HTC 802w Hard Brick - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well I had one nasty night.
I was using the phone (browsing) and all the sudden the screen went black. I browsed and found a few HTC One articles about that but there was a major difference, the home and back buttons were blinking, and mine were not. Also the device was not showing up under ADB or Fastboot.
My phone does not show any signs of life (like vibration when turning on). Can I assume the phone is dead?
Phone was:
-Unlocked via HTCDev
-S-Off via Firewater
-Had Maximus 2.0 installed

If there is ABSOLUTELY no sign of life, then you will have to assume the worst, which would mean that the phone is dead. In that case, you will have to send the phone to HTC for a motherboard replacement.
Just see if the phone is charging. Does the red LED turn on when plugged in ?

I guess so . The only sign of life I get is the beeping of Windows when I plug in the device. But nothing shows up on Windows manager. Going to grab a windows xp laptop and see if it can detect anything.

Did you try shining a bright light on the proximity sensor and holding down power and volume down?

When u connect the phone to the computer and the beeping sound of Windows comes, open Device Manager. Do you see a device called QHUSB_DLOAD or Qualcomm device something... ??

Ok. Just got to my Winxp machine and a QHUSB_DLOAD device showed up. When I hold the power, the device changes to a USB Input Device.
I'm gonna lookup what that QHUSB is.

Hate to say it but that's a hard brick alright. No chance of fixing it. Has to go in to service

Ok....... Well, i have bad news. Your device is indeed hard-bricked(dead). A motherboard replacement will be required to revive it. QHUSB_DLOAD is s hard-brick

[HELP] HTC One not turning on

Just wondering if anyone can help me out here..
My HTC is not turning on at all. I was using it fine, nothing was over heating and it was just in my pocket. I went to check on my phone and it was just off. Is there anything I can do, or possibly take it in for warranty. I have never owned a HTC so I don't know where to go for support. I am from Sydney Australia. Any help would be appreciated. I have left it on charge for 30 minutes - And nothing yet, not turning on

No lights or anytihng coming up? Try any button combinations, power and volume down, try it while the phone is not plugged in... report back with any findings.

It is unlocked and rooted.. Tried all combinations before posting this thread. Lights are not on at all when charging. At this point it seems dead, but the question is how?

Although when I hold the power down when plugged into my PC it makes the unplug sound and while still holding the power button long enough it has the plugged in sound. But nothing shows up on PC
Not sounding good at all. Hopefully someone else chimes in on this matter and has other ideas. Good luck.

Tried everything.. I bought this phone from Gumtree Australia a few months ago and that person got it from the Optus store via Contract I believe. But I don't have the Receipt however, I have the box and accessories and warranty stickers that come inside the box. Would I have to go through Optus store or is there a HTC One centre like they have Apple and Samsung centres/stores..
This question is probably only for Australian users
I heard of this before... Try plugging it into your computer and leave it for an hour. Then... (While still plugged in) hold it under a bright light and hold power + vol down, for a few minutes. I think this problem occurs because CWM allows the voltage to get too low for the phone to start. Good luck man

Well, when I heard this in another thread he said he fixed it by plugging it into the computer for an hour or so. Then the led turned red, then he put it into recovery and booted right into the ROM. Np hope it works out for you

The light has to be facing the phone. You can see the two sensors on the top left on the front, point the light there.
I fix mine by let it charge on wall plug for 4 days straight until red LED started to ON back..lets it charge for another 1/2 hr n press the power button to ON the device..weird..4 days just to gain back some juice due to battery completely die..

[Q] HTC One has just died and won't power on

Ok, I have a HTC One from new, only a few months old. 4 days ago I rooted my device and flashed with Android Revolution HD, Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) - latest official HTC One 3.57.401.500 (WWE) firmware (3x.x series). Everything has been working like a dream, perfect.
Last night I was listening to some music via Google Play when everything stopped and went blank, I pressed the power button and the bottom buttons flashed 4 times (reboot?). The battery at the time was at 70% +
No matter what I try now, power + up volume, power + down volume, power + both volume, just power will not get my device to boot. I am currently leaving it plugged into the mains to see what happens but there is no LED light on.
Can anyone out there help me besides saying send it back for repair
Many thanks in advance
One thing to add. When I plug the phone into the PC via USB, I can press power and up or down volume and can hear the connect and disconnect sounds happening with my HTC One but still no power or sign of life. Anything going on I can't see?

Good. Now just keep holding the power+vol down till the buttons below the screen flash, then plug it into your pc whole holding the combo, and keep trying till your phone boots up

Going through exactly the same thing here. Phone was working just fine, had stock Android 4.3 installed after rooting with CWM and now the only response I get from it is when I hold down volume down and the power button I get the USB unplug/plug unknown device sounds on the PC.
Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.

So now if you hold the phone power+vol down buttons the lights don't flash? Try holding them for longer, also try holding a flashlight to the light sensor while holding the button combination..

I got the same problem yesterday
my htc one is flashed with google edition 3.4 for few months ,suddenly it is black and no charging light nor response to any combination of power plus volume
I put for few hours on charging no any response
when plugging it the desktop in device manager just feel like something is attached to pc (do just like(refresh)
I've just read about how this problem could've happened because of using 3rd party chargers with a higher voltage/ampere rating.. Is that true?

I've been using Samsung and Nokia chargers every now and then. But it seems stupid something like that would be enough to toast a phone. Don't phone components have surge protectors?

It's just weird. I've taken great care of the phone and it bricked for no decent reason. It wasn't charging or anything. It was simply on the top of a table, in the shade. Whenever I plug it into the computer, I get the QHSUSB_DLOAD unrecognized device, which is also weird. If the motherboard is fried, it shouldn't be recognized at all, right?

It will actually get recognized.. But this unfortunately is a hard brick.. Looks like this is the mode in which Qualcomm/HTC inserts initial codes into the phone to make it work.. Like maybe it programs the bootloader at this stage?

I'm downloading the RUU as a hail mary, but I'm not very hopeful. Worst part is that I live in Brazil and have a device from Australia. It's going to be a HUGE amount of trouble to get it replaced, apart from all the stuff I had on it.

You need to be able to boot up at least in fastboot mode to flash an RUU.. I tried when my phone died.. 99% it won't work. Getting a replacement is all you can do.. Unless you find somebody in your area with a jtag box and a good level of expertise/experience.

Yeah, some places have the JTAG box around here, but they don't work with HTC One, since the device didn't officially come to Brazil. I guess I'll have to figure out how to get my phone to Australia and then back again.

[Q] HTC One won't turn on

I have HTC One I bought it from ebay, the problem is not turning on and not charging either, it did try to turn on once when it was plugged in to my PC but screen showed up for brief moment and vibrated but disappeared after that.
When I plug the phone to PC it is trying to load the driver and also show up as Android 1.0 in device manager (see attached), and also PC making noise same as when we plug some thing in USB.
I tried to hold volume + power and PC making noise like something detecting but nothing showing up in my computer.
I really appreciate if someone can help me to narrow down the problem.
Thanks

When you hold power button for more than 8-10 secs, is the notification light(it will be in the upper speaker) turning on atleast?
anyway, it sounds like a manufacture defect, i would recommend you to return it in HTC service center ASAP and get a replacement to avoid any future issues.

No notification light come on but sometimes if I keep pressing volume up+volume down + power for longer than 2 min screen come on briefly and phone vibrates but than nothing
I cannot send as a warranty replacement since I don`t know the history of the phone.
What you guys think its worth while to give to repair shop and what you think its going to cost me.
Correct me if I m wrong, if there 8s any problem in mobo it woun't show up on PC as an android device. So I think its software messed up.
There is any way to do diagnostic on the phone?

What country are you in? I'd try running an RUU, see if it picks the phone up, even if its the wrong RUU it wont run but it will tell you which RUU you need instead.

I dont know about that buddy. Sorry
Have you tried a different USB Cable? Different USB port?
Install HTC Sync, then uninstall it, but keep the drivers when it asks.
Hold Power and Volume Up at the same time, can take anywhere up to 1 min.
Post back if you get anything.
Yesterday I booted into recovery mode two times
1st time I tried factory reset nothing happened
2nd time I tried ruu, and it get to point where ruu tried to reboot and after that nothing
And I was not able to boot it again.
They way it got into recovery I hold it volume down + power
But after two bootup red light started flashing agin as before.
Any gelp will be appreciated.
Thanks

[Q] HTC ONE Wont Turn On. Suddenly Stopped Working

Hello,
My Phone Suddenly Stopped working while i was accessing an app on it. I suddenly got app fore close errors of almost all the apps running in background. Than phone lost its signal. i tried force rebooting it by holding on the power button. the button lights (at the bottom) blinked for few time and my phone got off. And never turned back on. I am not getting Red Charging LED. i tried all the combinations of power button with volume rocker up,down, holding three buttons simultaneously. i tried charging my device on regular intervals from 15 minutes to 2 hour. but it wont turn back on. i was on insert coin 6.0-5. i am using original charger to charge my phone.
Please tell me any alternates i should try.

HTC One Not Charging :(

I don't know what to do now, I'm feeling depressed just by thinking about my problem. Okay, so just to give ya the backstory (nothing big), my phone's battery died when going home to the gym (automatically shut down), didn't think much about it. I got home, after awhile, I plugged in my HTC One into the charger and it wouldn't charge at all!!! :crying: Never happened to me before, I'm running on the latest TWRP, and on the Google Edition rom. Now on to what I did next.
I tried just leaving it on there for a few hours, NOT A PEEP, no LED light, nada just completely dead. Then I plugged it into the laptop USB port, it doesn't recognizes the device but it did install a driver too (forgot what it was called though). And the computer does indeed recognizes the device's existence cuz I hear the computer make that sound when you hook it up to the computer. Also in the the Devices and Printers on Windows 7, it either says Unknown Device or USB Input Device depending on what USB port I hook it up to. And after a few hours charging from the PC, the LED light did come back but only the low battery is dead pulsing (dunno what else to call it lol, its not the solid LED light). And it only does it for a few minutes, goes away then repeats. So does that mean there is some glimmer of hope? I've tried holding the Power button for a minute or 2, nothing. Power button + Vol Up? Nope. Power button + Vol Down? Nope. Do all of those while the LED light is pulsing? Nope. When its completely black? Nope.
So what can I do?! I can't claim warranty because I bought this off Craigslist (plus I'm rooted, so that would be moot anyways), can someone help this depressed as heck man? Its like I'm watching my best friend die slowly. :crying: lol. Sorry if it was a long read, just wanted to put everything in OP, would appreciate the help!

Thank you for responding. Yeah, I tried those 2 steps, so far no good. I'm just very confused because when I charge the One by my PC, the LED orange light just blinks for awhile then goes away, then the cycle continues, does that mean the battery isn't 100% completely dead? god I'm so confused and sad at the same time lol.
This seems to be happening with TWRP 2.7.x. If you can possibly flash a different recovery you may resurrect your phone...

How can I flash anything when the phone wont wake up? ugh, the only hope I'm getting is that the LED is blinking from time to time, meaning there's at least something going on.
Anyone else?
Anyone? I guess theres nothing else to do huh?
*If* twrp 2.7.0.0 caused your issue (which is hard to say since we don't know which recovery you are using) then somehow you have to overwrite the recovery in fastboot.
The phone needs to be able to boot into HBOOT and then go into fastboot. the battery will have to have enough charge for the recovery flash to succeed.
i honestly don't know the next step for your case, maybe someone else can help.
