I fell down recently and got a very small chip on my phone's side panel. Any idea if sony's warranty covers this damage? My phone is 3.5 months old.

No. No offence, but it was your fault that you fell down, not Sony's, sorry. Did it affect the phone in any other way except the look of it?

I know its my fault . I am just asking because when they initially marketed this phone with glass back and aluminium sides, they said they will cover all physical warranty for 6 months and other things for 1 years. Wanted to know if its covered or not
I'm pretty sure warranty doesn't cover that, however they can fix that if you pay for the reparation
they will deny under physical warranty saying damage is too small
No, NO; nO, no warranty for you.
When getting a waterdamage, they will say that the flaps weren't closed and you will argue that they were closed, basically they will try to first blame it on your recklessness.
Accidental Damage Cover in India
If i'm not wrong there is accidental damage cover for 6 months in India. The T&C can be found here: http://www.sony.co.in/productcontent/570382/productcategory/mob-phone
In Australia, no form of physical damage is covered by warranty.
Warranty only covers things where the manufacturer is at fault, and clearly you are at fault not Sony.
Also, that scratch is ... not really noticeable haha, i had a million of those on my (now dead) Z1.

No warranty is only for things that go wrong with your phone that were caused by a manufacturing fault. Ie: touchscreen issues. Dropping the phone, sitting on it or feeding it to your dog would be your fault. That being said if your phone does develop a fault they will more than likely fix the phone anyway, software related issues will be fixed and sent back, simple issues with hardware will also be fixed and the same phone sent back. But if its not cost effective then they'll just swap it for another one. Don't do anything silly though as its always down to them at the end of the day.

I got a white Xperia Z and I send it for repair today.
It has a pink water indicator by the headphone jack, more then 4 dead pixels, back coming a bit loose, flaps with broken rubbers, dots/dusts on my camera an issue multiple times seen in the sonymobile forum, other then that the phone is working totaly fine.
So I wonder if I still got warranty? Since the indicator is pink but there's no water damage...
(a very few dead pixels can't be because of water damage and so do the broken flaps and back that is coming loose I think).
So what can I expect? Do I have to pay for those repairs that have nonthing to do with water damage?
I'll keep this post updated when I know more from the repair center ^^
Feel free to post your thoughts, thanks a lot!
Wow! You hit the jackpot. All the problems in one go I suspect that as soon as they see signs of water ingress, they will blame everything on that and refuse warranty repair

that's great to hear...
my usb charging port turned pink a few months ago... but no internal or external damage whatsoever.
i'm planning to bring it to a sony centre.
i want to know how long it took them to fix your device or did they replace it with a new one.
My ZR today fell into water with flap open and slight amount of water slid into the phone. I claimed warranty but no use they wont cover it. There seems to be motherboard damage to touch and they are asking 26000INR for repair. This sucks !
hmmm... buy another one lol

Seems like il get Honami this time. But again, m scared to trust in Sony because of their poor warranty service.
Comment
They stated that this phone is waterproof, provided that all flaps are closed and the battery cover is placed properly.
This waterproof warranty has been an issue for many users, I suggest to be careful next time, because even the Honami will not be covered by warranty if the water gets-in in an open USB cover.
Actually, the warranty you ask for does not exist. Not for any pruduct, not in any region....

Here in Sweden, if the handset is not waterproof, with flaps closed the warranty definetly exeist.
I tested the waterproofness when i bought my handset, with all flaps and battery cover closed the phone leaked. Recieved a replacement even though it took some time for the warranty.

Hello, on another forum I found such a case :

http://screenshooter.net/1584601/ddrofvu
http://screenshooter.net/1584601/okybuai
At the forum posted that phone normally working. Sony refused to guarantee
What to do with this? I have new phone and can I put my phone in pants pocket ?
Its link to polish forum: http://forum.android.com.pl/f867/krzywy-telefon-dosa-ownie-352418/
I dont understand the problem.. Perhaps you can share some more info since I cant read polish..
My problem: I dont know whether this is a defect in the model, and I'm afraid that it is going to happen with my phone. It is a strange phenomenon.
What is the defect. Like I said I cant read a thing on that website
Can you use google translate? I cant say this better ;(. For me defect this phone is "easy to bend" sorry for language.
Holy cow that's a serious issue if that happens when just in your pocket.
I carry mine only in my pocket too, no case, and its perfectly fine.
Can you post some pics with the phone face down, I would like to see how big the gap is.
Sent from my C5303 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Its not my phone, the difference is about 3mm
How on earth is that possible. A phone that has bend?
I dont know what to do with this phone
Why is did not repaired yet? You cant work with this phone like this?
That is not a normal defect. Return to Sony for Repair or swap. You must wear really tight pants for that to bend

I don't think it's that the pants were tight, something's wrong with the aluminium I guess. This really don't look good at all..
OK now I'm paranoid, my phone has a slight rock when it's face down on a flat surface. The movement less than a millimetre, so I hope that's just a natural manufacturing variance...
First time in my life I see a Xperia Phone curved!
You better get it to sony center!
no aluminium body can bend just like that if we keep phone in pockets
this is manufacturing defect
is it brought with warranty or without warranty??
because when i got one without warranty, i paid less but it has some serious defects on its body!!
I hope Xperia SP doesn't earn the nickname banana phone.
Of maybe it is Sony showing Samsung and LG how a real curved phone should be?
Dears,
I just dropped my phone from 15 cm hight n top right corner landed on table(10-15 pages paper above the table), now i can see the cracked inside the plastic body. My question is, there will be warranty for this kinds of issue, its not even 1 month yet i bought. I read the seller warranty terms but it doesnt seems it will cover my issue since its my fault. I am not using any case ,we dont have any case in market, i live in dubai.

User error is hardly ever covered by warranty. However, differences in coverage exist between countries. In the netherlands, they are pretty strict when it comes to liquid or as I call it, crash damage. Not only that, the usability of the phone is not impaired by your visible cracks inside the plastic cover, so the damage is purely cosmetic. As far as I know, that is never covered within warranty (except for maybe the black iPhone, in which the damage was clearly produced by a production error ).

I can't see anything at all in that photo, perhaps you can point an arrow or circle the damaged part or something.

Hi everyone,
I got my Z3 compact a week ago and all is good, but I just noticed something weird on the edge of the screen, it's like there's a wire or something popping out in the gap between the screen and the frame. This got me wondering if there might be a problem with the water resistance, what do you guys think?
The device is brand new and didn't suffer from any drops or any weird maneuvers, didn't even been tried in water.
Thanks and have a good day.

looks like a misplaced gasket... try the pressure sensor in test mode, open dialer and digit *#*#7378423#*#*, then service tests and pressure sensor... push oh the screen, if the pressure doesn't change even a little bit, your phone is not waterproof and needs to be sent for repair
p.s. when I say push, I mean apply a reasonable force to the screen, not crack it.. if it really is a misplaced gasket, the pressure will be steady.. if not, you'll notice continuous micro-variations in pressure as you hold the phone in your hand
Actually it rises by 3 or 4 millibars and drops back (to lower value than the original) in two or three seconds.. This means it's intact I guess?

I have the same problem with my z3 compact. But it's on the opposite side where yours have occurred. I don't know how much it would cost to get it fixed but I assume it would be a little expensive because I do think they have to replace the whole front LCD+Digitizer that comes with it's own adhesive.
But I'm not bothered about it at all because even when it was still intact, I said to myself that I would never put or drop this phone on the pool or water. I bought myself a protector just incase I want to take underwater pictures.
yes, it seems so.
But if you've just bought it, I'd return it anyway and buy another
Did it happen just like that or was it there since you bought the phone?
I agree with you, not gonna expose it to water, but still it sucks that you have a water resistant phone and you worry about water.

Thanks, I bought it without Sony's garantie because it costs extra, so I don't think they will exchange it. I'm going to keep it since everything else is fine.

That does not sound right. The manufacturer's warranty should cover defective products. You have to pay extra for that? Mine was repaired under warranty (for a different problem) without paying extra for a warranty.
To me it's seem that the screen is a bit high too on the angle, in mine the glass is parallel or maybe a bit lower compared to the frame, yours seems like the glass is higher compared to the frame, how much is the value of millibar?? 10k+ about??

I'm in France and the system of warranty is terrible , they just cover major dysfunctions of the phone (touchscreen not working, defective camera..), when I asked the store about this today they said it's probably some manufacturer installed tool to help open up the phone in case of repair!! could it actually be this??

Actually that's just the protective tempered glass I installed
The value of pressure was around 1004 since I got the phone, today I found it to be 994 but still responding to pressure. Is this normal?

Oh, I see.
No, that is not something to help open the phone. If it were, they would all have it.
It's only been a week, the store should easily be able to exchange it for you. If not, Sony will.
