Hey people,
a few weeks ago i grabbed my old phone (the i9000) and thought, let's flash a 4.4 rom, so i did, went great but the phone keeped having random reboots, so i thought let's switch to stock rom, did a full wipe and flashed stock rom with odin. Now i'm havring a bootloop, but i can't get it to go away, i flashed the stock rom again, i went to (stock samsung) recovery mode and did factory reset/wipe cache partition but nothing seems to help, can someone help me?
Gr, Sam
PS: Sorry for my bad english
When you flashed the stock ROM with odin, did you use a 512 pit file and have repartition checked?
You must repartition when going from KitKat to stock. And never tick repartition without having selected your pit file first, because if you forget and start the flash with repartition checked and no pit file added, then your phone is hard bricked.
Was your stock ROM 2.3.6?
---------- Post added at 08:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:09 PM ----------
If you did use a PIT file with repartition checked, then there is a file called dbdata.rfs which you should flash as PDA in Odin which should resolve your bootloop.
---------- Post added at 08:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:20 PM ----------
KitKat can run fine on the i9000, but don't flash it directly from a stock ROM. From stock, first flash CM9, then CM10, and then your KitKat ROM usually helps things go smoothly.

Nope didn't use the PIT file, where can i find this PIT file?
But thanks for your help bro, gonna try it.
I am gonna try that too, thanks again!
Once you have the pit file, you flash it at the same time as the stock ROM in Odin.
Do not flash stock ROM in Odin with repartition checked and no pit file selected. You will break your phone!!
Once you have flashed the stock ROM together with the 512 pit file and repartition selected, if the phone doesn't boot then you need to separately flash dbdata.rfs as PDA on its own.
Then you will have a working stock ROM phone.
Just search XDA and you will find links for the pit file and also dbdata.rfs in case you also need it. Most times, actually, probably all of the times I have flashed stock, I have had to flash dbdata.rfs to get it to boot.
Follow what I have told you and it will work.

Hey, I tried rooting using fugumod for galaxy S http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010141 I went into download mode, installed fugumod, then went into download mode again, and put on my kernel. It all started up fine, but before I got a chance to see if I was rooted, it restarted. It keeps doing this. I know I'm not bricked, i can get into recovery and download fine, but what can i do to fix this problem?
What firmware are you currently running? JVT? Did you try to root with a JVT kernal? Go back into Download mode and root with a kernal that is made for your firmware.

I'm in Australia, and I have the JVK firmware.
Usin Odin Upgrade your PDA to JVT, use the JVK Modem and CSC, repartition with 512pit. Flash one of the root kernals in the above links in the PDA section of Odin. Now you will have JVT and option to use many custom roms...or just keep it on stock JVT.
Edit: I think the most recent modem upgrade for Austrialia is XXJVQ and CSC is VAUJV6. See firmware link above.
JVK is European. Youll most likely have better cell coverage if you use the modem and csc above. Flash with JVT PDA
Do you know where to find JVK modem and csc?
Its all in Firmware Link.
Download the first download under Europe JVT 2.3.5...use only the PDA. You have to unzip it after you download it.
Dont use JVK if your in Australia...it will work but cell coverage most likely sucks.
Download the first download under Australia/NewZealand....it has the current Modem and CSC you should use. Unzip it and you will have your modem and csc
Put these in Odin with a 512pit....under how to Flash on the same link you will see a link for Odin with Pit files.
Sorry for my inexperience, but what is a 512pit?
Edit: You also said to download JVT 2.3.5. I'm on 2.3.3, does this matter?
No worries....You can download the odin and pit files on same link...its right below how to flash...there is a link.
So remember you want to flash
XXJVT in PDA
SRJV1 in MODEM XXJVQ will work but seems like SRJV1 is recommended in Aus i9000 thread
VAUJV6 in CSC
512 pit in PIT
After flash, go into recovery and wipe data reset, wipe cache partition, and wipe Dalvik Cache.
Reboot, power down, back to Download mode flash either of the root kernals from links in first post. Flash in PDA.
When done you will have rooted phone with current JVT PDA with your proper modem and CSC.
EDIT :When your done you will be on 2.3.5 JVT more current and many more options for using custom roms.

Found this....after reading the austalia i9000 thread...this is the best modem to use...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14273164&postcount=4
Seems like guys in Aus...are recommending this Modem...SRJV1
I did all that, now my phone just isn't turning on...
Edit: I just got into download mode, so i'm not bricked...
Edit 2: I installed Semaphore kernel, And i say reboot system now, it goes straight back to clockwork? Does that mean i don't have a rom?
If your flashing the files in the right spots in Odin ...the files I suggested above then everything should work fine....go to the i9000 australia thread and ask if the configuration I suggested should work.

So will Cyanogen work with this if i put it on a sd card and flash it in recovery?

What? Your obviously not doing what Im telling you to do. How are you installing semaphore you just said your phone doesnt turn on. Follow the instructions Ive posted for you in order.
Open Odin on Computer
load JVT in PDA, SRJV1 in Modem, VAUJV6 in CSC 512pit in PIT
Put phone in Download mode.
Connect phone to computer.
Com port goes yellow
Press start.
Wait till phone reboots.
After reboots, power down.
Reset Odin
Put semaphore 1.9.0 tar in PDA of Odin
put phone in Download mode
connect phone...com port goes yellow...press start
wait till phone reboots.
now you are rooted.

after you started odin did it run for about 5 to 10 minutes and say pass at the end and reset.
if so....try flashing again but use the csc from the jvt download instead of the vaujv6.
After flashing Sephamore or the modem stuff? Because both didn't even take a minute..
forget about semaphore right now.... follow these instructions exactly
open odin on computer.
put xxjvt in PDA...its the one that says CODE from the files you downloaded and unzipped.
Put SRJV1 in PHONE the one from the download under australia/newzealand modems.
Put the csc file from the Jvt download in csc....it says csc
put the 512 pit file in PIT
put phone in download mode and connect to computer.
com port goes yellow press start.
it should take about 5 to 10 minutes. when its done it will say pass and reset. once the phone resets disconnect usb...it will take a few minutes to reboot....do this and tell me when done.
---------- Post added at 08:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:28 PM ----------
After downloaded and unzipped this is what the files will look like.
PHONE_SRJV1.tar.md5....this goes in the phone section of odin
CODE_I9000XXJVT_CL617736_REV03_user_low_ship.tar.rar....this goes in PDA
GT-i9000-CSC-HOME-MULTI-OXAJVT.tar.rar....goes in CSC
S1_odin_20100512.pit.....goes in PIT
This exactly what the files look like if you downloaded the ones I told you and unzipped them.
Hi there, first time using odin to flash firmware on my galaxy s (used CWM for everything), and what do you know, it seems to have crashed
Can't link to the guide I was following since I'm new, but it was for XXJVU firmware, I was previously on Cyanogenmod 7.
So now I'm stuck on boot.bin, and have no idea what to do. I read on a galaxy SII thread that if I didn't tick repartition (I didn't) and didnt specify a .pit file (Unfortunately I did this) I was safe.
Should I unplug my phone and try to start Odin again? Or is there something else I should try?
Please help
try
try again.........................1} unplug ur phone and remove battery then again go to download mode......and connect it via pc { note,u must install galaxy s usb driver on ur pc,and remove kies from pc}....now do the process again.
---------- Post added at 11:22 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:20 AM ----------
have u select correct file in the correct path............in odin
thanks, same thing is happening again, so now I'm downloading XXJVT firmware, as long as I didn't tick re partition I should be able to fix it right?
Edit: Third try is the charm, got past boot.bin now on XXJVU, thanks for the help!
the case in detail's :
i flashed bad kernel on my device previously and now when iam trying to flash another kernel even use ODIN or CWM everything going well and completed but when check i found the old kernel still. i tried many times with same results and no error .
- system can read/write/mount the internal memory but the new pasted files deleted after restart. external card behave normal and i can preform flash using files pasted on it but without result any change.
- in CWM wipe/format/flash operations running well but no effect on device even restarted to CWM only.
- device has yellow triangle. is it effected?
- the devil kernel stacked in machine is 2.6.35.7-gb4846d2 [email protected] #2 and the build no. is jpkj4
system running normal but cannot keep any changes i do if restarted.
-system rooted and no problem with root
-can access adb
- ODIN behave same CWM, operation work but no change.
can anyone help me guys?
i did repartition the memory useing PIT for note butno change also
thank you all in advance
anyone may share an idea?
Try wipeing everything in cwm including all formats in mounts and storage and then flash a stock rom try kk9 with Odin then re root with kk9 root then if on gb use a jig to remove triangle or if going on ics try using triangle away from chainfire

i tried this steps using N7000OJPLA1 without success, what the spicial in KK9?
do you aware about tool stronger than Odin please? i used to flash with PIT file but odin couldn't call the memory to re-partition it.
do you think the counter if counted (1) and the triangle if appeared could prevent the system from even saving and keeping the settings which you may do? such WiFi On if make it off and restart its going back on, the rom in device now is stock rom GB.

The counter and yellow triangle need to be removed for warrenty purpose if you need to send the phone back and Odin normally is the saviour of most problems NEVER flash with Odin and mark the repartition as that alone can brick your device and I use kk9 cause it can directly be rooted easily and the counter and triangle have nothing to do with your setting
Also try a rom in Odin with a pit file to see if that helps

here you go mate try this
Get Heimdall, put your note in download mode. Go to the utility page, under "download as a file" click "save as", in the dialog put "galaxynote.pit". This will download the pit from the phone. Now you can untar the odin package (which might contain a pit too, in this case, you'd want to use that one), go to the flash tab of heimdall and select the pit you made (or got from the odin package, if it came with one), and add partitions and add the files from the odin tarball you extracted.

take your time bro. thank you
i think my device problem like that, the new kernel effected the internal memory by bad script which prevent the memory to deal with any operation, since the kernel in the same block with boot loader, so every time device boot load the kernel so run that bad script.
- anyway to remove the kernel files manually?
- how to stop kernel in boot at least so could do something through CWM or Odin.?

Instead of using cm7 for my i9000 I flashed cm7 Mesmerize..accidentally
I can enter Download mode...can flash via Odin but the problem is that it just wont start the firmware.. it boots samsung animation but then it restart...over and over agzain. Now I flashed some stock firmware via Odin but it just restarts after loading samsung logo.
Some solutions to this?
Thank you very much.
You will need to use odin with a stock ROM and the pit512 file.
In odin add all the files of the stock rom as usual then select the pit512. Once selected check re-partition.
now put phone in download mode and flash as usual.
CM based ROMS use a different file system from CM based ROMS.
Occasionally, as has happened to me, you may need to flash the ROM twice.
Once with pit & repartition checked and then a second time with no pit and repartition not checked.

I see your phone is a galaxy s2.
This is the galaxy s1 forum so while the procedure is the same as above I would confirm in the SGS2 forum which pit file you should use.
Thanks for reply.
I did some flash via odin and cwm while I was waiting for an answer..
Now my Odin can`t see my Phone. Windows sees it as a gadget serial...but it wont appear in Odin. I have ClockWord Speed Recover Kernel. Heimdall kernel flashing works..
edit: and if I try to install any rom via CWM it says assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") =="galaxys" || getprop....... E:Error in/mnt/sdcard/CWM Firmware/update-cm-7.1-GalaxyS-signed.zip

Installation aborted.
I can`t mount system either...
I recommend a google search for that error. I've had something similar before a resolved it through a google search. Unfortunately can't remember where or how.
To get odin to see the phine i would download driver from sammobile.com and try to reinstall it otherwise try heimdall.
