Question? HTC Repair Protocols - Sprint HTC One (M8)

Hello Folks,
I'm have a HTC HK M8 that I need to get repaired. HTC is kind enough to offer REPAIR service to their customers, but my phone is stock, just unlocked and s-off. Will they work on it? It's just the metal case needs replaced, no software issues.
Or will they just return it to s-on?
Thank u in advance!

Had a buddy go through something similar here's what happened to him and how he got his phone fixed: https://plus.google.com/105636189571553998133/posts/P66eonF3cJL

Stock TMOUS HD7 ROM for warranty

Hi,
Background
I had issues with the back button and the home(windows) button not functioning on my HD7 (brand new, bought off craigslist though). I tried to reset the phone a couple of times, roll it back to pre-nodo, flash a custom rom "by ansar" and nothing worked. the back button and the home button still don't function, or they're very glitchy.
Question
How do i flash my HD7 back to the original stock rom that was shipped with TMOUS version?? More importantly, where can I find this ROM/RADIO? I need to send for warranty repair and I dont want them to refuse service based on the fact that I installed a ROM from XDA.
Thanks,
Yuvan
*bump* help needed to
For stock T mobile USA follow this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876451
It will be the second one from the bottom. (9.1 BR)
Also try (9.2 BR) to see if it fixes ur problem its the lastest ROM for the T mobile HTC HD7
thanks. I will try both of them, but I believe I loaded one of them already with no luck. If these fail, I should be able to send for warranty repair with these ROMS without encountering issues for tampering?
Update: so, none of the roms fixed my button issues I have to send this stupid **** in for repair now. I'm disappointed with HTC and TMOBILE service to get this fixed. I wish they would have given me a loaner. I just got this phone too, but off craigslist (brand new though). grrr

HTC does advance device replacements. Ask about it when u call them. They will send u a replacement phone then u send your phone in, and if they verify your phone is damaged, you're done.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just called them and they told me that they don't have advanced device replacement program for the HD7. I'm going to send my device in tomorrow. I'm using a friends International HD2, which gets only Edge on TMobile US. I've purchased 6 or 7 HTC devices in the past 4 years. If they end up making excuses for repair or replacement, goodbye HTC, hello Nokia!!

[Q] anyone with stock nandriod HTC One Developer edition backup?

Hey all,
So i have been more of a forum lurker and really enjoyed all the resources on this site. However, I did a noob mistake and didn't make a backup of my stock rom before I CWM the recovery for root access. And I just noticed some problems with the phone itself that warrants an exchange (stuck pixels). But none of the posted RUU or nandriod backups correlates to what I need. Anyone out there willing to share theirs? (hopefully in the next few days before I ship this back and cross my fingers they don't notice?) Oh an anyway to get rid of the tampered warning in Hboot/Fastboot menu?
Thanks!

Currently it is not possible to get rid of the TAMPERED UNLOCKED or RELOCKED. We need S-Off for that. But if it makes you feel any better in my experience I have sent 3 or 4 phones to HTC with unlocked bootloaders and custom ROMS never had a issue. You have a stuck pixel there is no way under the sun HTC is going to tell you that was caused by unlocking your bootloader or rooting. You will get it back with a new screen and the bootloader and ROM will probably still be there
Well I'm sending it back to lets talk for an exchange. Should I deal with HTC directly instead?

No. You are not in warranty yet. This is a defective product upon arrival. HTC will repair it by replacing the screen Letstalk will send you a new unit. So it's up to you really which you would prefer. I know HTC will have a 10 day turn around from when the phone leaves you till it returns. Letstalk will ship you an advanced replacement but will want to put a charge on your card for the new one until the old one is returned to them.

I don't know, considering it says TAMPERED, it might be that LetsTalk would refuse to exchange, while HTC would simply repair it.

You would be assuming that the average person who checked the phone in would even know how to do that. I wouldn't. They will send it to HTC who will credit them for it or give them another unit. I gave you two different courses to follow and told you what would happen with both. The choice is up to you.
Also a quick look into my signature might enlighten you a tad.

HTC ONE rooted NO WARRANTY

I had send my One to a repair for blown speaker and they call me that warranty is not valid because phone is UNLOCKED and ROOTED. The guy said that HTC have tool for checking that. On test he get some kind of error and that is reason for warranty void. Country Slovenia.
Any suggestions how to solve that?
Thanx,
Andrej
I do know how to solve something: Don't post in the wrong section. People will be annoyed and wont answer u.
False section, but anyways
Unlocking the phone doesn't lthe warranty on the hard ware except hardware like Cpu that could get damaged by over clocking etc.
So tell that to the guy and search up the terms of using HTC dev unlock and find a good quote of it.
Renovated.
Well i had to sent mine in too, with a bricked Mainboard. They changed it without complains.
And i was also at S-Off and Custom ROM.
Well i got a new phone in exchange, but as long as rooting doesn't affect your hardware your warranty should still be valid.
i have sent my HTC One to India Bangalore service center coz of touch screen problem..they have replaced with new HTC One device..mine also unlocked and rooted with custom ROM..they didn't asked about that..

I think unless your country has strong consumer protection laws, you may need to try again. Ask to talk to the guy's manager. Explain that rooting can't cause this type of hardware problem (can only possibly cause overheating, not speaker problems). Ask to talk to the technician's boss.
I had send a complain about my warranty to them and now I'm waiting for replay. I think that my phone was first that was rooted and they do not know what to do and the simplest solution is no warranty .
I'm going to let you know what will be the solution.
bye
Hello, all.
To my complain they said that phone is going to be send to another EU service that is not in Slovenia. So after 14 day I got a brand new HTC One, HBOOT 1.55 S-Off. On the same day I all so become FATHER i got a baby girl :victory::victory::victory::victory::angel::angel:
So thank you HTC, and F-U-C-K OFF Emonogram ( Slovenian warranty company).
What pisses me off is that in minutes that they said i'm warranty void I got quote for 480€ for new phone. grrrrrrrrr
Bye,
Andrej

How broken is it? You have a picture? I assume you didn't S-OFF?
I did s-off actually but it is now back to stock and s-on say relocked on the boot loader. The phone is completely functional besides the lcd which looks like its leaking.

You should've reset that RELOCKED flag to just LOCKED while it was S-OFF. If you S-OFF it again you can still do that. I guess at this point HTC already blacklisted it though. Did you use Firewater?

You could always look on eBay for a replacement screen/digitizer and try to replace it yourself. I haven't tried anything like that myself though.

How much do you want for it?
Don't know how hard it is to open the M8 up but you can try finding a bad esn M8 and swap the motherboard out. Just a suggestion....may not be worth the work ?

If your warranty is expired, juts send the phone to htc. They will charges you anyway so no need to return back to stock. Don't attempt to replace the camera yourself.

Yes, since it is out of warranty they don't care if it is root or not.

I'm fairly sure that because HTC confirmed this as a manufacturing defect they would repair this outside of warranty also. Just send it in the worst that will happen is you'll get a bill for the repair.
But the only reason to return to stock is to protect your warranty. If you don't have warranty then you have nothing to protect. :good:

If it's still under contract I don't suppose Vodafone will be best pleased. But I don't think you will need to actually send the device to Vodafone.
When I sent mine in for the same problem but on H3G uk. And I did return to stock first to reinstate warranty. But I contacted Three who then contacted HTC who then sent me an e-mail with some printable labels. I packaged the phone stuck the labels on and gave it to a courier and it went strait to HTC. Obviously not sure in your case as your with a different carrier who will maybe handle it differently but that's how it worked for me.

I actually just recently got mine back from HTC in Houston TX where they replaced the internals of mine, gave me a new camera module and sent it back, all for free.
My unit was outside of the warranty by a few months, and they still did the repairs for free.
My unit was also custom ROM, custom recovery, and SuperCID.
I will say, I discussed it with several techs on their end, I told them everything I remember doing to it, and even outlined the custom ROM, custom recovery, and that it was superCID, as well as which versions of any custom firmware\software that I put on it.
Originally they sent me a $200 quote, but then when discussing it with them over the phone they were quick to retract and do the work for free under extended warranty.
THIS is the exact reason I love and have loved HTC, and why I've gotten others to experience the same by purchasing HTC devices (HTC One)
