Pi Benchmarks going here - Motorola Atrix HD

I recently unlocked my bootloader, trying to get a faster/feature packed ROM, but then use xposed framework to get some tweaking done. Unfortunately that kills performance, so I started looking into other ways of tweaking with kernel flashing.
@arrrghhh, thank you for the kernel to allow me to get some great speed without much battery loss
Anyways, back to topic, I wanna see how fast you have made your moto go. Use either screen, but your main score I will look at is 10 mil.

Fully working Roms

I hate to do this but there is so much conflicting info out there on different rom's.
I am just looking for a rom that I can use that everything works on and is stable without the verizon bloat wear. I don't care about the latest version or anything I just want a fully working vanilla rom. Any help would be appreciated.
I am interested in eclipse 3.0 does all the hardware work on it?
Yes. It is, by far, the best GB-based rom out there. The only feature that doesn't function is the text reply to missed calls. I think Nitro had planned to fix that, but I'm not sure whether he ever got around to it.
Eclipse is a great stable rom. Always has been. There are many themes for it also, but if I were you I would go to rooted stock .232 ICS and just remove the bloat yourself. It seems to be stable and works very well but you lose the ability to OC. .232 will either keep you at 1ghz or automatically bump you to 1.2ghz. It just depends on your cpu. I'm on the .232 ICS leak and rooted with init.d support. I removed all the crap I never use and have pulldown toggles ( notification toggles app) that are easily themed and work just like those in a custom rom. I have 9 cpu governors to choose from at any given time along with the new sio i/o scheduler(it's an extra download). I am also running init.d scripts from various custom roms to make it fly. AOKP and CM9 have there issues but the .232 ICS leak does not. Even if you don't do all the tweaks I have done, ICS has a better user experience, and is far quicker than any GB based rom. IMO GB is dead. If you don't like the leak you can always go back to GB and get eclipse but I would give it a try. If you have any questions on ICS let me know.

I have been running .232 as well, but have found it very slow at times, compared to the leak based ROMs (CM9, AOKP, or liquidsmooth). However, I haven't liked running those due to their bugs. I was wondering what scripts you are running on .232 to speed it up.
You can pull the scripts from your favorite rom and run those. The scripts may not be able to execute all of there lines as they may need other files in the rom in which they rely on. Cron, liberty, are a few that may be needed. After you run them, find the data log for the scripts and see what line failed to run and what file it was relying on. Very few lines will fail in any given script. It's really not that big of a deal. You really won't be missing much on performance.
1. Download a rom based on 232, and pull the scripts and run them with init.d
2. Gets some overclock going
3. Get some good governors and tweak them for performance.
4. Motomizer expert is a great app to get! You can OC and set memory management, which is in many scripts.
5. Move all the crap you don't need from your sdcard to sdcard-ext. It makes a big difference.
6. Debloat if you haven't already.
7. Use a cache cleaner.
8. Set your sdcard to 2048kbs
9. If you don't have rom toolbox then get it. You can tackle many speed tweaks in there also.
The init scripts mainly deal with gov adjustments, memory management, time based management(cron), and sysctl settings.
Most roms use most of the same generic scripts that everyone else uses.

Rooted Ace: To keep or not to keep (Stock ROM)

Alright. I've searched the forums for 4 hours trying to find different answers to my questions and I haven't had success in all. So, in case I'm that much of an idiot for asking a question that's been answered 1000 times, I'll be happy if you point me in the right direction instead of "politely" asking me to use the search button .
My GF bought an Ace which we were unable to root until we stumbled across the fact the 5830M differs from other models in some ways. We finally got it done yesterday with the help of this thread (I should add the her sole intention of rooting the phone was to expand her Ace's internal memory to be able to install more apps). and we are supposed to partion her SD card (32GB) today. However, after going through so many threads, and deciding CWM will do the partition, we are now unsure about wether we should switch ROM's or keep stock.
So, my question is: Is there any disadvantage of having a rooted phone with its stock ROM? Or better yet: Is there a reason as to why I SHOULD change ROM's?
Thanks in advance.
Hey there,
At this time, there are 3 custom ROMs that are truly different: Razodroid, Retribution ROM and the rest of the deodexed ROMs (2 or 3, I believe).
Let's take each on its own:
Razodroid offers the following:
EXT4 File System
Link2sd
New lock screen
Hard root
Bravia engin
14toogle
Galaxy SII CloCk
New icon pack
Custom bootanimation
Defult *ICS* theme
Ext4 script
Msg limit increased n skins added
Tweaks added
Miui music player added
New google play
All apps updated
New tw Modded
Busybox(latest)
New Launcher
ICS keyboard
Deodex
Zip Aligned System Apps
Sign all apk n zip
Swipe To Clear Notification
Battery saver Tweak
Better Performance
Battery Life increased
Faster SDCARD Read/Write Speed

In other words, it will bring you a slight performance boost, more juice, a different look and some (currently buggy/not so smooth) new features such as swipe to clear or 14 toggles.
Retribution ROM has less features. It's mostly about performance, but it's still in a beta stage, so there's more to come:
Smooth Scroll Mod
Build.prop tweaks
Flash Player pre-included
Beats Audio Mod pre-included
Updated libs and modules for better perfomance
Completely ad-free

Both of these ROMs come along with Rafael's kernel, which adds support to init.d, iptables and cpu governors, among other features. They're useful for running scripts at boot, using firewalls (e.g. DroidWall) and changing the phone's governor (as the name suggests).
Last comes the deodexed ROMs that have no additional features. As any deodexed ROM, they remove odex files, giving you some extra internal space (at the cost of a slight performance hit) and allow easier theming, allowing you to get, for example, an ICS (deodexed) theme for the S5830I (it's made by rajrocks, search for it if you're interested).
To sum it up, there are no disadvantages of having a rooted phone with the stock ROM. Actually, you have almost no reason to get a custom ROM unless you're interested in the new features they bring, especially that performance/battery tweaks can be applied using scripts or manually without needing a custom ROM, if you know what you're doing.
EDIT: You should however consider getting Rafael's latest kernel for the reasons mentioned above: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818830
Very detailed answer. Thanks!
TBH, I think we'll just keep the current ROM (if it was up to me, I'd be tweaking the hell out of the phone) seeing that it isn't really necessary. If we do, we'll be picking option # 1.
Thanks again.
The only disadvantage of installing a custom rom (i think) is the bigger chance of losing your phone's warranty

Best answer I can give: It depends.
Other than that, it's not allowed to start some discussions like best/worst ROM, cause usually they are made for different needs.
Get an oversight of some ROMs (not all available for the i9305).
I can tell you my experience and OmniROM was a rock solid ROM for me with Android 4.4.4, not that feature rich. But you can add features with Xposed framework up to KitKat. On Lollipop you cannot use Xposed yet. Also, the Lollipop ROMs are not stable yet imo. Nevertheless I use the Nameless ROM 2.0, which is working not bad, having some battery issues, but no other probs. However, it's not a reliable daily driver yet, therefore it's beta.

Honestly, for me needs Omni ROM was fast and smooth enough for me. I did not use a custom kernel. You can boost some transitions within the launcher app (depends on the app, Apex, Nova Go Launcher Ex should do) or in the developer options (window animation scale, transition animation scale and animator duration scale), disable animations or you can lower the speed, what usually leads to a more fluid experience.
With kernel settings apps like Trickster Mod, Kernel Tuner or Kernel Tweaker you can improve your experience with the standard kernel even more - without overclocking. Check their Q&A or FAQ, helped me. You need root access to your device to change kernel settings. Flash SuperSU if not done already.
Hello, I have been trying to flash for 2 days now but still couldn't get it working.
Initially, my I9305 is running on stock without root. I wanted to root it and then install recovery and ROM.
And so I prepare the necessary files, and start to flash.
I used CF-Auto-Root to root my device first, then got Resurrection ROM and Gapps to flash.
Then I started to get some issue, as it always fail. Error message like no file context and so on. So I read online resources, and found out that I had a older version of TWRP installed which may cause the install.
I then tried to upgrade TWRP but it doesn't allow me to. No choice, I had to flash philz touch, and I did.
I then tried to flash Resurrection again, boot up, and it keep giving me bootloop. After which I downloaded nameless ROM, and CM11 but same issue.
Yesterday night, I downloaded the stock firmware to try. I flashed it, and it is successful based on ODIN, but it still won't boot up.
I just tried it again and it stuck on the Samsung logo screen.
Can anyone tell me what else to do? What I have to do?
This is the stock firmware that I have downloaded and flash - I9305XXUENH1_I9305EVRENH1_EVR.
Let me know what other information I have to provide.
Thanks!
Good work thanks
Volume increase
Hi guys,
I am trying to increase the volume on my phone and spent already hours on the Internet to find out how to do it. I have rooted my phone using CM auto root, installed superSU and ES File Explorer. I was trying to follow instructions to go to system files using this program and edit Snd_Soc_mSm or sound folder but it just doesnt appear on my phone? I was wondering if there is something I can do about or maybe I missed something, I really have no clue.
My phone parameters:
Samsung S3 i9305
Android 4.3
Baseband I9305XUENG1
Kernel 3.0.31-2051278
Build JSS15J.I9305XXUENH1
I would be really gratefull for any help or instructions.
Thanks
@LeoDeos did you check the fb issue?
Japanese S3
Any good news about Japanese variant of S3?
I try to compile but have error at the very beginning.
dear xda members.
I'm moving (as probably many already had) from i9000 to i9305 looking for decent audio experience.
To achieve that I need to find a perfect match between recovery, rom and kernel.
I've gone through the linked index topic as well as tens of other customization-related ones, but still have some basic questions.
Generally it's about the proper Boeffla sound-oriented kernel selection.
I've noted only one or few compilations of Boeffla kernel for i9305 so I give it up on the beginning.
Seems that AGNi is the only resort. But here come the doubts.
how to properly match the kernels from AGNi pureCM and PUREstock list base on information available in MAjor Custom Rom comparison database
If custom ROM is based on AOSP (as the stock rom is - see the table, row 7), does this mean I should go for PUREstock kernel? For example for OMNIrom 4.4.4 should I select pureSTOCK v5.9.3? If my understanding is correct for PACman rom (based on CM) I should go for pureCM kernel.
OR
pureSTOCK kernels are reserved for Samsung roms, and the custom ones should be paired with pureCM kernels?

I can truely recommend the "combination" you see in my signature block.

Now I'm using Bliss Pop some weeks ago. This is a great ROM, but one problem is the USB charging. If i use the radio in my car to charge the phone, its just slow down the discharge. So no up charging.
If I flash the agni kernel, to let me charging rates changeable, the phone is randomly freeze, or not wake up and screen is leave blank.
But this rom is the best for me, just this charging problems make me nervous.

Great to hear that you're happy with Bliss Pop. I personally found the right ROM for me and my device, too.
I'm also extremely happy with AGNi v4.5.5, especially as AGNi offers so many and easy to handle settings' possibilities and such a large variety of governors. In the past, I also experienced a few situations with random freezes, black screens etc.
I solved these issues in two ways:
First by playing with different governors, governor and GPU settings, touchboost, touch wake etc. etc. It took me quite a while till I found my current combination of settings, with which my devices now perfectly runs.
It's a pity but I eventually realise that I'd to de-install Xposed and the one and only Xposed module I ran, XPrivacy.
Since I did both above, my SGS3LTE is running so smoothly and really without any problems.
Did you already played a bit with other kernel settings than charging rates?

best rom/kernel for casual use (net/video/small games)

Hello
So, i have a p7310. It was broken for 2 years (touch screen) but i succeed to replace it.
Now, since one month, i try to find the best ROM for my use : reading news and see videos the morning when i drink my coffee and playing small games when i go to the toilet
I tried lollipop (last rom from jolienard, thanks to the work!). Very smooth but videos doesn't work well
I tried old roms (for example CM11 unofficial). Videos are ok but performance are so bad compared to lollipop! (even with oc at 1400)
So which rom / kernel would be the best for me?
thanks by advance!
as nobody answered, i have to do the job by myself
The bench methodology is the following
factory reset
install ROM
install Gapps (if not included)
install supersu 2.46 (if not included)
boot
install antutu
install pcmark
install set cpu (set on boot, max 1400, interactive, deadline)
reboot
pcmark test
antutu test
Results are:
Last Jolinnard/Decaft ROM work perfectly for my usu. Thanks to them!!!
Have you tried comparing these results to the stock ICS (pure stock and modified [rooted, debloated, init.d scripts, etc.])?

Anyone knows where to find it?
new test with ICS and .... ICS win !!! But it's too hard to use it. So i stay on kitkat liquidsmooth
any chance you could share this rom: aosp-5.1.0-p5wifi-20150403 I can't find it anywhere anymore.

Custom Kernel and LKT module Magisk?

Hello everyone, I have a strong doubt. If you installed in a custom ROM (complete with a custom kernel), the magisk LKT module (with various kernel kits for the battery or performance); somehow the kernel would be compromised? Ie it's better with a custom kernel, do not install this module or install it anyway? Thanks to those who will answer
You asked like this, no one answered you. The developer made up the module to increase everyone's performance. The right one for you to choose is just that.
I have seen that the Developer has had mention, that it will work on "Any" Kernel !
With that said, I have and do use this, although, it has not been long. Trying to see, "IF" it helps or hurts the custom kernel .
I will say, that, if there is anything bad, I will test again without a modded kernel...
Guess is short, give it a try, it may help.. may not, can always uninstall and reboot...
I am using oxygen kernel on j7 2016 and lkt is working fine.
Tested LKT onGoogle Pixel with Franco Kernel and King Kernel, so far so good on balanced profile.
One time started lagging as hell on a version of King Kernel even with performance profile, I think because of some kernel features related to battery saving or boot tweaks, as far as I know they can conflict.
seems become slow or laggy. i dont know if this is the cause. i played mobile legend in the previous version my ping is 20-40ms after i installed the update in became 120ms-180ms.. So i try to uninstall the latest version.. Reboot then install previous version reboot played mobile legend and it goes back to 20-40ms ping.
