[Q] KFHD 7 New motherboard NOW WHAT?? - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello XDA Gurus,
I received a new motherboard for my friend's KFHD 7 and put it inside and KFHD booted up fine. A couple hours later I brought it home to Android it and the screen keeps flashing white plus multiple other colors across the screen when I boot it up now??? Please help I do not know what to replace at this time but am willing to fix it. Is it the digitizer?

If it does it before the os loads up ( like as soon as you power it on) I would think to check the connection to the digitized/screen, I'm assuming some sorta microfiber cable like that one I tore through with a screwdriver in a old Motorola phone(was not on purpose xD). If it does it after the initial boot loader logo I'd say something really went wrong with the flash.

Since I posted I have taken the NEW Motherboard out and swapped with one running CM11 and it booted up just fine. No flickering or anything like that. So i would assume it is something wrong with the motherboard itself at this time? Am I wrong? Boots up a displays just fine with other motherboard inside. I kinda hope its the board because they are easier to replace than glass and digitizer. Again any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

[Q] LCD slowly failed and now D3 wont turn on

So today my D3 was acting up with the brightness of the Screen and then it would only come on after messing with the screen by sliding it in and out until i came on and i had to leave it in that exact position or it would go black again.
Then my D3 wouldnt come on at all no matter what i did so i took the battery out and held the power button until i heard the boot animation. After awhile i noticed that it started getting very warm or at least i felt it was.
And well now the phone will not make any sounds or movement and no lights come on at all except the charging LED when i plug it in.
unfortunetly the phone is out of warranty and i dont have Insurance so im pretty much screwed which i guess is fine because its rooted and moded with Steel Droid 3.0 and I couldnt download the Stock Rom Zip.
Any ideas?!?
Can anyone help me?!?
Any similar experiences?!?
Could it be the Battery or is it the LCD is fried?!?!?
The only way to fix this is to unlock the bootloader!
I doubt the bootloader has anything to do with it. It sounds like a hardware problem, possibly the ribbon cable for the screen coming loose. If that is the problem you could try taking the phone apart to see if it is loose and disconnect and reconnect it to see if that helps.
Sounds like the flex cable connecting the two halves of the phone has failed. All you need to do is to have it replaced. You can find replacement online - eBay/etc and do it yourself if you are comfortable taking the phone apart. It is not super difficult.

I agree it sounds like a failed flex. Unfortunately it's a pricy cable, as it has all of the front sensors attached to it. I have seen a few places online that sell them. If anyone finds them cheap, share here, I have a couple D3s with bad flex cables in my bad phone pile.
Best bet is to sell the dead phone, and buy another. People may still pay a few hundred for a non working D3

[Q] LG thrill will not power with new digitizer?

Hello guys I was wandering any of you can help me with a problem.

Sounds like you are going into emg mode e.g. vol up and power.
If the phone is off and you plug it into your computer do you get the charging screen?
Follow-Up Needed from Original Poster
My nephew owns an LG THRILL 3D P925 from AT&T. He dropped it and broke the digitizer resulting in huge spider cracks. So, for his birthday I decided to be a great uncle purchase a digitizer online.
I received a P920 replacement digitizer. I was told this would be compatible with the phone by the company I purchased it from.
Everthing went really well with the digitizer replacement as the process was pretty easy. However, when I attempt to power on the phone, I get a vibration with zero activity from the LCD.
At first I thought that I somehow ripped the LCD cable or the digitizer cable; however, after close inspection, I do not see any flaws in either cables or their respective connection points.
I too feel like the phone is stuck in download mode. I wish I knew if the original poster has resolved their issue, and I would not mind continuing the discovery process on how to fully troubleshoot this with you John if you would oblidge. I did not think it would be beneficial for me to start a new thread considering I am experiencing the exact same issue as the OP.
Thanks in advance for any assistance from Anyone!
Bump..
Should I just start my own post?
I don't think another post would get anymore attention

Galaxy S amoled screen broken but not the gorilla glass

Hey guys, my old and trusty galaxy S amoled screen shattered somehow, and I do not want to repair the phone as who knows the internal parts might die anytime?
Does anyone know of other uses for such a phone? Or is replacing the screen the only way out to make full use out of it?
It's interesting to see a phone model 2 years old still has so much development going on

If you're handy with things like this, a replacement screen is about $80, which isn't too bad. Pretty big pain to do it though. On the other end of things, if you're half decent with a linux terminal (or willing to learn a bit), ADB will be your best friend here.
EDIT: Also unless you mess something up internally or do something really wrong flashing it, it won't just die on you.

Hi, I had the same issue few months ago. At that time, I found that you can buy a replacement display on e-bay, but most users claimed it was not an AMOLED display.
Also, in my case, I was not able to connect to the phone by ADB.
For those reasons I then decided to send the phone to the Samsung repair center. The only problem was that they wiped the phone (they did a factory reset). However, I didn't loose any picture I have saved on the phone. The phone is happily working and running CM10 nightlies
regards,
marco
I have a broken touchscreen (still works but is badly scatert)
So can i only replace touchscreen?
So not can i just put a new lcd with touchscreen on it. (I have amoled one is it posible to put lcd on it?) Because i know amoled is a pain to.findd parts.

[Q] new digitizer, still not working!

hey guys, so i have the LG Optimus 2X, P990-HN, i'm with Fido (doubt it matters) anyway, there was a large crack in my screen, and i just dealt with it for a long time, but eventually the glass FELL OUT, the rest of it worked, but i couldn't leave it, so i ordered a new Digitizer from DealExtreme.com and it was about $50 CAD, reviews tell me it worked, googled it nobody else had complaints, so i doubt it's a fake or anything, all the way from singapore, i put it in and i can see everything clearly through it, beautiful, but zero response from the touch screen. none at all in any area, what could it be? also, if i take the screen out to re-seat it do i need to apply heat and completely remove it, and if so will that make it garbage and need a new one? will the heat kill it? i'm quite upset because it costed 50 bucks and took a long time to get here, and i finally put it in and it doesn't work, all help appreciated!
Have you tried the service center ? One probable way to check if the new one really works is to connect the old one back and see if touch works.. You might have accidentally pulled out some other connection .. just my guess

if i take off thte new screen with a hair dryer, will that ruin the screen though?
Not sure about that . Is the new screen stuck on to the device like a sticker ? I recall seeing some YouTube videos on Optimus 2x surgery

yes i ordered a digitizer though, replace it and it didnt work, what the hell could it be i just dont understand, and i can do it myself but i don't know the problem
I have done this twice with OK success. It is important to connect all electronics correctly - check YouTube for guides. But even if you did all correct be digitiser might be defect. Either you being it to service centre or redo digitiser install. Maybe, you can check before closing the phone, and if not working correctly check with your old digitiser. Heating and reheating should be no problem (although nothing is without risk). Good luck.

hey, thanks for helping me out. i think the digitizer MUST be defective, i took it apart and put the old SHATTERED one in, and it works FINE, aside from you know... being shattered. then i plugged the other NEW one in, and no response from the touchscreen. the ribbon wire looks to be fine, the connection to the logic board was fine, everything was hooked up right (or the other one wouldn't have worked right?) so if i cant SEE anything wrong with a digitizer, what could even be wrong with it, it MUST be defective, but what can really be defective about a digitizer? what can go wrong on something with so little to break...?
Don't know what is wrong, but it must have been defect before you got it. Try to return it to the seller/shop as soon as possible and get your money back.

ubs port/ modding

Im new here and im not sure im in the right spot of the forum so sorry about that if i am......I recently had a kindle and modded it and put cm10 on it. The thing had a flakey usb port, and im just wondering if putting a custom rom on the kindle fire could cause the usb port to fail. I tried using cm9 and it was still doing it. So im just trying to put my mind at ease for when i get my new one in the mail and making sure it wont die like the last one. Also it was from amazon warehouse deals so that be why it had faulty port! thanks for the help in advanced!!!
