Damn purse did it,I can't tell if its just the camera ring or anything internal. Any way to get rid of this problem?
Never heard of this. LOL
But if something metal got magnetized, it would take a magnet to do that....and only time will correct it.

I've searched the web daily to see if any defects arise but I've seen only one.
Battery life depleting rapidly
Besides that defect. What are other defects I should look out for that you have seen, heard of, or have/had with your moto x.
Also I've heard that the plastic around the screen grabs TONS of scratches because its glossy plastic(right?). One said after a month receiving a notable amount. Another zero to hardly any after a month.
I just want to know what to look out for when I get it. I'm gonna grab one when the Moto Maker is available for Verizon. I own the Galaxy Nexus and I know there are GNex vets in here that know the issues and defects of the Gnex. I have several HORRIBLE defects with my nexus and I wanna make sure I know what to look for when I get my X.
I am stock rooted and have had absolutely ZERO issues. Not a single random reboot, no battery drain, nothing. Google and Motorola took their time with this phone and it shows. No idea what people are doing to their phones to cause some of these issues. As far as the corners and edge of the screen scratching, I haven't seen anyone else mention that, and mine has been out of a case the majority of the time I have had the phone. The edge of the screen is not plastic. One big advantage to this phone is the fact that the Gorilla Glass 2 that is equipped with wraps around the device.
Its GLASS???? How did I not know! I follow this device closely on XDA and the Web.

What phone are you using? Does the glass that covers the display not wrap around to the sides of the phone? Google moto x magic glass

A moto x. You can see quite clearly with the white face that it's just a normal pane of Glass that does not wrap around anything. And the right edge of mine where the glass meets the plastic is not set right and you can pull the plastic bezel to the side

Weird...the glass on mine wraps around all the way to the power and volume buttons on the right side and the Sim slot on the left, USB port on the bottom and headphone jack on the top...

I'd be willing to bet money it doesn't. On the left side of my screen you can't detect any joint where the plastic and glass meet. Multiple web sites have also confirmed that it's not the "magic glass" that was first reported but a very well put together phone. Look up the Ifixit tear down

It's definitely plastic around the edge. I love my moto x... but I'm really disappointed the sides have gotten scratched.
The scratches aren't huge issue, but I'm sad because it's the snap case that I purchased from Motorola that's caused them. The way the case snaps into place, there's actually a small gap where dirt/sand/whatever can get stuck inbetween the phone and the case. And if you take your phone out of the case while there's something there.... it will definitely leave a mark.
Another issue I've noticed is that on the back near the dimple, there's a small section my case doesn't cover.. and there's some discoloration going on there. It looks like the plastic has been absorbing finger oil and it now has a bit of a glossy sheen that won't come off.
Got a moto X from ebay with a vibration motor that rattles too much, it actually makes noise when typing. My other Moto X's vibration felt normal. I believe i've read somewhere that the Moto X's vibration motor is attached in some way that's not optimal, and from experience some Moto Xs are better than others at vibrating.
Other gripes with my Moto X:
-Activate Notifications: I keep getting the flashing clock while driving (Which should only happen when you pick up the phone.) It makes me think there's a new notification, when there actually isn't. Quite annoying while driving actually. (I keep it on my lap)
-Battery seemed better on my other Moto X.
-Headphone output seems a bit low. Higher than my nexus 4 and lower than my GS3.
Of course nearly everything else is delightful about this phone. Specially the screen and the deep blacks which complement a black-front nicely. Also surprisingly good accuracy with touchless controls.
Thank you guys for your answers. I've also seen around here lint/dirt can be stuck underneath the lens of the camera right out of the box.

I know what it is FYI. It's just "stronger" glass. I've read up on how they're made.

dropped my first moto four days after getting it. so they gave me another one.
first phone was perfect. second phone.... hollowish vibrating motor and like you... i think my battery isnt as good. i still get a day plus. but my first one was getting 36 hours plus. i dunno what carrier you are one. but i am contributing the worsened battery life to the update.
Adding this to the list of issues:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2481483
Um battery life is great on this phone... People that have bad battery life probably have something running constantly in the background.

I was just wondering if it is just my phone. I got the developers edition VZW and when I push on the logo in the back of the phone (back/bottom of the phone) I get a tape sound when I release. Like they forgot to put padding or something in the back.
Is this normal?
I was going to go to the VZ store and see if they have the issue.
Same!
I have the regular vzw moto x and it does the same thing! I thought mine was defective or something. Weird...
I have had three Moto Maker AT&T models and none have had this issue. They have had other issues, including faulty haptic feedback, WiFi antenna, and varying degrees of smoothness at the edges (the wraparound glass or whatever they called it) and on the flash (one phone was completely smooth at the edges and at the flash on the back, another has a more pronounced lip).

also moving onto my third moto x. 2 gsm dev editions, and now i'm just going on to a used at&t model. for me:
1st gsm dev: marks on the screen in low light
2nd gsm dev: dirt embedded in the white backing, rattley/loose vibrations, creaky back
i figure, as long as i'm compromising and not getting a perfect device, might as well save $300 and get a used one where my expectations aren't so high. i just hope i get one with tight vibrations. i wish moto would get their crap together, this is such a beautiful phone.
Wait.. so I'm really interested in getting a moto x but it sounds like there are a lot of problems with the build quality.. Is this only with the phones that are manufactured in the US?

there are a lot of issues on every new phone released. but there seems to be a good bit from the usa factory. if you are in the states... a motomaker phone is your best bet as far as quality goes. my first one was perfect. but dropped it on day four and busted the glass. so they gave me a new one. this one seems to have a weak vibrator. but that is something i can easily live with. as im not a fan of haptic. but i have yet to turn it off because i dont need the battery savings.
Well, I just tried and mine does it too. I never hold the phone in such a way that I'm actually touching that area so not really an issue for me. It does sound like tape, though.

while i have no plans of testinf it out...there were leaked pics just before the release that show the x in layers. those pics show that there is some empty space as the back curves up at the camera all the way to the top. there is a lip at the top of the camera to keep the back from flexing in. id imagine that is why you can press down in the first place. just fyi.
OK. So it is normal. From the answers here and going to the Verizon store. They must have a piece of tape for the entire back and a gap at the bottom of the phone. Causing the issue. I am not going to try to do an RMA because it seems to be a design issue.
Aside from this issue, this has been by far my favorite android phone.

makes sense and agree. i didnt look at ifixit, so i didnt want to say there was tape. but i know the og droid razr had a back that was taped to the battery. and then the battery was connected by a ribbon. of which i ripped and ruined when taking it apart. so be careful if you ever decide to diy. it helps with twist/flex. so i would have to assume they did the same thing on the x. and it sounds like the tape is a bit bigger than it needs to be. no doubt because the usa plant isnt as good at building phones so they made it easier on the employees. which is why peeps are able to push in and hear a tape sound. it sounds like if it were an eighth inch shorter... this would be a non issue.
and i also agree with you that its not worth worrying about. the bad assedness of the phone makes up for the design flaw.
Hi. Just wanted to see if this is a normal occurrence for the Moto X wood back, or if it's something I should ask about since I'm still in my 2 week trial period.
I ordered an ebony-backed Moto X, and I am seeing some irregularities in what looks like the coating on the wood. I thought it might just be dirt, but it won't wipe off with water.
Is it just normal wear? If it's wear, I would hope eventually the entire back panel would look more consistent.
Hi, I had the same ebony phone and I can tell you from experience that mark is from putting the phone in a TPU case. I also tried to rub it off using water and LCD screen cleaner and it would not go away. I returned it because of my OCD.

I just received my second Moto X Gen 2 and was wondering if anybody else has this issue.
The silver Moto dimple on the bag has a slightly off center logo. The 1st one I had was way off center, which I exchanged with Motorola. My second arrived with one that is slightly off. Picture the circle with the Moto "M" on it being turned right or left by a hair. I found similar complaints on Reddit.
Anybody else?
Picture?

I never even looked at mine.
DAMN IT.... I never noticed it until this thread. Yes, mine is ever so slightly turned too. Not that I'll RMA the phone over it, but again, DAMN IT...
Just got the Moto X. Nice phone. Can't wait for the update (AT&T). One thing I have noticed in the few days I've owned this phone is that my screen collects dust like nobody's business. Most of the time I pull my phone out of my pocket, there's a bunch of dust up by the earpiece. Not sure of the dust rating, but it almost makes me fear for my speaker.
Anybody else notice this occurrence? My last phone didn't do this and the one before that only did because of the rubber Otter Box.
