Hi guys,
Got my Moto G yesterday. It's dual SIM version. I'm hearing some cracking noise from phone's main speaker. Don't know whether it is defect. It increases during phone calls and data use. Anyone facing same issue? Should I ask for a replacement?

I have recently noticed when I made my first call after ICS upgrade, at high volume during a call, there is slight disturbing humming with the voice of the other person as if, the earpiece speaker is being driven beyond its limit. My note has never ever fallen from my hand even on my bed or sofa, so there's no possibility of any physical damage. Or could it be that the quality of earpiece speaker is really low that it starts giving such disturbances after some time. Anybody else experienced this?
It could just be the reception issue or some sort of interference rather than the ICS upgrade.

Hi All,
I have recently purchased this phone and am very pleased with it.
The only issue I have is that in calls when the volume is turned all the way up the earpiece buzzes slightly.
Does anyone else have this issue?
thanks.
Nope, but from what you describe it sounds to me like there's contamination in the earpiece speaker, when the speakers membrane vibrates high enough, the contamination vibrates along and that could be the buzzing sound you hear... unless it's a different kind of buzzing... like continuous buzzing, is it?
The buzzing only occurs when the volume is turned up loud. It is as as if the speaker is loose and is vibrating inside the housing. Also occasionally when i make or answer a call the speaker doesn't work and there is no sound from the other caller.
I plan to return it to the store I bought it and try and get a replacement as surely this is faulty hardware?
It surely isn't a software issue, and unless you have a very poor signal while in call, there should be no reason to have a crappy (or absent) caller sound, other than the possibility I mentioned below, which sounds very likely... Hope they can fix or replace it for you
I contacted both motorola and Three UK (whom I purchased it from) and they both said it was not normal. I returned it to a Three store and got it replaced. The new one has no buzzing so i think its all sorted.
So i have had the replacement for nearly 2 weeks now and the issue has started again. there is a buzzing when in call. it varies with the pitch of the other callers voice but it sounds like there's a bee stuck in the earpiece or the speaker itself is loose and is vibrating.
Im not rough with the phone at all and most of the time it sits on my desk at work.
apparently there is a similar issue with the RAZR M in the U.S
surely I cant be unlucky enough to be the only one in the UK to have this issue and to have it twice....
Hi Folks:
I love my Moto X 2014. However, when my wife calls me from her Moto X 2014 I can hardly hear what she says sometimes. Here voice gets lowered/amplified dynamically depending on how she holds the phone. It seems that noise cancellation is somehow considering her voice background noise and clips it out. She has the same issue when using my phone (on the same carrier), so it's not the network/the specific handset. Has anyone else experienced this? Are there known solutions to the issue? Morotorla blames third-party apps and/or the network, but we have experienced this on both phones out of the box on KitKat and Lollipop.
All the best,
Jeroen Claes
Hi
I had/ have this issue. My phone was sometimes clipping my voice and other times making it really quiet and echoey. The latter issue was traced down to the case I was using but I still occasionally get the issue where it clips my voice. This seems to happen when I'm in a quiet room, not sure if the way I'm holding the phone is causing the issue, as I thought maybe my palm was blocking the back lower mic. I was going to return the phone to be looked at and contacted Motorola who seemed quite happy to do this. But ATM I'm trying to see if the issue sorts itself now I've ditched the case.
Hi!
I have a problem when I recieve or make a call, I can't hear any sound, the other person can hear me talk but I can't except when I turn on the speaker.
anyone who had the same problem?
thanks
Make a hard reset to your phone and see if this issue remains. If yes, you can't do anything and it is probably a hardware issue. Go at your local Motorola service center.
My wife's first generation moto x had this same issue with her earpiece speaker. Her issue was coffee spilled into the speaker which killed it.
Most likely it's hardware.

Thanks everyone, it's seems that it was a software problem, today I can hear again when I call or get one
Hello
I bought Moto G5S Plus recently and I am now facing an issue when using loudspeaker while calling. It happens during voice call or video call (What'sApp, Skype, Google Duo all the same).
Strange thing is the affected person is on the other end. Meaning, whenever I put someone on my loudspeaker, he/she will get the noise. To avoid this, I have to use headset everytime during video calling or just use earpiece speaker during voice call.
I have tested with 3 phones already, all of the phones got the same noise whenever I put my Moto G5S Plus on a loudspeaker mode.
I am certain this is because of mic orientation is wrong while switching to loudspeaker mode. It is using the bottom mic (the one that is next to speaker) instead of earpiece mic. Which is why the person on the other end will get that noise whenever he/she starts to talk when I'm putting them on my loudspeaker mode. It starts with echo and eventually becomes high pitch/squeaking noise.
I have contacted Motorola. They always gave me this "solution". Reboot your phone to safe mode and try to see if the problem persists while using loudspeaker mode. Also, clear app settings/cache. I did all those but still the same.
This is driving me crazy because it a newly bought phone and using headset everytime to do video calling is soooo not convenient.
Anyone with the same device (Moto G5S Plus) is getting the problem as mine?
Thanks
I am facing the exact same issue.. I have read in Lenovo durum that bottom facing mic is disabled during video calling and is by design, which is ridiculous. Hope they fix the problem

Wow after 6 months finally somebody replied lol. So I'm not the only with this problem on my G5S Plus. Anyway, I am using OnePlus 5 now and my Moto device is just sitting in the box untouched. Shame because I really liked that device but only 1 problem hmm...
