Hi
I discovered today that my 18 month old Razr I is starting to have a bulging battery. I can see a slight bulge if I look closely on the back side.
I believe the phone was once lying flat on a table, now the Kevlar is touching the table.
Do you also have that?
The battery seems to be otherwise still ok.

Change the battery if it's growing. Seriously it it's starts growing it can be twice fatter after few months.

I just got the 2150 htc battery and back and i notice a pretty annoying squeak on the right side. anyone had this problem and/or have a solution?
Now since you mention it, I did notice part of it not closing all the way- but no actual squeak. I mean, it is snug on there but there's a little part near the middle on one side that just isn't flat against the phone.
I have a case over on top of it so it's not an issue for me, I guess that could be a solution but only if you want a case to go with your phone.
Hi everyone.
I got my mint Droid 4 from ebay a couple of days ago, and I found out that the only thing wrong with it is that the lower corner where the speaker grill is on the battery cover won't stay down when it's slid into the phone. It's as if the plastic that holds onto the tab on the battery cover is broken.
not the battery cover "leg" itself, but something inside the phone seems to not get a good "grip" on the piece coming off the battery cover.
is this common, and no way to fix easily?
AHHH! nevermind, found out that it's actually the leg that is rising up off the battery cover. seems like it's about to fall off. time for some super glue to hold it down!
Often you have to look there you recently have made corrections
I've had an HTC One M7 since september 2013. I've replaced it with an LG G4 last July, but it remained in use for extra game accounts (mostly Clash of Clans) and has sat on my desk in its otterbox for the last 7 months and has not left that desk or been used for anything else but those games. This phone has never been dropped, either.
Tonight, I was dropping trophies on this clash of clans account when I suddenly noticed an orange discoloration on the lower left portion of the screen. It persisted when I hit home and navigated other screens. Puzzled, I looked closer and noticed the screen is bowing out. I can see a small gap starting to form at the center between the glass and the phone's bezel. I can even push it down a little and it comes back up. I took it out of its case and it looks pretty bad.
I have no idea what's causing it to do this suddenly, I haven't mishandled the phone ever. Even worse so, what would cause this if the phone has been pretty much sitting in one place for 7 months? Some basic googling about the problem reveals that this can happen if the battery is swelling. The phone DOES get really hot when I play any game on it, but it always was this way... HTC One M7 seems to be a heat generator. Could my battery actually be swelling? Is there an easy way to tell that this is the reason, and not just the screen's glue wearing off or whatever they used to keep it in the bezel? From what I understand, this phone's battery could explode and either harm me or set fire to my area. I have taken it off the battery charger and turned the phone off and plan to leave it that way until I figure out what's going on.
This HTC One was bought from an AT&T store and was a part of my plan with them, and I'm using its original charging cable. I have run a battery statistics app on the phone and it claims to be in good health, though the operating temperature was kinda high, at 114 F. But do keep in mind I was just running a game moments before.
Can anyone help shed light on how I can figure out what's wrong and possibly fix it? Given the HTC One doesn't have a removable battery, I'm guessing I am down one android device and thus no longer have a unique device to maintain the game accounts... I don't know what to do, or how worried I should be about this.
Hi,
The battery is replaceable, it's just a pain and will take a bit of research and time. I've replaced the screen and battery on mine with no damage whatsoever to the case.
I have a new camera and top speaker waiting to go into my m7 now as I have the purple tint and fuzzy audio issues. My m7 is a Frankenstein phone as it is due to a black front and silver back.
Check out the various you tube videos on tear down. You will have to dissemble the entire phone as the battery is behind the screen. I found you need a guitar pick a Philips 00 screwdriver (I think that's the size) and a plastic pry tool. If your phone is glued shut then work in the pick and wait a few minutes then work it in a little further. The glue seems to release with no damage if you let it slowly separate under slight pressure and don't force it.
If it's your battery that's swelling then I'd hold off using it. Lithium batteries are scary when they malfunction.
Good luck!

Just out of curiosity has anyone able to find a fix for this issues as well any flashable Zips out there? I've been having this phone for a very long time even though I still can't resolve my issues with the noice on the top speaker as well with the sudden shut down when on 40% to 30% gets me frustrated but I still love my Nexus 6 I wish there was a fix these issue I can't send mine for repair since it expired of the warranty!
Your issues with the speakerphone and sudden shutdowns are unrelated. The speakerphone issue was fixed some time ago in custom ROMs, and if I recall correctly was never present in stock. Your shutdown issue is because your battery is worn out. You'll need to replace it.
Yep, bad battery, had to replace mine at the start of the year, if it's at 30-40% don't expect much more out of it, the battery can't put out the required voltage the system needs to hit clock speeds. Could limit clock speeds for a very temp fix if desperate lol.
Far as the battery goes, my advice is get one that's already bent into shape / curved. I made the mistake of getting a flat one and had to curve it myself which is basically impossible. Turns out the funny thing with the Nexus 6 is the shape of the battery fully dictates the shape of the midframe, if it's not perfect then the midframe bends to match the battery not the other way around, and you can imagine what this does to the entire phone since having a warped midframe + battery will make the entire device to fit the same form. Sitting mine on a level surface it is clear it is no longer straight. I've tried to redo it many times but repeatedly bending a battery is not very advisable :-/ lol.

Ah alright thanks for the advice I had mine for a long time and it hasn't been doing that and now I noticed the speaker crackle and sudden shut downs even when playing Clash of clans I hear static on the top speaker and it shuts down :/ making me annoyed it's settled that I'll replace my battery I don't want to get a new phone just yet because I surely do love the N6! It's one of my all time favorite Phablet!
I'm unhappy with my battery life. While it did work 2-3 days with 4-5h SoT at best before I now get around 25-35% in the evening. Not suitable for another day.
So either the battery is done for or the software has become way way worse.

Battery Replacement does seem possible. So has anyone done it? Did it help?
Yes. I have done a complete screen replacement as well as the battery. I didn't need to watch out for a screen as it were completely destroyed. Yup, you're right about the battery, probably it needs to be replaced. I have a neat trick to help you with screen removal. Take a plastic bottle, cut a small rectangle from it (around 4x6cm should be enough) and then round those sharp corners with some scissors so there won't be any sharp edges left. Once you've that done, take your freshly cut plastic card and insert it into bottom gap (where speaker is). You could use a suction cup to raise the glass a little bit. And slice the adhesive around the screen. Ofc be careful not to push it too far to not damage screen ribbon. Watching teardown videos is crucial as you don't wanna pierce or rip apart the screen ribbon. if you want more information about this, feel free to ask As putting everything together - I recommend buying original lcd adhesive for xz2, it's simple and the screen stays on as well as original.
*#*#7378423#*#* go into this service menu then the battery health test, it tells you current max. capacity and health status whether if you need to replace or not.
battery replacement should be relatively easy since it is held down by screws not adhesive, be careful when opening up the phone you may damage the LCD also make sure you clean all the left adhesive residue before applying the new sticker or B7000 glue to the frame
I don't trust those numbers. That's the Problem here...
@Verity.
Did you realize any difference in Battery life before and after the change?
Certainly. I bought used battery as it was cheap and as the old one was quite worrying on the outside. I immediately noticed the difference (especially in sot) so with the new battery you should feel the difference even more.
Not sure if the degradation of the battery is good or bad...
After fully charging now:
And one of the earliest from 2018

That's pretty normal. Every battery has a lifespan. It's depended on temperature, usage but the most important factor is the charging cycles. After x cycles battery loses it's capacity. It's due to chemical reactions inside of it and there's nothing you could do about it. Until solid state batteries will come out, you will have to change the battery once 2-3 years.
So yeah....
I've done it and i'm not happy
