Android 5.0 on Nexus 5 - Nexus 5 General

L = 50, so does L stand for 5.0?
Android 5 + Nexus 5 = Perfect combo
http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/0...-l-release-show-up-in-chromium-issue-tracker/

Yes, L will most likely be 5 or 4.5

My money is on 4.5

Why not? A new phone probably wont be announced but rumors have been pointing to a possible tablet. Google has announced tablets at Google I/O in the past. And a new version of android usually comes with it.

last year for example no new versione of android was announced

Latest news says that there will be no new phone or tablet but there will be a new android version 5.0 with Quantum Paper and new flat design of all OS also with removed dalvik runtime so ART is default now and also deep google now integration

And in 2012 at I/O they introduced jelly bean and the first nexus 7 tablet. With jelly bean came project butter, expandable notifications, Google Now, and other new features, it was quite a big update.

The Nexus 5 was announced and released in October 2013. Google I/O 2013 was in May.

4.5 or 5.0, who cares, it's just a number. What matters is what it brings, lol.

Oh okay so sorry my bad thanks for taking me to the right route

Now, that said, we are "due" for a new version...
4.0 - October 2011
4.1 - June 2012 (8 months)
4.2 - November 2012 (5 months)
4.3 - July 2013 (8 months)
4.4 - October 2013 (3 months)
We're currently at 8 months since the last major release, and that's the longest they've gone over the past three years.

That's what it sounds like. He said they will "Preview" it. But hopefully the source gets released and devs here can take it and make a build for us. Hopefully. I don't want to be teased with it and have to wait until the fall to have it on my phone.

I have heard this rumor too (e.g. at gsmarena), however being that there wasn't so many updates since, I think it might be just a rumor.
There was this rumour making the rounds a while ago that the White N4, along with 4.3 was due to be announced on June 10. And that the white ones will be the first to ship with 4.3
Maybe the 4.3 will be released tomorrow, who knows, the point with that can bee the release of a new iOS 7 from Apple, lets see..its comes sooner or later

I expect nothing, so all that comes is wellcome. And for those that ask where this rumour comes from, it comes from a Android&Me "reliable source". He was the one that said that a white nexus was coming on July 10th, and indeed he had one before anyone.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/0...me-said-to-launch-june-10th-with-android-4-3/
There's also the Reuters leak about a Nexus 7 successor coming on July, that could be ship android 4.3 so who knows.
http://www.theverge.com/2013/4/3/4177664/nexus-7-tablet-successor-in-july-reuters
And more recently, those HTC T6 (phablet) that supposedly will arrive with "next version of android KLP" and a Snapdragon 800 chipset.
The only thing that will happen tonight for sure is the season finale of Game of Thrones.
i can confirm that 4.3 should be released tomorrow. i finished fixing some bugs AOSP devs made, and pushed the final version to Google today. they should start rolling the OTA by tomorrow :good:

I think most of us would be expecting the new n7 and android 4.3..TBH i'm not so excited about 4.3, i think it would probably be just a maintenance update, which i think is a wrong move for google cause IOS 7 was just released a few weeks ago and in my opinion google should release something big like android 5.0 that will bring a whole new UI to actually compete with IOS 7..(although IOS 7 sucks lol)..just my opinion..

I say somewhere that they were inviting people "for breakfast"... Which hints at a food. When they do that it typically means they're referring to a new android release. We always assumed 5.0 would be Key lime pie. Perhaps its a breakfast item beginning with a K. Maybe Special K cereal or something lol.
The next Android release was never stated it would be 5.0. Perhaps the next "K" release is just 4.3, maybe 5.0.
I don't really care TBH. The next N7 will have some sort of update and should be good. I would expect that they would be focusing a lot on their Google Now design since lots of updated apps from I/O are now using it.
You'd think they'd update the major build to describe the year. This is the nexus' 5th year (Nexus 5) so should have 5.0 (KISS).

I'm actually extremely excited for 4.3 and 5.0 because 4.3 delivers gpu optimization and new touchscreen drivers for my Nexus 4 and 5.0 delivers dalvik vm changes that will greatly increase android fluidity

Man, I think you don't know what you're saying.
I had Xperia PLAY too for a very VERY long time. Almost since it was released. You should be happy they didn't update the phone to 4.0. ICS on Xperia PLAY sucked and almost everyone knows that games were slower and less compatible. Also ICS was g*y on 2011 Xperia phones. Slow, laggy, with many bugs. Now my girlfriend use my XPLAY and she's proud of it. "Very fast phone" she says. And she wouldn;t be able to say that on ICS. Sony did the best thing they could to provide the best GAMING experience from the phone designed for GAMES.
Xperia T, TX, V are the phones for... everyone. So I think if they write they upgrade these phones, they'll do this. It's even more convincing because they wrote 4.3 rollout will begin in the next month. So probably they already have 4.3 working on Ts, TXs and Vs and want to fix some bugs before they release it.

What are briefly the real world improvements with 4.3 vs 4.2? Or 4.1?
Finally, the bond phone get the update to Jelly Bean 4.3 (especially Xperia TX). Although not Kitkat 4.4, but I already feel happy for this.

According to Google's support policy, devices receive two years of support from their release date. The Nexus 6 won't hit two years until November 2016. So yes, the Nexus 6 should get Android 7.0. It should also receive Android 7.0 security updates for some time afterward.
Fortunately, these are Nexus devices. Custom ROM support should keep them going for much longer.
EDIT: @mikeprius beat me to it. LOL.
I made a mistake. It's 2 years for software updates, but 3 years for security updates.
My money's on yes
obvious answer is yes.. nexus 6 is still very capable.. probably until P..
