Call Blocker - Droid Ultra Themes and Apps

Hi Everyone,
Not sure if it's because of tax season but I'm getting multiple calls a day from telemarketers and wanted to know if anyone knows of a call blocker that will pickup and hangup or send a busy signal. Yes I know that VzW offers a paid version and you get 5 for free, I'm way beyond 5 different numbers calling. I remember on one of my Samsung devices it had a ROM with a native call blocker but everything on the Play store will send the calls to my voicemail which doesn't stop them from calling again even if they say it will pickup and hangup.
Rooted 4.4 OTA Droid Maxx
TIA

Mr. Number answers and hangs up. It's a great app.

Probably program tasker to do that. However, telemarketers are usually never allowed to hang up on you, so they are a great place to vent all your frustrations about the whole situation that's been escalating between Scotland and Belize. I know that one has me really worried. If they go to war, we may never have haggis or extradition free zones again! The horror!

When I'm on a call with 4G LTE enabled, people have told me numerous times they have a hard time hearing me. I hear them fine, but they say I sound muffled. When I disable the 4G they say I sound much louder and clearer. I'm on my 2nd Bionic because of this (3rd one on the way).
Now I leave 4G disabled unless I need to go online. Royal PITA. Has anyone else noticed anything like that?
Well alright then! Ok I guess I have to start asking for a new one now cause I don't have 4g in my sts I never knew about this issue but I noticed this while using 4g over the weekend damn...I wonder if I can complain enough where I can get the prime....

I wonder if we can get more people to test this out. It's a really simple test if folks wouldn't mind trying it out. This test requires you to be in a 4G coverage area.
1) With 4G LTE enabled, call your home or work phone and leave yourself a message...maybe about 20seconds long. If you can't think of enough content to fill up 20seconds, simply read this post aloud as your message.
2) Go to menu, settings, wireless & network settings, mobile networks, network mode, select CDMA only. Again call your home or work phone and leave yourself a message.
3) Check your voicemail and see if you can hear a noticeable difference between the volume and the clarity of the 2 calls.
4) Please post results back in the thread - even if you don't notice a difference. Also it would be preferable to tell us what city you're located in when performing the test.
5) If you do hear that your 4G call sounds less than desirable, please contact Vz and/or Motorola to report the issue.

Well it's true that the 4G connection is only used for data...but that doesn't rule out the possibility that it can cause interference when you're on a call. From my home in Gainesville FL, every call I make with 4G enabled sounds bad to the person I'm calling. When I disable 4G and call back things sound great. FWIW I'm in the office today, located in Tampa FL, and my wife said I sounded fine with 4G enabled. So perhaps it's a geographic issue. Hopefully some other folks will chime in with their experience.
Yea let's see how it goes I really like my bionic and I'm thinking if getting the dock so I plug it in and use it in the field and the new one looking like its going to be light weight with new keyboard but if and when I get 4G and this continues I might just bail on bionic if the issue isn't fixed...not bothering me now cause I don't have 4G coverage but let's see how it goes when I do get coverage

Used to love this phone

But after updating to 2.3 it has really screwed my phone up. I used the lg updater and did everything the legit way, the night they released it. Now my phone doesn't keep time, I'm lucky if my phone rings once out of every ten phone calls, and I don't get text messages until I turn my phone on and unlock the screen. I don't even get missed call alerts, just a voicemail alert some hours later. I rooted my phone back when I was on 2.2 using super one click I think. Could this be what is messing it up?
Sent from my LG-P925 using XDA
Not the root causing problem it is ghost calls and I have heard many developers say it is 2.3.5 issue and have heard LG will come out with a fix for it soon but knowing LG I wouldn't hold your breathe

I know I don't get the text message icon half the time on the notification bar.
Yes the update is to blame. I decided to drop the thrill and move on. Grabbed a htc vividly official ice update and it works great. The face recognition is nice..wont use my thrill as a phone any longer..
I am using Thrill Seeker 2.0, and I am not having any of these problems. I had to mess around with some things to free up resources since I have using the SPB Shell 3D Launcher, but after using the AutoKiller I'm all good.
Ghost calls are indeed a part of V20p (and all gingerbread updates for this phone as far as I can tell). Nothing to do with root. There's no way to know its happening unless the person who tried to call you chews your ear off later on about not answering your phone or calling back (my wife). Or when you recieve the voicemail to the call you never got.
Now if only the ghost calls would limit themselves to telemarketers...sigh
Seriously though, if the person calling doesn't make it known they tried to call you then you'll likely never know it even happened. This is something they need to fix ASAP and I would suggest flooding their emails and forums demanding a fix. I know I am.

No ghost calls on Thrill Seeker 2.0 on my V20P thrill.
Did you verify APNs and try a factory reset? Whats your signal db look like?
I can confirm that while I have not experienced any ghost calls my phone's clock was 20 minutes behind today when I was in class. Thank goodness I didn't rely on that time when going to school today.
I called at&t today to see what they had to say. They told me that this is the first time he is hearing about this problem, and they want me to try a factory reset first. So I guess I will try that.
I get all my calls. And text
Sent from my LG-P925 using XDA
That's the thing about ghost calls, you really DONT know that you're not getting them.
For example, if somebody calls you and doesn't leave a voicemail, you will never know it even happened. To the person calling you the phone rings like normal and goes to voicemail just as it should. But on your end the call never makes it to your phone and you are oblivious to what's going on.
I didn't think it was happening to me either until somebody actually brought it to my attention they had just called me.

I started getting worried about the ghost calling issue and so I just got off the phone with AT&T. After explaining my problem the customer service person talked to their business center, tech services, and she even called LG for me. After everyone acknowledged the ghost calls as a problem but also had no solution for it... she eventually waved an upgrade fee, waved the phone fee, and is sending me a new, not refurbished, Samsung Galaxy SII for FREE... and I think I even get to keep my Thrill...

How long have you had your Thrill 4G? What did you have to say exactly? I looked over the specs of the Samsung GALAXY S II. It looks pretty nice actually.
I have had my Thrill since January. I simply asked if there was some information about the ghost call issues that started happening after the recent Gingerbread update. I explained that I had done some research and found out that it was a problem for many people, not just my individual phone. I went into the baseband issue and demonstrated that I knew what I was talking about. She then contacted support, tech, and even LG. After 45 minutes everyone recognized that the Thrill has issues but there aren't any good solutions at the moment. LG claims that they have not had many complaints about the Gingerbread update yet, so we need to fill their inboxes/forums with complaints.
So this is actually my business line and I am on a small business plan with AT&T so I explained how ghost calls just aren't acceptable. She totally agreed with me (I'm telling you I got lucky to get this customer service person). She talked with her manager about giving me an early early upgrade exemption. He approved it. I think waffled on the price... so she offered it to me completely free of charge. BAM. At first she did offer it at the normal $99 upgrade cost plus $18 activation fee...
Has anyone else successfully swapped their phones?
I'm getting host calls and delayed texts no matter which gingerbread baseband I flash. If I could swap this for a galaxy SII, I would in a heartbeat.
Dang that's cool they hooked you up like that! I haven't had any problems at all on stock gingerbread or with roms. A GSII would be sweet but I love this phone and enjoy the 3d way more than I thought I would.

Voice cutting out on other end of call?

Is anyone experiencing this? A significant number of people over on the Android Central forum are experiencing their voices cutting out pretty frequently, especially when there's background noise. To clarify, the people on the other end of the line are saying that the person with Moto X's voice is intermittently dropping out.
Some are speculating that it's a problem with the noise cancelling software.

Allow me to be thanked. For cdma versions (VZ and rogers) go to phone then settings and disable voice privacy. First it's BS anyway since cdma to cell is digitized anyway with basic encryption. Second the 48key encryption method I think called is95 umm sucks! It's uses bandwidth on a network that has none and causes breakup and delay. It's an immediate night and day difference.

It doesn't matter because this doesn't fix anything. I'm on Verizon and every phone call I have people complain. I can tell they can't hear me, because I'm asking questions and they just sit there silent. Its really annoying. Especially since I shelled out $705 for a Developer Edition and I can't even use it for its main function.
I really hope Verizon pushes out this update soon.
Mine still does it...
Hey everyone, I know it's been a year since this thread has abruptly stopped (to which I credit an OTA update that fixed the voice cutting in and out issue)...but...I just bought a moto x and my phone is doing it. I have the latest OTA software, stock everything, and I pretty much have to yell for my voice to get above the noise cancellation level to be heard on the other end of the phone call. Interestingly enough, if I speak directly into the mic on the backside of the phone, I come through loud and clear.
I've tried the "voice privacy" setting to no avail. I've tested all (three!) of the mics with the phone's built-in "CQATest" app and can confirm that all three are working. I've spoken with motorola support, cleared my cache, did a full factory reset, and still no dice. Can anyone help?? I hate to send this thing back because I'm almost certain that it's a software issue and not a hardware issue.
Thanks in advance, this is frustrating!! If I don't get replies then I'll start a new thread, seeing as this one is old.
[edit] update: I got a replacement phone and everything works fine. Turns out it was the hardware. I have a suspicion that the used phone I bought had its screen replaced, and it messed up the noise-cancelling features of the mics.

Who else here is on Republic Wireless?

I'm curious how many of my fellow XDA members have the Moto X on Republic Wireless?
I've been on Republic Wireless for about 3 weeks now on the $10/month plan (talk and text on cell, data on wifi only) and so far it works great for my situation. My typical day is spent at the office on wifi and then at home on wifi. I actually think the wifi calling voice quality is better than the cell voice quality. I was hesitant to be on the sprint network, but so far coverage has been great. We'll see how it is when I travel. One thing I did discover today is that the google maps navigation works if you start on wifi and then leave wifi coverage, even with no data connection it will continue to work. I am happy about this because I thought the navigation was one thing I was giving up by running on the $10/month plan. I've also discovered that if you absolutely need a data connection when you are out and about you can often find a wifi hotspot at many restaurants, stores, etc which has been convenient.
I came from a Nexus 5 on a monthly unlimited plan at net10 paying $45/month so my expectation going into this was that it would not be worth an extra $35/month savings to lose cell data, and honestly I figured I would send the phone back, but I've since sold my Nexus 5 and am sticking with Republic.
Cons:
MMS currently only works when sending to Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-mobile (can't send or receive to my wife's phone on Net10)
MMS doesn't work from the new hangouts messaging app, have to send and receive from the old stock messaging app
Android 4.3 instead of 4.4- and I assume they will always be a few months behind on updating to new versions of android since they have to modify the rom to make it work with their system
installing custom ROMs is still highly experimental
Pros:
$10/month for a smartphone- you can't beat that!
Root and Xposed Framework compatible
Wifi calling in places where you might normally have poor cell reception
Ability to switch between the different plans 2x per month and they pro-rate your bill for the days you are on a more expensive plan
Helps keep me off my phone when I'm out with my family
Helps keep me off my phone when I am driving
Referral program- refer your friends and they save $19 on their first month and you save $19 on your bill. Here's my link http://referrals.republicwireless.com/a/clk/25Tx5j
If you are using Republic what are you liking/not liking about the service? How long have you been on it? Tips or pointers you might have?
Don't worry about the sprint network. Republic phones can roam on verizon networks. That is the only reason I purchased one for my wife. She is on the 10 buck plan which is about 12.75 a month with taxes. Sprint data speeds are horrible here and I could never go back to phone as small as the moto x unless they stop making larger phones . However, the moto x is a very very nice phone.
I don't like the locked bootloader and the gsm bands are locked and cannot be unlocked. However, I guess republic has to protect their investment. However, I have to admit that it is pretty much stock android and you can disable almost any app without root which is really nice.
Anyway enjoy your phone and there are some threads already on this subject around here on xda. Folks have rooted the device and there is a restore to stock rom out also.
Later.
I am currently on the 3G $25 a month plan with the Moto X. Its been ok, cell handoff is decent although it gets really confused sometimes. Starbucks wifi, even if I have it not connected will cause issues because it constantly tries to connect/send the call through it but fails. Thats particularly annoying if your getting an important call and happen to be in a restaurant near a Starbucks. I have had other issues when just trying to send regular txts and being connected to an unstable wifi connection. The phone just keeps trying to send through wifi but fails to even send the txt rather then using the cellular network.
Honestly I just keep wifi off half the time because I get tired of the failed calls/txts even though sprints 3G (more like 2G) is terribly slow. Still it works and for $25 a month it cant be beat. I am on the fringe of Sprints 4G network though (literally 10 miles away from solid coverage) so I'm hoping they expand into my market soon. My exposure to sprints 4G/LTE network has been pretty positive, with some very competitive speeds.
I am on the $25 dollar plan with RW. I have found a few issues, but nothing that is terribly broken. When on the fringe of WiFi, I will sometimes have a text sent multiple times. I have been told that texts have been received in up to ten duplicates. Another problem is when the phone is connected to WiFi and has the cell radio disabled. The phone will temporarily disconnect from the RW servers or not respond to RW servers and a call will be missed because it was routed to cell, even though my cell radio is disabled. The result is that the person calling me is sent straight to voicemail.
Yeah so far I have only been on the $10/month plan. I will see how that fares the first time I go out of town- no data might be really annoying.
Does RW roam to Verizon's network for data too, or only for talk and text?
Just a general question. Would you say Republic wireless pros outway the cons?
I think it's worth it for people who are able to be on wifi coverage most of the day. The alternative for me would be a monthly unlimited plan at net10 for $45/month which means any phone I want and 2.5gb per month of data. The extra $35/month savings at RW is worth it for me, but if I was going to have to be on the $25/month plan and only save $15 to $20/month I'm not quite sure it would be worth it. Make sense?
I'm on the $10 plan. I think if Verizon would have let me use my Bionic without data, I would have stayed there. I love having a smartphone, but needed to save money, so I got the Moto X the day they released it for sale on RW. I don't leave the house much, and decided I could wait to get home to read emails and check Facebook. I got NavFree for offline navigation, but haven't really tried it out. So far, I'm VERY happy with RW, and the huge savings, and I love the phone.

I was very happy when I realized that Google Maps works without a data signal, you just have to get started from being on wifi, but once you are in the navigation it will continue to work after leaving wifi. It makes sense though because when you are driving often times you will drive through canyons or remote places where there is no cell signal at all and the navigation still works.

I read somewhere that it won't re-route if you don't have data and make a wrong turn our there's a detour. Also read that you can save parts of the map to use offline, but they go on the cache and then disappear if you reboot. Not sure if either are true, but I like the idea of having the NavFree maps on the phone all the time.

4 Hour Cut Off

Hey,
So i have the note 4 and my gf and i like to fall sleep but after 4 hour the call cuts out is there a way to override this i have rooted my device etc. Were getting her a new Samsung s5 any ideas thanks guys.
I think the first thing I would try is using an app to keep the screen on on both phones and have both phones plugged in. And, definitely no power saver mode or battery saver apps.
Ah, the 4 hour phone calls. I remember those days... Weren't no such thing as a cellphone back then. If I'm on the phone more than 5 minutes these days, there's something wrong!
I believe this is a network feature and if it can be overridden, the carrier would have to do it
^^^^ exactly the way I feel haha
Damn 4hrs at one time to the same person.
Fair use policy?

I would try google voice and use a google voice number maybe that will keep u on
I haven't been able to find anything official on T-Mobile's site, but you'll see people on other phones (iPhones, Blackberry, etc...) complaining about the 4 hour limit. It's not a device issue, and there's no "block" on your account, it's just the way T-Mobile's network works.
The only thing I can recommend (apart from switching carriers, obviously) is a Hangouts voice call. If you both have Hangouts installed on your phone you can initiate a voice call and have no time limit. Just make sure you're on WiFi (or an unlimited data plan) since it uses data, not minutes.
