Can you #MakeAwesomeHappen? Your app idea could win a Pebble and a trip to our 2nd Annual Developer Retreat in Mountain View, CA!
For those who haven’t kept up with the wearables market over the last year or so, you may not be aware of Pebble. Pebble is the smartwatch that 68,000+ people brought to life, crowdfunding a record $10.3MM on Kickstarter, and put wearable technology on the map. With a vibrant developer community and thriving ecosystem, Pebble is the platform for the best and brightest wearable apps. Pebble SDK 2 invites developers to build unique, delightful, and practical apps that push the boundaries of what smartwatches can do.
The XDA – Pebble Developer Challenge is a 3-week competition – your opportunity to pitch your proposal for the best Pebble app and bring it to life with a Pebble of your own. We’ll be awarding Pebbles to the 20 best app proposals in order to give even first time developers a chance to work on our platform. Of the 20 proposals that we select, the best 3 Pebble apps created will be invited to attend the 2014 Pebble Developer Retreat in October and we’ll give them each a Pebble Steel.
Here’s how the competition is going to go:
Round 1 (July 21 – August 15, 2014):
Developers around the world are invited to submit a proposal for an app they want to build with Pebble’s SDK 2.
A panel of judges from both XDA and Pebble will select 20 Finalists, based on the proposals’ innovation and originality.
The 20 Finalists will each receive one Pebble smartwatch to develop their apps on.
Round 2 (August 15 – September 12, 2014):
Finalists have 3 weeks to develop their apps and submit them for Grand Prize consideration.
A panel of judges from both XDA and Pebble will select 2 Grand Prize winners.
Via an open voting system, the public will vote for its favorite app among the 20 Finalists and select the Popular Choice Grand Prize winner.
All 3 Grand Prize winners will receive an exclusive, all-expenses-paid invitation to Pebble’s 2014 Developer Retreat, one Pebble Steel, and promotional support for their winning apps.
Grand prize and Popular Choice award winners will be announced on September 12th, 2014.

To have in mind: Three eclipses in a month
The world will witness a rare astronomical event- a series of triple eclipses starting July 2009. The fist in the series of triple eclipses will be a lunar eclipse on July 7 which will be followed by a solar eclipse on July 22 and then a lunar eclipse on August 6.
I hope i will wake up early to see it!!! lol....
I've been fortunate enough to be in the track of a total eclipse before (Aug 99 in Cornwall, England) and it's definitely one of those events that you remember for the rest of your life.
I hope our Asian friends have clear skies and the time to fully appreciate the changes in the environment as the eclipse progresses.
Roll on 20 Mar 2015.
So, did anyone experience this awesome event? pics?

Ahh!! i was far asleep as against i hoped. **** missed the event!!!
I've heard on the radio here in England that some people feel eclipses bring bad luck or ill health.
Would anybody sensible, in the 21st century, miss this incredible marvel of nature through fear or superstition?
Wow!
I´m amazaed about reading this.
Here in México is completly oposite, prehispanic cultures saw eclipses as a very special events that make a positive influence on live!
Apocalypto
If you saw that movie... they think that the eclipse is the way about one of the gods that maya's believe in, feel happy and satisffied with sacrifices... that horrible things ceased to the population...
Amazing isnt it?
And now we will wait for the align of the planets... maybe some magnetic chaos could happend, alerts has been talknig about here and there about that.

E3 2013
What?
Electronic Entertainment Expo, commonly known as E3, is an annual trade fair for the computer and video games industry presented by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA). It is used by many video game publishers and accessory manufacturers to show off their upcoming games and game-related merchandise.
Unlike Gamescom, Penny Arcade Expo (a.k.a. PAX) and other video game trade fairs that are open to the public, E3 is an exclusive, industry-only event. Persons who apply to attend are required by the event's governing body (Entertainment Software Association) to verify that they have some professional connection to the electronic entertainment industry.
E3 is commonly held in late May or early June of each year at the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC) in Los Angeles, and was held there from June 7 to June 9 in 2011. In 2007, the convention was exceptionally held from July 11 to July 13 in Santa Monica, California.

I cannot wait for E3, so much stuff will be there! I mean, consoles are only updated around every 5 years, so when they are they'll be HUGE improvements! This then means that developers will have less boundaries and the games graphics + smoothness will go through the roof!
Even if your not a console gamer, a lot of games are first made for console then ported to PC.
I'm stoked!
Konami's Pre-E3 conference is in 5 and a half hours.
Guess they'll show actual Castlevania LoS 2 gameplay, announce PES14 and share some info upon MGS 5/GZ

Well, if you'll be watching it, for example, tomorrow first time and read nothing about unveils before that - you'll have pretty much the same feeling IMO. At least I did when I watched Sony's E3 press-conference in 2011
29 minutes until Konami's conference
Is Microsoft's E3 event tomorrow? I had no idea
I might watch it on my Xbox

It's nice to important, but it's more important to be nice.
"When I was a young man, I had liberty, but I did not see it. I had time, but I did not know it. And I had love, but I did not feel it. Many decades would pass before I understood the meaning of all three. And now, in the twilight of my life, this understanding has passed into contentment. Love, liberty, and time: once so disposable, are the fuels that drive me forward"
Yup, it's tomorrow. Kinda interesting that their event is the first in line of all other press-conferences

Not really.. MS usually goes first, Sony goes that night and Nintendo always goes the next Morning..
It puts the lotion on its skin!
Except for this time Nintendo doesn't even have a full-fledged press-conference
Nope, they are doing the Nintendo direct instead... so, it still makes sense for the order..

But since then loads of features came across:
- Nerdy Pig #1: Current IP, we all like to know what IP we are on!
- Nerdy Pig #2: GitHub server status, what if someone DDoS it!
- Nerdy Pig #3: Random memes, courtesy of AutoMeme

Final Steps
Alright the competition ends in few days and I'm glad to announce that Geek The Time is already fully working.
The current work in progress though is:
- Squash a couple of bugs
- Clean Up code
- Update style
- And start the marketing campaign, you know write some cool stuff, get promoted...
Thanks to all who are downloading the app and doing in-depth testing. Between today or tomorrow the final version should be up on Google Play and Pebble AppStore.
Also the repos will be open sourced as promised and you will be able to read some funny commits huh!
See you fellows, this has been an amazing contest!
And it's opensource!
I've just made public all the involved repos. More info and links on the original post!
Right now I'm polishing everything for the end of this awesome challenge. What it started as a simple watchface that showed some movies and geek quotes now allows you to read news, including the XDA portal, to check the weather and even know the current bitcoin value in different currencies. If you need to remember something, just type a custom sentence there. And all the content gets updated every few minutes.

That's also not dollars, it's Chinese Yuan (Renminbi), which is like $1500 USD for first prize, $750 USD for second prize and $300 USD for third prize.
SuperFans, here we are to share yet another milestone with you all today. We’re overwhelmed by this new achievement of ours and we’re sure you’ll jump in excitement too. LeEco’s new endeavour – the LeSEE project - has been a sensation ever since its launch earlier this year, and is now set to become a reality by 2018.
You heard it right! And, did you just question HOW? Well, the good news is – LeSEE just raised $1.08 billion in the first round of funding from a consortium of investors in China. With this, LeEco counts among key players in the electric vehicle sector and is set to compete with Tesla, the US-based electric car manufacturer. That’s what we call some serious business. Isn’t it?

Not just the talk of the town, LeSEE has certainly created a buzz in the global automobile market. LeEco’s LeSEE was unveiled in Beijing earlier this year with a goal to revolutionize how the world travels. LeSEE – an autonomous internet-enabled electric supercar – brings to the table a ‘driverless’ concept, one which promises to transform the industry in the years to come.
LeSEE as a part of urban transportation will include extensive features that connects you with the technological world – smart-charging system, real-time sharing and lots more.
Where did it all start?
Now that LeSEE has made it this BIG, we’ll take you back in time where it all started. The world is growing and so is the population in it. But to meet the soaring requirements of people, the infrastructure is insufficient. Talking about the transportation industry, there are plentiful pitfalls even in this technological era.
LeEco’s founder – Jia Yueting, identified these loopholes and took a few major moves by investing in Faraday Future and Atieva. This also urged him to initiate a project under his own brand ‘LeEco’ and this is when LeSEE happened. Thanks to all the investors, they’ve contributed hugely in driving the impact in a shorter time – the impact of smart and high-tech commuting.
Hawk-eye view on transportation in India
Without a doubt, the Indian ecosystem has transformed in-and-out over the past half-decade or so. In India, a population of as large as 16% drive on their own to reach their workplaces or other destinations and out of this percentage, 67% use cars.
Of late we exchanged views with our staff here in the Bangalore office and concluded how carpooling could make all our lives so much better. As we discussed, one of our mates said how he sometimes take 80-90 minutes to travel 5 kilometres from his home to office. And, the frustration of traveling alone is higher than that of the traffic. This is the same story of every fourth individual around us.
With vehicles on roads multiplying tenfold each year, especially in the metros, carpooling evolves as a natural fit in the Indian environment.
Companies like Uber and Ola have already spotted the scope of carpooling and have been encouraging the masses to make it a lifestyle. Carpooling is the panacea to solve the most common problems of transportation – pollution, traffic, unavailability of mediums and soaring costs.
As per statistics, an average individual spends approximately ₹75,000 annually on fuel (considering fuel prices ranging from ₹65 to ₹75 across India). This cost can be cut down by almost 20% a year, if carpooling is practiced. And, a partner to chit-chat throughout the route doesn’t hurt all.
Technology is taking a front seat in the transportation sector, and in carpooling, too. The simplicity of booking a cab, choosing pick-up and drop locations, navigating routes, paying the fare, all add up to the experience.
Talking about trends, we are to witness a global growth of up to $335 billion by 2025 (according to a study by PriceWaterhouseCoopers) in the carpooling industry, and India is set to be a big part of that growth.
Moreover, the major dodges of security and social awkwardness that arise as a result of Indians being conservative are being fixed each coming day, offering higher value.
Add to that, the fact that there is rising competition among the players to deliver the best to their users, and the need to offer an ecosystem of safe, reliable, cost-effective transportation – we are taking measures to ensure that carpooling is here to stay.
LeEco’s strides in the public transportation sector
