I went back to stock using motox toolkit and then I installed recovery...I want to stay at stock but I want to install update which I downloaded zip....How do I install zip In recovery are there any
Option for updating phone in twrp2.6.3.1 or do I just flash zip as normal
.

At first you need to extract your zip file. then you can install it...
The OTA update file is downloads folder...so I extract the update file in downloads folder and then go in recovery and install it...

An update.zip, an OTA, is installed as is, usually from stock recovery.
I tried to install zip through recovery but it says failed....I read in android forums that there would be an option saying UPDATE FROM SD CARD but couldn't find in recovery twrp2.6.3.1 ...

On my xt907 root had to be hidden too. Not sure of the X but pretty sure it is same.
---------- Post added at 12:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:39 PM ----------
If unlocked, There use recovery tools to flash the stock recovery.img you should find around here. Then hide root. Of course you need all bloat put back too
---------- Post added at 12:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:46 PM ----------
If not unlocked then you must disable & uninstall SS, at least the xt907 needed it.

Sorry. On the X, ota update zip files can only be installed via stock recovery. They can not be installed via twrp, cwm, or such.
So I unroot the device and then update to latest KitKat version and then root ITT..?

K. First, your boot loader IS unlocked? Correct?
If so....
The easiest thing to do if you're trying to update to 4.4.2 is to flash the firmware you are currently on, from fastboot or with rsdlite. This will put you completely stock, ROM and recovery if you do it correctly. Then when you boot into the system, it will ask you to update through ota. Do that and install. Done.
Then you can root again.
If you indeed have an unlocked boot loader that is.
Just use the guide in the link already posted above. "Return to stock"
Or check the rsdlite thread and do it that way.
You might want to backup apps and data and move it to a PC first. If you care to.
---------- Post added at 01:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:59 PM ----------
You can try to flash the stock recovery and then get the ota...but other root changes you may have made will make it fail also.
---------- Post added at 01:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:08 PM ----------
Here is the guide. I thought it was already posted....but it isn't.

Hey all! I have (had) a rooted HTC one.
In an attempt to install an Android 4.3 ROM, I've got my phone in 1 of 2 stages.
I have TWRP
When I tried to download the 4.3 ROM and reboot, it takes me back to the bootloader screen. If i try reboot, it continuity takes me back to this screen.
If i go to recovery, and attempt to wipe & backup, it says successful, however, upon a reboot, it goes through the motions, but android nor apps never loads and in about 20 seconds, the phone restarts and continues this process over and over again..
Can anyone help me just get my phone back please?
I feel like somethings just missing or do i need to factory reset?

Jaywill I did the exact same thing as you did, followed the wrong root guide to upgrade 4.3 on htconeroot. I too get booted into the bootloader screen consistently and after a factory reset/recovery it's stuck in a bootloop.

It took me 8 hours last night to fix it, I eventually had to resort to relocking my bootloader and install the 1.29 RUU. Phone seems to work fine now.

I did lose everything on my phone. I didn't had much on it though since I've only had the phone for two weeks.
The course of action is this:
First connect phone to your computer and get ADB going (hopefully you had USB debugging on)
Then follow this guide to get S-OFF and relock bootloader, make sure you booted into recovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44243635
Then download RUU from this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250904
and install on your PC.

that's the part i don't get is where do i find/access the adb?
First off I'm assuming you have the android SDK installed on your PC since you have rooted phones before.
You probably need a driver for your PC to recognize the phone. The one I used is this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2263822
But you can also download and install the HTC Sync
Once your PC recognizes your phone and you are booted into recovery you can push ADB and fastboot commands to your phone.

I'm uploading the backup files and will post the link in a little bit. The folder contains the files for twrp recovery with the recovery log, recovery image, system image, and boot image, I didn't upload the data so that you could have a clean install and wouldn't get my passwords and stuff

Wondering if somewhere I accidentally loaded something for a different version of the phone. When in bootloader it says it is looking for a file that isn't 0P6BIMG it says it's looking for 0P6BDIAG. Anyone experienced this before?
It's looking for both of those file names and a few more, are you putting it on the root of your sd card
Sent from my 831C using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yeah, putting it on the root of the sd card like I have a bunch of times but it can't find the right file. I know on my previous phones the ".zip" didn't have to be added to the file name as it was a hidden component but I've tried it both with the .zip added and without and still no luck.
My phone will eventually find it and some small little loading bar pops up on the side but then it goes away and goes back to the previous screen. lost myself
are you trying to flash the h/k firmware? If so is your CID set to 11111111. If you don't have super cid it wont flash because its the not the correct region for your phone. You'll have to set super cid and try again
Or, take the Android infotext from a Sprint m8 Rom and replace it in the zip...I will make a flashable for you

I'm curious as well! Haven't seen a guide around
Would also like this answered!
Same here! I took the upgrade before i knew better, now i am stuck in LP land? How can I get back to 4.4 and root my phone?
Thanks!
If you took the ota your **** out of luck. If your rooted 5.1 you can go back
I'm not responsible for anything, blah blah blah. I have done this on my Droid Turbo though, and it worked. Credit to mattlgroff for this.
1. Download this http://batakang.com/ftp/TurboTools/TurboFixEmUpKitkat.zip (if the link is down, let me know and I will mirror it)
2. Boot your phone into fastboot (bootloader) mode. Since you're rooted and on 5.1, I'm assuming you know how to do this.
3. Extract the zip file from step 1 into the same folder that contains fastboot.exe on your computer. I'm also assuming that you have fastboot set up already.
4. Plug your phone into the computer.
5. Double click on the batch file included with the zip.
Done. You should be back to stock 4.4.4.
Thanks. I did the same and it worked. I am back on cf 1.5.5cc. It's great to be back on kit kat.

http://rootjunkysdl.com/?device=Adb Fastboot Files download the adb files. Then under droid turbo firmware dl the su2-12 firmware. Place the 4 fastboot files in with the unzipped contents of the firmware. Then run batch files. It'll get you back to su2-12 4.4.4. Then if you have root you can mofo flash a kit kat img.

I was on 5.1.1 then I rooted my phone with kingroot mobile app and flashed cwm recovery with flashify and was using custom rom.. Later few days back I reverted back to stock kitkat I.e. flashed flashable zip via cwm n then flashed stock recovery with flashify. I'm not that much of an expert, but i think kingoroot actually changes the system files so much that future ota updates are affected. Better to root by flashing update.zip from SD card after downloading latest version or else use All in one toolbox or Android One toolkit.
By this way we can just unroot from superuser and install update using custom recovery rather than having to flash whole rom. (if update doesn't install like in this case. It worked for me without any extra hassle)

I am facing from the same issue. I was rooted.. But then I factory reset the phone so now, Root should technically be gone. Before doing factory reset, I had also removed root from the SU app. Still, when I try to install OTA update, I am getting an error. So I Captured the OTA and then tried to flashed the zip via recovery as well as ADB Sideload. Both of them gave the same error at the Verifying Current System stage:
Verifying current system...
"/system/bin/install-recovery.sh" has unexpected contents.
E:Error in /sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)
Installation Aborted
The same error occurs every time via both flashing methods. Any idea guys??
Thanks

Yes , you can. But it takes a lot of time and lot of data. Amd if the process is unsucessful then we have to download 409mb again and again. Save data save money save time.
