I don't understand. I once heard someone say that premium Sprint users used to be eligible to upgrade on the year every year instead of 2 years. Didn't they cancel that?
Who is it hurting to let someone upgrade when they please? I don't understand these telecom politics!

Tmobile;s offer to pay my ETF's is very tempting. Only issue is I have to give them my One for the deal and am only offered 106 bones for a phone in superb condition. I cant see selling my one for that price, then pay carrier price for a GSM HTC one . Was eyeing the Nexus 5 but has no wifi calling option with tmobile
I Am getting sick of saying "are you still there". So used to this crap network, even a pause in the convo I auto think connection dropped once again! And the LTE rollout is not all what is cracked up to me. Very disapointed but still holding strong for now, not sure how much longer i will, wife is begging to leave sprint!!
Not a sprint hating post, just a little rant is all. Called sprint to tell them Tmobile would buy me paying the ETA.s could you please drop 2 lines no longer used, they wouldnt budge. SO instead of keeping me with 2 lines, they would rather have tmobile pay etf's for my 4 lines and have me move on i guess.
Sprint still has the program...well sort of. They call it EasyPay rather than OneUp. Basically the same clusterf#ck but with a different name and is tied to the Framily plan. Still a decent deal...if service was better. You can have yearly upgrades by getting the $20 unlimited data option which we have now anyways. No offense to Tmo fans but Tmo is worst than Sprint here where i live...and
via sexy phONE.
So...since I did the One Up thing...in November when it is time for me to "one up", I'm screwed because the plan no longer exists?! This is some real s***t! Lure me in to upgrading once per year, my phone bill goes up by $10/month, and then yank the plan out from under me?
Are current one up subscribers SOL? Or are we grandfathered in?

Ohhhh....that had to be terrifyingly devastating to see. T-Mob really ought to drop that, or at least drop it down to where it's reasonable.
I would say even 2500 is just, I can't even put in to words. I would never use them again and I would take them to court over it. ( I never herd of more than a $1500 phone bill and that was a mistake.) I mean 250 would sting, but you could likely pay that and not do that again. T-mob you are just, can't put in words bad.

If that idiot brother kept texting and using data and was getting the $50, $100, etc warnings like Tmobile said he was getting, it is completely his fault. It wasn't like he just left roaming enabled during his vacation. He actively used the connection without knowing the consequences. I think they should have to pay more than $2500.

Wow...that's a nasty phone bill. About a year and a half ago i got a bill for my landline for over 300 GBP. That's just over 400 USD i think. my cousin and others had been using the phone a lot to make international calls. The bill was for a 3 month period or something like that. Can't remember. But yeah...and i thought that was bad!

Ignoring warnings that you've run up $50, $100, $200, $500 in data roaming is pretty stupid.
O2 sends out warnings at £20, £40, and caps it at 50MB, unless you've agreed more.

It's only recently that UK/Europe has had protection to roaming fees, and it ONLY applies within the EU. In fact, only recently, Watchdog was talking about people who didn't turn off data when abroad and got hit with ridiculous bills.
holy crap. i would think that the carrier would have disconnected the phone way earlier.

I'm not sure if this has been discussed here or not so I will post it. After June, if you want to continue your unlimited data, you will have to pay full price for the phone. If you take the standard subsidized phone, you will lose your unlimited data. It doesn't matter if your on 3g or 4g. If you want to keep your unlimited data, you will be paying $500-600 for your next phone (unless you buy it used) if you don't buy it before the end of the month.
I have already received confirmation email from Verizon verifying this as there has been much debate about the impact this will have. Basically what I'm saying is, if your eligible for and upgrade, get it now, don't wait, especially if you want to keep the peace of mind of not having to watch your data usage.

this is gonna just come back and bit them in the ass, I will wait it out since I can't upgrade until March 13 anyway and I will see what happens but I will not pay full price for a phone, if I need a new one I will just switch providers and get a better deal for being a new customer and have to play that game, just like I do for cable tv

All depends on how you view the situation since on contracts they're making more money off of you since you're paying more than what the phone actually costs usually and have you locked in for 2 years unless you early terminate it.
Went in and talked to a Verizon rep today and they said I average 7gb a month. If I get the the 10gb data plan I will be paying right around the same amount for my monthly payment.

They have 3 year contracts? That is just cruel . As far as i know you'll have to pay your way out or complain like crazy and hope they don't penalize you.
3 year contracts are the norm up here.
HoFo is probably THE place to ask. I believe the Rogers cancel fees are separate for data and voice. Bend over, it's going to hurt twice!
Are you on one of those flex plans, where you can pay off the balance of the phone subsidy and then walk away?
I ported my number from Rogers to Bell with zero issues, and I am on a Corp. Plan as well (Ontario Government, yes I really am a civil servant).
I've been with Bell for a year and have not looked back.
There's quite a few posts on HoFo on how to get discounts etc out of Rogers. If you have a stellar plan and do not mind giving up your #, you can post there and see if anyone will take over your plan.
Thx nd yeah in Canada we have 3 year contracts but the government is looking at getting rid of them

my dad is a pro at this kind of stuff. He just threatens to leave AT&T or cancel some of his lines (his office phones use AT&T) and they give him whatever
You may not be as bad off as you think, Rogers introduced new cancellation fee rules and you should fall into the time frame of it. Basically, if you got a new phone with your plan, the balance of the subsidized price is the cancellation fee, and it goes down as you pay it down. I know some who upgraded to low cost smartphones, then turn around and cancel so their cancellation fee was like $200, instead of the $400-500 it would have been under the old rules.
Honestly your best bet is to just call customer service and ask what your fee to cancel would be, and they'll tell you. Also, depending on what your issue's with them are, you can change to a new plan without renewing; there are better ones available now than a year ago.
The only way I've seen someone get out of a contract without any difficulty was to move to an area where they had no coverage. Since they couldn't continue to provide them service, they were willing to waive the cancellation fee. Not suggesting you need to move to Nunavut or anything, but you could if you really wanted to
Good luck :good:
So I guess this is more of a rant than anything but I am SO damn pissed off about it. I have had Sprint a little over a year and half and unfortunately made the choice to upgrade early so my contract is still quite long at this point. Anyway, I live in Albuquerque New Mexico and am SO fed up with the slow spotty service, not having any data 80% of the time and the other 20% being SUPER slow 3G/!1X. Is there anyway to get out from under the contract without paying the ETF? I mean I drove 10 miles the other night re-sending a text because the service is just that bad in my area. Good friend of mine has T-Mobile and gets a super reliable 25 mbps down with 4G while I'm lucky to get .2 mbps on Sprint's 3g. End rant!

No way of getting out of ETF, trust me I tried. They told me as long as it shows you have coverage where you live and all that there's no way out without the ETF. You could just stick your phone on roam only and torrent a bunch of crap. Eventually they'll get tired of the data you use while roaming and kick you off I believe.

bvang89 is correct. This is what i'm doing, have already gotten the letter in mail saying if roaming doesn't stop they'll drop me. If LTE shows up in my area like it shows on their map, roaming will stop.
We've had terrible service in our area for about a month. First rep told us that it would be fixed in 72 hours. Second rep told us that it was literally just fixed, a week later. Third rep told us that the towers were still being repaired and that they didn't know when it'll get fixed, but they'll take a comparable credit off our bill (10%, real ****ing comparable). Her supervisor told us that we were lying, that our problem had been fixed two days after the initial call, and that our phones had 99% to 100% functional.
Sprint can **** off.
Same crap in Minnesota. I will switch to t mobile after my contact is up. The service may be just as bad,but at least it will be cheaper.
Sent from my HTCONE using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
File a complaint with the BBB, you will get a phone call in about 3-5 days and tell them you are done. They will waive your ETF.
They told me the LTE upgrade will be complete in my area in January. And they offered me a hefty discount on my service until then. I also have it set to review the same case in the end of January and if its not better I'm out of sprint as well.
This is a bad year for anyone to be in sprint but I monitor service trender every day and all across america they truly are working on the towers. Pretty much all of them. Its called network vision. Things will get a lot better for most people and in the meantime you can easily get an airrave device for free. Works great. We have tons of customers that's been getting the device recently due to all the upgrades and say it works perfectly. It won't get you out of your etf but it will give you service in your home. You can also call retentions and they WILL give you credits on your bill because of this. I had several call and one got as much as a $200 credit and all he said was "I'm dropping calls and I rely on this for work". They even overnighted an airave to his home
Retentions: ( 888 ) 273-9460
Airrave: ( 855 ) 405-4098
Both those numbers are direct numbers to a live person. Be nice at first. Explain the situation. If you don't like what you hear at first explain more thoroughly the importance of the matter and if you still can't get your issue resolved then threaten to cancel port to another carrier on your next day off from work.
In the meantime watch or listen to "cell phones and flying" by Louis CK

South florida for the most part has pretty decent LTE service, though I will say that I've tested all over my area (West Palm Beach), and have gotten a high of 31down/13up and a low of 6down/3up while showing LTE service on my device. I will offer one caveat...it's usually hit or miss INSIDE buildings.
I've complained to Sprint when I couldn't get a phone I bought for my daughter to hands free activate properly inside my house due to lack of service. I was asked about an Airrave device, but it seemed more that they were looking to SELL it to me than GIVE it to me. I honestly should demand it, as I routinely drop calls inside my house or have to walk outside to continue talking. I must say that even though the service I get with my discount through my company isn't extreme given the number and type of devices I have and the data we use, I still sometimes feel like I'm not getting a very good value.

VZW is the choice of my ex-wife, hence they are the devil and are to be destroyed or at least avoided at all cost.
ATT screwed me over back when first gen IPhone came out....after 2 months, I decided the device was stupid and sold it to someone for the exact same $300 I paid for it (sucker)....called ATT and cancelled the line....well, they left it open for 5 more months (of course not sending me a bill so I would KNOW this), then sent me to collections for the $300 bucks. Hence, they are the devil and are to be destroyed or at least avoided at all cost.

Does this make sense to anyone? No that is completely wrong. I bought the phone outright and do not have to renew my contract. If that was the case you would get the phone for the renew price of 249.00. Just go on sprint.com and order it there. Takes 2 days to ship to you.
I dont know how the hell sprint hires so uninformed people. Call back and get in touch with a representative that knows and tell them that you want to buy the phone outright and don't want to upgrade your contract. I would check back once u get your phone to see that your contract didn't change on sprint.com because if happened to me once. U can buy it outright, just need to talk to a sprint rep who knows what she/he is doing and what u r asking for.
Telesales is in the Philippines. They are using computer scripts to help customers and it basically turns them into robots.

I had trouble too with my order. I first tried to order online but I kept getting an error and a popup message said to call telesales. The rep tried to tell me that I couldn't buy the phone outright because I have a Framily plan and that I could only make the order in person at a store. I made her connect me to her supervisor. Supervisor said that until the phone is physically available at the Sprint stores, the ONLY way to order it was ONLINE, not in person, or over the phone. I then tried again online and it finally went through. :good:
Unless they changed it they do give you a discount after 1 year but it is only $75 off so that might be what they were doing.
