[Q] HTC 8X qhsusb_dload issue - Windows Phone 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys
I have the following problem with my HTC 8X. It fails to launch, shows no indicators etc. When I connect it to PC, the following device appears in the Device Manager: qhsusb_dload.
After some googling I found that the problem is in fact that the phone had discharged during the update. I believe, it is true as I have forgotten to charge it in the evening.
Did anyone have such problem? And can it be resolved at all?
Cheers

Does Nokia Care Suite recognize it at all?

Unfortunately it can't be resolved. You'll need to take it to where you bought it and see if they can reflash it or if HTC or wherever you bought it will give you another one.
YMMV

S.O.S.

I bought my HTC One about three or four months ago and it was working great no problems with anything, the about two weeks ago I went to add music from my computer running windows 7 onto the phone and it came up with an error of something along the lines that the device was broken or something like that, I thought that it was just my computer because its a piece of junk anyways so I tried to connect it to my friends computer and it did the same thing. The computer(s) wont do anything with the phone, not even bring up mass storage. I have tried to re install htc sync all the htc drivers and still nothing has happened. I was wondering if this has been a known problem with this phone or is it just my phone that seems to be doing it. Aside from this the phone itself is working great and I don't root or anything with the phones that I use. I was also wondering if there was anything that I might be able to do aside from the things that I have already done, and I'm willing to try just about everything.
Thanks!!!!!

This only happens once or twice ever day, the rest of the time the computer wont even read that it has something plugged into it.

Are you plugging it into a USB SS port? I have two of those on my laptop and it acts funky when I plug it into them. Also, reinstall your drivers after deleting them from device manager.
I have a 2.0 port and what I assume to be two normal usb ports. I uninstalled the drivers but I'm not exactly sure where I need to go to get them again, do the download after I install HTC sync manager?

I wouldn't install htc sync manager at all unless you need it. You can search "universal android driver" on xda and find it.
Hey guys I just wanted to let you know that I got the problem fixed. I just performed another factory data rest and that fixed the problem. Thanks for all the help!

Xperia SP won't charge over PC

hi guyz, i bought my SP month ago and i had positive and negative reactions. SP has a lot of bugs, i hope that they are software bugs and that with new update, they will be removed. my biggest problem is that when i connect my phone to pc it doesn't show that it is connected, it isn't charging and pc companion doesn't recognise it. the funny thing is that i could charge (over pc) it 2 weeks ago and suddenly one day it won't charge. i tried with mass storage mode but it doesn't help too. it charges only when my PC is turned off but i don't need "another charger", i need to connect my phone with pc to transfer data. let's say that this doesn't matter if i can update my phone over wi-fi, but if i can't what the hell i'm gonna do ? i don't wanna go to repair it, it's a new cellphone ! i'm from Croatia and if someone knows : can i update over wi-fi or i have to connect it to usb ? because it says that in some countries it can update over wi-fi and somewhere it can't. i would be very grateful if someone could really help me, thanks !

how in god's name do you expect a PC to install drivers over Wi-Fi...
Of course you need to connect your phone with USB..
Do you have root or any app prohibiting the phone from connecting?

before you go and call someone trying to help you blind you should keep in mind they don't have to help you. that said try turning it off plugging it in then powering on while connected. you can every try pressing the button on the back to reset the battery.
Have you actually tried using another USB-port?
What you are refering to is an OTA, over the air software update, not a drivers installation
ok sorry, but i thought i explained everything.. i didn't say that i expect PC to install drivers, i said if i could connect my cellphone via wi-fi and download software updates without involving pc .. ? if i can, half of problem is solved..
hmmm, i'm not sure about any root app or something similar.. i have several games, whatsapp, soundhound, ringtone maker, instagram, file manager,di radio, accu weather, but i don't think that they are responsible for this..
i tried all usb ports. yup, maybe i said it wrong.
i'll try to reset it now.

hmm that's weird... if you can't connect with stock firmware, maybe it's a hardware problem? Does your PC recognize other devices on USB ports?
Does the phone charge while connected to AC adapter?

Goodluck, mate. I'll keep searching solution for it, I'll report what I can find
Edit: My guess is that's hardware related. Maybe too low mAh to charge with the USB cables? I have no clue

Thanks ! I went to store to repair it on monday, and they told me to come in 3 days to pick up the phone. so i did but they told me that phone is still being tested cause it's relatively new. i think that this is the hardware problem and sony's poor socket charger quality. we will see..

i knew that they are noobish only in software field, but i always thought that it's not a big deal cause with new update the most of the bugs get fixed. now they proved that they suck also in hardware field, maybe not for flagships, but definitely for mid-range phones or lower.. i won't forget to ask what was the problem, don't worry

Xperia SP USB and software update problems

It's not the first time that i'm posting this kind of problem, My SP was repaired 3 times in 3 months since i bought it, absolute piece of s...
How is it possible to pick your cell up from service centre, then you come home and you find out that they haven't connected it to pc/usb just to be sure that USB works ???? Everytime they were testing my phone, after removing old motherboard and of course when they put new and they didn't connect it to PC ??? Are they retarded ?? Anyway, i will terminate my contract with Tele2 and service centre, because this is just too annoying. What a dose of unprofesionalism, unbelievable.
Right now i can't do anything except using my phone and retards in service centre didn't update my software ?? So how am i supposed to do that when my pc can't recognize it, it even won't charge over PC ! Same thing like the first time when it didn't charge and wasn't recognized on pc.
Well is there any solution to update my firmware over the air or something.. Thanks, i'm very frustrated

Unofortunately, you can't update your phone "over the air", but you can try updating your phone using flashtool as this might be a software problem.

HTC One Won't show up on computer

First off i want to say hi to everyone and thank everyone for even looking at this thread. I've found some great stuff on this web site but so far nothing has worked for me so i figured i would put up a thread and see what i get back . First off i have an HTC one m7 from sprint. What im trying to do is unlock bootloader root it and sim unlock it. But im am stuck on the first step of my plan. Connecting the HTC one to the computer lol. Htc one has android 4.4.2 running htc sense 5.5. When i plug it in to the computer sometimes i wont get nothing like no noise saying that its plugged in and trying to get drivers. Other times if im lucky i look on my computer and it shows up as a cd drive but when i click on it i get nothing it says insert disc. These is what i have tried so far: htc driver 4.01.001, htc_bmp usb driver x64 1.0.5375, about five usb cables even an actual htc one cable. tried to connect it with other computers, htc sync, different usb port. I think thats everything lol. Oh and also on my ubuntu laptop but it doesn't show up. At this point im pretty disappointing at the device and kinda want to break it lol. I tried using weaksauce to see if it would work for me and it doesn't just crashes. I've seen some great stuff on these forums and i was hoping i could get a hand. I'm on a windows 7 64bit computer.

When i go to device manager nothing shows up with exclamation mark. Yeah it shows usb connected it charges the phone. Sometimes i also get a notification on the phone saying that if the htc sync manager doesn't show up to get it off the website which i have done before with no result.
This may sound crazy, but have you tried using a different USB cable? They tend to get damaged over time, especially at the ends.
Also, what does the windows Device Manager say you've plugged in?

Uninstall everything HTC.
Reboot PC.
Install these drivers
Plug phone in and let the drivers install (drivers will install while booted to OS,recovery, and fastboot)
Still not recognized? (If you are using Windows 8.1 this will most likely not work, unless you hboot is 1.55 or 1.56)
On your PC go to device manager and find your phone(usually M7WLS), right click and select properties
Select the driver tab
Select update driver
Select browse my comp
Let me pick
Look for ADB USB device or similar should be one of the first couple choices
Select MyHTC install and you should be good
After i installed the drivers when i go to device manager the phone is not listed on there. The only evidence that i have when i plug the phone is on the computer it shows up as a cd drive but it doesn't let me edit the driver for it.

Just figured I'd chime in for anyone like me who also runs into this thread(I realize it's a few months old now)...
Was having the same exact issue with my HTC One m7...Plugged the phone in tons of times over the year I had it, never once had a issue...all of a sudden one day I get this USB not recognized(if Im lucky usually nothing happens)...So I plug in my other M7 ..it shows up instantly...tried everything as well....Finally got a brand new port put in.....STILL nothing....talk about frustrating...this was a month ago...
Just got a Max m7. ...nothing same USB not recognized...same phone charges fine but nothing registers on the phone as being plugged in. I gotta wonder if this is a 4.4.2 issue?? Any ideas anyone , any solutions (btw all of these previously mentioned phones are bone stock, never rooted, unlocked, or anything...I tried hard reset on both, cleaned the ports , installed brand new port on one, still nothing. Something ain't right here.

Yes, definitely... I have around 15 usb cables, half oem Samsung, the other half oem HTC, and a Blackberry cable...I have been flashing phones to Boost Mobile for the past five years (which is why I keep so many cables) because often for some odd reason cables , for no apparent reason, will work fine on one phone & not the other. Also, that's why I'm confident in saying that based off my experience with so many HTC devices, and never having this issue with any other device except for the HTC One..
That it appears to me to be a issue with Sense 5.5 - 6 4.4.2 HTC android versions. I never had this problem till I started seeing phones doing it that all had that in common(including one of my own m7's that I got when it first came out, hooked it up to a pc countless times(managing the memory ) over the first year I had it...Never had a issue connecting to the pc.Once it was updated to Sense 6 the problem started. Now I'm not saying it happens w/ every device , my other M7 is running 6 and connects just fine...but the other day I got a m7 Max, doing the samething, and running 6...
Of course , I guess it could just be some coincidence... but my educated guess is that it's some error in the Sense 6 that can occur randomly.

[Q] Mac, Windows, Ubuntu Won't Recognize Phone

After having this phone for a little over a year, I have finally decided to enjoy the world of root once again. The only probably is that I have been banging my head against the wall all day trying to figure out why none of my computers will recognize my phone when it is connected.
I am 100% stock right now.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

I hate to be that guy, but I'm going to be that guy. I tried installing the drivers on a Win7 machine, even did a factory reset on the phone. I have tried using multiple cables, but still am not having any luck.
Has anyone else had this problem and been able to resolve it? I am tempted to go to Sprint and see if they will replace it and try my luck with getting one that hasn't been updated yet.

I hate to be that guy, but I'm going to be that guy. I tried installing the drivers on a Win7 machine, even did a factory reset on the phone. I have tried using multiple cables, but still am not having any luck.

I've never experienced this, but I've heard that some cables can only handle charging the phone but not doing data transfers between the phone and the PC. Is the phone getting charged when connected to the computer? Also, is the phone getting charged normally (via outlet/AC)?
It might be that the phone's faulty - in that case just factory reset your phone, make sure it's S-ON, unrooted, on stock ROM, completely wiped etc, and take it back to Sprint.
I'd suggest towelroot to root your phone easily without a computer, but since the newer HTC phones have /system write-protected, it won't work. Give it a try though anyways - it won't affect anything.

It charges when connected to the computer, but when I connected it to my Car Dock this morning it told me that it couldn't charge it. This was using the HTC Card Dock specific for my HTC One.
I'll be taking this in to the Sprint Store to see if they will order me a replacement, or can show me where I am going wrong.

Yeah then I'm almost positive it's your HTC One that has a problem.

I had the same problem with my HTC. I took it into Sprint, it ended up being an issue with my phone. They replaced it and problem solved
