Hi I was at the beach and forgot my phone was in my pocket and stupidly walked into the ocean :crying:
I put it into rice for a few days and dried it off but it doesn't turn on. The only thing that happens is if I plug it into the USB, a green light blinks on and off and it keeps vibrating. What does it mean? Is it saveable?

Yeah they do, judging by posts I saw on Sprint's community forum.
Thanks. Btw I'm actually thinking about getting the M8. I backed up my HTC One M7 on my Mac with HTC Sync. Can I restore my backup onto a new HTC One M8?

Does anyone know if Sprint can recover data from a water damaged phone like mine? I took a lot of photos on it during my trip to Europe but since it doesn't have an microsd card it's all internal. Just curious if anyone knows.

i was using spb mobile dvd to put a movie on my phone. i did not save it to the memory card bu to my phones main memory and the phone began to run slow. So i moved the file from main memory to memory card and phone still performed sluggishly. after removing file completely, touch screen became unresponsive. i've flashed every rom made for kaiser aka tytn II, every radio rom, everything you could possibly do. my screen is still dead. HELP!

i doubt that
Totally unrelated issues to me.
I agree that copying a movie to your phone's internal memory would not kill the digitizer. It seems like you just had an unrelated issue pop-up at the same time.
The sluggishness... sure, because the phone ran out of memory. But not the screen.

The digitizer could have just failed. If you are within 30 days, go back to and AT&T store and exchange it for a new phone. If your after 30 days, you can roll the dice with the quality of a refurb phone that the warranty group will send you.

Do you know anybody with AT&T? If so, have them pop their SIM into the phone, let it register on the AT&T network, and then have them call AT&T's warranty group and get a replacement Tilt shipped out.

So I've never posted here before but been using the tips and tricks from the MDA all the way through nexus one.
Anyway, last Wednesday night i had a few too many drinks and my phone suffered a cracked LCD.
Sent my phone to HTC and what came back was a COMPLETELY stock, LOCKED boot loader. still my phone, because i marked the phone's internals with my initials before i sent it out. I called HTC and they said my phone still has a warranty.
just an FYI
Anyone else experience this?
What "internals" did you mark? Most likely it's not the same phone.
Could be same phone, different motherboard.
a referb motherboard would make some sense, I just marked the internal battery tray area with some initials.
This may be a silly question, but wouldn't my device #s be different if they changed out the motherboard? everything still matches the original imei and s/n both on the physical placard and in adb...
Let me know if this is a dumb question...
but why would they replace the mobo in response to a cracked AMOLED screen?

my guess is they probubly flash the whole phone back to stock for testing. Its easier to troubleshoot when you eliminate all outside variables. They prob replaced the screen, used a .img file to flash everything back to stock including the SPL, which would account for the relocked bootloader, and tested to make sure the new screen was working correctly. Am i correct in assuming that all your apps and settings were reset too?

Your not the first to have a re-locked bootloader. Everyone that sent their phone in for repair gets their bootloader re-locked.

I sent my unlocked bootloader back and HTC gave me a replacement for free. They didn't charge me anything. They even deemed it as a "software issue".
so u can send ur phone in for the dust under the screen? Whats the turn around on that. And Id be pissed if they re locked my ****. I dont wanna do all that again. Id have to tell them not to ...lol
My dust isnt bad.. only noticeable when screen the screen is in sleep mode in a well lit place.

Hey me too!+++++
Iam a rough kinda guy and thought a gell case would do for protection so i took it to work and didnt even know i dented the back where the sim card is at with a sledge hammer!..bamm SOOOO I cracked the inside of the guts in the phone.. and sent it in for repairs right? I told the HTC tech that I had dust under the screen which I did and told em that the the screen crack from the inside was from constient temp change.... they charge me 130 to fix and I told them to keep the f**cking phone cuz when I had it ,it was all dusty and those bend test and all the videos of it being rugged was **** and was always swichin 3g and ****. so 2 days later I get my phone back .and looks ****in brand new.. the best part is 2 days later after I got it back theres an extra 150 in my account and its from google .130+20 cuz the tech hold fee.. sick uh?
So, if it still somehow the same phone, could it be possible that they simply reflashed something on top of the phone to relock its bootloader?
Meaning it IS possible.

Hi guys this is probably insane but my phone get deep scratches on all 4 sides because of a stupid cover so now I want to replace this phone and I think a hard brick is the only way so can u guys pls tell me how to brick my phone I m on stock 2.3.5.
And guys pls let me know that if I hard brick my phone thrgh your suggested method. HTC will replace and give me a new cell or not?
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA App
The only way I know of to properly screw your phone is to flash an incompatible radio, but even then I'm not sure that HTC will replace it. First time I've come across someone who actually wants to bork their phone!
Downgrade to froyo. That will completely **** it.
Edit: HTC will probably replace the motherboard, almost as good as a new phone.
For what I known (at least in my country) phones are replaced with a new one if it has less than 7 or 14 days, after that they will repair your phone...
A myth through the web say that you could screw you phone by putting it in the micro-wave for a few seconds (obviously without battery); some people tell that it's detectable, others not, others say only if you cook for long time...
Thank you guys but I want more and exact suggestions by which HTC can replace my cell not only motherboard...I m from india.
Does anyone have an exact idea and yeah one more thing how to flash a radio.

I don't think its worth the trouble, of you deliberately brick it, they will either not fix it, or maybe replace the motherboard.
Maybe you can take it somewhere to get the casing replaced? You can buy that sort of stuff in eBay

Yeah, this is what happened to my IncS. It was little less than a month old when my wife dropped it on hard ground. The ambient light sensor went berserk, and the phone would restart every few minutes. Took it to a HTC center here in B'lore, and they gave me a new IncS In fact, I was given the choice to take any HTC phone for the same price.
Good luck if you decide on doing the same
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
HTC IncS, now on MIUI. Was on Cyanogenmod, VirtuousQuattro RC3/4, and something else before that
so they didn't ask why the light sensor went bad ? i mean does HTC replace a handset if it is damaged due to human error or natural causes?

I never told them I dropped it But of course, unlike in your case, my phone did not have too many scratches on it. Very few, actually. The only apparent problem with it was the light sensor.

You should've reset that RELOCKED flag to just LOCKED while it was S-OFF. If you S-OFF it again you can still do that. I guess at this point HTC already blacklisted it though. Did you use Firewater?

Don't know how hard it is to open the M8 up but you can try finding a bad esn M8 and swap the motherboard out. Just a suggestion....may not be worth the work ?
Hello,
My wife dropped her phone last night and the screen is dead.
She had no backup through google+ or anything and every photo taken of our 3 month old is inside of the phone.
I took it to a shop who hooked her motherboard into my moto x screen and they said it turned on but it had the android logo with a question mark and said that means it is fried. USB debugging is not turned on. When I plug into PC it is unspecified. Says fastboot ghost S. Motorola drivers are installed.
I have used this forum a lot and brought my tf-101 back from the dead multiple times so I am throwing a hail mary hoping someone on here can help with this issue.
I am in Tempe.
