for the Turbo. I might be needing to send it in to Moto for repair (at $125). I'm wondering if anybody has been able to completely revert back to stock from Mofo root and have the software status show as unmodified. I know that when sending it in they frown upon modified status.
it is impossible to claim modified software had jack to do with the lens. it is too much of a legal liability to claim such baderdash. if the lens failed (physically broke as you say), it is completely detatched from software. mind you, replacing it outside of moto would void your warranty just the same, so perhaps the fact that you couldnt find a part is a good thing.
personally, I have never received a device I sent in for repair back. i think the "repair center" is a mythical creature that is one or two people that decide to send replecement devices.
maybe its just me. back up all your stuff. there is a good chance you wont see that device again. it will always show 0/1 at the bottom of recovery (modified/been modified). again, they cannot claim one had crap to do with the other.
Yes!

It worked for me.
Software modifications are one of the things listed that will void your warranty, however if you are paying $125 for Moto to repair, that is already what they charge for "out of warranty" repairs, so it doesn't matter.
Although it can be changed back to saying "official", the QE counter will still show 0/1, which indicates it is not currently rooted, but was rooted in the past. I just sent back a Turbo with a cracked screen. I will have to see if they decline it.
Of course cracked screens are covered under Verizon, not under Moto warranty, so it all depends on if Verizon will reject it or not

Verizon wouldn't cover my broken screen because I had the Best Buy blue version. I sent mine back to Motorola with a 0/1 counter and they replaced it without fuss. However, they did send me a black ballistic nylon back because they didn't have the blue.
